2023.05.30 06:58 r1Zero How Picking an Antler Queen is Setting a Dangerous Precedent.

So, in another one of my tinfoil hat rabbit hole moments, I was thinking about how what happened in the last episode sets a dangerous precedent for the girls in the 96 timeline going forward.
By Lottie saying that the Wilderness chose Natalie to be their Antler Queen/SpeakeVoice, etc. It opens up lots of doorways that previously were not on the table for chaos to occur versus when it was accepted that whatever this was worked through Lottie and Lottie alone:
Overall, by introducing this new element of a shift in leadership, I think it's going to drastically impact the dynamics of the group at large and we are going to see some of the worst in the girls come to surface in the 96 timeline because of it. Especially now that they have lost their shelter and will have to make increasingly harder and harder choices, it will become so much easier to blame the person in power. To sway unhappy people and outright manipulation to get what they want.
What do my fellow Citizen Detectives think?

2023.05.30 06:48 lmnotrobot The Kinks - Arthur

The Kinks - Arthur
I was looking through my late grandfathers collection as I’ve started recently been getting into collecting myself. I noticed this one is a bit unique compared to the rest and I thought I’d share it with some of you. I’m not a big fan of The Kinks but I really liked the amount of inserts that were included.
I noticed this was a promotional copy, so not sure if that does carry any significance. My grandfather worked in the record industry and was a producemanager and everything in between. I’d estimate there are approximately 100-200 of these kinds of promotional copy records in the collection which I feel is unique. Some of them have a hole punched or have a corner cut off, others have the actual stamp that indicate they are for promotional use. I’d like to know the history behind this or whether they carry more value. Seems very interesting.

2023.05.30 06:33 JinseinoBakuhatsu Alien Force RANT (1-5)

Alien force is so bad and i'm frustrated, I just finished rewatching the original series and now moved on to Alien forced so far watched 5 episodes. They fucked everthing up.
Gwen - what have they done to you? they got rid of her personality and vigour, now she's just a generic boring insert female character who is the subject of love interests. Getting carried out of the fight on the ship by Kevin was embarrassing old Gwen would never let others dictate her actions. Speaking of Kevin, Gwen saying she likes Kevin and wants him to ask her out? Wtf am I listening to? the criminal and murderer that she met again for five minutes, is the guy she wants to date? could this get any dumber. This is not Gwen.
Also there's no more spell or spellbook, they've taken all the fun out of her magic to replace with generic purple energy, also retconing her to be an alien which is just nonsense. I hate her outfit aswell just a bland schoolgirl outfit with a skirt that wouldn't be comfortable or practical for her to jump around kicking people like she did before.
Ben - character is as i'd want, except his over obsession with Max, however they've taken ALL the fun out of the omnitrix. There's no more timing out, he ethier has control over it or it just times out at the right moment everytime, there's no drama any more, no tension.. he knows the name of the aliens BEFORE he turns into them and how to use their powers . This is lazy shit writing they've taken away the fun of learning the new aliens.
Kevin- gets over his hatred of Ben/ being locked away in a negative zone way too quickly.. likes Gwen immediately.. because? plot. Kevin wasn't a generic edgy bad boy he was a murdering psychopath and this progression makes zero sense. Also retconning more powers he absorbs ENERGY not matter.
PLOT - so far I have some issues, plumper badges retcon? why do they look like the omnitrix which the plumbers didn't know existed? not just a retcon it's a plot hole, apparently the plumbers liked to fuck aliens and now all their kids are half aliens with powers this is the dumbest part of the plot. The idea fucking aliens gives u powers, the fact they can even have kids with aliens genetically, the fact the plumbers wouldn't vermently forbid this.. plumbers kids are just normal clueless humans who have no clue what there parents did, this part of the plot is beyond moronic.

I will continue to hate watch this show but god I miss the original.. good thing I was a kid when this was out and didn't care about or notice any of this.

2023.05.30 06:01 LucyAriaRose AITA for making a separate portion of stuffing for my son?

