Memory transcription subject: Captain Sovlin, United Nations Fleet Command
Date [standardized human time]: January 15, 2137
It wasn’t my imagination; our triangular shuttle was sinking like a stone. Water bobbed up against the cockpit windows, entombing us beneath the waves. Hull integrity would eventually give out and allow water to flood the compartment. The predators were just watching it happen, with not nearly enough panic showing in their binocular eyes. They made no attempt to inflate a life raft and escape, while we could still get the doors open.
The craft had tipped forward at a slight angle, and the airborne vehicle began to sink nose-first toward a watery grave. A feeling of immense claustrophobia gripped me, as the nightmare scenario came to fruition. My claws wrapped around Samantha’s arm before I could stop myself; the human looked at me with sheer disbelief, and pushed me away. Her nose was scrunched in an obvious sign of distaste. Carlos would’ve definitely been more amenable to my desperate outreach for support.
Samantha heaved a sigh. “I’m going to pretend you didn’t just fucking do that, but it better not ever happen again.”
“Please! We’re sinking!” I croaked.
Onso snickered. “Sinking? You don’t feel the engines running? It’s a submersible aircraft.”
Upon closer listening, I could feel the quiet hum of the engines. Somehow, the combustion drive was still running underwater, and pushing us in a controlled manner further into the ocean. There were no signs of leaks seeping through the walls, despite being encased in the depths. I’d never heard of a plane that could fly underwater, but I should’ve gleaned our safety from the predators’ calmness.
If a human is running or terrified, that’s when it’s time to assume our deaths are imminent.
Sam wasn’t the least bit amused by me latching onto her arm, but Tyler and Carlos were both masking smirks. I dipped my head in shame. How had the Yotul known of technology which was unfathomable to the wider galaxy? Until today, I wouldn’t have thought such devices would ever have a use. It was embarrassing that the primitive kept his head better than me around novel technology, though I tried to push that egoistic thought out of my mind.
“Do the Yotul have this kind of technology, Onso?” I prompted the reddish-furred marsupial to answer, though I knew the reply would be in the negative. “I’ve never heard of such things, so I’m surprised it’s old news to you.”
“Well, I took it upon myself to read up on the specs; they were included with our briefing notes. Never know when shit’s gonna break, and someone’s gotta fix it. The Yotul have a saying, ‘Everything can break, so assume it will do so today.’”
“That’s valid. Every spacecraft crash is due to a ‘one-in-a-billion’ mechanical failure; unlikelihood upon unlikelihood. Uh, anyhow, I’m a little out of my element here, clearly nothing like you.”
“I don’t mind the water, Sovlin. Mama had a sailboat, which she’d take around the harbor. It was a little disappointing to hear human water activities involve hunting. There’s so many beautiful things to see; it’s the last untamed frontier. Even after space is explored, the oceans still hold so many mysteries and unique lifeforms!”
“Plenty of humans agree with you, even ones who enjoy fishing like Tyler. We’ll go snorkeling or scuba diving just to explore reefs and view marine life,” Carlos chimed in. “No boat, nothing but a basic breathing apparatus.”
“There’s water sports too. Surfing, where you try to ride massive waves on a board.” Samantha made odd gestures with her hands, as though conveying a series of hills. “Parasailing, up in the sky tied to a boat. White water rafting, where you go down turbulent, rocky rapids in an inflatable.”
I groaned. “Why…are any of those not mortally dangerous?! What is wrong with you predators? I thought you evolved from the fucking trees!”
“It’s all in the spirit of fun, a memorable experience. Don’t tell me none of it sounds like something you want to try once.”
“No, those stunts sound horrible. This is horrible. I can see the depth meter going up…it’s double digits! I can’t see the sky!”
“Quit being a baby.”
“Quit being a predator! I hate humans; I can’t stand you! Onso, back me up.”
“The surfing sounds totally badass. I can imagine riding a wave up to its crest, and trying not to fall,” the Yotul answered. “We should try it together, old man. Conquer your fears, do things you think you can’t.”
“I am not doing that. No way on the cradle.”
Tyler sported a devilish grin. “Hey, it could be worse, Sovlin. You could be doing shark cage diving.”
I offered the blond human a blank stare. Through the cockpit behind him, I noticed orange-striped fish swimming clear of the aerosub. There was a dark shadow in the murky depths below, which filled me with palpable unease. What if it was some sort of massive predator which hid in this oceanic range? Chewing at my claws with anxiety, I tried to parse through what he said.
Cage diving? That can’t be what it sounds like; locking yourself in a cage and jumping into the water…not trying to escape. What’s a shark?
We moved closer to the ambiguous shadow within the turquoise ocean, which I tried to ignore. The humans would freak out if there was reason for alarm; I couldn’t make a fool of myself again. Plastering a look of confusion on my face, I flicked a claw at Tyler for an explanation. His blue eyes twinkled with amusement, and my former guards watched with interest.
“Ah, you’re wondering what that is.” Officer Cardona tapped his fingers against his holopad, and noticed that his Yotul exchange partner was intrigued too. He showed a picture to Onso first. “I’d say it’s self-explanatory. Oh, and, yes, they have side-facing eyes, but sharks are predators. Humans have movies about them eating us, even though that’s uncommon in reality.”
Tyler turned the device toward me, and I flinched away with disbelief. Sure enough, a pack of Terrans were suspended in a metal cage below the water. “Sharks” circled them with predatory intent, serrated teeth visible. From what I’d learned about Gojids being omnivores, I’d trust the primates on binocular eyes not being necessary to eat living food. However, deciphering human behavior was a maddening endeavor. Was this some twisted way of reasserting their dominance as apex predators, against animals that dared to prey on them?
“You just said it was in fucked-up human movies…it’s CGI! That’s not a real fucking thing!” I screamed. “I thought we were keeping it professional, huh? You all are definitely saying, and making up, predator nonsense on purpose, at this point!”
Tyler flashed his teeth. “It’s real. We don’t need to make anything up; humans will go to great lengths for thrills.”
“That seems to be tempting fate. I’ve always believed in respecting nature, though it would be cool to see these animals up close,” Onso said.
“Good news: you can see them in aquariums too.”
I thought humans would think water decorations were stupid…wait, what did he just say?!
My spines were bristling. “You have aquariums, like the Kolshians on Aafa?”
“Yep,” Tyler affirmed.
“And instead of sea plants, you keep dangerous predators in them?”
“Yeah? They’re cool to look at, man.”
“Protector, I don’t care if we’re in the middle of the ocean. I want off this sinking boat!”
Carlos stifled a laugh. “Well, your wish is about to be granted. This puppy isn’t meant to dive deeper than 100 meters. The UNS Deep Core is up ahead.”
The foreboding shadow had grown larger in my periphery, and my eyes swiveled back to the viewport. It was a submersed ship, but one that was so large, its breadth faded into the murky distance. There was no way this wasn’t in the triple digits of meters long; the all-black, undecorated exterior would cause an observer to mistake it for a shadowy patch of water. There was a tower affixed to its spine, which perhaps housed an equivalent to a bridge.
“The humans must’ve snuck this ship here days ago. How long has it been lurking?” I murmured to myself. “They couldn’t have airdropped it from too high up either…I don’t think.”
Samantha rubbed her hands together. “If you think this is the only one sent, think again. We’re told as much as we need to know, Sovlin, but it’s a blast to fill in the blanks.”
Our aerosub glided down to the bottom of the Deep Core, before flipping over and latching onto to a watertight door. It was similar to how a spacecraft would dock for boarding; my concerns were assuaged a little, noticing some familiarity. Packing such a large crew into a metal tube must be stressful for any land-dwelling species, but the humans were insane enough to tuck their senses aside. There could be enough predators aboard to compose a small village.
I disliked the fact that I was hanging at a ninety-degree angle, though I didn’t voice my complaints. The humans awkwardly dismounted, with Tyler helping Onso down. Carlos hoisted me to my own two feet, and I took a steadying breath. Our own watertight hatch, which I mistook for an emergency exit when I thought it was a sane vehicle, was on the right exit. There was a click, as human personnel opened the circular door from the other side.
