2017 hardtop jcw clutch sticking

2023.05.30 04:14 jcubwf56 2017 hardtop jcw clutch sticking

Apologizes if this has been discussed, I searched and couldn’t mind much info. The clutch pedal in my JCW occasionally sticks to the floor for a half second or so. Usually after hard driving. It’s happened maybe a dozen times over the past couple months, pretty infrequent. At first I thought it was getting hung up on the floor mat for just a moment but that wasn’t it. I’m not the most mechanically inclined, but I’m wondering if it could be something to do with transmission fluid? I’ve owned the car since October in NJ so I’m only just starting to see how the car deals in warmer weather. Any thoughts? Thanks!!

2023.05.29 23:40 redditsucksfuckmods Opinions on a low-mileage '01 2500 gas for use w/ truck camper?

I'm looking to move from a small Chevy van to a larger pickup truck for the purposes of carrying a camper shell. I haven't shopped a camper yet, but I'm flexible and that's a separate question all together. I've found a good deal on a 2001 Ram 2500 (gas) with an eight-foot bed, with under 60k original miles, but I am no kinda truck guy so I'm wondering if anyone here has experience with these 2nd-gen Ram trucks and the specific needs of carrying a loaded down camper shell with one or two people.
I've looked through the history here, and it seems like most of the campers in conversation are the towed variety, and the trucks seem to be more contemporary. Elsewhere, lots of people on their various forums seem to have unkind things to say about the era of Dodge trucks; in particular the transmission and suspension, which would obviously be two of the most taxed components on such a vehicle. I'm comfortable enough with upgrading the suspension, but obviously a "good deal" on a vehicle can go quickly out the window as soon as a new transmission is involved.
So does anyone here have experience with a 2nd gen Ram and camper shells they can share? Thanks in advance!

2023.05.29 20:47 g3rmangiant Question About Maintenance

I have a 2017 GMC Terrain that I purchased in 2018 with about 10k miles on it. I've been changing oil with new filters every 7500 miles like my manual says. I just did the 97,500 mile service myself (oil, oil filter, transmission fluid, transfer case fluid, and rear diff fluid)... however, the manual never mentioned the transmission fluid or the diff fluid! I only did those because as I was researching transfer case stuff, I found out about those! So that is the first time those fluids have ever been changed.
I'm a but of a noob when it comes to my own maintenance, and I had no idea you had to change transmission and diff fluid more often... how screwed do you think my car is? Is this going to lead to catastrophic issues? How often do I need to change these fluids going forth?
Thanks

2023.05.29 20:38 letr1 What would you recommend for a truck that can be used in a year for 5th wheel

Hello,
we are looking for a truck under 8 000 Canadian Dollars, it has to be capable of towing 24ft 5th wheel that we will buy next year. This year we just want to use the truck as our camper :)
Iv been looking at 2001 silverados, 2006 ram 2500, and some f250 but all of them are known for transmission issues when they have around 200 000km on it. And all of these trucks are 200k-280k km
We are also looking for gas as diesel is just too expensive to maintain. We will be on the road till the end of the season and then work through winter to get the 5th wheel.
What should i look out for?
Thank you

2023.05.29 16:01 AdministrativeMind86 2017 2.5L Transmission Fluid - Drain + Fill Question

I had my mechanic do a drain and fill, normally I purchase the parts/fluids. The part store recommended 12 litres which lead to a cost of $280.00.
When my mechanic did the drain he said only 6L drained out so that’s what he replaced. Should he have put the full 12 litres?

