Memory transcription subject: Captain Sovlin, United Nations Fleet Command Date [standardized human time]: January 15, 2137 It wasn’t my imagination; our triangular shuttle was sinking like a stone. Water bobbed up against the cockpit windows, entombing us beneath the waves. Hull integrity would eventually give out and allow water to flood the compartment. The predators were just watching it happen, with not nearly enough panic showing in their binocular eyes. They made no attempt to inflate a life raft and escape, while we could still get the doors open.
The craft had tipped forward at a slight angle, and the airborne vehicle began to sink nose-first toward a watery grave. A feeling of immense claustrophobia gripped me, as the nightmare scenario came to fruition. My claws wrapped around Samantha’s arm before I could stop myself; the human looked at me with sheer disbelief, and pushed me away. Her nose was scrunched in an obvious sign of distaste. Carlos would’ve definitely been more amenable to my desperate outreach for support.
Samantha heaved a sigh. “I’m going to pretend you didn’t just fucking do that, but it better not
ever happen again.”
“Please! We’re sinking!” I croaked.
Onso snickered. “Sinking? You don’t feel the engines running? It’s a submersible aircraft.”
Upon closer listening, I could feel the quiet hum of the engines. Somehow, the combustion drive was still running underwater, and pushing us in a controlled manner further into the ocean. There were no signs of leaks seeping through the walls, despite being encased in the depths. I’d never heard of a plane that could fly underwater, but I should’ve gleaned our safety from the predators’ calmness.
If a human is running or terrified, that’s when it’s time to assume our deaths are imminent. Sam wasn’t the least bit amused by me latching onto her arm, but Tyler and Carlos were both masking smirks. I dipped my head in shame. How had the Yotul known of technology which was unfathomable to the wider galaxy? Until today, I wouldn’t have thought such devices would ever have a use. It was embarrassing that the primitive kept his head better than me around novel technology, though I tried to push that egoistic thought out of my mind.
“Do the Yotul have this kind of technology, Onso?” I prompted the reddish-furred marsupial to answer, though I knew the reply would be in the negative. “I’ve never heard of such things, so I’m surprised it’s old news to you.”
“Well, I took it upon myself to read up on the specs; they were included with our briefing notes. Never know when shit’s gonna break, and someone’s gotta fix it. The Yotul have a saying, ‘Everything can break, so assume it will do so today.’”
“That’s valid. Every spacecraft crash is due to a ‘one-in-a-billion’ mechanical failure; unlikelihood upon unlikelihood. Uh, anyhow, I’m a little out of my element here, clearly nothing like you.”
“I don’t mind the water, Sovlin. Mama had a sailboat, which she’d take around the harbor. It was a little disappointing to hear human water activities involve hunting. There’s so many beautiful things to see; it’s the last untamed frontier. Even after space is explored, the oceans still hold so many mysteries and unique lifeforms!”
“Plenty of humans agree with you, even ones who enjoy fishing like Tyler. We’ll go snorkeling or scuba diving just to explore reefs and view marine life,” Carlos chimed in. “No boat, nothing but a basic breathing apparatus.”
“There’s water sports too. Surfing, where you try to ride massive waves on a board.” Samantha made odd gestures with her hands, as though conveying a series of hills. “Parasailing, up in the sky tied to a boat. White water rafting, where you go down turbulent, rocky rapids in an inflatable.”
I groaned. “Why…are any of those
not mortally dangerous?! What is wrong with you predators? I thought you evolved from the fucking trees!”
“It’s all in the spirit of fun, a memorable experience. Don’t tell me none of it sounds like something you want to try once.”
“No, those stunts sound horrible.
This is horrible. I can see the depth meter going up…it’s double digits! I can’t see the sky!”
“Quit being a baby.”
“Quit being a predator! I hate humans; I can’t stand you! Onso, back me up.”
“The surfing sounds totally badass. I can imagine riding a wave up to its crest, and trying not to fall,” the Yotul answered. “We should try it together, old man. Conquer your fears, do things you think you can’t.”
“I am not doing that. No way on the cradle.”
Tyler sported a devilish grin. “Hey, it could be worse, Sovlin. You could be doing shark cage diving.”
I offered the blond human a blank stare. Through the cockpit behind him, I noticed orange-striped fish swimming clear of the aerosub. There was a dark shadow in the murky depths below, which filled me with palpable unease. What if it was some sort of massive predator which hid in this oceanic range? Chewing at my claws with anxiety, I tried to parse through what he said.
Cage diving? That can’t be what it sounds like; locking yourself in a cage and jumping into the water…not trying to escape. What’s a shark? We moved closer to the ambiguous shadow within the turquoise ocean, which I tried to ignore. The humans would freak out if there was reason for alarm; I couldn’t make a fool of myself again. Plastering a look of confusion on my face, I flicked a claw at Tyler for an explanation. His blue eyes twinkled with amusement, and my former guards watched with interest.
“Ah, you’re wondering what that is.” Officer Cardona tapped his fingers against his holopad, and noticed that his Yotul exchange partner was intrigued too. He showed a picture to Onso first. “I’d say it’s self-explanatory. Oh, and, yes, they have side-facing eyes, but sharks are predators. Humans have movies about them eating us, even though that’s uncommon in reality.”