I am not the Original Poster. That is u/throwawaymom_12. She posted in AmItheAsshole.
Mood Spoiler: hopeful
Original Post: May 19, 2023
I (33F) am married to John (35M). Together we have a daughter (3F) and are currently expecting our second child together. We both also have a child from previous relationships: I have Liam (8M) from my previous marriage, and my husband has Ava (10F).
I make Sunday lunch for my family every week. On Friday, Liam asked if I could make stuffing without onions this week. Liam doesn't normally eat stuffing. He tried it a few times, decided he wasn't a fan, and that was it. He tried it with his dad the weekend before (we have 50/50 custody, so our weekends vary) and liked it. I agreed, and on Sunday made my son his own stuffing without onions. It's no big deal, after all, and I'm happy to make separate portions of anything if it means my children eat more.
This is where the problem starts. We sit at the dining table and John points out that Liam has stuffing on his plate. Liam tells him that I made him stuffing without onions, because he likes it without the onions. Immediately, I noticed Ava's mood sour, and when I pressed her, she asked why I didn't make her stuffing without onions when she'd asked about it months ago. Now, I'd understand where she was coming from if she'd actually asked but I had no clue what she was talking about. I said as much, and she told me that she'd brought it up with John, who said he'd talk to me. John never spoke to me about it, and told Ava that it was 'too much work' for me to take out the onions just for her.
John said he didn't tell me because he thought it'd be too hard on me, wanted to make things easier, thought I'd only say no anyway. He even said that it didn't make sense to make a separate portion for just one person. He said it was stupid that I'd even done it for Liam. He said the kids should learn to either make do with onions or not have stuffing at all, because not everything in life is going to go their way. I called him an idiot. I then went to the kitchen and got the rest of the onion-less stuffing for Ava to try.
Later that evening, Ava went back to her mother's and told her what happened, which caused an argument between her and John (and they're not on good terms anyway). John has been angry with me since. He says it's my fault Ava (and her mother) is mad at him. He says I should've just left the 'd*mn stuffing' alone, that I'm just spoiling my son by giving into him like that. There's been some name-calling, but I'd rather not repeat what he said.
Liam must have told Mike what happened, too, because he's told me that he thinks John is overreacting. John's mother and older sister think I'm an a-hole, but his brother has told me to just ignore him. My parents are also on my side, because they used to make separate portions for me when I was a child if I didn't like a specific ingredient. My sister told me to post on here to see if the majority think I'm in the wrong or not. So, I dread to ask, am I the a-hole for making a separate portion of stuffing to suit my son's taste?
Relevant Comments:
Has your husband been saying things to the children about food behind your back? Is it a behavior he exhibited with his ex?
"I hadn't thought about that. Liam hasn't mentioned anything, but I'll have to have a talk with him just in case. I'll ask his father if he's said anything about John, too. Thank you!"
"I definitely will. I'm in charge of pick up this week, so it'll definitely be addressed before I head home. I'll be stopping at Mike's place to talk with him and Liam about John, and then I'll talk with Ava and her mom when I pick her up. There have been a lot of helpful comments and I've realised I need to talk to John's ex, too, to see if this is behaviour that he exhibited when they were married"
Is this anger a pattern of behavior for John?
"He has always had a habit of calling names when he's angry, but he never used to get angry all that often"
"John hasn't always been this bull-headed. He's kind and funny, and he loves the kids. But I'll admit there's been a change in him over the last few months."
"Thank you, I really appreciate it. He is normally very good to us, but he has been quicker to anger these past few months after I found out I was pregnant with our second child together. Hopefully it'll get better after our talk. Thank you again!"
Did you call him an idiot in front of the kids?
"I'll admit calling him an idiot wasn't my best moment. I didn't say it aggressively by any means, but looking back it was wrong to do so. Definitely a slip of the tongue and not something I practice often (especially in front of the kids). I was just blown away, honestly"
OOP decides what else to do:
"Thank you. As bizarre as this argument has been, it's definitely been an eye-opener. I'm planning on showing him these comments tonight when our daughter is in bed. I also plan to have a long talk and air everything out before Liam and Ava come home tomorrow"
Can you teach the kids to make their own food too?
"That's another thing! Liam and Ava do sometimes help out when I'm making the dinner on Sundays. If they're not otherwise engaged (because holding a child's attention can sometimes be a battle), they'll help me with peeling the potatoes or stirring the gravy, etc. John has always been hands-off on Sunday dinners!"