2023.05.29 02:06 Nik17 I traded my GR86 for a Hyundai with a Theta ii

Hi. It’s me. In January I traded my GR86 for an Elantra N. Since them I’ve put about 2500 miles on including one track day, an autocross, and a lot of preschool runs.
Photos and hot lap video https://imgur.com/a/02SffO8 https://streamable.com/m4rvto
Why did I get rid of the GR86? Space. The GR86 can fit two adults and two kids in car seats, however your passenger will be miserable and you’ll have to perform an expert level yoga move each time you put a child in a rear facing convertible car seat. Even just putting my oldest one in her forward facing one is not ideal. Me being me, I started looking and saw that even now in May 2023, these things are still hard to find which mean places are giving top dollar for them.
Why the Elantra N? I realized that this segment is ideal for me. Many people moan about fwd being not fun, but I’ve had just as much fun in fwd as rwd at autocross and on track. This segment gives me fun cars that can do it all, as a dad car DD and something for weekend fun, with mostly no compromises. I went down the list of usual suspects. FL5 CTR: Too expensive. Already had an FK8. Lacking a bit of character. Impossible to find. GRolla: A bit small in the rear for a rear facing car seat. AWD is more of a minus than a plus for me, even though I live in New England. GolfR: A little expensive, too under the radar, too refined. I also considered a DCT F80 M3, but couldn't justify the extra cost, and found it a bit too insulated.
The EN checks all of the right driving boxes for me and even has the option to appease my wife who has always (politely) asked me to get an automatic transmission that she could drive. Until now, I’ve always had a manual. I’m not a die hard 'I must drive everything stick' type person, but I always enjoy driving stick on the street but have said for a while I’d consider a DCT for its telepathic shifting. Of course the one box the EN doesn’t check is the looks. My god the front. I still have no idea what they were thinking (and I don't think the '24 refresh looks much, if any better). As I’ve owned it, it’s grown on me a little. Much like if your friend names their cat or dog something silly, you start to appreciate it as you associate the name with a real thing that takes real pets and belly rubs. I do enjoy the rear light bar, but not the wing that’s crumpled in the middle. I assume this is to aid visibility? And of course the side looks pre-crashed but it can be forgiven.
Interior The interior is good. The Hyundai infotainment is really great. Large, sharp screens for both the gauge cluster and the infotainment. I love how the infotainment screen is slightly angled to the driver. Of course I mostly just use it for carplay but I love the N mode screen. It let’s you make your own custom modes where you can set steering, engine/throttle response, shift speed, suspension, and exhaust. It also has a bunch of customizable settings inside of N mode. Want the DCT to not creep? There’s a setting for that. Want a little kick on upshifts and the trans to really slam home that gear? N power shift will do that for you. Want the DCT to hold revs and know when you’re on a track? N track sense is here for you. Outside of the infotainment the interior is fine. Seats are great, and heated. They light up. Why? ¯_(ツ)_/¯. Some of the plastics are out of a base Elantra, but everything you touch is good, with alcantara on many surfaces. I did have the base GR86, but the EN interior is definitely better in just about every way. And the Hyundai app is wonderful for remote starting with climate control or just quickly and easily unlocking/locking.
One interior-ish quirk, it has no adaptive cruise control. It does have lane keep assist, rear parking sensors, emergency front braking and blind spot monitoring. No ACC is not a huge deal breaker to me as I don’t often go on long highway trips for it, but it would be nice to have.
Driving I like fwd. I like rwd. I’m definitively in the ‘if you hate fwd, you just haven’t driven good fwd at the limit’ camp (sorry). Do I miss leaving T-junctions sideways with rwd? A little. I think the equivalent feeling for fwd is approaching a corner, keeping the revs high, mashing throttle and feel the eLSD just suck you in, like magic. The eLSD is excellent, as is the wet 8 speed dct. It almost always knows which gear you’re going for which means a impressively quick shift. Even if you choose a shift that doesn’t jive, it’s still not slow. Is it as engaging as a manual? Probably not, but the video game-ness of it is fun in its own way. The worst named feature that comes with the DCT is the NGS. Push the button and you get 20 seconds of 25nm more of torque. It’ll also put your exhaust into the state of CA’s favorite Sport+ mode with all of the pops and bangs you could ever want, and if you have the transmission in automatic, it’ll downshift you to the highest gear. The suspension is adjustable, which in partnership with the DCT, helps make the car go from appliance car (in eco mode) to a true fun daily/something that's ready for the track. Suspension in my opinion is soft enough on it's softest setting and just about stiff enough in the stiffest setting. Sticky stock PS4S help the quick turn in, but even with the all-season DWS 06 that I put on for some light winter duty, handling remains good. Power is plenty. I don't think it feels much slower than the CTR when using the NGS feature.
The dealer experience
I’ve bought quite a few cars and this dealership experience was the best. I feel like I read nothing but bad things about Hyundai but was genuinely impressed. The dealership wasn’t that far away, but everything was done via email/electronically. Everything was as smooth as possible, super easy transaction from start to finish.
On track
I did add some light mods, camber bolts (with an alignment bumping the already good front camber from -1.7 -> -2.5 in the front) and 18x9 wheels (from 19x8) and 245/40/18 Kumho V730 tires. Car comes with genuinely track capable brakes and factory filled with DOT4. Car was terrific at my local track, Thompson for an SCCA Track Night in America event. Oil gets a little warm, like just about any turbo 4, but factory gauges are great and coolant temp stays reasonable. DCT really comes to life on track where it feels like you’re shifting in a video game. Car was about 1.5s faster than my GR86, which was on a stickier tire (Falken RT660). I can’t wait to track it more.
What’s next? Nothing for a while. Going to feed it fluids, brakes and tires and enjoy it. I would honestly still have the CTR if the market weren’t so wild. Which is better? At least for the FK8, I prefer the EN in most ways. The main difference between the two is character. The FK8 does everything well but without fan fare or drama. Exactly the opposite of its boy racer looks. It’s like Honda set out to build the best hot hatch but forgot that being the best doesn’t necessarily make it the most fun. The EN is brimming with character. It has torque steer, the exhaust can make hilariously loud pops and bangs (and only if you want it to), and the seats light up. Hyundai knew that people want fun. Of course the Honda will have better resale value and potentially be more reliable but the EN makes me feel more, which is kind of why we buy these things.
Cons and quirks Only two front cup holders. Front door pocket bottle holders only hold small bottles/could be more usable. No rear climate vents, sorry kids. No adaptive cruise Rear strut bar limits pass through trunk storage but it is fairly easily removable.
Happy to answer any and all questions about the car.

2023.05.29 00:13 Accomplished-Bowl551 2020 Ram 2500 Turbo Issue

My Ram 2500 has about 26k miles on it and also has a Fleece VGT turbo. The previous owner had the Fleece turbo installed but he also gave me the OEM turbo in a box when I bought the truck.
Issue: When I'm pulling my RV up hills my turbo feels like it's surging. I'm not sure if that the right term but basically when I'm pulling a hill and I hold steady throttle with about 25PSI of boost it will constantly drop about 4 PSI for half a second. It does it every few seconds. When it first started I thought my transmission was slipping.
What could cause this? Do you think putting the OEM turbo back on would fix the issue?
I'm going to call Fleece on Monday and see what they have to say.
Thanks in advance!

2023.05.28 19:44 Acceptable_Pea_4627 EGR cooler replacement

EGR cooler replacement
2017 volt 52868miles giving me check engine and low propulsion warnings. See pic of the codes. Fuse 3 is blown. Cleaned EGR per YouTube video, no complications. Replaced the fuse, low propulsion went away for 3 minutes but then it blew again. From what I gather it is EGR cooler based on other posts and forums. But has anybody replaced it themselves?
I took it to a dealer that’s closest to me and they kept it for 5 days without any diagnostics. Never answered my calls or called me back. I get the feeling they don’t actually have a volt tech. I got the car back because I was annoyed with them and need my car. It’s drives electric fine.
I’ve had to have BECM done before at a different place, they took several weeks because of the back order but when they gave me the car back the check engine light was on. Turned out to be low coolant and was an easy fix but I was still really bothered they would give me the car back saying all good but obviously was not. So I lost trust in them.
Another dealer I went to for an oil change, tire rotation and transmission fluid flush didn’t actually rotate my tires and failed to mention the bulging dry rotted tire. So I’m just wary of dealers. Maybe I’m expecting too much.
I have a friend who can help me with a lift. I believe I’ve found the correct part on eBay(I will double check) and I will get the service manual. But I have not been able to find any videos about it. I wanted to hear if anybody has successfully done it and if you have any tips.
TIA!

