2023.05.30 10:41 Brilliant-Pen4954 They groomed the girls and YOU.
They were being subjected to cult brainwashing techniques.
Isolation from friends and family, humiliation rituals, love bombing and verbal abuse, physical exhaustion, lack of adequate sleep, poor nutrition, a mysterious and forceful charismatic leader "Jason Goldstriker", a "good cop" (Jet), keeping the door to leave open at all times but presenting a carrot to keep them in (money, love-bombing, etc) so they are psychologically persuaded to choose to stay.
The TTS and the chime acted as a thought disruptor, it kept them from being able to think during the lulls and from communicating with each other properly. Any TTS message that might snap them out of it (e.g. "what if your mother saw that?") are manually filtered by the production crew so that only messages that are either meaningless, encouraging them to keep going or general abuse get through.
They developed Stockholm syndrome and wanted to stay (partly due to the sunk cost fallacy) and force themselves through a series of more intense humiliation rituals so they will be allowed to stay.
After enough trauma and exhaustion is inflicted the victim loses their sense of self, they begin to identify with their victimizer and the cult then rebuilds them as something that can service them.
The "streaming boot camp" offer proves it. He likely wants to keep Josie and Letty to get them to sign a predatory contract that charges usurious fees for their "help" in learning how to stream (something which a youtube video could teach), including renting out space and equipment in their studio. When they inevitably cannot pay they will be offered another contract that makes the girls work for him until the debt is paid but for as long as the girls use his studio, equipment and "mentoring" she will keep accruing debt meaning she will never have any independent control over her own work.
Josie is perfect for them since she is autistic, easily influenced by strong personalities, gullible, ignorant and desperate to escape poverty. This also appeals to the simp mindset, she's the physical embodiment of an anime girl because her childlike nature activates the protective instincts of simps who are lonely men that feel useless.
Letty is also good because she believes she's practically one of the crew now. She is good at manipulating the audience and getting them to hate and love her, as well as crafting a backstory designed to appeal to the typical Hyde fan.
And you are also groomed by the show into being simps. You watched it daily due to FOMO, creating a deeply parasocial relationship with these people by feeling sad when they suffer and cheering every small victory. And since challenges are partly determined by opinion polls of viewers the fans of the waifus will steer them to the finish and will be desperate to continue their parasocial relationship with them on whatever streaming service they end up on.
Also they'll probably fuck the girls. I mean some of the mini challenges basically felt like simulated sex. The stuffing marshmallows in their mouths, making them gag? The licking Chris thing? That was like a fetish video. Come on, "Lick the most disgusting thing in the room and I didn't outright say Chris so it's not my fault if you do" when he'd be the most disgusting thing in a morgue during a heat wave. Also they did that late in the day after the girls had been physically and mentally exhausted which meant they wouldn't resist doing something so overtly sexual after being trained for so long in following orders without question.
He makes money off of Fishtank, he will make money off of his future e-girl stable, he then funnels that money into more MDE World Peace which is his real passion and will make even more money since it will be edgy comedy with high production values and no censorship or concern for political correctness, which is something that can't really be found these days.
4chan was Hyde's downfall since it influenced his edgy nihilistic right wing comedy tinged with a scintilla of nazism. 4chan in a sense groomed him. He attracted a flock of loyal fans, a lot from 4chan, with whom his comedy resonated. Over time through interaction with this fan base he came to understand their group psychology: lonely terminally online somewhat autistic males prone to forming parasocial relationships.
He figured out how to groom this fan following to work for him so he doesn't have to rattle a tin cup on streams trying to be a youtube celeb that gets shunned by other youtubers.
Fishtank is edgy, Fishtank is full of autists ("just like me!" say the simps). Fishtank is designed to capitalize on FOMO and the parasocial relationship phenomena. Fishtank is designed to be excessively LONG because it takes at least 30 days of daily repetition for any person to create a habit, positive or negative, meaning current Fishtank addicts (paypigs) will return to get another hit next season. Fishtank will always have two girls selected by the criteria of their looks, psychological traits and background suitable for being e-girls, the more cute, quirky and pathetic the better. The two girls will have their personality traits positively reinforced during production to make them into exaggerated, one might say ANIME, versions of themselves and be cast as a villain and a heroine.
The girls, groomed and psychologically weakened by the death march of isolation and humiliation, will be very pliable and prone to signing shitty contracts. The paypigs, groomed by viewing the show, will follow the girls and give them money, most of which will go to their "mentors".
Also, the smallness of the prize relative to the amount of time, humiliation and effort required to get it is meant to attract people who are desperate enough to think it is a large amount. Desperate people are easier to control.