Tyler turned the device toward me, and I flinched away with disbelief. Sure enough, a pack of Terrans were suspended in a metal cage below the water. “Sharks” circled them with predatory intent, serrated teeth visible. From what I’d learned about Gojids being omnivores, I’d trust the primates on binocular eyes not being necessary to eat living food. However, deciphering human behavior was a maddening endeavor. Was this some twisted way of reasserting their dominance as apex predators, against animals that dared to prey on them?
“You just said it was in fucked-up human movies…it’s CGI! That’s not a real fucking thing!” I screamed. “I thought we were keeping it
professional, huh? You all are definitely saying, and making up, predator nonsense on purpose, at this point!”
Tyler flashed his teeth. “It’s real. We don’t need to make anything up; humans will go to great lengths for thrills.”
“That seems to be tempting fate. I’ve always believed in respecting nature, though it would be cool to see these animals up close,” Onso said.
“Good news: you can see them in aquariums too.”
I thought humans would think water decorations were stupid…wait, what did he just say?! My spines were bristling. “You have aquariums, like the Kolshians on Aafa?”
“Yep,” Tyler affirmed.
“And instead of sea plants, you keep dangerous predators in them?”
“Yeah? They’re cool to look at, man.”
“Protector, I don’t care if we’re in the middle of the ocean. I want off this sinking boat!”
Carlos stifled a laugh. “Well, your wish is about to be granted. This puppy isn’t meant to dive deeper than 100 meters. The
UNS Deep Core is up ahead.”
The foreboding shadow had grown larger in my periphery, and my eyes swiveled back to the viewport. It was a submersed ship, but one that was so large, its breadth faded into the murky distance. There was no way this wasn’t in the triple digits of meters long; the all-black, undecorated exterior would cause an observer to mistake it for a shadowy patch of water. There was a tower affixed to its spine, which perhaps housed an equivalent to a bridge.
“The humans must’ve snuck this ship here days ago. How long has it been lurking?” I murmured to myself. “They couldn’t have airdropped it from too high up either…I don’t think.”
Samantha rubbed her hands together. “If you think this is the only one sent, think again. We’re told as much as we need to know, Sovlin, but it’s a blast to fill in the blanks.”
Our aerosub glided down to the bottom of the
Deep Core, before flipping over and latching onto to a watertight door. It was similar to how a spacecraft would dock for boarding; my concerns were assuaged a little, noticing some familiarity. Packing such a large crew into a metal tube must be stressful for any land-dwelling species, but the humans were insane enough to tuck their senses aside. There could be enough predators aboard to compose a small village.
I disliked the fact that I was hanging at a ninety-degree angle, though I didn’t voice my complaints. The humans awkwardly dismounted, with Tyler helping Onso down. Carlos hoisted me to my own two feet, and I took a steadying breath. Our own watertight hatch, which I mistook for an emergency exit when I thought it was a sane vehicle, was on the right exit. There was a click, as human personnel opened the circular door from the other side.
The five of us were helped up through the threshold into the submarine, and we admired the metal inner workings of our surroundings. The tunnels were narrow, with small doorways leading between compartments; many required a slight step up to clear. One Terran greeted us at our docking point, though he wore a different uniform than the getup I was used to. I wasn’t sure what to expect from land predators who operated underwater, but the ample facial hair checked out with my mental image.
“Welcome aboard the
Deep Core. I’m Commander Fournier; your presence is requested on the bridge,” a gruff voice greeted us.
I blinked in confusion. “May I ask why…sir?”
“First aliens to step foot on a submarine. You’re VIPs; it’s a good photo-op, you could say. Follow me.”
Of course, the humans are worried about optics as we’re descending to an outlandish location. Sometimes, they’re awfully predictable. Claustrophobia threatened to flare up, with the cramped passages and lack of direction. Onso showed no such uneasiness, forcing Tyler to ensure that the Yotul studied objects with his eyes, not his paws. The primitive seemed enamored with any machinery or design quirks, even basic things such as hinges. I was really trying not to look down on him, but when he was gawking at simplistic nails, it was difficult. At least his dimwitted curiosity was a distraction from our present environment.
The bearded commander led us to a steep stairway, and communicated for us to follow his lead. There was a thunderous bark of “up ladder!” before the human-in-charge popped open a hatch. Tyler waved a hand at me and Onso, signaling for us to climb after Fournier first. I ensured that my balance was steady, hustling up the rungs. There was a railing surrounding the hatch, along with a safety chain that our guide was unclipping.
“Sir, may I ask how much air we have left?” I couldn’t resist asking, despite being out of breath from the short ascent. “I presume you’ve been submerged a few days. Even spaceships can only carry a few weeks of oxygen, and I don’t see any tanks, um…”
Fournier issued a throaty laugh. “Scared of submarines, Gojid?”
“A little, uh, yes…sir.”
“Don’t be. We have as much air as there is water in the ocean.”
Onso bounded after us. “The Terrans use electrolysis to separate the hydrogen from the oxygen in seawater they collect, then use that O2 to ventilate the ship.”
“Why, I like this one!” the commander bellowed. “Read up on subs, haven’t ya?”
“It drew me in…like a vortex of knowledge. I always liked machines.”