The five of us were helped up through the threshold into the submarine, and we admired the metal inner workings of our surroundings. The tunnels were narrow, with small doorways leading between compartments; many required a slight step up to clear. One Terran greeted us at our docking point, though he wore a different uniform than the getup I was used to. I wasn’t sure what to expect from land predators who operated underwater, but the ample facial hair checked out with my mental image.
“Welcome aboard the Deep Core. I’m Commander Fournier; your presence is requested on the bridge,” a gruff voice greeted us.
I blinked in confusion. “May I ask why…sir?”
“First aliens to step foot on a submarine. You’re VIPs; it’s a good photo-op, you could say. Follow me.”
Of course, the humans are worried about optics as we’re descending to an outlandish location. Sometimes, they’re awfully predictable.
Claustrophobia threatened to flare up, with the cramped passages and lack of direction. Onso showed no such uneasiness, forcing Tyler to ensure that the Yotul studied objects with his eyes, not his paws. The primitive seemed enamored with any machinery or design quirks, even basic things such as hinges. I was really trying not to look down on him, but when he was gawking at simplistic nails, it was difficult. At least his dimwitted curiosity was a distraction from our present environment.
The bearded commander led us to a steep stairway, and communicated for us to follow his lead. There was a thunderous bark of “up ladder!” before the human-in-charge popped open a hatch. Tyler waved a hand at me and Onso, signaling for us to climb after Fournier first. I ensured that my balance was steady, hustling up the rungs. There was a railing surrounding the hatch, along with a safety chain that our guide was unclipping.
“Sir, may I ask how much air we have left?” I couldn’t resist asking, despite being out of breath from the short ascent. “I presume you’ve been submerged a few days. Even spaceships can only carry a few weeks of oxygen, and I don’t see any tanks, um…”
Fournier issued a throaty laugh. “Scared of submarines, Gojid?”
“A little, uh, yes…sir.”
“Don’t be. We have as much air as there is water in the ocean.”
Onso bounded after us. “The Terrans use electrolysis to separate the hydrogen from the oxygen in seawater they collect, then use that O2 to ventilate the ship.”
“Why, I like this one!” the commander bellowed. “Read up on subs, haven’t ya?”
“It drew me in…like a vortex of knowledge. I always liked machines.”
“Then I take it you’re an engineer? I can see that kid-like glee in your eyes.”
“A rocket engineer. The unchanging rules, the complex order, the concreteness and the planning: it speaks to me. Having a new class of machines to study really lit that fire, for the first time since the Federation killed my passion. Not even studying your weaponry truly scratched that itch. It’s just, I never dreamed I’d discover a new alien boat!”
“Well, well! I’m no engineer, but I’ll be happy to share what I know. Feel free to ask any questions; we love talking about what we do, to someone who really wants to hear it.”
“Thank you, sir.”
Commander Fournier led us into a stout compartment, where a vast array of gadgetry and screens covered a wall. Humans were examining a green circle on display, with a rotating line and labeled angles. Data feeds were also listed there, which led me to conclude it was a sensors equivalent. Navigations was at the front, at least from the appearance of several control columns. Some predators appeared to be acting as officers or supervisors, peering over others’ shoulders and issuing commands.
This isn’t that dissimilar to a starship, but where is the viewport? How can they see?
I cleared my throat. “Sir, where is the viewport? There’s no windows!”
“We don’t need windows,” Fournier explained. “We use sonar, because sound travels further in water than light. Glass or transparent materials are just a weak point in the hull, and a potential source of leaks if we take a hit.”
“Okay. Then why did the submersible craft we took here have windows?”
“Because it needs to be a spacecraft too, and you need to see when you’re flying. It’s useful enough to outweigh any concerns,” Carlos chimed in.
“This is so cool!” Onso bounced on his digitigrade hindlegs, and the commander fortunately didn’t take offense to his excess excitement. “The sonar doesn’t need to see at all. It just…listens.”
Fournier nodded. “Precisely. I saw you examining the bearings on our machinery, and I’ll impress upon you the importance of noise reduction down here. We keep everything detached from the hull frame to avoid vibrations…even dropping a wrench can give you up to an enemy. Sonar receptors pick up the slightest vibration, and then, they know you’re there.”
“That explains why your engines have to be so quiet. I was reading about how you try to avoid cavitation…you know, where the vacuum pressure caused by the propeller makes water boil. The bubbles pop and give off noise.”
“You don’t need a rundown at all, Yotul; you already know everything. We have a speed range where we can operate silently.”
I was growing bored of the technical explanations, and Onso, a primitive, was outshining my knowledge to the humans. Perhaps the Yotul was desperate to prove himself as an academic equal, but he didn’t need to prattle on about science like he was reading a textbook. While there were impressive feats of engineering on display here, I agreed with Samantha’s assertion of naval obsolescence. What good was fighting in the water, except in this extraordinary circumstance?
The predators can hide far away from any targets or locations of value forever. How ingenious. They’d be unseen altogether if the other human tribes realized this theater was irrelevant in a war.
I suppressed an irritated huff. “Permission to speak freely, sir?”
“Granted,” Fournier replied, a curious twinkle in his eyes.
“Respectfully, sir, I do not see the purpose of putting all this time into submarine development, at least for military aims. You’re a spacefaring species, and you’re incredible at ground assaults. What use is it to hide so far away from civilization…from the action? Maybe you sink a few ships that are using an outdated method of moving resources, but I don’t get it. You have better weapons.”
“You really don’t know? To use your word, these ships are masterful predators; nearly undetectable, capable of hearing the slightest sound, and able to surface anywhere in the world. But it goes far beyond that. The destructive power housed here is a hell of a deterrent. That’s why we’d never actually trade nukes like ya Feddies thought we did.”
“Nukes? I’m not following.”
“There’s tens of nukes stuffed onto just one of these things. We can hang off the shore anywhere, and fire missiles while underwater. Not that we have to be close to our target; we can shoot ICBMs halfway around the world. You never know where we are, if it’s right down your neck or prowling distant shores. We’re waiting to strike, anywhere and everywhere, with the technology to end civilization itself, even after command is destroyed on land. Obsolete, my ass.”
I gulped with discomfort, wishing I could recede into the ship walls. That declaration was so calm yet predatorily destructive; there were chilling implications for the extent of human aggression. It suddenly made sense why Earth tribes were intent on sniffing these predators out of the ocean’s recesses, and why the subs tried to remain undetectable at all costs. Should the current battle go awry, Talsk could be devastated by an unseen arsenal of epic proportions.
As Commander Fournier took his post, I tried to understand why humans would devise such machinations, for use against their own civilization. The Federation’s “irradiated Earth” could’ve been a reality; these capabilities shouldn’t exist in any culture. I didn’t understand why my kind-hearted friends would even think of such predatory weaponry. Surely, understanding the apocalyptic consequences of these vehicles should’ve convinced them not to build them.
My therapist could’ve elaborated further on the full heights of Terran aggression. Humans didn’t enjoy killing, yet they brainstormed and actualized the optimal ways to kill every human in existence? It was a paradox. Perhaps their predator nature factored into their decision-making in a manner they didn’t understand. Orders were issued to begin our descent, and for all sailors to report to battle stations. I felt the submersible tilt down, so I tried to clear my head of what the primates were capable of.
I have to believe that they will never actually do something like that…that their goodness will prevail. They didn’t snap after Earth, right? I trust their better judgment.
“W-well, if there’s really a base at the bottom of the ocean, the Farsul are fucked,” I murmured to my posse.
Samantha’s fist tightened, as her smirk returned. “I’d say they are.”
The numbers on the depth meter continued to escalate, as the submarine navigated the ocean which spanned below us. Locked inside a steel tube with predators, and knowing the potential of its onboard weaponry, my nerves were anything but quelled. The submarines somehow eclipsed even the worst starships in its dastardly capabilities. The Farsul wouldn’t be prepared for this predatory contraption, should we stumble across any of their flotilla.
I was glad that the humans were on the same team as me; there was no telling where their capacity for annihilation ended.