OOP is voted NTA
Update Post: May 23, 2023 (4 days later)
Hi everyone. Before I begin, I just wanted to thank everyone for the overwhelming number of comments and messages I received as a response to my original post. Because of the support and advice that a lot of you gave me, I wanted to come back and give you all an update on how things have progressed since then.
On Friday night, aka a few hours after I posted, I sat down with my husband after he put our 3yo to bed to talk about what had transpired and why he reacted the way that he did. We spent fifteen minutes just reading through comments and messages you guys left, and John was ashamed. He was also very hurt that his reaction (i.e. the name calling) was, in the eyes of the majority, bordering on abuse. He was disgusted with himself.
Now onto the onion debacle. I'm not going to quote everything he said word for word, but it boils down to this: John's dad was very strict when it came to meals. You ate what you were given, and that was that. If John or his siblings ever expressed their dislike for something on their plate, even if it was just one thing, then the meal would be thrown out and they'd go to bed hungry. His dad drilled into him the same "not everything goes your way" mentality that John expressed last week. No one ever told John any different growing up. His mom followed the same rules even after his parents divorced. His dad remarried and John's step-mom was just as bad. If John wanted something, it was an automatic 'no' from her. John didn't tell me about Ava's request because he didn't want me to shut her down as coldly as he was. I guess it was two traumas with one stone.
Then it comes to the anger. Again, I'm summarising here, but John attributes it to stress. He feels overwhelmed with the kids and the pregnancy, and his work has been particularly busy over the last few months. He feels constantly frustrated and doesn't know how to bring that down. But then he asked a question that really blew my mind. He asked if I was having an affair with my ex-husband/Liam's father. Apparently his mom (lovely lady) made a comment about how close we were, how it was 'unnatural', and it's been playing on his mind since. I'll admit that Mike (my ex-husband) and I are close. We're friends. We have a child together. But we don't love each other anymore. All of this I told my husband. I asked if I did something to make him not trust me on that.
Well, after four years of marriage, I found out why John and his ex-wife hate each other. She had an affair. He didn't want to tell me because he was embarrassed and he wanted to put it behind him. He also didn't want me to hate her and maybe have that ruin my relationship with Ava, because it was his pain (his 'burden') to carry. He's bitter because she never apologised and blamed him for the affair. He's apologised profusely for the pain he has caused me and our children. I apologised for calling him an idiot. We both agreed no onions on Sunday.
Despite this exhausting and enlightening conversation with John, I still sat down and spoke with Liam the next day when I went to pick him up from Mike's. Liam said John has never said anything 'weird' to him, nor has he gotten angry/yelled at him, he's never raised a hand. Mike said that Liam has never mentioned anything to him about John. He also said that Liam still brings up the time that John took him and Ava to the zoo when I was pregnant with our youngest.
I also decided to go ahead and talk with John's ex-wife, Izzy. I asked her if John was ever 'hotheaded' when they were together, and she said that he'd get angrier with stress. I then asked about the affair, because while I wanted to believe my husband unconditionally, I needed to hear it from her side. She admitted it. She said that she 'connected' with a guy from her job. She said she doesn't feel guilty about it, because it felt like John was waiting for an excuse to leave, because that's exactly what he did. They argued, and he left, and that was it. Neither of them fought for their marriage, and Izzy's bitterness is mostly due to the fact that, when they were in the process of divorcing, John ordered a DNA test on Ava because the affair made him question if he was really Ava's father.
There were no onions on Sunday. John has agreed not only to couple's counselling but to solo counselling as well. We're also considering family therapy, but before we commit to it, I want to get Mike and Izzy's opinions since they're the other parent of our respective children. John has also apologised to both Ava and Liam separately for the incident. He made the stuffing this weekend with Ava, no onions. It was nice. John even apologised to my parents for being a no-show last week. It's been very stressful, but I love my husband. I believe that he can grow from this. I know him to be kind, and funny, and just a good man overall. I hope from the bottom of my heart that things will be looking up by the time we welcome our son into this world.
Thank you to everyone who has left comments and messages again. I genuinely believe that your advice may have helped save our marriage. Or, at the very least, given me the strength I needed to save it myself.