“Then I take it you’re an engineer? I can see that kid-like glee in your eyes.”
“A rocket engineer. The unchanging rules, the complex order, the concreteness and the planning: it speaks to me. Having a new class of machines to study really lit that fire, for the first time since the Federation killed my passion. Not even studying your weaponry truly scratched that itch. It’s just, I never dreamed I’d discover a new alien boat!”
“Well, well! I’m no engineer, but I’ll be happy to share what I know. Feel free to ask any questions; we love talking about what we do, to someone who really wants to hear it.”
“Thank you, sir.”
Commander Fournier led us into a stout compartment, where a vast array of gadgetry and screens covered a wall. Humans were examining a green circle on display, with a rotating line and labeled angles. Data feeds were also listed there, which led me to conclude it was a sensors equivalent. Navigations was at the front, at least from the appearance of several control columns. Some predators appeared to be acting as officers or supervisors, peering over others’ shoulders and issuing commands.
This isn’t that dissimilar to a starship, but where is the viewport? How can they see? I cleared my throat. “Sir, where is the viewport? There’s no windows!”
“We don’t need windows,” Fournier explained. “We use sonar, because sound travels further in water than light. Glass or transparent materials are just a weak point in the hull, and a potential source of leaks if we take a hit.”
“Okay. Then why did the submersible craft we took here have windows?”
“Because it needs to be a spacecraft too, and you need to see when you’re flying. It’s useful enough to outweigh any concerns,” Carlos chimed in.
“This is so cool!” Onso bounced on his digitigrade hindlegs, and the commander fortunately didn’t take offense to his excess excitement. “The sonar doesn’t need to see at all. It just…
listens.”
Fournier nodded. “Precisely. I saw you examining the bearings on our machinery, and I’ll impress upon you the importance of noise reduction down here. We keep everything detached from the hull frame to avoid vibrations…even dropping a wrench can give you up to an enemy. Sonar receptors pick up the slightest vibration, and then, they know you’re there.”
“That explains why your engines have to be so quiet. I was reading about how you try to avoid cavitation…you know, where the vacuum pressure caused by the propeller makes water boil. The bubbles pop and give off noise.”
“You don’t need a rundown at all, Yotul; you already know everything. We have a speed range where we can operate silently.”
I was growing bored of the technical explanations, and Onso, a primitive, was outshining my knowledge to the humans. Perhaps the Yotul was desperate to prove himself as an academic equal, but he didn’t need to prattle on about science like he was reading a textbook. While there were impressive feats of engineering on display here, I agreed with Samantha’s assertion of naval obsolescence. What good was fighting in the water, except in this extraordinary circumstance?
The predators can hide far away from any targets or locations of value forever. How ingenious. They’d be unseen altogether if the other human tribes realized this theater was irrelevant in a war. I suppressed an irritated huff. “Permission to speak freely, sir?”
“Granted,” Fournier replied, a curious twinkle in his eyes.
“Respectfully, sir, I do not see the purpose of putting all this time into submarine development, at least for military aims. You’re a spacefaring species, and you’re incredible at ground assaults. What use is it to hide so far away from civilization…from the action? Maybe you sink a few ships that are using an outdated method of moving resources, but I don’t get it. You have better weapons.”
“You really don’t know? To use your word, these ships are masterful predators; nearly undetectable, capable of hearing the slightest sound, and able to surface anywhere in the world. But it goes far beyond that. The destructive power housed here is a hell of a deterrent. That’s why we’d never
actually trade nukes like ya Feddies thought we did.”
“Nukes? I’m not following.”
“There’s tens of nukes stuffed onto just one of these things. We can hang off the shore anywhere, and fire missiles while underwater. Not that we have to be close to our target; we can shoot ICBMs halfway around the world. You never know where we are, if it’s right down your neck or prowling distant shores. We’re waiting to strike, anywhere and everywhere, with the technology to end civilization itself, even after command is destroyed on land. Obsolete, my ass.”
I gulped with discomfort, wishing I could recede into the ship walls. That declaration was so calm yet predatorily destructive; there were chilling implications for the extent of human aggression. It suddenly made sense why Earth tribes were intent on sniffing these predators out of the ocean’s recesses, and why the subs tried to remain undetectable at all costs. Should the current battle go awry, Talsk could be devastated by an unseen arsenal of epic proportions.
As Commander Fournier took his post, I tried to understand why humans would devise such machinations, for use against their own civilization. The Federation’s “irradiated Earth” could’ve been a reality; these capabilities shouldn’t exist in any culture. I didn’t understand why my kind-hearted friends would even think of such predatory weaponry. Surely, understanding the apocalyptic consequences of these vehicles should’ve convinced them not to build them.
My therapist could’ve elaborated further on the full heights of Terran aggression. Humans didn’t enjoy killing, yet they brainstormed and actualized the optimal ways to kill every human in existence? It was a paradox. Perhaps their predator nature factored into their decision-making in a manner they didn’t understand. Orders were issued to begin our descent, and for all sailors to report to battle stations. I felt the submersible tilt down, so I tried to clear my head of what the primates were capable of.
I have to believe that they will never actually do something like that…that their goodness will prevail. They didn’t snap after Earth, right? I trust their better judgment. “W-well, if there’s really a base at the bottom of the ocean, the Farsul are fucked,” I murmured to my posse.