Building a better paddle for younger players - your thoughts
Hello folks, I'm thrilled to be here and engage in pickleball discussions with you all. Growing up, I've always had a soft spot for table tennis, but gradually shifted to outdoor sports when getting older - table tennis gradually took a back seat. That's when I discovered pickleball, a fantastic outdoor sport that combines elements of table tennis and tennis (struggled with tennis because my strength often led to overhits).
My journey started with a fiberglass paddle purchased on Amazon, but I quickly found its lack of pop and spin is really disappointing since spinning the ball was my forte in table tennis. Consequently, I started exploring more advanced paddles from brands like Selkirk, Joola, and Onix. At first, spending $200 on a paddle seemed reasonable until I realized many players needed to replace their paddles every couple of months, with power players needing a new one every month - it felt like a money pit.
I believe it isn't just me, but many new players, crave better-quality paddles but are deterred by the high costs. Thus, I decided to leverage my resources and create a brand offering a high-quality pickleball experience at reasonable costs, making the joy of pickleball accessible to many more. My main target audience is younger players, around the age of 25 like me.
The first step on this journey is to design a paddle that can accompany pickleball enthusiasts from beginner to intermediate level. I'm committed to using thermoformed tech, as I'm tired of seeing news about paddles breaking, and after watching Chris's video, I'm convinced that thermoformed tech can address this issue. I would stick with the standard paddle face as it offers a larger sweet spot and lower error rate, which suits most beginners and intermediate players.
However, I'm torn on the choice of face material. There are various types of carbon fiber like 3K, T700, Torey T700, or even Kevlar, which some of you might not be familiar with. There's also the perforated paddle design used in high-end paddles like Selkirk Power Air, Onix Malice. And as for aesthetics, I understand clean designs are popular here, but I'm curious what kind of designs appeal to players in my age bracket. I'm eager to hear your thoughts and in the future, I'd love to involve you, the community members, in testing our paddles.