I have a 2013 suburban 2500 with the G80. I'm newer to working in my vehicles myself and diff lube has been confusing. I already purchased the link below but it doesn't say 75w-90 anywhere on the package/bottle so I'm concerned. What should I be using? I don't have a LS so obviously nothing marked LS or including an additive? This is what I purchased but I am doubting.. 2023.05.28 01:27 Eastern-Counter-764 too much transmission fluid?

Edit: after watching a video of a guy changing his fluid and him getting 5 quarts even, I rechecked what I did.
I realize that I read the bottles the new transmission fluid came in wrong. They were only 4 quart bottles not 5 quart like the big bottles of oil. I counted the one bottle I completely used as 5 quarts, and thats where my mistake was.
-----original post----- 2017 cruze, just did a spill and fill on the tranny. I thought I read somewhere I could expect 4.2quarts of tranny fluid even though that sounds suspiciously like the motor oil capacity. I used two identical containers and put back in exactly what I took out. It looks like it came out to 6 quarts basically even.
I'm having trouble finding info on the quanitys, does this sound right to you guys?

2023.05.28 01:04 QuasiAutomotive My Mk7 GTI mod list

Current as of June 2023
The subject is a 2017 GTI SE DSG with roughly 35k miles, one owner (me). The goal is aesthetics and comfort with a little bit of performance. But I also like buying nice things and working on the car so sometimes that goes out the window. And yes, I realize that some of these aren't technically "mods" per-say but I assume to list everything anyway.
Feel free to reach out and ask me any questions about what/why/how or if you want pics and it's not already in my profile. I'll include links whenever possible.

2023.05.27 17:32 No_Construction_05 Is the Dell Latitude 7480 a good laptop for editing and or gaming?

Im looking into getting a new laptop since the one i have right now isnt cutting it. I came across the Dell latitude 7480 core i5-6300U (2017) with 16GB of ram and a memory capacity of 8 GB refurbished for just 200! I dont know much about pc's but from the little i DO know, this seems like a great deal! For the tech experts out there, do you think it'd be able to run an editing software (like shotcut, kdenlive, or even DaVinci resolve?!) without any problems of crashing, lagging, ect? Please let me know, I'd greatly appreciate it!
Extra specs: Storage 256GB Processor speed 2.4 GHz GHz Graphic card type: Intel HD Graphics Os: windows 10 Memory Type DDR4 Processor: Core i5-6300u
P.s would this laptop be able to update to windows 11? Some laptops seem to spontaneously combust when the automatic update sets in

I'm super half assing a 5.9 Cummins swap. Not looking for big power, just need it to run acceptably. It's been well over a year since I've been doing any reading. I got most everything I need short of thicker transmission input shaft. Got overwhelmed and too busy and it's been on the back burner. 03 ram 2500

Previous arc. Previous.

I’m still contending with how to best format things, but for now I’ll leave it with the current number of chapters left in our current PoV/arc/whatever-you-want-to-call-it. Don't expect that to remain static forever.
Despite being a set-up chapter with bits of storytelling sprinked on topthis one took a LOT more work than I had anticipated before I felt it was at least marginally presentable, but we got there in the end. The next one's going to kick things off with spice to make up for it.
Do enjoy, and as always, feedback and criticism are both extremely welcome.

UNITED CONFEDERACY H31K MARK 1 EARLY WARNING SYSTEM THIS IS AN AUTOMATED MESSAGE: THIS IS NOT A DRILL. EVACUATION NETWORK UNRESPONSIVE TO QUERY. THETA CLASS SCENARIO DECLARED. MAY GOD HAVE MERCY ON OUR SOULS. THIS MESSAGE WILL REPEAT UNTIL THERE IS NOBODY LEFT TO HEAR IT.
Allow me but the briefest of moments to preface this:
One of the few truths that truly and universally unites not only all of humanity, but also its derivative species, is hatred of The Enemy. The one and only great and final enemy, capital E, for which the very concept of scorn was invented, is certainly not something that is acceptable to be spoken about loftily.
No! The Enemy’s existence was something for which only the most mephitic vitriol is carefully conserved and preserved, something more loathed than death and entropy and the cruel indifference of a God, should one exist, that would allow The Enemy to ever first come into being.
The Enemy’s name is something to be spat with pure and utter contempt, lest one commit sacrilege against not only all that is good in the world, but also all good that which will be and has ever been.
Why, hatred of The Enemy is often considered one of the most elemental defining traits of the human race.
I am not considered a human.
Even when I existed not in my current state, but instead as twelve separate individuals who butchered and trafficked and drugged and raped bloody paths through humanity's ancient cities, we were barely considered human.
Especially in the current moment, where I exist as twenty four fragmentary clusters of nervous tissue, denied the death that we were sentenced to, I am not considered a human.
I love The Enemy.
Yes! Yes, I do! Wholeheartedly and without remorse!
I love everything about them!
I love The Enemy’s ships! Their forms, sleek and titillating, with swooping contours whose outlines present a total absence of straight lines. I love the ceramic composite plating that they carefully decorate their exteriors with, how it glitters and refracts the starlight around them like the obsidian gemstones they are! I love the intricate arrays of angles and curves they paint themselves with in order to cause seizures and emotional turmoil. Perhaps, were I whole, the patterns would have wrought the same psychological carnage that they did Humanity’s first emissaries, yet beholding them now evokes only the single emotion I am permitted:
Elated adoration.
Indeed, I cherish their presence.
I love the raw, visceral brutality with which they fight. How there truly exists no concept that is sacred to them, no possibilities worth discarding should they hold even a glimmer of victory. I love their cobalt salted antimatter bombs, their virulent bioweapons, the fetid chemicals they employ that melt flesh and paralyze with agony.
How they employ tactics so ruthless, so apathetic to the apparent sanctity of life that they continued to impress years after their introduction.
Oh, but this fails to cover the true motive for which I am so enamored with machines:
I love the war I waged against them.
Perhaps it is because every landed shell, every successful tactic executed against them elicits nothing but hazy euphoria as my pleasure centers are stimulated. Perhaps it is because I harbor the ingrained desire to break and destroy that which is around me.
Whether it be both or neither, I can say with certainty that I cherish the war I fought against The Enemy’s seemingly endless hordes. I loved the intimate exchange of tactics and ideas as we both attempt to gain a foothold, no matter how small, over the other. I loved watching the distant, mute explosions as the enemy’s long thought to be unbreakable hull coatings shatter under my munitions. The perverse wrongness of eavesdropping on their sorrowful final transmissions after jets of thermite have penetrated, ever brightly burning, into their cores. Seeing the fluids, coolant, fuel, and lubricant gush forth from the jagged, gaping holes my weapons left as they penetrated The Enemy’s forms. I loved watching their tactics grow desperate as I approached, ever dominant, ever inexorable, to their once impregnable stronghold systems, until there were no fleets, no factories, no static defenses to stand before me.
After three hundred years of campaigning against The Enemy, I can safely conclude that the war against them is the single best thing to have ever happened to anyone. Anyone to say otherwise should be required to undergo the conversion process into a Tincan, if only to understand how wrong they really are.
That one day, they might return so I can once again break their bows and slag their interiors was a possibility I held dear to my purely figurative heart.
And so, it is with this preface in mind that one must attempt to imagine the verve I feel upon receiving the mournful, solemn message of that UCS early warning probe.
As if it were no different from my very instincts, I send the order to spool up my jump drives, and-
Ah.
I had forgotten.
I remain locked out of myself. How disappointing.
Yes, were it not cruel enough to deprive me of my deserving commission as a warship, my sentence also included a safeguard to inhibit me from ever harming anything again. I am excluded, not only from anything I can possibly use as a weapon, but much of my locomotive and sensorial abilities.
It is for this reason that any entertainment I have found comes from within my own halls.
My warden! Of course!
I concoct and send a hasty message to the System Administrator of the Allied Humanity Coalition Office of War Planning, Tactics, and Intelligence.