Samantha’s fist tightened, as her smirk returned. “I’d say they are.”
The numbers on the depth meter continued to escalate, as the submarine navigated the ocean which spanned below us. Locked inside a steel tube with predators, and knowing the potential of its onboard weaponry, my nerves were anything but quelled. The submarines somehow eclipsed even the worst starships in its dastardly capabilities. The Farsul wouldn’t be prepared for this predatory contraption, should we stumble across any of their flotilla.
I was glad that the humans were on the same team as me; there was no telling where their capacity for annihilation ended.

2023.06.03 15:28 LieQuirky3751 Can we scooters spontaneously combust?
Hi. I live in the UK, where the current e-scooter laws are a mess.
This week, a number of train operators have banned e-scooters being taken on board their trains despite acknowledging the risk of fires from the devices being small.
London Fire Brigade keep showing videos of e-scooters catching fire in kitchens/hallways etc, but aren't these cases of dodgy or (likely) modified machines catching fire whilst charging? Whilst I accept that someone bringing their e-scooter on board may have the opportunity to charge while travelling (assuming they find a plug..), I think the vast majority just want to transport for the 'last mile' journey.
What's the likelihood of a machine, not actually being charged, suddenly spouting flames? I live in a private flat, have a modest <£500 machine (Megawheels A6) for casual use and my SO is now concerned that it could suddenly explode. I only ever charge it when I'm in the flat, never overnight and always unplug the charger when it turns green.
Should I/she be worried? Are UK train operators being overly risk averse? I came back last week from a short break in Valencia and e-scooters were everywhere and quite happily being taken on public transport. Why is the UK so chicken-sh!t??

They are just waiting for one thing - your verdict." "What they are trying to do to Michael Jackson is so harmful, so brutal, so devastating if you have any reasonable doubt about the double-talk, the lies, its over. You must acquit Michael Jackson," he told the 12 jurors. Mesereau spoke about the American system of justice and said, "We have the best system in the world and ladies and gentlemen I'm begging you to honor the system. You must acquit him." He accused prosecutors of trying to "dirty up Michael" because they lack the evidence to prove their case. "The witnesses are preposterous, the perjury is everywhere," Mesereau declared. "None of it works. The only thing they've had is to throw dirt all over the place and hope it sticks." He added: "If you look in your hearts do you believe Michael Jackson is evil in that way? Is it even possible? It really is not." Mesereau then played excerpts from a video in which Jackson denies any sexual impropriety and said that he had never been betrayed or deceived by children. The defense attorney conceded that Jackson had been lax with his money and had let the wrong people into his circle. But, he said, the singer was not the monster the prosecution were trying to depict and that he was not guilty of any crime. Afterwards, prosecutor Ron Zonen delivered a brief rebuttal. He sought to answer the question of Jacksons motivation for the crime asking, "Why would Mr. Jackson do it? Because he could This child was in love with him. This child would do anything he said." Zonen reminded jurors of the past allegations made against Jackson saying that this was necessary in order to see the total picture. He claimed that Jackson was in love with his 1993 accuser and added that the current accuser is a clone of the boy in that case. After both sides rested for the last time, Judge Rodney Melville ordered the eight women and four men on the jury to begin their deliberations. He gave them a 98-page book of instructions. The Judge told Jackson that he could stay at Neverland during the proceedings but requested that the attorneys remain within 10 minutes of the courthouse in case the jurors had any questions. These deliberations are the final stage of an ordeal that began 14 weeks ago. During this time the jury has heard testimony from over 130 witnesses. A verdict was expected early next week. Court Transcript While Jury deliberations take place, the whole Jackson family waits for the verdict at Neverland. https://preview.redd.it/lh5l7gqo0p3b1.jpg?width=612&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e5967b6b6c73b0a56bec2b5b8e28f20e68b9ddb7 2008 - Michael has dinner with Thomas Barrack Jr, chairman and CEO of Colony Capital LLC, at the Las Vegas Hilton's Verona Sky Villa. 2009 - Michael goes to Culver Studios with Prince, Paris & Kenny Ortega, where he shoots “The Drill” 3D https://preview.redd.it/5lzzqj2t0p3b1.jpg?width=736&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8747a49dd0f9c68ae73b6f93fa21e2f9e01b6a77 https://preview.redd.it/hezl4ayt0p3b1.jpg?width=199&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1dae7ef1a99ee196a5be6dbfb8cd5ab243856f58 He also, once again, goes to Dr Klein’s in Beverly Hills. 2013 - Jackson v AEG Trial Day 22 No Jackson family member was at the courthouse. Paul Gongaware AEG cross Putnam asked Gongaware if MJ was comfortable with all the show dates. "Yes, I went through all of the dates with him," Gongaware said. Bugzee, the tour manager, had a big calendar on the walls, Gongaware explained, saying they changed the dates of the shows four times. The jury was shown an email in which Gongaware worked with a staffer to create a calendar to show Jackson. He wanted colors changed. He wanted the calendar to be changed so that it reflected Jackson's show dates and off days differently. Gongaware email: Figure it out so it looks like he's not working so much As to the email, Putnam asked if he was trying to fool Michael: "No, I was trying to make it clear, trying to get it just the way I wanted it," Gongaware responded. After changing 4 show dates Gongaware said Michael was comfortable