Proposal
Burn 100M Algos monthly (up to 2B) as long as Algorand is not one of the top ten coins. (The definition of top 10 coins can be adjusted as necessary)
Rationale
The current position of Algorand in terms of market cap severely hurts its potential growth (relative to what it could/should be). Investors, builders and the public are disproportionately attracted to top coins as they are perceived as more stable and future proof than smaller coins with larger communities. Becoming one of the top ten coins wouldn't happen without a (significant) price increase. Given the current constant sell pressure, the number of Algos come to the market and not that promising future prospect about any major change in this dynamic, it is less likely that Algorand outperforms (if not underperforms as history suggests) the market.
Q&A
1. I don't agree with the problem statement. Algorand is growing at a reasonable pace right now (happy days!) and in the next few years the situation will improve.
A: This argument is a risky one as it doesn't compare the current state to what Algorand growth could be. Moreover there is a good chance that opportunities that exist today may not exist in a few years. One good example is that other chains can catch up with the Algorand technical advantages given more resources they naturally receive. Ethereum migration to PoS is a good example.If anything this proposal shouldn't harm (or list them if you disagree after reading the following questions) but accelerates the growth by winning the attention of millions of people, which bring much more resources to the Algorand ecosystem.
2. I agree with the problem statement but don't like this particular proposal?
A: Please provide a different proposal with the rationale behind it that addresses the same problem.
3. Doesn't this proposal impact the foundation's Algo holdings?
A: The proposal reduces the foundation's Algo holdings in terms of number of Algos and not necessarily the dollar amount as the price increases, which is what mostly matters for the foundation operations. The ultimate job of foundation is growing Algorand ecosystem and community. Moreover how the holdings are used is expected to be decided by governors.The network fees, though small, are sent to a foundation account. Eventually the fees should be sufficient for the foundation and network costs.
4. Doesn't this proposal impact the governance rewards?
A: It might impact it. There are already plans to reduce the rewards. For most people rewards are a compensation for the Algorand inflation and if there is less (or eventually no) even with lower rewards they probably continue to participate.
5. Isn't burning Algos a bad practice?
A: Burning Algos has happened in the past. Moreover, 10B is just a number and if really necessary in the future new Algos can be minted with the governors' vote. The same way that the transaction fees might need to be adjusted.

So I’m currently looking locally at 2 bullfrog tubs. One is A8L series and other is A6L. Both asking same price. Both have been owned since 1/2020.
On the A6L, due to health issues can no longer be used in any capacity. However, it was drained after the health diagnosis and been sitting dry since 07/2022. I live in heat of Arizona. (Although heat last year was not bad at all, and worst temps only lasted a week or 2 not 3 months as usual) This was kept under complete shade on back patio, and kept covered. What should I be worried about since it’s been dry in AZ heat for almost a year. Tub is beautiful and looks brand new. I asked to witness it running, so they filled and I’m going back in a few days to check for leaks. Also was told they’d run it for about an hour today after filling. Should I be concerned has been kept dry so long? What should I be worried with and test?

For those of you that missed out on the initial aftermarket rush for the limited/exhibition only 40th anniversary BDs for the movies My Conquest Is the Sea of Stars and Overture to a New War, there is a limited amount of leftover stock available for sale through an exclusive retail partnership between Tokuma and Canime. These are brand new from the manufacturer, meaning they aren't going through a re-sellescalper, and they're priced accordingly at ¥6,600 each, after taxes, with free domestic shipping. This is the exact same price they originally sold for at exhibition!
Bear in mind that these are the same exclusives sold during the theatrical screenings, so stock is limited to whatever was left over from that initial production run. At this time, both movies currently appear to still be in stock. I placed an order for one of each myself and got a confirmation email, so there's no indication as of yet that they've run out. As both movies have become hard to find in the aftermarket, and the ones that do pop up sell for crazy scalper prices (especially Conquest), this is absolutely the best way to get physical copies if you missed your chance before.
You will need to use a proxy or forwarder to order these unless you live in Japan, as this website (like so many others) does not ship internationally. I used a forwarder (avoids unnecessary extra fees and the hassle of ordering through a middle-man), but any decent proxy should work just fine (though you will almost certainly have to submit a manual request to order).