2023.05.30 10:09 tophyx0 WIBTA for quitting my "dream job" at the zoo after my best friend [26f] paid and helped me out so much at getting it?
I [24f] felt a strong desire to become a zookeeper about halfway through college - I went in not really knowing what I wanted to do with my life, but after attending a zookeeper guest talk put on by one of the clubs and talking to them and thinking about it more I thought I finally found something I could be happy doing with my life.
It was too late to switch my major though, and I had already accepted a different internship that summer, and with how competitive the zoo field is now I knew it would be tough and possibly require some interning after graduation.
One friend I'd met around here through my inquiry into the profession (not a keeper, but has a keeper friend) was super helpful to me and my best friend to this day. She was excited to help me out, put me in touch with this farmyard animal rescue to intern at after graduation to build up a resume, and even offered to let me live with her for free and helped pay for my food/expenses after graduation till I got my first keeper job.
Well, after a lot of hard work and interviewing and despairing I finally got an offer from a large accredited zoo - the zoo her friend works at.
Now I'm 4 months into it and I'm not sure I'm cut out for this.
They have me working with penguins and seals. I was excited at first and wondered why more experienced keepers would leave those roles open for a newcomer. I soon found out why. I find fish scales in my hair and inside my clothes and boots and pockets in places I'd never think possible. The stench has gotten into my car, home, and seemingly everything I own.
It's not just that it's hard work and low pay - I expected all that. Working in the hot sun or pouring rain, heavy lifting, etc. I learned to deal with all that at the farm internship. But I feel like my love of animals has changed somehow, like I've grown to be resentful of the animals I work with for ruining my life, even though I care about them and would hate to quit and never see them again, I don't know...when I see how all the other keepers never complain and seem to love the animals unconditionally it makes me wonder if I don't belong here.
I didn't anticipate the toll that feeling disgusting 24/7 would have on my mental health. And I'm sick of hearing about how "oh there's this trick that gets it off..." I've tried all of them. None of it works. I was just hearing 2 keepers in the break room discussing this problem and one said "Oh yeah such-and-such was a game changer in keeping the car smelling fresh." Meanwhile she reeks so strongly of cat dung and urine from 10 feet away that it's making me sick. She stinks. I stink.
I kind of want to leave and pursue something else, but I do feel guilty, both for the animals and because my friend sacrificed and helped a lot to help me get here. WIBTA for throwing her efforts out the window?

2023.05.30 08:43 ONLYZELZZ Developer mode is disabled on this device by system policy
Hi! I just graduated a few days ago of my highschool, they didn’t ask me to return it, I’m out of state rn and i took it with me for accident, i called the district and told me that there is not problem if i keep it. I tried to factory reset because my ipad broke so i can use it like a tablet(this model is touchscreen) but the developer mode itd disables because the FWMP_DEV_DISABLE_BOOT is set, its there a way to bypass this or removing the tpm chip physically if possible? I told to them that but they say that they needed physically to remove the fwmp rule so its not an option
At this point its just trash?