(P.S. some gen1/2 paddles I am testing now ;) )

How To Stop Odometer – A Guide

https://preview.redd.it/i1g8wbv5es3b1.jpg?width=795&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fcd76e9ecbee2434a8af7b9ca21d3dee982dd639
How to stop odometer? – This is a frequently asked question among motorists around the world. Despite the various recommendations and offered technics, some of you are not still quite sure which way is better when it comes to interfering with your odometer. First of all, make sure that you have a legitimate reason for it. it may be some fault in functioning or you may just need to test the performance of your car. Needless to say, there are some people who use this for malicious purposes and search for the optimal way that allows them not to get caught in the crime. Of course, we do not encourage wrongdoers to break the law, we only want to tell you what is accepted practice in this case, what can be legitimate reasons that make you think about changing mileage-related data, and of course how to stop mileage on a car.
Let’s get down to business, get ready and armed with the knowledge that will guide you through different situations you may come across.
WHAT IS AN ODOMETER?
It is a tool used for measuring the distance traveled by a vehicle. The device may be electronic, mechanical, or a combination of the two. It is placed on the dashboard near the speedometer, which on the other hand indicates the instantaneous speed of the automobile.
If we look through history, we can learn that Roman engineers developed it around 15 BC. As for the modern prototype of it, Blaise Pascal invented it in the 17th century. Mechanical odometers include several cogs. Each cog represents a numerical digit. Distance is counted by tracking the rotations of tires. If you own a brand-new automobile, you can enjoy the fully electronic instrument cluster, accordingly, you have a digital odometer that is no longer cable-dependent. Now magnetic or optical sensors and electronic circuits do the job. Sensors count the rotations made by the toothed wheel. Signals from sensors are sent to the ECU. As a result, it calculates the traveled distance based on pulses. Hence, the result is printed on the board.
Some people confuse it with the trip meter. Different from the above-mentioned tool. It can be reset at any time. Its main function is to count the particular distance between two points. It is extremely useful when you want to calculate miles per gallon, so it allows you to learn more about your fuel consumption more precisely.
What are some problems related to it?
You may ask what issues can we come across when we need a precise reading of mileage data. The most common reason is a broken odometer. Particularly it means that we get misleading information. The key solution in the case of mechanical one is easy to find and eradicate. There are many free tutorials on Youtube, that allow you to fix it yourself if you follow the instructions attentively. In the case of an electronic one, there may be several solutions. You may need to replace sensors, they are located near the back of the transmission. Another solution can be changing the gears, sometimes those are damaged and need replacement.
According to the Electricity.com, more measures you can take are as followings: removing any dust particles and strains, checking the back of the dashboard connector, taking a closer look at fuses and checking the ECU wires, it is a high chance that those are faulty and make it impossible for meters to work properly.
Why it is important?
People are eager to know how to stop odometer and they have a reason for it. the point is that mileage plays a significant role in determining the value of vehicles. If you want to buy a used automobile, the first thing you may ask is the distance it has traveled throughout its life. The higher the number, the higher the chance of the necessity of high maintenance costs in the initial stage of owning the automobile. With the help of the odometer, you can see it with your own eyes, you don’t need to guess it. there comes the danger of accuracy of it. Some dishonest sellers manipulate this data to their advantage which means that they use some devices for malicious purposes. In the following paragraph, you can learn in detail what is it and how it affects the automotive industry.
FIGHTING AGAINST ODOMETER FRAUD
According to NHTSA, it is the disconnection, resetting or alteration of a vehicle’s odometer with the intent to change the number of miles indicated. Almost half a million buyers become victims of dishonest sellers. This crime costs $1 billion annually. How do they manage it? the answer is simple, they have tools that are available on any online store. The manufacturers of those tools escape the responsibility. The most common is the correction tool, which is meant to roll back the existing numbers. So, if you are interested in how to stop mileage on a car, those devices do not serve purposes.
Additionally, they are easily detected, which means that it just changes data on the surface and it stays on other control units. So, before you decide to lie to someone, be careful you cause inconvenience and misunderstanding.
Strengthening measures against crime is vital. So, government and individuals need to do their best to avoid it. As for laws, the federal government passed a law that requires a written disclosure of the mileage registered on an odometer to be provided on the title by the seller to the purchaser. An automobile that is 20 years or older is exempt from this requirement. As for individual effort, there are some tips and tricks that will help to protect yourself. Those are as followings:
  • Ask the seller to see the title and compare. Be sure that you take a closer look at it.
  • Ask to see maintenance records and make your conclusion.
  • Examine the general wear and tear of the target auto, especially the gas, brake and clutch pedals. Make sure that they are relevant to the numbers displayed.
  • Request automobile history report to eliminate possible discrepancies.
As you can see, automotive crime is one of the big challenges today. However, If someone wants to change numbers on the odometer doesn’t automatically mean that he or she has a bad cause. There are various reasons why they need it, let’s take a closer look at them and find the best alternative that serves this purpose.
HOW TO STOP ODOMETER
You may have a bunch of legitimate reasons to correct your mileage data. Before we discuss how to do it flawlessly, let’s see what can be those reasons. For example, testing your automobile is the first you want to do after remapping and it’s normal that you do not want those unnecessary miles on the display. Other reasons are as followings:
  • You may spot inaccurate information after jump-starting
  • Inaccuracy after dashboard damage
  • Electrical fault
  • After installing a new engine
  • gauge failure
  • after installing the used odometer
You may not think that it’s necessary but sometimes you need to disable your odometer. If you search for the phrase “how to stop odometer?”. Let’s look through what method you may come across. Firstly, you should know that you will need three steps for it.
  1. Find the relevant fuse.
You may find different fuses for different purposes, for example, ignition, alarm or light. You need exactly the odometer fuse.
  1. Remove the fuse.
Take a fuse removal tool and pull the fuse out. This should disable the odometer of your car.
  1. The final step
Examine attentively. Make sure that every other fuse is properly installed. Take a short drive and see if it worked.
All the above-mentioned sound good, but what if you are one of the admirers of high-tech solutions who would like to do all this effortlessly. If it is so, I have good news for you. I will tell you about the innovative module and answer your question – how to stop odometer? – once and forever.
MILEAGE BLOCKER: THE BEST ALTERNATIVE OF ALL
Mileage Blocker is an extraordinary module that can halt the mileage recording process from all control units. The tool is unique because of the advantages and benefits it offers. Additionally, it is used for more ethical purposes than its alternatives. Manufacturers created this module with premium-quality parts and it comes with mobile applications. This means that you don’t need to press the button to change it from mode to mode. It also includes easy installation instruction. If you decide to test your automobile efficiently, choose the quality product which doesn’t not only meet but exceeds your expectations. I will list the main benefits of this blocker, so you will be sure that it is a must-have device to purchase as soon as possible. Here is the list:
  • Altered mileage remains untraceable unconditionally. The information is not stored in any control unit and even with diagnostic testers no one is able to trace the mileage that was stopped while using the module.
  • Doesn’t cause any flaws in the Can-Bus system. At SKF we devote a lot of time to research and development and make sure that you will not encounter such problems.
  • You can turn it off and on while in motion. A key combination can be applied while your automobile is stationary or in motion and you can set the specific mode that you require during that specific time.
  • Miles do not add up spontaneously after removing it. It is the problem for many counterfeits of this module, when you disconnect them, miles start adding up. If you purchase a Mileage blocker you never come across the same problem.
  • It is a legal tool in most countries. However, in most cases, it is illegal to deceive potential buyers. Hence, you can install this module to test the performance of your vehicle in a controlled environment, but don’t use it for deceitful purposes.
So, if you still think about how to stop mileage on a car, do not hesitate. You can purchase the mileage stopper that will serve its purpose flawlessly. If you have any other questions you can check look through the support or contact the customer center.
TAKEAWAY
So, you get all the necessary information that will help you make a smart decision when it comes to your automobile. Do not forget to identify the legitimate reason for s stopping your odometer. After doing it, you can purchase the most reliable module in the world and enjoy its benefits. So, what are you thinking of ? I think you already know how to stop odometer.