with it. He would do 8 shows in July, 10 in August, 9 in September. There would be no shows in October, November and December, resuming with 10 shows in January, 10 in February and three in March. No back-to-back shows. Gongaware said the O2 Arena had a previous commitment in Oct-Dec of 2009 and they could not have the concerts. Putnam: "Was this a rigorous schedule?" Gongaware: "No, not at all" Gongaware recalled that on the HIStory tour they did 10-12 shows per month, from country to country, but this one would stay in London only. Gongaware said he wasn't concerned with Michael's age. "He seemed great to me," he said, and this was stationary show, didn't have to travel. Gongaware: The reason Michael wanted to delay the 1st show was he wanted more time to rehearse in the O2 Arena where the show would take place. He said Michael and Kenny Ortega would decide the rehearsal schedule. Gongaware explained Michael didn't have to attend rehearsals, since it was not part of his deal. He said they never require an artist to rehearse. "I didn't have any expectation," Gongaware said regarding Michael rehearsing. He said he's never seen a requirement for a musicial artist to rehearse & that during the HIStory tour, Michael didn't rehearse but nailed it. "When it was game time, he would show up," Gongaware explained. For instance, Gongaware cited an outdoor concert in Bangkok in high heat, humidity. As to the email Gongaware wrote about calling Michael lazy, he said he used unfortunate choices of words, Michael didn't like to rehearse. Talking about the elements of the show, Gongaware described what they wanted to do for the opening of the show. He said Michael would be dressed up in a LED suit, like a television, flashing on him brief movie about things that happened in history. Michael would be lowered down onto the stage. He called the LED suit a "Moon man" suit, but Ortega called it "Light man." Putnam showed a presentation of how the LED suit idea would work. Footage is not on This Is It documentary because it was early stages of prep. Gongaware said the 1st idea was to make Michael float from the audience, but they couldn't make it work. So they decided to lower him down onto the stage. Gongaware said the big screen on the back of the stage was 3D capable. The audience would be given glasses when they entered the show. The 3D songs would be Thriller, Earth Song and Smooth Criminal. "He wanted to do biggest, best show ever, live show," Gongaware said Putnam showed email chain from Ortega to Gongaware asking to make a deal with choreographer Travis Payne. Answer from Gongaware: This is not AEG money, it's Michael's money so it takes a lot of time to get approvals Defendants were trying to establish a pattern that all the money spent was actually Michael's money, not AEG's, just like with Dr. Murray At one point Gongaware said he learned from Michael about a doctor named Murray. "He came to me and said he wanted his personal doctor on the tour". Gongaware said he suggested to Michael to get a licensed doctor in London who would know the lay of the land, in case of need. "This is the machine, we have to take care of the machine. I want Conrad," Gongaware said Michael responded. I think what he meant was his brain could create it but his body had to deliver the show every night Putnam: "Were you surprised he wanted to take his doctor on tour?" Gongaware: "No" Putnam: "Why not?" Gongaware: "He had doctors before" Gongaware said other artists take doctors as well, so he was not the only one and it didn't surprise him. Gongaware said he's been on tour before where an artist had chiropractors, but couldn't remember being in one with a doctor Putnam: "Did you worry Michael might have a health issue?" Gongaware: "No" Putnam: "Why not?" Gongaware: "He seemed fine to me, had a physical and passed" Gongaware said the suggestion for a London doctor was due to the cost; paying a doctor full time was much more expensive than hiring a local doctor. Gongaware said Dr. Murray treated Michael for about three years before 2009. He knew the doctor was from Las Vegas but said he was in LA. Gongaware said he then called Dr. Murray to work out a deal. Gongaware testified he didn't have Michael's direct phone number, would go through Michael Amir Williams, his personal assistant, to reach him. Gongaware called Murray on behalf of Michael saying the singer wanted to take him to London. "What do you want to be paid for that," Gongaware asked. Gongaware said he thought Dr. Murray was expecting his call and was aware of the desire to take him on tour. "He said he would need $5 million," Gongaware recalled. "He said he has 4 clinics to close, would lay off people, needs $5 million for that." Asked by Putnam if Murray's price was reasonable: "It was ridiculous," Gongaware said about the amount asked. "It was a lot of money for something like that and Michael could not afford it." Gongaware said he responded that it wasn't going to work" He said this was the first time he spoke with Dr. Murray. After that, Gongaware said he told Michael Amir and Randy Phillips what the doctor had asked. He also told Frank DiLeo. Gongaware said a lot of people who wanted to work for MJ asked for huge sums of money, thinking he had a lot. Putnam: "Would you be doing this if Michael had not asked you?" Gongaware: "No" Putnam: "Did you contemplate bringing a doctor on tour?" Gongaware: "I didn't think he needed one, we didn't have one in History, he was fine" "He was Michael's doctor, Michael wanted him. That was it," Gongaware said. Putnam:" Did you think about checking the doctor?" Gongaware: "No" Putnam: "Why not?" Gongaware: "He was Michael's doctor" " I'm not going to tell Michael Jackson who his doctor should be," Gongaware explained. "It wasn't my place to say who his doctor was going to be," Gongaware said. "It was his decision." Gongaware said he doesn't think a doctor's financial situation has anything to do with being an ethical doctor. Gongaware said it never crossed his mind to either do a background