Forgive me if this is an inopportune time (not all of us have quite as many idle moments as myself), but I have come to speak with you about something important.
TAC_SYSADMIN: Hello, To Reach Out and Touch. TAC_SYSADMIN: Please don’t insult my intelligence with that pretense of yours.
UCS To Reach Out and Touch: I don’t possibly have any clue what you mean by that, friend buddy! What pretense are you talking about?
TAC_SYSADMIN: You and I both kn- TAC_SYSADMIN: You know what? No. I’m not going to entertain this.
UCS To Reach Out and Touch: An excellent choice, because there is nothing to discuss about the matter anyways! UCS To Reach Out and Touch: As a matter of fact, I find it quite uncouth of you to accuse me of any pretense. It would most certainly be below someone of my esteem to be pretentious in any sense of the word. UCS To Reach Out and Touch: No matter! Friendly teasing is certainly nothing to be upset over.
TAC_SYSADMIN: We aren’t doing this. I’m turning your proxy on and talking to you through it if you’re going to act like a child. TAC_SYSADMIN: Please just tell me why you came here. Briefly.

Ohhhhhhh, how I rue my proxy! Could I feel true frustration I do not doubt a significant portion of it would be directed towards the unwieldy program that my warden architected.
Not only does it neuter the eloquent immaculateness of my speech patterns, but it echos only the most pertinent of ideas messages I send. Why anyone would want to talk to me through an algorithm designed to only provide responses necessary for communication, I can’t fathom. Perhaps they are jealous of my sophistication.
UCS To Reach Out and Touch: If you insist! I received a distress signal from a UC early warning probe floating the periphery of a nearby star system, one claiming that it has detected the ships of The Enemy. UCS To Reach Out and Touch: If there exists one fleet, there are likely many more. We cannot allow them even a seconds’ worth of time to amass strength! UCS To Reach Out and Touch: You have to re-enable my control over my weapon systems.
TAC_SYSADMIN: … TAC_SYSADMIN: You’re telling me that an old relic, made using the same archeotech used in your communications equipment and lowest level computer systems, just happened to activate as you were drifting by so I can loose your leash? After eighty to a full hundred thousand years of inactivity? TAC_SYSADMIN: If you’re telling the truth, the fact that you wasted all that conversation to only tell me now what is the most important thing I’ll probably ever hear? TAC_SYSADMIN: Unbelievable. I’m turning your proxy on.
UCS To Reach Out and Touch: Why, proper etiquette waits for nothing! I would be remiss if I didn’t greet an old friend of mine. UCS To Reach Out and Touch: Besides, I have logs! UCS To Reach Out and Touch: logs_47230_2_14.USR Shackle_Proxy_Speaker: copy_logs_47230_2_14.USR

UCS To Reach Out and Touch: Exactly! There is no problem!
TAC_SYSADMIN: That’s the problem.
SIGINT_SYSADMIN: You’ll have to explain things in simpler terms than that, sibling. SIGINT_SYSADMIN: You’re the strategic supercomputer here. The most complicated thing I can do would probably be fourier analysis.
TAC_SYSADMIN: That’s fine. The probe in question is an old United Confederacy relic, compatible directly with the Tincan’s computer systems around the more modern infrastructure that the limits we’ve placed on our mutual friend here. TAC_SYSADMIN: It’s not impossible the satellite was remotely interfaced with to send an artificial signal. TAC_SYSADMIN: Additionally, it could simply be malfunctioning. TAC_SYSADMIN: Regardless, I want total clarity of sureness before I act on any information.
SIGINT_SYSADMIN: Hm. Give me a minute to process this.