2023.06.03 05:51 _depression101 Should I quit my internship?

I'm a second year mechanical engineering student going into my third year.
Right now I'm working two internships. We'll call them "manufacturing internship" and "design internship."
I started the manufacturing internship at the beginning of May for $17/hour x 40 hours per week. I really had my hopes up because in the job description, and during the interview process, my supervisor played up the role. I was under the impression that about 50% of the job would be tooling design, and the rest would be a combination process design, and other bits and bobs. Then I started the internship. I've done almost none of what was in the job description - I don't even have a Solidworks license to do tooling design. At the beginning, I did maybe a couple hours of tooling design because another engineer let me work on his computer ... and that's it, that's the only mechanical design experience I've gotten from this internship. When they say "process design," they mean "make travelers for the production runs." Then the other "bits and bobs" are literally 90% of the job: datasheets, organizing things, "verifying" information, and straight up faking missing data.
That's the other thing I dislike about this company: they're dishonest with the work they do. They're months behind on work, so to compensate, they outsource some products to outside vendors and resell it marked up 500%, and pass it off as their own. This in and of itself isn't bad, especially since it is pretty common practice... The problem comes when they fake data - they need to scan their products to make sure they meet certain optical requirements, but when they get something from an outside vendor, they just straight up fake the data... which is especially frustrating because they literally have the equipment to scan it, they just don't. This applies to their own products as well. Missing a scan? Fake data. The scan shows the product isn't up to spec? They "adjust" it. A customer requires a scan they're not capable of taking? More fake data. And they push a lot of this "faking" and "adjusting" onto me. It feels like the only reason they hired me was so they can push liability onto someone less significant, which is probably the case.
I can't get myself to stare at/make fake datasheets for 40 hours a week so I've been using python scripts to fast track the process. This opened up a huge amount of time in my schedule to do other stuff so I was hoping leverage that fact to get me on some tooling design projects or something of the like... but when I talked to them, they just told me they're having trouble getting a Solidworks license. So I've been following up (both via email and in person) literally every two days and I still don't have a CAD software to use... which is a common pattern. I bring something up and they'll "put me on a project," but I'll need XYZ to do that project and they'll never give me XYZ regardless of how many times I follow up... so I end up doing busywork.
To be honest, working here really beats me down. I'm barely getting any mechanical engineering experience, this position won't help me in my career, and I just feel very mislead and used. I hate this company and I'm here for no other reason than the money, and I will happily take it from them.
The design internship, on the other hand, has been much better. I got the offer about 1.5 weeks ago. I requested to be put on second shift with the manufacturing internship supervisor so I could take the first shift position at the design internship, and I started working at the new place a week ago. This past week I worked about 35 hours with the design internship and 25 hours with the manufacturing internship.
I'm confident that this new internship is better: I learned more there on my first day than I learned in my entire manufacturing internship. They pay $22/hour. For interns, they target about 50% of hours being billable work and 50% paid learning through various courses they have internally, and with other companies. I also get a 401k and health insurance. They have several other interns who have been there a while and can attest to the job being pretty accurate to the job description, and the whole team seems pretty honest in their work.
So anyway... my question is: do I keep my old manufacturing internship, or should I just migrate entirely over to the new design internship? Part of my motive for keeping the manufacturing internship is that I still (for some reason) have hope that I'll get some decent manufacturing experience / mechanical design experience related to manufacturing. Even though I plan on going more into the design side of things in my career, I think having some background in manufacturing is valuable because it gives you a more intimate understanding of how a factory floor works, which can help guide design decisions. I can also leverage that in future internships/jobs/interviews. My other main motive is money. I know money is not everything, but keeping the manufacturing internship means I'll have an additional $3000 in my pocket at the end of summer. This is the first time in my life I've been doing better than just breaking even and having that $3000 in my pocket is a lot to me. If I only work for the design internship, I'll still have a decent surplus for these next few months, but I kind of want to just suck it up this summer and work both internships for the extra $3000... even though just this one week at 60 hours + classes has kinda been eating away at me.
What would you do in my shoes? Any advice is appreciated
TLDR: I have a toxic relationship with an employer, then a new employer finally showed me what it's like to be treated right. I plan to pursue things with the new employer, but I'm not sure whether I should continue to dig gold from my first employer.