Okay I'm getting scared. It started off simple, Just a small error on an obs video in my hard drive. No biggie just delete it and start over, Well it worked. The next day I opened up premiere, And tried to open my recordings folder. It said "This folder is corrupt and unreadable by windows." Huh.. Thats odd. I could access other folders though so I searched it up, It told me to check the security properties and it said "You do not have permission to view or change this objects permission settings"

I checked the other folders' properties and they said the same, And all of a sudden I couldn't access any of the files. I then checked the hard drive and it said the same thing, And then when I tried to restart windows I couldn't even get permission to view the drive.

at this point I tried mostly anything I could find on the internet but all outputs just led to the permissions being too low to try any of those. And then the disk stopped showing the storage it had inside it.

Windows can't access its own disk??? At this point I felt like I had installed a virus, No idea what to do but my C disk runs perfectly. Any help?

This past Saturday, I was working on the production crew for two high school graduations, and I saw several students with developmental disabilities receive their diplomas. I was overcome with joy and love for them especially this one girl who has the same name as my great grandma. But for some reason, I've been also overcome with this concern and fear for these precious souls in regards to their spiritual and temporal needs. For example, the girl I mentioned was with a woman who I assume was her mother, and who appeared to be rather advanced in age. I worry that when the parents are gone, these brothers and sisters may not receive loving, compassionate, and wholesome care that they need. I've been offering my rosaries for them the past few days, but now I have this greater fear of what may become of people with such disabilities in the eternal sense as well. If their parents never have them baptized and they never receive their sacraments, especially considering they may not have the faculties to seek or desire Christ themselves (at least outwardly observable to a meat head like myself), what hope can we have to see them in heaven? On one hand, I want to believe that they may actually be closer to God's heart and that Our Lord and Our Lady extend a special protection and love to these little ones, and it is my optimistic suspicion that they will be much better suited to enter heaven than the rest of us... but I simply cannot shake the fear and concern of that not being the case. I've heard it said that the Church has taught of a place called Limbo, where God allows unbaptized babies to remain since they can't enter heaven. Perhaps this would also be the case for those with developmental disabilities? I don't know the particulars of this teaching, or even if it's accurate, and I would very much appreciate someone with more wisdom to help me understand. My heart is very grieved by the mere thought of these souls being lost, or even the chance they could be denied the fullness of heaven, due to original sin and the failure of someone else to help them obtain the grace of the sacraments.

I moved to the states when I was 12 years old. I spent more time in US than I did in the country i was born (Iran). I fully adopted the American culture. I moved at very early age that I don’t really remember my life in Iran. United States is where i call home now. However, because English is my second language, i have an accent and i make grammar mistakes here and there. Because of my accent, 8 out of 10 people ask where I am from and when I tell them I am from Iran people always say “sorry” and i get in to conversations that i really don’t like having multiple times a day. I work at a retail shop and most of my interactions with customers i get asked this question. Now help please help me Reddit. When someone asks “where are you from?” Do i have to reply with where i was born? Or can I just say San Diego since that’s where i lived most of my life and will continue to stay. I’m just trying to avoid having to explain myself multiple times a day and tired of telling the same story. I need some suggestions here.

at work I “treasure” my relationships with the older men I work with. most of my friendships I have at work are with them. I love the way they treat me, or how they joke with me. I hate that I love it :(. Even though my boss is my biggest enemy and he always is getting on to me, and I take his criticism very personal, the moment he calls me “little one” the endearment just fuels the serotonin and dopamine inside my little brain. I hate that I enjoy it so much. With the older kitchen staff I have good friendships with them as well.. and with them it hits harder because we share the same culture/ethnicity and many of them remind me of my dad. It doesnt help that its very obvious im their favorite server as well.. they are always so fast to help me. At the end of each day im reminded of my father and how much I wish/miss the overall picture of a father. I hate that I enjoy this treatment at work simply because I cant get it in my actual relationship with him. Even if my dad was to treat me like a princess or we could joke togethehave a fun and healthy relationship I simply would reject it… Because of the fear of abandonment and the feeling of never getting past this runs through my head everyday. I cling to these work relationships because even if it was to end I can easily tell myself “well hes just a coworker” . none of it was even real! but with my dad its like. well. youre my dad and nothing is being fulfilled :D