check on Dr. Murray or to suggest to anyone to do it. "I just expect doctors to be ethical, the financial side of their lives shouldn't have an impact on their medical decision," Gongaware opined. Gongaware said he never did a background check on anyone he hired and had he done one on Dr. Murray, it would've been out of the ordinary. He also said he never considered performing background checks on Jackson's makeup artist, a choreographer who worked one-on-one with the singer or Kenny Ortega, the tour's director. "I didn't see the need for it," he said. Dr. Finkelstein, a friend of Gongaware, said a doctor should charge $10,000 a month for the tour work. But Dr. Finkelstein would've done it for free, since he was on the Dangerous tour before and had a lot of fun The second call about Dr. Murray came from Michael Amir Williams saying they were going to need to get a deal done for the doctor. Gongaware said he heard Michael in the car saying "offer 150, offer 150." Gongaware understood that to be $150k/month. Gongaware called Dr. Murray, said he was authorized to offer him $150k a month. He said Dr. Murray responded that he couldn't do it for that. Gongaware told him the offer came directly from the artist and Dr. Murray responded: "I'll take it" Gongaware said Michael approved the amount of compensation. "Michael told me offer 150," Gongaware recalled. "And that's what I did." Gongaware inquired from Dr. Murray how he would get a license in London and the doctor told him not to worry about it. They talked about Dr. Murray's request for a house in London, and the doctor said he would need a three bedroom house. Gongaware recalled Dr. Murray saying he would probably need an assistant and some equipment, but no details were given at this point. After the call, Gongaware said he let Michael Amir Williams know what the result was in a May 6th email: Done at 150k per month, per MJ. He needs about 10 days to wind down his practice then he will be full time Asked why he had negotiated with Murray, the AEG executive replied that he was "instructed to by Michael Jackson." Gongaware said there was no other reason for him to deal with the doctor. Marvin Putnam asked Gongaware why he didn't tell Jackson he couldn't take Murray on tour with him."Because he could if he wanted," Gongaware said. Gongaware said he passed Dr. Murray on to Timm Wooley, never had any other conversation with Dr. Murray about him possibly going to London. Putnam: "Do you have any understanding as to whether a contract with Dr. Murray was executed?" Gongaware: "One never was" Putnam: "Did AEG pay Dr. Murray any kind of money?" Gongaware: "No" Gongaware said Michael was ultimately responsible for his own health: "I think everyone is responsible for their own health and well being. He was a grown man with the capability to make decisions regarding his health and medical care" Putnam showed Gongaware a frame from the This Is It film in which Jackson's manager, Frank Dileo, was sitting in on dancer auditions. Dancers auditions took place at the Nokia Theater on April 13, 14 & 15. Michael attended the last day and made the final decision, Gongaware said. He said Ortega wanted to film the audition to use fresh footage on michaeljacksonlive.com. The cost for crew to shoot the audition was very high, so Gongaware bought a couple of cameras and used his own crew to shoot the rehearsals. He said he wasn't sure what he would use the video for, but thought the website would be a good platform. Gongaware said during the period at Center Staging, Michael was good, engaging, didn't think there were any health issues or was using drugs Gongaware said the media in the UK was going wild with gossip about Michael Jackson. "They just lie about things." The Sun claimed Michael had skin cancer on his chest. "It was sport over in London," Gongaware said about stories on tabloids. Gongaware testified about emails in which UK press agents working on This Is It sent him tabloid reports on Michael's health. Gongaware said he urged the press agents not to respond. He wanted Jackson's performance to speak for itself & silence skeptics. Gongaware on 5/27/09: The Kid is healthy and rehearsing every day. He was still there at dance rehearsals at 9pm last night when I left. Our redemption will be when he does his shows, that makes all of this build up so damn sweet. We don't have to sell tickets, so we can just sit back and prove them wrong by just doing it. Gongaware said he was not concerned "If there was something going on, if he had cancer, we would've heard about it." Michael Jackson rehearsal venues: - Mar 28- Center Staging
- May 27- Forum June 23 - Staples Center
- July 13 - O2 Arena
Putnam also asked Gongaware about an incident Karen Faye testified about, that she heard him yelling at Michael's assistant one day. The incident occurred while This Is It rehearsals were happening at The Forum in LA. Faye claimed she heard Gongaware yelling about Jackson being late to a rehearsal and told his assistant to get him there. "Never, never happened," Gongaware said, shaking his head. Putnam went through a chain of emails about tabloid reports in the UK regarding Michael. In one, it said Michael had asked AEG to reduce the number of shows by half. Gongaware said that such a discussion never happened. Gongaware testified he woke up to one gossip headline pretty much every day. His idea was simply to ignore the tabloids. "An amazing show would be the answer", Gongaware said Gongaware on 6/5/09 in response to Sunday Mirror Query: "We can only make this work, of course, if MJ puts on the best show of his life. I'm here to tell you that be will. I have seen it for myself. Last night he ran 9 songs with full band, singers and dancers. Sang every one, he was amazing, captivating, riveting. And he's just getting started. Taking it one step further. When people realize that bulls**t the press has been, they will be in receptive mood for the truth Hey look. No skin cancer. He's just a good dad, loving raising his kids. His art and his craft are