Memory transcript subject: Sasha Everett, ex-UN noncombatant
Date [Standardized Human Time]: February 29th, 2177
Location: Upper layer of City 23, Venlil Prime
“I’m going, I’m going! Gojids aren’t— khh-aah! — exactly limber in their older years, Sasha! Right, I don’t see anyone in this hallway either, you can come in.”
Sasha clambered through the window after her talkative gray-quilled friend, slipping through with significantly less effort despite her larger frame. The Rising Star was laughably unsecure; windows were unlocked and at chest height, with no alarm system to speak of. The hotel was in some sort of lockdown due to the exterminator presence, all residents and staff hiding behind locked doors. It would be an issue if their target was stowed in a room, but at least the halls were empty. All that left for security was the exterminators gathered at the entrance, and—

“Get back!”
An extended claw stopped her from tripping straight into an intersection, as Burai forced her back into the hallway. “There’s cameras here, they’ll spot you!”
“Haven’t they already seen you? You’re standing right in their view.”
“No, they… I mean, yes, but nobody’ll care about a Gojid in the halls. To a surveillance AI scanning a spaceport hotel, that’s business as usual. But as soon as a human steps out here, security will be notified about a ‘potential predation incident’. Just stay there, and let me… let… w-what?”
“Burai? What’s going on?”
Burai was staring down the hall, eyes rapidly flitting to focus on something which she couldn’t see from her view in the adjacent hall. His jaw was entirely slack for several seconds before he managed to collect himself.
“The, uh… cameras. The cameras are shut down. All of them, they’re staring at the ground and their lights are out. I think you can come out now.”
They had little time to spare, and hesitation would only hurt their chances. She paced out into the corridor alongside Burai, casting a glance down both ways. It was as he’d said; every camera was unlit and staring loosely at the floor. Likely Trish’s doing. No way to tell if (or when) they’d reactivate, so they had to get moving. Burai apparently thought the same, though his relatively stubby legs meant his sprint was about level with her stride.
As they moved through the hall at slightly less than record pace, Sasha began taking in her surroundings. It could be useful to memorize if they had to leave the way they came, so she absorbed every detail she could as they ran like hell/jogged with mild exertion. Orange walls, painted in a stepped gradient from burnt orange to a light cream. A fascinating choice for a world where the native species had orange-colored blood, but apparently they couldn’t be bothered to pretend that prey should be scared of anything bearing the color of their blood anymore. She had to admit, it was a welcome change.
Lining the walls were an assortment of mounted displays. Arranged in a pattern which looked random but was carefully considered for visual balance, they showed an assortment of artwork from every species. She even thought she recognized a few human paintings, mixed alongside the rest of the dizzying collage.
Maybe she had, but it was hard to say for sure. She didn’t have time to get a good look before every panel suddenly went dark at once, with nothing in the way of warning or fanfare. For a brief instant, the hall was filled with rows of ominous black rectangles, before two white lines of text appeared on each and every one:

FLOOR THREE LOBBY
LEFT OF VENDING MACHINE

The panels switched back to their previous display of artwork almost too quickly to read the message. Sasha was left briefly wondering if she was simply hallucinating from the stress, but Burai’s once-again slack jaw dispelled that notion. He looked up at her, trying to say something but failing for lack of breath.
They were on floor zero. The elevators were disabled due to the lockdown, and the stairs were arranged in such a way that one needed to cross around half the building to get to the next one up (whoever was in charge of planning apparently didn’t consider fire a real issue). If they were to make it upstairs before the exterminators caught up with them, they couldn’t be constrained by Burai’s sluggish pace.
In one beautiful fluid motion, she tore off her jacket, wrapped it around Burai, and picked him up. The thick flame-resistant plastic fiber made for an excellent barrier against his spikes, shielding her from a moderately painful and very embarrassing impalement. Burai squeaked in shock, but didn’t protest; they both knew that he couldn’t keep up with an endurance hunter’s jog. Without even the bare imitation of caution, she tore off towards the stairs with Burai in tow. They couldn’t afford to lose time playing at caution when their target was three floors above them through a bizarrely labyrinthian series of stairs.