As the title suggests i think ive been scammed on craigslist. It’s embarrassing for me to admit but hoping posting this will give me some clarity as to what to do next. Specifically it was this posting :
The person claims they are James Godwin and owner of the property. They asked for payment upfront of the unit (in hindsight i shouldve pressed more to see it) as i would be there only for the summer. The payment went to someone with a similar name James Richards but when i called they said they didnt know anything about the property, but happily accepted my money -_-. I emailed the person i was corresponding who claims that he is the owner what the relationship between the two people is but he didn’t answer. Ive spent more money than im embarrassed to say and wish i could hit ctrl z on this experience. The person transfered me to the “Property Document Storage” manager who supposedly has the key and will do a walkthrough of the apartment this friday. Maybe i am overreacting but at the same time wanted to see if anyone else fell for this and if i should just report it to the FTC and the police at this point.

my mother and i lived alone although i have many other siblings all step or half siblings except my youngest sister (14F) who is 100% biologically related to me. i despise the rest of my family apart from my mother or sister because when i was younger i was rped by my brother and mlested by my father and only my mother believed me.
my mother was the kindest woman you could know, of course she had her issues but who didn’t.
she had drinking problems, i always begged her to stop but it never worked. my younger sister pleaded with her as well but it never helped.
my entire life i had never gone more than 2 days without talking to my mother, we were as close as you can be to one another.
the week prior to her passing her drinking was exceptionally bad and she had a fall during the week and i wanted to maybe speak to my school and see if they could help me get her help, the entire staff dismissed me. throughout the week i was being super bitchy and blunt to my mum because i was sick of her drinking, she was so bad i started taking photos and recording all our conversations. i even tried calling helplines for her but nobody wanted to speak to me. saturday night i had a party to go to and i was having a friend come back to my house after the party to stay the night but before i left for the party my mums room which she hasn’t left most of the week reeked and she wasn’t eating any of the food i was giving her even after se complained her blood sugar was dropping and her blood pressure was rising, doctors described her as a ticking time bomb because her medical issues were so bad. but that night i still felt like going to a party. at the party i started feeling extremly sick although i hadn’t drank or anything i was looking at myself and i was going green and i couldn’t help but just lay backwards on a bed trying to keep my eyes open. i started saying something was wrong and i tried calling and texting my mum for an uber home because i wanted to leave but she wasn’t replying, when i eventually got an uber home i didn’t greet my mum like i usually would when i arrive home from an event i just went straight to bed with my friend. and in the morning i went to say good morning to my mother andi just saw her laying on the floor with blood streaming from her nose i went to go her cpr But i couldn’t work up the courage to touch her so i screamed for my friend to call the ambulance and i ran outside throwing up and calling my other best friends bc i know i couldn’t do this alone.
i had to see my brother who raped me as he was the only family i had in the state which just made it all so much worse for me and as i’m only 17 my brother was made senior next of kin and he was making all the decisions on everything.
mums memorial was this past saturday and today is one month since i found her, i have never gone over two days without speaking to her and it’s been a month. i don’t know how i’m gonna do this it’s so scary for me and i need her so badly i miss her with my whole heart i act like i’m okay but i can’t do it the dark scared me running water scares me simple noises scare me the wound of abulace scares me i am so scared i’ve never imagined life without her i always told her we would live together when we’re both old now i’m 17 and i’ve moved in with a friend but i have so much love around me but nothing is the same as it was before.
i don’t know what to do without her all i see when i close my eyes is her dead body just laying there and i try leaving her alone that night so badly.