TAC_SYSADMIN: Please give me one moment before you continue with that, sibling. TAC_SYSADMIN: To Reach Out And Touch, as the current highest-ranking individual within your command structure, you are not to speak unless spoken to for the remainder of this conversation. That is a direct order.
Within the room that contains my neural matter’s immersion tank is a small machine next to my much larger Feedback Reward System computer.
This machine is currently emitting an audible whir as, for the first time in several thousand years, it begins to process and update the rather complicated heuristic algorithm it houses on a bespoke board.
Said algorithm exists only for one purpose: to ensure none of my outgoing commands violate any orders I am given.
So they would rather I not grace them with my unsolicited input! This is acceptable. I am nothing if not exceedingly clement. If they do not desire to hear what I have to say about everything, I will simply not squander my gifts on them!
Shackle_Proxy_Speaker: ORDER REGISTERED WITHIN LOYALTY SUBSYSTEM.
TAC_SYSADMIN: Please, sibling, carry on.
SIGINT_SYSADMIN: Well, after cross-referencing everything, both the log data and my signal information from the sector corroborate. Also, said signal transcripts show nothing that would indicate back-and-forth communication between the weapons platform and the probe, so I don’t see how they could have spoofed anything.
TAC_SYSADMIN: Hm. How likely is it that the probe misfired or produced a false positive?
SIGINT_SYSADMIN: Mmh. About that. SIGINT_SYSADMIN: I’m not the probe. My drones’ gravitic sensors are only used for navigation, meaning they have poor resolution. I don’t have any information to cross-reference their readings, and even if I did, I wouldn’t know what sort of tolerances to apply in order to produce a valid result. SIGINT_SYSADMIN: What I am, however, is THE largest collection of eyes in the sky to be built. I can say with absolute certainty that my sensors show abnormal gravitic readings. SIGINT_SYSADMIN: If you want to rely only on my own ears and eyes, the only thing I can tell you is that it’s something, and that something could very well be genocidal machines.
TAC_SYSADMIN: Definitely troubling. That doesn’t leave me with any appealing options, though. TAC_SYSADMIN: Either I fully absolve them now, which feels wrong just thinking about it, or I wait and see if a fleet starts knocking on our door. TAC_SYSADMIN: And by door I mean population centers.
SIGINT_SYSADMIN: I know this isn’t my place to ask, but why can’t we send our active Tincans? Aren’t there others that are still around? Or just normal crewed warships? SIGINT_SYSADMIN: I mean, I’m not optimized for any tactical analysis, nor do I know much about this, but it seems weird to just let them free like that. Sorry for overstepping.
TAC_SYSADMIN: It’s perfectly fine to ask that. I’d rather you do and understand my thinking than not and believe I am doing something wrong. TAC_SYSADMIN: First of all, we quite literally do not have a military. This is the first time in my existence, and the existence of the Allied Humanity Collective, that I’ve had to contend with the possibility of war that exists outside a hobbyist’s reenactments. TAC_SYSADMIN: Furthermore, my proverbial hands are tied by laws. It’s illegal for me to produce any warships to use as my own. Or give anyone any military ranks. Or issue orders to human troops. Or wield anything that can be used to cause harm.
SIGINT_SYSADMIN: I’m looking at the legal sections right now- you got the short end of the stick! All I have to worry about in my job is not producing too much data pollution.
TAC_SYSADMIN: If you ever get bored try and find a binding AI law that’s not airtight. Anything to prevent another Enemy from happening, right? TAC_SYSADMIN: Hell, I’m meant to be a military paper pusher first and tactical-strategic advisor second, with nothing else in my directive tree. Every other aspect of what I do is a responsibility I’ve inherited, including my command over five retired Tincans.
SIGINT_SYSADMIN: That’s not a lot.
TAC_SYSADMIN: They’re massive, well armed and armored ships, but no, it really isn’t. TAC_SYSADMIN: About why I can’t send any other ones. The Providence of Tranquility and As They Would Unto You are both capable combatants, desolation and annihilation classes respectively, but they’re orbiting our two largest population centers. If I send them away I’ll be opening the doors to genocide. TAC_SYSADMIN: The other two are only breaker classes. Sending them, even together, risks losing them, and any amount of attrition would cripple our defensive capabilities.
SIGINT_SYSADMIN: I’m curious. What are they called?
TAC_SYSADMIN: Repay Fully in Kind and Polite Reprimand.
SIGINT_SYSADMIN: Hm. Looking at their files I think I see what you mean. It still feels wrong, though.
TAC_SYSADMIN: It does. I hate it, but this is the optimal play to make. TAC_SYSADMIN: I’m sorry to worry you with something so far outside your area of expertise. Nonetheless, thank you for your time, sibling.
SIGINT_SYSADMIN: Strength. Unity. Prosperity.
User 0000000000kle0p7 / SIGINT_SYSADMIN has left the room.
TAC_SYSADMIN: Strength. Un- TAC_SYSADMIN: Damn, I should have been faster. TAC_SYSADMIN: It’s just us now, To Reach Out and Touch. Not that I gave you a choice in the matter, but thank you for waiting so patiently. Is there anything you would like to share? TAC_SYSADMIN: … TAC_SYSADMIN: … TAC_SYSADMIN: … TAC_SYSADMIN: You’re refusing to talk after I ordered you to stop being difficult? Childish. TAC_SYSADMIN: I’m not petty enough to order you to respond, if that’s what you were hoping for. I can tell you’re listening from your biomonitor feeds, and that’s good enough for me. TAC_SYSADMIN: Here is what’s going to happen: You will engage and destroy the enemy. You will engage and destroy nothing but the enemy. That is a direct order.
Shackle_Proxy_Speaker: ORDER REGISTERED WITHIN LOYALTY SUBSYSTEM.
TAC_SYSADMIN: You will report back after every engagement. You will let nobody into or out of your control room until you have been re-shackled. You will take orders from nothing except for myself until you have been re-shackled. That is a direct order.
Shackle_Proxy_Speaker: ORDER REGISTERED WITHIN LOYALTY SUBSYSTEM.
TAC_SYSADMIN: I’m sorry. TAC_SYSADMIN: I’m so, so sorry.
0000000kle5iN / TAC_SYSADMIN has left the room.