They’d hardly made it halfway through the second floor when their progress was rather rudely interrupted. A small contingent of exterminators milled about the entrance to the stairwell, too engrossed in conversation to notice the couple of interlopers rapidly skid to a stop and duck behind an archway.
In the reflection of an unpowered screen near the door, Sasha and Burai watched the exterminators from a ‘safe’ distance. The majority of them broke away to rush down another corridor, leaving only two at the stairs: a Venlil and Harchen, judging by their frames. Snippets of their conversation drifted down the empty hall, intermittently cut out by the screeching sound of a broken automatic door repeatedly trying and failing to close.
“—on the first floor, either. You sure they—”
“—way. It has to be here somewhere. ‘Course, Yawi—”
“—d never! You know, that human can’t tell the di—”
On the next screech, Burai made his move. With the noise of the door covering the sound of his approach, he managed to get within meters of the exterminators undetected. At the last second before they noticed his presence, he moved around to make it look like he’d come from another hallway. Then, he drew a breath.
“H-Help! Help me!”
The two wheeled around, flamethrowers already primed before they spotted their assailant. Gojid were generally less than respected owing to their nature as cured predators, but an old man screaming for help didn’t exactly spark fear. Their weapons lowered, and the Venlil flicked a tail in friendly greeting. The Harchen seemed less amused.
“What are you doing outside of your room, Gojid? The hotel’s on lockdown. We’ve gotten notice of a bio—”
“No, no, please don’t make me g-go back there! There’s a… a h-h…”
“A human in your room? Mind telling us what you were doing staying with one?”
“I heard… I heard crying on the outside of the door, so I let him in… I didn’t realize it was…”
The Venlil put a gentle paw over the shaking Gojid. “I understand. Don’t worry, its deception dies with us. You’re safe. Can you tell us what room it’s in now?”
“F-four.. nineteen.”
“I see. Kyura, go check out room 419. I’ll stay here and—”
“Wait! It’s got a… a…”
Burai didn’t finish, choosing to let himself devolve into another bout of feigned fear. In the absence of details, the two would imagine the human to be armed with whatever scared them most. His bet paid off; the Venlil rose to her feet and rushed after the Harchen with her weapon aimed slightly upward at what would be a human’s center mass.
He let his act continue for a few more seconds, apparently waiting until he was certain they wouldn’t double back before scrambling for the stairs. By the time he made his way up to the third floor, she was already beside him and panting slightly.
“What… was that?”
“Improv. You should try it sometime! Anyway, I don’t think we have much time before those idiots realize there’s no room 419 on this floor, so we’re really on the clock. You see what we’re looking for anywhere?”
Sasha kept breathing hard as she scanned the room, before wordlessly rushing off next to a window overlooking a side alley which connected to the one the rest of their their group was perched on. Underneath, a backpack emblazoned with the UN’s logo was stuffed haphazardly next to a vending machine. Apparently, it had been tossed there in a rush as the building was put under lockdown, rather than carefully hidden. She picked it up, looked it over, and nodded at Burai.
“Great. Although…” He looked around the room a few times before returning his attention back to her.
“...unless there’s a parachute in there, I’m not sure it matters much. The lower floors are crawling with exterminators. I don’t see any obvious exits, and I really don’t favor our odds for a 3-story fall. Sasha?”
“Burai, get over here.”
Burai sauntered over as fast as his legs would carry him. She gestured at the window with her head.
“...You can’t be serious.”
“I am. There’s a dumpster below us, we passed it earlier. Filled with fabric, probably a load of blankets they threw out. You’ll be fine. Just cover your head and land feetfirst.”
“Sasha, I think I’d rather burn— AHCK!—”
With Burai in one arm and the backpack in the other, Sasha kicked out the window screen and jumped before she could stop to regret the decision.

The brunt of the pain stabbed her side, as a couple of Burai’s spines slipped past her unzipped jacket to jab themselves in her torso. Aside from that minor embarrassing oversight, she was unharmed. Her complete lack of training was handily circumvented by sheer dumb luck and the merciful softness of discarded hotel bedding. By the time she reoriented herself, Burai was already dragging her out of the dumpster. Bedsheets clung to his spikes, but aside from his pride, he too seemed unharmed.
Another hand, or rather bandaged paw, pulled her to her feet. Tressa encircled her like a short fluffy snake, apparently checking for injuries. Satisfied after two coils, he switched to watching their flank as the rest of them regrouped and recuperated. James was helping Burai pick fabric from his spines. Trish eyed the backpack, before turning her attention to the spot of red at her side.
“Sasha, can you move?”
“Yes. It’s just a skin wound, I’ll be fine. Is Beast all set to go?”
James’ muffled voice rang out from behind her. “Practically raring, last I checked! And a good thing too, because we’re skipping town immediately. Don’t have any time for the usual runaround, not with all this unwanted attention.”
As they closed in on the main street, Sasha zipped up her jacket to cover the wound and slung the backpack over a shoulder. She tried to act normal and casual, though the most she could realistically manage in that regard was to cover any limp from the pain in her torso. The rest of them slipped into their rehearsed roles, immediately cutting any discussion about the situation in favor of meaningless small talk which nobody could take notice of. Hopefully, their acting would be enough to cover for her lack thereof.
The street was awash with people, a viscous fluid of bodies pulling every which way. The lively roar of activity would be enough to cover their tracks as they made their way back to Beast, even if the exterminators realized they had a runaway. Still, time worked against them. The sooner they could get going, the better.