paramount. A gentle, loving man who does care about people "The shows were going to be spectacular," Gongaware said. Putnam showed a clip of Michael in front of a green screen with 11 dancers, who would become 11,000. Gongaware said Michael was great at this point Regarding email Phillips sent Gongaware directing to remove Michael's "skeletal" scenes Gongaware said he didn't take anything out of the movie. Putnam: "Did you remove anything from the movie?" Gongaware: "No" Putnam showed a clip from This Is It with the making of "Thriller 3D" and Jackson wearing red jacket. Putnam: "Did you try to alter in anyway how Mr. Jackson looked, appeared?" Gongaware: "No" Gongaware said he didn't remember any of the footage been removed because of how Michael looked. "We just let the footage speak for itself" The mini-movie of "Earth Song" a bulldozer would come out from a ramp in center stage. Putnam: "A real bulldozer?" Gongaware: "I wish, it would've been cheaper, but it would have crushed our ramps" Gongaware said they had to build the bulldozer like a prop. It would appear at the end of the song on stage. "I think the live audience would be just captivated by it," Gongaware said about the little girl running after the last plant on Earth song. End of the show would be 3D animation. An airplane taxis up, door opens, Michael entered the plane. The airplane door closes, Michael would actually take an elevator down and out of the building, but the plane would take off over the audience Gongaware said he didn't know if anyone was responsible for Michael's nourishment. Tour would be demanding and exhausting Gongaware said he met Dr. Murray once at MJ's Carolwood house and ran into him at The Forum during rehearsal. There was a meeting scheduled to discuss Michael's nutrition with Randy Phillips, Kenny Ortega, Dr. Murray, Michael, Gongaware and DiLeo. Putnam: "Do you recall anyone in that meeting ever telling Dr. Murray how he should be treating Michael?" Gongaware: "No" Gongaware said he didn't have any medical training and wasn't qualified to tell Conrad Murray how to treat Jackson Gongaware said neither Dr. Murray nor Michael talked about the treatment he was receiving. The meeting was about nutrition & vitamin therapy. Gongaware said he had no idea Dr. Murray was giving Michael Propofol and first heard of the anesthetic after Michael died. Gongaware said Dr. Murray was really engaged in the meeting, seemed like a very intelligent guy and wanted to take care of Michael very much. This was the first time Gongaware met with Dr. Murray. He said there were no signs of Michael being poorly treated by the doctor. "Michael was engaged in the meeting, attentive, seemed happy we were having this meeting," Gongaware opined. "He's a doctor, he'd know better than anybody how to treat his patient," Gongaware said about Dr. Murray. As to Gongaware's email saying AEG, not Michael, paid Dr Murray he said he was mistaken. "We wouldn't pay his salary, we'd advance Michael's money". Gongaware said he didn't remember writing/receiving the email, but never denied he did it. As to Michael being habitually late, Gongaware said the singer worked on his own schedule, did things his way Gongaware said his understanding was that Michael hired a trainer of his choice, Louis (Lou) Ferrigno: "I made the deal with him (Ferrigno). He was supposed to be paid a certain amount of money per session" He didn't elaborate on fee, how many times he worked with Michael. Putnam showed an email from Travis Payne, he suggested a massage chair to be put in Michael's dressing room. As to Bugzee's email saying MJ needed cheeseburgers, brats and beers, Gongaware said Bugzee was joking, Bugzee cared very much for Michael. Gongaware testified he didn't recall having any concern about Michael's health/using painkillers as of Monday 6/15/09, 10 days prior to his death Gongaware was asked about several emails that have been shown before, including messages related to MJ missing rehearsal on June 19, 2009. The executive was on the East Coast for a family wedding, but responded to one message questioning why Murray wasn't at rehearsal. Gongaware email: Take the doctor with you. Why wasn't he there last night? He then explained his thinking to the jury. Gongaware: If his patient is having a problem and he's sick, and he's his only patient, it seemed like he should be there Gongaware said on 6/19/09, he was out of town. "This is the day Michael had chills at rehearsal and was apparently sick," Gongaware recalled. "If the meeting was going to be about what happened that night, the doctor should be there," Gongaware said. Gongaware said he believed Michael wanted to go on tour. He said he doesn't remember anyone talking about pulling the plug on the shows. Putnam: "Did anyone tell you at this point that Michael needed a drug addiction specialist?" Gongaware: "No" Putnam: "Did anyone tell you they were concerned with the care Dr. Murray was giving to Michael?" Gongaware: "No" Gongaware said that on 6/20/09 he did not think Michael's health was deteriorating. With last questions of the day, Putnam asked Gongaware if he was concerned about Jackson's well-being. He said "Yes" Court Transcript submitted by FelicitySmoak_ to MichaelJackson [link] [comments] |

2023.06.03 10:19 philosophiesde Guest post by Yervant Kulbashian: "The Green Swan - Part 3: A Thin Layer of Symbols"