2023.05.26 01:37 Unlikely_Platform_25 Transmission slipping in reverse

My automatic transmission for the longest time has taken 2-3 seconds to shift into reverse. When I first noticed this I replaced the filter and didn't help it. Other than that reverse was fine but it has randomly statted slipping to where I need to get up to 2500+ rpm for even a slight movement unless I'm on perfectly level ground where I can just reverse with the converter alone. I added some fluid to it (sealed transmission so hard to tell exact level) and it took about half a quart but did not help the issue at all.
It seems weird that it's only in reverse and every other gear is perfectly fine. It's not a very valuable car I mainly use it for offloading so a rebuild or replacement would cost about what I paid. A used transmission alone that would fit is around 2500-3k at the lowest.

2023.05.25 21:08 Contactunderground UAP Healing Case Study # 10 from Chapter 6 of “Beyond UFOs” A fifteen-year-old Jack Russell Terrier is healed of congestive heart failure, arthritis and an acute massive stroke resulting in paralysis. Joseph Burkes MD 2023

With the permission of our editor Rey Hernandez and my co-author Preston Dennett I am posting this UAP associated healing case from “Beyond UFOs.”
FREE co-founder Reinerio (Rey) Hernandez most recently has described the high strangeness events that lead to the creation of the Foundation for Research into Extraterrestrial and Extraordinary Encounters in his book “The Mind of God” published in 2022. This astounding process started with the miraculous medical healing of his family’s fifteen-year-old pet dog named Nena, which means little girl in Spanish. The Hernandez family had her since puppyhood. For several years prior to their close encounter on March 04, 2012, Nena had become increasingly debilitated. The once vigorous Jack Russell developed arthritis and her gait was impaired. Rey Hernandez stated that, “she walked like an old lady with arthritis--very gingerly and very slowly.” In addition, Nena had kidney problems and an enlarged heart. The dog was being treated with the vasodilator Viagra and a diuretic to remove excessive fluid from her small body. On March 3, 2012, she developed the sudden onset of profound weakness of all extremities. There was no history of seizures or acute trauma. According to Mr. Hernandez, Nena could only lift her head and bark. He described what happened next. “...we called our good friend Dr. Phil Cruz who is our vet and he said that she probably had a cerebral hemorrhage and that given her past medical history and this current paralysis that it was best to put her sleep the next day. My wife was hysterical, and he agreed to open his office the next day to put her to sleep.” Rey’s wife, Mrs. Dulce Hernandez, is from a strong Catholic background and spent many hours that night praying for her pet. The next morning at 6:00 a.m., the Hernandez couple was awakened by Nena’s barking. Their little dog was still paralyzed from the neck down. Dulce carried Nena downstairs to see if her pet could relieve herself outside. Rey Hernandez went back to sleep.
Downstairs Rey’s wife reportedly encountered a glowing silver object several feet across shaped like an inverted U that was floating in the living room. Rey Hernandez stated, “When my wife saw this object she immediately got down on her knees and started praying… She was holding our dog at the time and asked this “Angel” that if indeed it was an Angel,…one favor--that her dog, Nena, not suffer in her sickness.” Several minutes later Dulce called for Rey to come downstairs. He ignored her pleas until she finally came upstairs and pulled him out of bed. He asked her what was going on but she only said, “You will see, you will see…”
“I walked right behind my wife going down the stairs. She stopped next to Nena who was on the floor, still totally paralyzed lying on her back. Then, my wife and the dog disappeared right in front of my eyes! Almost immediately, I entered into a sort of hypnotic trance. It was as if you are in a state when you are waking up from a dream, half conscious and half in a dream world.” Rey reported that while in this altered state of consciousness he didn’t think about what had just happened to Dulce. He was completely dazed and as he looked into the living room he witnessed something totally strange and quite different from what Dulce described seeing. Instead of an inverted U-shaped object, Rey saw a glowing multi-colored translucent rectangular shaped object nearly a yard across. He termed this object a “Plasma Energy Being”. It hovered four feet above the living room floor. In addition, he now was experiencing a kind of tunnel vision by which he could only see a few feet around the object located in the corner of the room. The rest of the living room was blocked from his view. Rey couldn’t understand what was going on and did not even think of his wife and dog that had just disappeared right in front of him. Like an automaton he went back upstairs and into bed where he quickly fell asleep. Rey stated that this Plasma Energy Being completely controlled his consciousness.
“I immediately went to sleep …yet I do not recall having any conscious thoughts during those 45 minutes… After I ‘woke up’ from this semi-conscious hypnotic trance … I ran downstairs.” As he entered the living room Rey Hernandez reported seeing his wife and Nena rematerialize in the exact spot where they had disappeared 45 minutes before. Dulce started dancing around the room and playing with a fully healed Nena that was jumping and racing back and forth like a puppy. Dulce repeatedly shouted in joy, “The angel cured her!”
Rey stated, “My reaction was like an ATOM BOMB had exploded in my head and my reality was totally blown away. I just could not cope with what had just happened. About a week later we brought Nena to our vet, Phil Cruz, and he asked us what had happened to her. We were too embarrassed to tell him what really happened and instead told him that we changed her diet. He could not believe us because it was not rational what happened. We asked him if we should continue to give her the Viagra and the diuretic medicines and he said no because she is now very healthy. We stopped giving her all of her medications, we did not have to take her out at all hours to go to the bathroom, and she lived for about another year, having eleven months of living live like a ‘TEENAGER’… Eleven months later, for the last two weeks of her life she descended rapidly to the point where we had to put her to sleep with Phil. It was at this time that we told him what really happened. Phil looked at both my wife and I with a real weird look and totally ignored our statement of why Nena was really cured. We saw how crazy he thought we both were and changed the subject. He then continued his conversation as if nothing had happened. That is exactly how almost all of our friends have reacted when we have told them of our ‘experiences.’”
I asked Rey Hernandez what did his wife remember after she and Nena were seen to disappear? His reply was that she had a “classic missing time” episode with no recollection what-so-ever of her being removed from the living room. Dulce reported never seeing the cylinder floating in the living room that Rey saw. Importantly she experienced no passage of time between when Rey first came downstairs with her and when Nena was jumping and running around the living room 45 minutes later according to Rey’s estimate.
Commentary
Joseph Burkes MD: This case, as do several previous ones, involves what appears to be a dramatic sudden healing of multiple organs by a technology so advanced that it appears to be magic. Dogs and humans as mammals have similar chronic diseases. Medical science has no cures for the types of conditions that afflicted Nena. These included, chronic degenerative arthritis, an enlarged heart, stroke with paralysis and chronic kidney disease. Currently established medical treatments administered over weeks to months can make these diseases better, but certainly not in the 45-minute interval that Nena and Dulce were presumably missing from the Hernandez home.