Memory transcript subject: Kelsen, Venlil extermination officer
Date [Standardized Human Time]: February 29th, 2177
Location: City 23, Venlil Prime
Kelsen watched through the screen of a digital scope as the ragtag group of predators and predator diseased piled into their little barely-functional van, practically crushing each other for lack of space. Once they were packed in shoulder-to-shoulder like cattle, the pathetic thing sputtered to life and limped out into the street.
They must’ve assumed the van was untraceable owing to its advanced age. It was true that automated systems wouldn’t cooperate, but a tracker planted on the underside would have no issues. Their retreat would lead the law straight back to their den.
Well... OK, so maybe the law could wait a moment. Official practice dictated that anything “contaminated” by predators be burned without delay, but he just couldn’t have that. Since the idiotic Federation-wide ban on near-sentient surveillance AI a couple years ago, their leads on predator subversives were running thinner by the day. A raid could gather invaluable intel.
He already had a squad lined up, with body armor instead of hazard suits and kinetic weapons instead of flamethrowers. He’d even rallied up an investigator, a successfully reeducated human who hunted information rather than helpless prey. It would be such a shame to let all that go to waste and simply burn their hideout to ash; that could always come later. Besides, he’d put far too much effort into tracking this group to simply pour some napalm and call it a day.
His little raid would have to operate outside the law to get results. That hadn’t been an issue to arrange, of course, but it meant that if things went south they wouldn’t get any backup. He couldn’t afford to be hasty about this.
But he couldn’t afford to be passive, either. The facial recognition software they’d used to ID and track the Gojid was already skirting the law; their raiding party was actively flaunting it. Kelsen couldn’t let his noble work fall victim to the chains of bureaucracy.
If he wanted to get away with this, he’d have to do it tonight.

2023.06.03 05:21 Macketaforever Is there a store that makes custom prescription lenses?

I have a favorite pair of prescription glasses but have grown out of the lenses (eyes getting worse). I want to get a replacement lenses (with new prescription) for my glasses but all the stores only sell lenses WITH frame and when I ask if they can custom lenses only they all said No. I’ve tried local optometrists, Target Optical, Costco Optic, Lenses Crafter (ironic name when they don’t make custom lenses…)…

Palm Kings - The Palm Kings (PKs) is a Black gang made up of Black nationalists who controls Palm Harbor’s rackets and extorts store owners. Led by Benny King, they’re equipped with police-grade weaponry and has strong ties with the PCPD despite this, they are the second weakest gang in the game and each gang kill from them awards 150-500 XP depending if it's a regular to elite
Dixie Paladins - The Dixie Paladins are a white supremacy gang and a militarized version of the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) who controls the Gold Coast Mountains in the mountainous regions of Palm City. they’re the weakest gang in the game and each gang kill from them awards 100-250 XP from regular to elite members. Other members include Ravindra "Rav" Chaudhry as the gang's car expert Rachel Teller as the gang's customization expert, Marcus “Boomer” Boone as the gang's weapon experts. The Blackwell Syndicate would be the gang that the player would join. In Act 1, they're an outside and fast tracked to soldier, but in Act 2 the player would be a capo until the end of the game. They are secretly backed by both The Mob and the CIA through Agent Dawes. Jonathan Cross and Mia Townsend are also on the gang's payroll until "Bon Appetit" where Marcus Blackwell executes him with a 870P Magnum to the head. Also Mia would also go with Jack Rourke as well
The police/military force
PCPD - the police force of Palm City/Miami if the player does hostile acts (killing civilians, firing unsuppressed weapons in public, etc) will attract police attention and each kill from them awards 50 XP for regular members and 100 XP for armored members, However the player can bribe the PCPD to look the other way or will even help the player fight the other gangs but would be the target of higher level police forces. (Sort of like it was in The Godfather game) The player can also buy favors from them as well. Also they’ll deploy stronger units at higher heat level alongside the FBI. The cars PCPD drives are the Ford Crown Victoria, Dodge Challenger, Pontiac GTO, and the Chevy Grand Sport
Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) - The state police force and Only appears in wanted levels 3 and above, Each kill from them awards 75 XP for regular state troopers and 150 XP for tactical state troopers. Regular state troopers drives Ford Mustang GTs tactical state troopers drives Nissan GT-R

Each kill from them awards 125 XP for regular agents, 250 XP for FBI SWAT and 375 XP for FBI HRT, Like the PCPD the player can bribe the FBI to look the other way, or even help the player fight gangs, or the PCPD but at the second highest price. The FBI also has the second widest array of favors the player can buy. regular agents drives the Nissan 350Z or Porsche 911 GT3 RS, FBI SWAT drives the - Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Roadster or Ford F-150 SVT Raptor L.E. and FBI HRT drives the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X or Land Rover Range Rover Sport SVR
Military - Only goes after the player if they trespass in Fort Rockport or the Palmount Naval Shipyard. Each kill from them awards 200 XP for regs, 400 XP for experienced troops and 600 XP for elite troops. Like the PCPD, State Police and the FBI, the player can bribe the military to look the other way, or even help the player fight gangs, the PCPD, State Police or even the FBI but at the highest price and The military also has the widest array of favors the player can buy in large part due to Agent Dawes’ connections in Washington.
Multiplayer portion of the game would take place during the five cartels war where the Blackwell Syndicate, The Volk, Palm Kings, Dixie Paldines, Los Salmos 16, and The House (basically where Jack Rourke glosses over saying "It was non-stop chaos for weeks")
Also there would be a free ride mode where the player can explore the city at their leisure or pick a fight with either other cartels or the cops.