Barber’s Star, 2382

Captain Jayme Dawson sat at the centre of the bridge of the destroyer NFNS Anders T. Christian and grinned to himself with a proprietary satisfaction at his crew’s performance during the drill he’d just run them through; tensions along the border had been growing for months, and he’d be damned before he’d give his people anything less than their best chance at survival. Destroyer Squadron 193, part of the task force sent to defend Barber’s Star, was picketing the system and watching the hyper limit. The Christian’s closest fellows, her sister ships Invincible and Redoubtable, were each a quarter of the way around the system in different directions, millions of kilometres away. Were she to encounter any trouble, the Christian would be on her own for hours.
Dawson saw his sensors officer stiffen in her seat, and rose an eyebrow. “Share with the class, Ensign?” he asked, pulling up the tactical plot on one of his own displays…and nearly had a much more unseemly reaction. Even as she was reading out the situation in a shaking voice, he was running through his options in his mind. “Th-three light cruisers just jumped in, Sir. They aren’t broadcasting any identification—power spike. They’re raising shields.”
A corner of his mind noted how much professionalism she managed to regain by the end of her report, but he had more important things to worry about. Those cruisers were not supposed to be in-system, and clearly had intentions far from peaceful. “Comms, get word to Admiral Miranda and broadcast the standard challenge. Ops, get me shields, and bring the weapons up; looks like we won’t be able to get out of this one if they turn out to be hostile.”
The look he gave at his crew was the grin of a cornered wolf. When they returned it with similar expressions of their own to the beat of the General Quarters alarm, he felt a strange assurance they wouldn’t disappear into the black alone.

Admiral Carmen Miranda listened to the briefing with an incredulity she couldn’t hide even behind the habitual snacking she partook in. After she squawked her distress, the Christian had engaged the cruisers and her signal had abruptly cut off. She’d made the obvious and prudent assumption Dawson had been defeated and his ship destroyed and sent a small force out to reconnoitre the area. Expecting to find the wreckage of a destroyer, they’d found a field of debris surrounding three light cruisers floating dead in space. Lifeboats screamed for help. The enemy’s lifeboats. He’d sent his report off to FLEETCOM at Charlemagne. The raiders had been defeated, themselves…but where was the Christian?