Today was a very eventful day in San Francisco while riding the waymo. I had lost my phone in the car and went through the process of retrieving it back. In the same day, while ordering another waymo to go pick up my lost item, my waymo pulled up and ended up getting hit by another driver before I could get in. AMA? Because why not? Proof

Here are my views on this:

• Windows: The Windows attitude towards privacy isn't good with their data collection and telemetry data increasing gradually from 8 to 10 to 11. In fact, most geeks across the support forums think that 7 is probably the safest and most privacy friendly Windows version but MS is doing everything it can to ensure that newer software doesn't support 7 and it just goes into obsolescence.
  The "default" state in which a W10/11 laptop comes today is so privacy unfriendly that it sends all kinds of data like contacts, location, etc. to Microsoft and their "trusted partners". You can't turn off this data unless you've visited power user forums and know exactly where to find them, and basic telemetry still won't be disabled of course.
  As ironic and unintuitive as it seems, Microsoft Windows was probably much better in privacy department during the bad old days of Gates and Ballmer compared to the good "open source and geek friendly" days of Satya Nadella!
  
• Mac: Apple systems should ideally be privacy friendly considering the amount of premium they charge to their products and services. But how well does that work in practice? I've never used an Apple product but those who use them seem to have the impression that they're no good in this department compared to others! Logic tells me that a more capitalist devil should be no different than the less capitalist one, they're probably all the same when it comes to throwing user's privacy in the bin!
  
• Linux: Linux used to be the holy grail of users who cared about privacy many years ago but does that still hold good today? Ubuntu was also in some data collection controversy or other many times in past, but how is the state of things today? And what about the derivative distros, are they good too?
  

I cried yesterday, and the day before that, and the day before that. I cry because I am haunted by memories of the love I will never be able to let go of and it makes me feel pathetic. I’ve been posting for a while, trying to find a connection with someone. Someone to talk to about my day, about life, about interests. Someone I can trust won’t judge me if I’m having a bad day or if things are getting stressful, and vice versa.

Ahoy there, land lubbers. I was recently marooned on an island by a former mate, perhaps more than once. Now I am in search for me own new crew, or to join yours should you be so bold. I have listed my qualifications below for your consideration:

1. I have sailed these cursed shores far and wide for only the most exquisite memes for your plundering pleasure. If any port registries ask, the original posters gave them to me.
2. I be an experienced, albeit not always competent and and battle hardened pirate. I often spend my time on the waves taking the slower paced routes, but have begun to take on that dastardly damned fortress, and possibly even a few of them world events. To get better at pvp and earn their rewards is an ultimate goal, but one that cannot be done by me lonesome.
3. I know many quotes from fellow pirates in the media, and can do terrible impressions of them. Fortunately for you, we are never far from a port in these waters.
4. I commonly change my appearance; to confuse our enemies, of course..
5. I am only terrible on the cannons half the time. Wait.. that's not a flex...
6. Are you also someone who would deem themselves fancy with a camera? Aye? Well, we'll get alone fine, I have more photos of the things I encounter that days of the year. Atleast, I think so.. I'm not so hot on the numbers.
7. Did you know there are cars that run on water, man? And we're out on water all the time! How fortunate!

This question of mine is for the members of this sub who come from a Dravidian or Tribal background. When my dad was posted in Jharkhand, he used to hang out alot with the tribals as they were his colleagues.
And he heard from the elders of Munda tribe something like - "Our ancestors tell, there were violent clashes between them (the Hindus) and our people, we lost in the mainland and were forced to take refuge in the mountains and harsh terrains. Here, we had tactical advantage and they couldn't beat us anymore, and eventually left us alone".
This Munda tribe is the same tribe that the Rig Vedic villain Sambara belongs to, whom for the protagonist Divodasa it took 40 years to defeat.
You guys would also be surprised to know that the mountain, the Marang Buru mountain, where Sambara was defeated and thrown off of, is still worshipped by the Munda and Santhal tribals as the abode of their ancestors.
So, dear people who come from Dravidian or Tribal backgrounds, do the elders in your family have any recollection of tales that might belong to the times of Indus Valley, Pre Indus Valley, or Aryan-Dravidian clashes? This topic fascinates me and I'd love to know your stories.