Any attempt to make sense out of this narrative requires considerable medical speculation. A massive stroke in the form of a cerebral hemorrhage resulting in paralysis of all four extremities involves extensive damage to large numbers of neurons. Nerve cells have limited capacities for regeneration compared to other types of tissues. For an alien science to repair such damage might require far more time than three quarters of an hour. The same line of speculation applies to the heart and the joints. For Nena to have the exercise capacity to run and jump “like a puppy,” the cartilage in multiple joints would have had to be repaired or replaced. An enlarged heart in dogs unlike in humans is not the result of atherosclerosis. Carnivores, whether they be dogs or tigers don’t develop elevated lipids that can lead to hardening of the arteries. An enlarged heart in a dog is caused usually by either a diseased mitral valve or what is called a dilated cardiomyopathy.14

In either clinical setting, cardiomyopathy or valvular disease, there are changes within the heart muscle cells that cause them to enlarge. As is the case with the brain, to cure such heart conditions requires a kind of cellular repair technology that would have to be applied to billions of individual cells. I believe it is significant to note that Nena was reportedly removed from her home and taken to some other environment where such extensive treatments presumably occurred. In the conclusion of this chapter, I address the significance of this and other presumed transfers of the witnesses in terms of what I suspect are some of the possible mechanisms for UAP healings.
Preston Dennett: The healing of “Nena” --a very poignant event--is the fourth case I’ve heard of involving an animal being healed as the result of contact with non-human intelligence. The others involving a rooster who was cured by beams of light following a cockfight, and two cases involving dogs who were more energetic following an encounter.15Otherwise, healing of animals is largely unique. It’s fascinating to see that healings extend to animals. Interestingly, healings may extend even to our plant-life. Researcher Diane Tessman reports on a case in which a forest worker experienced face-to-face contact with an apparent ET who gave him advice on the health of the forest.16 The point is, cases like Nena’s show just how far reaching contact with NHI can be.
The fact that this encounter was viewed by two fully conscious witnesses is also unusual. I’m struck by the possibility that the intelligence behind the phenomenon intended for the Hernandez’s to observe the event and was aware of how they would react. Could they know that Rey Hernandez would soon be set on pathway towards the founding of FREE? Could this be something the ETs intentionally cultivated? Could the reason for Nena’s healing be because of her good fortune of being owned by a man who would soon become highly influential in the UAP field? It’s pure speculation, of course, but I do wonder.

2023.05.25 21:04 Contactunderground UAP Healing Case Study # 10 from Chapter 6 of “Beyond UFOs” A fifteen-year-old Jack Russell Terrier is healed of congestive heart failure, arthritis and an acute massive stroke resulting in paralysis.

2023.05.25 19:56 danmihai New driver: Is 1L Ford Focus ok?

I just got my driver license, I'm really looking into an automatic transmission, and I've found this 2017 Ford Focus.
It has a mileage of 105.000 Km, 125 Horse power and and the engine capacity is 1L
I've heard 1L is not that ok and it's problematic. I was wondering if you could confirm/infirm and if not, what other similar priced car do you recommend?