Barber’s Star, 2495

NFMS Hera’s Dream wallowed through normal space, as was the merchant ship’s wont and lot in life. The uneventful flight had left the Second Mate Sammy Ortega, officer of the watch, yawning. He hated routes like these, and glanced at the plot with a well-hidden resentment; Nine (the creatively-named ninth planet of the system) was on the outskirts of the Barber’s Star system, and it left him and his captain’s ship vulnerably near the hyper limit for nearly two-thirds of the trip. The perfect place to get jumped by pirates. Still, though, the system had grown into a defence nexus since the War of ‘82, and it needed the precious metals Hera’s Dream carried. It also meant that Fleet ships weren’t exactly rare in the system.
None of that, however, was much consolation when four pirate ships lit off their drives and began to burn hard to intercept the ponderous fleet supply ship travelling with no protection but the light asteroid shielding that allowed it to travel at a small percentage of light speed. Even before Johny Nelson, the man sitting at the sensor console, could give his trembling report, red icons littered the plot as the pirates’ fire-control radars swept across the unarmed ship’s hull.
“They’re hailing us, Sammy,” Nelson said quietly, the shake in his voice flattening into a disbelieving facsimile of a person’s speech.
Gritting his teeth, Ortega told him to accept the signal. A slovenly face grinned back at him through the command chair’s display when they made the connection. “Cut thrust and prepare to be boarded. Any resistance will be met with force,” he stated, then grinned savagely and licked his lips. “A lot of force.”
The connection closed even while the overwhelmed second mate opened his mouth to respond; before he could turn to the wide-eyed woman at the helm to order their acceleration halted, to give in to the pirate’s demands, Nelson stiffened. “Another contact, Sammy,” he reported. “I don’t think it’s a pirate—the vector’s all wrong. And she’s fast, Sammy.”
“A fleet patrol?” Ortega asked.
“No IFF,” Nelson replied.
“Get her on the horn, Johny,” Ortega ordered.
“Nothing on the comms…huh? That’s weird,” Nelson said, then leaned forward. A strange dread filled Ortega; why wouldn’t she answer hailing? Nelson’s eyes widened. “She’s got her shields up, Sammy!” he exclaimed.
The plot said she had enough power to be a destroyer, but even a true warship of her class should be cautious about engaging this many pirates! On she came nonetheless, shields glowing a curiously menacing red. On she came, hundreds of thousands of kilometres from either the Hera’s Dream or any of the pirate ships. On she came, speeding toward the centre of the pirate “formation.”
When the first beams reached out, Ortega reflected on the courage of that single ship. It was a rare thing, shown by very few even within the navies protecting the disparate human planets. Even as he snapped orders to the woman at the helm, who obeyed in a sort of fugue state incurred by the stress of the situation, he contemplated the stranger’s fearless behaviour.
Like a tiger to its meat, he thought to himself.
The unknown ship flew incredibly; Ortega thought that the helmsman must’ve lived that ship, for how she pirouetted and slipped mere metres aside to avoid the pirates’ beams. Never did that ship fear their guns or numbers, and when their beams inevitably impacted, the entire bridge crew of the Hera’s Dream cringed, expecting those ruby-red shields to collapse. To their astonishment, they held strong, and hot lances of fury struck out from that unyielding bubble, rending the aether. The crew could only watch and shake their heads as this strange, astounding ship cut the pirates to bloody shreds.
Just as quickly as the stranger had shown up and begun to fight the pirates, then the fighting was all done; the pirate fleet was shattered, and the unknown ship had won. Ortega instructed Nelson to attempt to hail the stranger again to thank them, but once again their hailing went unanswered.
“She’s matching velocity,” Nelson reported, his voice filled with the awe and stunned surprise the rest of the crew were feeling. She pulled alongside close enough the hull-mounted cameras could get a good look at her when she dropped her shields.
When she did, the only sound on the bridge was that of three souls collectively inhaling.
The hull of that strange ship was irrevocably marred by the scars of some long-ago encounter; thirty holes ran clear through her, and a large gash left one side missing much of its hull panelling. Every spacer aboard the Hera’s Dream looking knew, without a doubt, that when the ship sustained those grievous wounds everyone aboard had died.
“Mr. Ortega,” the helmswoman said, finally gaining her voice. When his eyes met hers, she gave him a shell-shocked grin. “Have you ever heard the tale of Dawson’s Christian?” she asked, then pointed at the monitor. Ortega was confused for a brief moment, before his eyes returned to the feed and widened.
Painted in white lettering across what seemed to be the only surviving hull space on their side, they could see the ship’s name…Anders T. Christian. That realisation seemed to course through not only them, but also the stranger; instead of flying away, though, the hull itself began to fade from reality before their very eyes. The stunned, silent crew of the Hera’s Dream laid witness to the grizzly sight that was the view of the outer compartments of the shattered ship. Bodies laid askew, floating in the zero-G vacuum, limbs burned off by the edges of beams or torn off by flying shrapnel.
Mercifully, further detail was hidden by the dead crew’s shipsuits.
The bulkheads began to shimmer from perception as the bridge crew aboard Hera’s Dream began to tremble.
The last thing to slip from view were the bones…dead white bones of Jayme Dawson and his crew.
There are stories of the Dutchman, the Celeste and Barnham’s Pride, stories of the Horseman and the Lady at his side…

Kuiper Yard, Sol, 2500

“...but the tale that chills my spirit,” Ortega finished, “and I swear to God it’s true, is the tale of Jayme Dawson and his crew.”
The spacers sitting around the table shared disbelieving glances, but in their years since working aboard Sammy Ortega’s ship, they’d never heard him tell any tall tales. Besides.
It was comforting to know that merchants had a protector.
Even if it was just a vengeful ghost.

2023.05.30 05:29 Wizard__x Newb boardwalk help

I have to build a boardwalk in a side yard over uneven terrain. It is 40 ft (give or take), starting at a fence gate and ending at a back patio. There's 9ft between the house and fence; half is garden bed/garage side dooAC unit, other half is where boardwalk goes. The terrain slopes down from the fence, dropping about a foot over 4ft. It also slopes down from the gate, dropping about 2" every 4ft. The path of the boardwalk goes directly over the natural drainage path. So that's the setup.
I would like to minimize digging, because 1) it's hot, 2) I'm lazy, and 3) it's just a boardwalk. My notion was to anchor things by driving rebar through the joists into the ground. However, I am not sure how I would go about leveling the boardwalk surface. As I understand it, typically this is done by tying the frame to the posts at the required height. Is there a device or construct I am unaware of that is relatively easy to install and will allow me to both anchor things and level them? Or am I doomed to dig a bunch of post holes?
Also, any advice on boardwalk best practices would be appreciated. I have some mild construction experience and a woodworking background, but decking is new to me.