2023.05.30 08:41 HollowRyder19 Needing some help with the basics.
Hi guys! I just started playing graves and I'm having a blast, but im really struggling with some pretty basic concepts for him. I'm going to talk about them in the order that I am having difficulty with them.
Number one is ganking. This is probably the worst ganking jungler that I have ever played. I have only recently started playing him because I wasn't a fan of his rework and missed him as an ADC. I have been a jungle main since the open beta and his are a doozey. Between the very minimal mobility, need to get very close to deal damage, lack of CC, and inability to come from unexpected angles I just really don't know what to do if the enemy has eyes and is warding. He seems practically incapable of getting off ganks against anyone but opponents who are horribly mispositioned.
Number two is positioning in fights. Graves is an ADC with ADC health that builds ADC items, but is expected to get into melee range to deal damage. I find it very hard to position especially if I have a team comp that doesn't really afford a front to back team fight. Again his overall lack of mobility combined with how close he has to get just makes this one not super obvious to me.
Third is his clear. This is more of a feeling thing but I feel like I have a ton of down time reloading my gun when clearing and he feels like a slow clearly even though I objectively know he isn't and am clearing my camps just as fast as any other jungler. The single target camps though do feel like kind of a slog.
Fourth and finally is build order. I have a build I actually really like on him and he has a ton of build diversity which is one of the main selling points to me of the character. I just never know if I am supposed to go boots first to try and make up for his terrible mobility or if its just not worth it and to just rush first item ASAP.
Thank you and any advice is appreciated!

2023.05.30 06:38 cplmomma2004 Confused on what to do in Kansas
I saw an ex of mine today at work. I am currently traveling to other centers in our company to help out until they can get new staff hired and trained. Plus I get to learn a system/machine that we don't use in our center and I like learning new/different equipment.
The ex that I saw raped and beat me on my 18th birthday, nearly 20 years ago. I reported it to our local police then and they did nothing. I had to see him every day for the rest of the year and after graduation I moved away, joined the Marines and did the work to put him out of my mind and move forward with my life. I have not thought of him in years except for around my birthday because I have nightmares and flashbacks.
Now to the issue at hand. I recognized his name as soon as I saw it and instantly knew who he was on sight. Him confirming his date of birth gave way to any doubts that were hanging in the air. He still has the same haircut, facial hair and a scar on his face from where I scratched him while I was trying to fight him off. He still wears/uses the same Axe products he did in high school and the smell made me want to vomit. I managed to hold it together, maintain composure and professionalism and I did my job but was on edge until he left the building.
I am unsure if he realized who I am even with my name tag on. Should I report him to my boss or let it go and try to avoid him if he comes in again? Can I have him banned from the building? I know it is way to late to have him prosecuted due to the statute of limitations on rape cases but seeing him again (even by coincidence) threw me off and put my other clients in danger because I was not at the top of my game.

2023.05.30 06:32 NWOriginal00 Advice for a Senior with dated skills
Most questions here seem to be for new graduates, so here is something different.
I have been writing software for about 25 years. Almost exclusively client server business applications.
Started with MFC. Then C#(mainly version 2 with winforms). Currently using Java.
If I had to change jobs I am not sure I am qualified for much. So I am hoping for suggestions on what jobs to look for with my current skills, or what skills I could add in a reasonable amount of time to be more marketable. I am probably within 5 years of retiring so I am not looking for something which would be years long retraining.
Last time I was in the job market I found that my C# experience did not mean much with out web knowledge. And I know very little about the web. I feel my Java experience is even more useless without a web background.
C++ - I would prefer to return to this language. I am really interested in all the modern C++ additions though do not have a lot of experience. I think I could learn enough to make it through and interview in my free time though. But most of the jobs I see are specialized such as embedded, device drivers, high performance graphics, etc. I do not have any of this experience.
Java - Almost all jobs are web related. I am sure I could learn the equivalent of a fresh boot camp grad in my spare time but I really don't think I can get myself to a senior pay grade. I would really be starting from scratch. I do see a lot of backend web jobs that need Java though. Not sure how much web I need for that?
Cloud - For old school on-premise apps which I am used to, I see a lot of them going to cloud (lift and shift instead of rewriting the whole app for web). From what AWS I have been exposed to it does not seem too hard. But I really hate it. I never had any interest in IT, and the cloud just feels like being an IT guy for virtual machines. Setting up permissions, installing software, opening ports, etc. The only coding looks to be scripts. Maybe I do not have a good picture, but this world really does not interest me.
So any suggestions, other then hang on to my current job and hope I never get laid off?