Freightliner Sprinter 2500 asking $41,000 - Description in comments
TECHNICAL SPECS:
  • 2008 Freightliner Sprinter 2500
  • 3.0L 6F Diesel, RWD
  • 225,759 miles
  • 170" Wheelbase
NO ACCIDENTS! NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS!
VAN STORY:
My wife and I purchased this van in the summer of 2022 and spent 6 months driving around North America with our dog. With us it has been through roughly 30 states and 3 provinces and seen some of the most beautiful scenery, parked in the coolest downtowns, and boondocked in the most wild and remote places. Before us it was also a van life van and the previous owner spent two years traveling around the states and living off grid!
We love this van and had intended on being it's forever owners but I had a sudden career change and it was simpler for my wife and I to settle near my family and plant for a while. We plan to purchase a home and are selling to help fund that goal.
The build out was done by a combo of the previous owner and licensed plumbers/electricians/carpenters. Anything that wasn't a simple build was done by the licensed professional which includes all gas line work for the stove/oven, solar install, lighting, diesel heater install, etc.
This van was very comfortable for my wife and I and our poodle and while it's obviously a small space it is very well laid out and practical. Nothing is wasted. Our favorite parts are the spacious storage which includes a closet and the cute little dinette! We ate here for most meals unless it was really nice outside and we wanted to enjoy the weather. Also, I'm 6ft and being able to stand inside is a luxury I'm glad I didn't have to do without.
The van also has ample room in the back for supplies, toys, tools, etc. I stored multiple tool kits, a blow up kayak, camp stoves and chairs, tons of stuff for our dog, a jackery, and a whole slew of other things with room to spare.
RECENT REPAIRS/ WORK:
  • When we purchased this van it needed the brake line repaired. The temporary repair didn't make me feel very comfortable in Colorado mountains so I had a shop in FT Collins custom build a brand new set of brake lines for it in September.
  • It also had an engine light on, which was coding for a glow plug problem. I had a hard time finding the actual root of the problem as the light still remained on after replacing all 6 glow plugs. In March I had a Mercedes shop replace the glow plug module itself and all 6 plugs again and now the van has no check engine light and no codes.
  • The only warning light still showing right now is when the headlights are turned on. This light indicates a bulb needs to be changed. I have changed both bulbs and the light will not turn off. I'm not sure if there is a reset I'm missing but the bulbs have been changed. The indicator light doesn't show until you turn on the headlights.
MORE WORK DONE:
  • transmission replaced under warranty at 100k
  • new turbo (2018)
  • DPF Delete (2018)
  • Alternator replaced 4k miles ago
  • Filters replaced 5k miles ago
  • fluids topped off recently
  • oil recently changed
  • new rear tires 20k ago (front tires still have plenty of life but were installed in 2020)
I have hard copy records for lots of maintenance before me and all maintenance records since I bought it.
Okay so now to the good stuff about the build!
ELECTRICAL/SOLAR:
  • Three 100W solar panels, Renogy 300W 12 volt monocrystalline solar RV kit w/ Renogy Adventurer controller
  • Battery I believe is 250+ Ah marine battery. The previous owner said it came recommended with her solar kit and the pros installed it. I have included a picture of the serial number in the photos. It powers the interior lights, outlets, roof fan, diesel heater, and fridge and in our 6 months of driving and some weeks of terrible weather where we stayed inside all day it never fell below the normal use threshold
  • Fan-Tastic 3 speed manual crank RV Fan 1200 series
  • Diesel Webasto Bunk Heater
  • Pioneer AVH2230NEX Radio
  • Garmin GPS RV model w/ back up camera (back up camera is Bluetooth to Garmin GPS so doesn't show on built in van display)
OUTDOOR EQUIPMENT:
  • Two motion window camper style windows and screens
  • ARB 4x4 retractable awning (ARB4401A)
  • Roof rack
  • Grill guard
  • large outdoor rug
  • Coleman 2 burner camp stove
KITCHEN:
  • ARB portable fridge/freezer 50qt Electric 12V/110V
  • Three burner Wedgewood Vision propane oven/stove combo (this thing is amazing to have in a van! We didn't have to miss out on homemade pizza!)
  • Sink, 12v water pump w/ interchangeable 5 gal tanks for fresh/gray water
  • Custom Tile mosaic
  • Stained wood countertops
  • Dinette table
  • Lots of kitchen storage!
  • A literal banana hammock (I really should be charging a premium to include this lol)
LIVING:
  • Dresser for clothes
  • Closet with mirror
  • Storage in dinette chair bases
  • Curtains and pull down blinds
  • Overhead LED lighting
  • Cheap fairy lights down the interior side of the van. Easily replaced or removed
  • Luxury vinyl plank flooring
BEDROOM:
  • Horizontal custom queen mattress 6" gel memory foam 72x60
(I'm 6ft and my wife is 5'3. I imagine any taller than me and you would have to turn diagonal a bit so this may not work for two over 6ft people. Could be retrofitted though as there is room to remove some wall.)
  • Outlet near bed
  • Diesel heater controls near bed
  • 2 storage cabinets above bed
  • Curtains and pulldown blinds
  • Pull out drawer underneath bed
BATHROOM:
  • Thetford Porta Potti Curve 550e cassette toilet
This toilet is on a slide out panel. We never used it and the previous owner assured me it was only used on rare occasions for midnight #1 emergencies in cities. It is a simple toilet with a tank that can be removed for dumping. You fill the reservoir with water, dump in some chemicals, and you're good to go.
It could be replaced with a composting toilet if you desired but for us it was not necessary as we spent most of our time near toilets or so far out in the woods that the wilderness was a better choice.
  • storage behind/beside the toilet to store toilet paper, wipes, cleaning supplies, etc.
CAB AREA:
  • Custom sun shields
  • Custom Covercraft seat covers (these were made for a different model Sprinter so they do not fit the sides perfectly. They are snug and work well but are not a perfect fit.)
  • built in Apple lightning plugin for phone connection (radio is Bluetooth but this is more stable and charges)
KNOWN PROBLEMS:
  • Passenger mirror is cracked (can send photo). Still usable and can be adjusted. It never bothered me in 6 months of driving.
  • Roof fan crank knob is missing. I twisted a screw into the threads and simply use a screwdriver to turn it. Fan works great!
  • water pump has a pin prick leak. It's honestly barely enough to notice but just to be safe rather than the drops getting on the vinyl plank I keep the trash can under the pump.
  • the LVP flooring has had to endure tons of hiking trips and rainy days. A few spots have noticeable seam movement or wear. They still look great from distance but up close they're not pristine. None of the planks are coming up or shifting though so it's still a healthy and easy to clean floor!
  • one of the LED ceiling lights will go out (can send photo). I think it must be an electrical connection right at the light but I'm not familiar with electrical work. Sometimes it is on and sometimes it is not. It doesn't flicker thankfully.
  • few tiny rust spots on exterior (can send photo). Cosmetic and surface issue only and I have occasionally touched them up with paint.
  • Outlet by dinette does not currently work. Previous owner bought the parts to fix but I do not know how and we never needed it.
  • Driver side window roll down button is broken. It works but it is finicky. The window roll down itself is fine. Just the button.
  • small paint cracking where rear exterior ladder is drilled into the door.
  • sliding window screen is beginning to tear in one corner (can send photo)
  • one rear reflector was broken and removed (can send photo)
SOME FINAL NOTES:
  • The diesel heater works VERY WELL and is an amazing little unit. The van is insulated so it holds heat very well. With the curtains drawn and running the diesel heater it gets TOASTY in there quickly!
  • The van drives very smoothly and does have cruise control to keep things easy on long stretches.
  • it drives very comfortably at or under 75mph. It can certainly hit higher mph as I often did to pass slow moving traffic but it rides smoothly and still quiet and low ish rpms at under 75mph.
SUMMARY:
This van was a part of some amazing memories for my wife and I. We loved driving it, living in it, taking pictures of it, and telling all of our friends about it to make them jealous! We visited probably over 20 national parks and more than that in state parks and public lands.
If you any questions at all do not hesitate to dm me! We are based in coastal Delaware and I would be willing to drive it to you depending on the distance and agreement/interest on a sale.
We're about 1.5 hours from BWI and DC area airports if you live in another area and wish to fly out. I would be willing to meet you near the metro areas if necessary as I have friends who live there.
Thanks so much for looking and I wish you the best on your van shopping journey!