I am building a custom top for my new desk, and I am debating if I want to add threaded inserts now, or just use wood screws and add them next time if I ever have to disassemble it (as the holes will already be mostly "predrilled" then).
Also wanting to get opinions on how far the legs should be from the edge of a 72x30 desk, I've seen everywhere from 2" to 12" from searching around google.

2023.05.30 04:28 Professional-Row8286 Tips And Tricks: Do Transition To Summer Decor

Tips And Tricks: Do Transition To Summer Decor
The summer is coming and we all love the summer vibe! If the spring gives you a feeling of cheerfulness and liveliness, the summer will be the one that gives you a feeling of refreshment and blazing. A lot of people prefer to renovate their home decor a little bit in summer decor to welcome natural light and there is maybe more space for family activities.

Tips And Tricks: Do Transition To Summer Decor
Thus, how to transition into a summer vibe is considered a sought-after topic. Let’s read these easiest tips and tricks to find out!

1. Swap All Thick And Heavy Textiles Into Lighter Fabrics

Having said that, the simplest way to transition your home decor from spring to summer is to switch out heavy fabrics, especially curtains.
Summer reminds us of comfort and coolness. Replace your thick blankets and pillows with lighter weight options, for example, linens or cotton with brighter colors and patterns to avoid heat.
With curtains, you pick out lighter-weigh options to take advantage of the extra sunlight, and your house will look stunning.

2. Put In Fresh Flowers And Greenery In Your House

Adding fresh flowers and greenery is considered an excellent way to add brightness and color to your home decor. It's a tendency for people to plant flowers and small trees in their gardens and even in houses to limit the heat. Gorgeous bunches of flowers and plant spots improve our mood and create a stunning centerpiece for your house.

3. Mix With Spring Decor

Reusing spring-themed decor is a convenient way to bring the perfect match into your home. Taking advantage of spring decorative pieces like vases, wall art, table runners, and table settings will save tons of money and satisfy your creativity.

4. Simplify All Your Decor And Stuff

Summer weather boosts our skin metabolism and then our bodies sweat easily. Therefore, cleaning up unnecessary items and storing them in storage is a great idea. A comfortable bed, desk, and table set are ideal. The more you simplify items and furniture, the more space you have. A stuffy, cramped, and cluttered room is a bad idea in the summer and it makes us feel like we’re in a tiny box.

5. Add Some Greenery

Bringing in some greenery is a great way to liven up any space. Consider adding potted plants, fresh flowers, or even a small herb garden to your kitchen. Not only will this add some color and life to your home, but it will also make it smell amazing.

6. Add Up Natural Textures

Summer is an excellent time to add some natural textures like rattan, wicker, or bamboo. They are wonderful highlights that draw the guests' attention and make your house feel like you are immersed in nature!
Last but not least, building a new patio or seating in the garden is a perfect option. You’re able to both enjoy nature and spend valuable time with your family. Imagine that you are reading books, and getting a great experience from a cup of coffee on a table with a table set mixing with natural textures on the patio! How amazing it is!

7. Where Can I Find A Place To Buy My Patio Furniture?

There are various stores that provide unique furniture designs. If you need to find a reliable store, Flowyline Design is your next adventure We’ve provided many metal table legs that help your patio space look more stunning and exquisite.

2023.05.30 03:57 nodiaque How to put electrical box on wall?

Hello everyone,
I'm currently renovating my basement and I'm finally at the electrical breaker box. This house is a mess and this box is no exception.
Regardless of how messy the wiring is in it, I'm at the stage where I must now put it back on the wall.
Currently, it's sitting on a little table I made for it when I tore down the wall, but it's 90% holding because of the pipe that goes through my basement wall for the main power line.
All house wiring come either from left or right side of the panel, requiring me to leave space around. The main come from the back of the unit and the second ground is on top.
There is one 100a that is left and very hard to move. I even wanted to reroute it cause it goes very weird way but I abandon that, these cable are too tick, I have a hard time moving them.
The mounting hole are 4 holes in the back. I currently have about 3/4in spacing between my insulation and the back of the unit. I though about putting 1x6 across the stud at the height of the mounting screws behind the stud (I have some spacing between the studs and the insulation because basement wall aren't straight). Then, I would screw on the 1x6. But is 1in powerfull enough to hold the electric panel?
Thank you

2023.05.30 03:53 Proletlariet Nemesis

Respect Nemesis!

A prototype intelligent bioweapon created by the sinister Umbrella Corporation. Let loose in Racoon City, it was given a single order: hunt down and kill S.T.A.R.S. members, more specifically Jill Valentine. Relentless and nigh-unstoppable, it took nothing short of an experimental, high-powered railgun to take the mutating terror down.
All feats come from the 2020 remake of Resident Evil 3 unless stated otherwise. The "cutscenes" category also includes scripted gameplay.

First Form

Nemesis's initial and most iconic form. He can produce a prehensile tendril from its body, seemingly only one at a time.

Third Form

Nemesis's final form, basically just an enormous blob with weird limbs and a tiny little head. Nemesis only ever enters this form after getting defeated by Jill and left in a chamber that gets flooded with acid. Since there's not really that much for him, I'm not going to bother with splitting it up by gameplay and cutscenes.

2023.05.30 03:01 Entire_Afternoon6127 Even the owners realize

I was sitting outside a waterfront deli on the patio this weekend next to some people who had a docile leashed golden retriever who laid quietly under their table and I asked to pet and he was so well behaved and they apologized profusely that he was even looking in the direction of my bagel.
When they leave this lady with her two toddler aged kids take their table and have a young male put mix on a retractable leash. She lets the kid around age 6 or so hold the leash while she goes in to get food, comes back out and she keeps giving the dog like seven feet of leeway on the leash. He straining all over, thankfully into some bushes and not toward me at first but I’m very alert in case. All the tables are very close.
Then I almost fell out of my chair as one of the kids goes “Mom how come people ask to pet dogs but they never ask to pet our dog?” I could not believe it came out of his mouth.
So then the mom explains loudly for everyone to hear “Well sometimes black dogs can be scary.”
(He was black and white), then she continues “Well, pitbulls can be aggressive, and they are strong and they can lock their jaw. But they have a bad rap.”
Next thing I know she gives him too much lead and he’s heading right for me and I instinctively scootch my chair away and she does apologize and says to the dog “Chase, no one wants to pat you.”
Then she decides to wrap the retractable leash around the base of the lightweight metal patio table a bunch of times to secure him. I got out of there in case he pulled the whole thing over.
The whole exchange was so odd but I feel like the owners and even the kids are starting to notice that people are more cautious or not interested in interacting with their pitbull like they would another dog.

2023.05.30 02:46 sourwaterbug Being proactive.

I know I've talked about my peppermint oil/soap and water concoction before and how being consistent and proactive in spraying wasp friendly areas is important. Well, so far it is working well, until these a-holes figured out they can build their starter home on the other side of my patio which is almost completely unreachable to spray, even from downstairs. Regardless, we have zapped 4.5 dead in the last couple days. Half because I'm not totally sure one of them is undead as it keeps flying away and coming back, probably looking for it's precious bitch queen and infant Satan spawn which we drenched in soap.
With that said, I don't trust the situation and can't enjoy my patio stress free at the moment. I even got special non-alcoholic sparkling wine for this evening, but these ruiners have made me paranoid. The mosquitoes are kind of bad right now too...anyway, just ranting. Thanks for coming to my venting session. This is my wasp shit posting safe space.

2023.05.30 01:30 theguywhoisi Autopot to Airpot conversion

Autopot to Airpot conversion
Autopot XL 4-pot with 5g fabric pots. I like the air pots so I wanted to make this work, and it wasn't bad at all!
I folded the bag down so it comes slightly above the rim of the base. Wrapped yhe copper colored sock around the bag before folding. 5 gallon Airpots are 11.8" in diameter - perfect fit on top of the base. The folded fabric will stop the medium from coming out the sides.
Worst adjustment was cutting the bottom of the Airpot leaving about a 2" rim around it. A pair of small wire cutters work, its not a strong plastic. That rests on the folded fabric and keeps dirt from that area.
I could have inserted the airpod into the base instead of on top of it but I would have to overlap a lot more on the pot. This seems like it almost made it a 3 to 4 gallon pot instead of a 5. With added space in the base it's slightly more than a 5g pot.
I may drill some small holes around the rim of the base and tie some training wire around it and the bottom airpot holes. But then the fabric pot and air base can't be installed or removed through it.
I won't be able to move it around unless I move the base but this seems like a winner to me. Using this on my next grow starting in a few weeks.

2023.05.30 01:02 ZachTheLitchKing [SerSun] Serial Sunday: Vindication!

Original Prompt

Chapter 13
"Bullshit," Bea refused to try and process what the chaotic fey had said.
"Not even slightly," Wan replied with amused confidence.
"You expect me to believe you're my great-granddad?"
"I am flattered that you already think so highly of me!
"You're lying."
"Why would I lie about that?"
"Because you're a liar."
"That is true! I am a liar. But I am also your ancestor. A few times over, in fact."
If Wan's goal was to defuse Bea, it worked. Her grip on the back of the chair relaxed and instead of throwing it at his little goblin head, she took a seat and crossed her arms.
"So how's that work?" she asked, still suspicious of his intent, "Like, you just get the hots for a woman one day, and now...here I am?"
"Oh my no! It is far, far more complex than you can conceive of, dear Beatrice."
"Don't call me that." Bea's eyes narrowed. "I'm not dear anything to you."
"Maybe you see it that way," Wan chuckled, "But the whole Accardo family is quite dear to me, I assure you."
Her temper flared up again and Bea saw red. But the red was not in her eyes; rather, the whole kitchen - the whole dreamscape - flared scarlet and seemed to tremble.
"Now calm down," Wan said in his amused tone, "You need to learn to control that."
"Why the hell do you care about my-...them?" Bea bit her cheek to prevent including herself in the family name. It was something she knew she could not escape, but she could try.
"Because your family history is my rise to...well, what I am now." Another self-satisfied smile stretched Wan's face. "A hundred generations ago I made a deal with your ancestor, a desperate man who wanted to win a war against a rival tribe. He thought it was unreasonable to give me one hundred hearts merely because he didn't have a hundred people to sacrifice at the time.
"The deal was that I would get one heart from each generation of his descendants. The least loved one, to be precise. That way they would not be missed. In exchange, I was to protect his bloodline. For the most part, it was easy. A few tricks here and there to spook potential rivals and whatnot. Some of the other tribes were getting assistance from their own fae deals, which I had to work a little harder to circumvent. But those are all trivial details, what matters is that your existence is proof that I've thus far kept up my end of the deal. Your bloodline, going back three-thousand-ish years now, has been under my protection."
"It's proof that you're full of it, maybe," Bea said, "None of that explains how you're my ancestor."
"I had to ensure your family's continued existence. Not every bloodline survived throughout history, and there were a few times when your ancestors were down to just one viable adult. And since I was owed a heart from each generation, sometimes I needed to...insert myself into your gene pool."
"Wait...so you killed my grandad's dad and took his place?"
"Nonsense!" Wan rolled his eyes again and rubbed the tip of his nose in frustration. "There is more than one way to get a heart. The literal way, of course, but in some cases I merely wooed your ancestors. Agatha Bouvier fell in love with me and I used the Accardo name from a dead branch of your family tree to keep things easier to track."
Bea sat there quietly, still not buying any of what Wan had to say. The Archfey could read this in her mind and waved a dismissive hand.
"None of this matters, what does matter is that your uncle learned of this truth. Mario bought his silence with one of his enchanted rings and now we have a problem. I am prevented from harming your family, save to collect my heart but I already took your aunt Tracey's. I need you to deal with Christian and keep your family safe."
"Sounds like a you a problem. I don't want anything to do with any of them. If I never set foot in the human realm again it'll be too soon."
"Not even to save your little brother?"
If Wan was suggesting that he would take Leo's heart if she didn't help him...the dream went red again. Bea felt something burning inside of her. A fiery pain that she embraced. She leaped out of her chair over the table, hands grasping for Wan's neck.
"DON'T YOU DARE TOUCH HIM!"
Bea's eyes opened and she sat upright in bed, a sharp pain and a loud crack sounding as her head smacked into Ophelia's.
"Ahh!" Ophelia yelled, leaning away and holding her face. Bea felt her own nose break but ignored the pain as she tried to get up and help Ophelia. The pallid elf had blood coming out of her nose as well.
"Are you okay?" she asked Bea through teary eyes, "You were having a nightmare. You were screaming."