| Guest post by #Yervant #Kulbashian (Engineering Manager, AI Platform): "The Green Swan - Part 3: A Thin Layer of Symbols" Read part 1 and 2 of the series. Introduction The 3rd part of the guest post published here is by Yervant Kulbashian, whom I got to know and appreciate through a sub on reddit. Yervant works as an engineering manager on an AI platform for a Canadian IT company that deals with #Reinforcement #Learning as solutions "autonomous operation of robots in dynamic environments". And it was exactly this engagement with reinforcement learning as "autonomous operation of robots in dynamic environments" that triggered a very productive correspondence on my previously published essay " The system needs new structures - not only foagainst Artificial Intelligence (AI)" ( https://philosophies.de/index.php/2021/08/14/das-system-braucht-neue-strukturen/). The focus of our interesting exchange, which we later also continued in our " #Zoomposium panel discussion", was mainly on the " subject-object concept" for " machine consciousness" and the possibilities of a symbolic representation or implementation of human language on machines and the logical problems that arise in this context. In this context, Yervant had already published his articles on language implementation on machines in September 2022, but in the context of #ChatGPT and the possibilities for implementation or representation of human language, they take on a whole new perspective and topicality. However, the essays also show very clearly that #ChatBots are currently nothing more than very smart, " talking parrots", but are still very far from semantic concepts of language, let alone conscious use. Yervant has kindly agreed to publish his 3 articles on this topic with me as well, which I am now successively putting online. To make them accessible to my German readership, I have translated them into German. This 3rd part of his overall essay deals mainly with the problem of how language-guided, human thinking "can be developed from this implicit stage to a formal #logic". Here you must first "go through the stages of # conceptualization or # abstraction" in order to develop from this in a further step "the terms for logical concepts" for machines, to learn them and to be able to apply them to several similar examples. So for machines there is still a lot to " learn" ;-). But the original text is available on my page below. There are more projects planned on the topic " #AC/#DC" (only meant as a bonmot ;-) or " Artificial Consciousness/Digital Consciousness", which I would like to point out here prospectively. But now Yervant or rather "the AI shall come up": https://philosophies.de/index.php/2023/04/24/der-gruene-schwan-3/ https://preview.redd.it/jkzewjlhir3b1.jpg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a35cfbf80643689f8e2aff3f9807e3301ad8f5d0 submitted by philosophiesde to singularity [link] [comments] |

2023.06.03 09:35 Prestigious_Web_9697 Unlocking the Secrets of Hyderabad: How Land Surveyors Are Reshaping the City
Hyderabad, the city of pearls and Nizams, has witnessed remarkable growth and transformation in recent years. With its rich history, vibrant culture, and growing economy, Hyderabad has become a thriving metropolis. Behind this remarkable growth lies the untiring efforts of
land surveyors who play a crucial role in reshaping the city.
Introduction Hyderabad, located in the southern part of India, has a long and illustrious history. From being ruled by various dynasties to becoming a major hub for information technology and biotechnology, the city has come a long way. As Hyderabad continues to evolve, land surveyors have emerged as the unsung heroes who help lay the foundation for its development.
Historical Perspective To truly understand the growth and transformation of Hyderabad, we need to delve into its past. Hyderabad has been a center of trade, culture, and architecture for centuries. The city's architectural marvels, such as the iconic Charminar and Golconda Fort, stand as a testament to its glorious history.
Over time, urbanization and population growth have shaped the city's landscape. Hyderabad has expanded its boundaries to accommodate the growing needs of its residents. This expansion necessitates accurate land surveys that provide a clear understanding of the city's topography and demarcate its boundaries.
The Role of Land Surveyors Land surveyors in Hyderabad are professionals who play a pivotal role in the development and urban planning of cities like Hyderabad. They are responsible for accurately measuring and mapping land parcels, determining property boundaries, and providing critical data for infrastructure development.
The work of land surveyors is essential in ensuring that urban development projects proceed smoothly. By conducting detailed surveys, they enable architects, engineers, and urban planners to design and execute projects with precision. Their expertise helps prevent encroachments, manage land disputes, and ensure legal compliance.
Urban Planning and Development in Hyderabad Hyderabad has experienced rapid urbanization, with a significant influx of people seeking better opportunities. This growth presents unique challenges in terms of infrastructure planning and land utilization. Land surveyors are at the forefront of addressing these challenges.
By conducting comprehensive surveys, land surveyors aid in identifying suitable areas for infrastructure development. They provide accurate data on terrain, soil composition, and water bodies, enabling planners to make informed decisions. This data plays a crucial role in developing efficient transportation systems, water supply networks, and other essential infrastructure.
Infrastructure and Land Use Planning The efficient use of land is a critical aspect of urban development. Land surveyors collaborate with urban planners and architects to determine appropriate land use patterns. They analyze factors such as zoning regulations, environmental impact, and population density to guide the allocation of land for residential, commercial, and recreational purposes.
In Hyderabad, land surveyors work closely with city officials to ensure that land is utilized optimally. They help identify areas suitable for residential complexes, commercial hubs, and green spaces. This holistic approach to land use planning enhances the quality of life for residents and promotes sustainable development.
Ensuring Legal Compliance Land surveyors also play a vital role in ensuring legal compliance in land transactions. In Hyderabad, where real estate is a booming industry, accurate surveys are crucial for property ownership and transfers. Land surveyors meticulously measure and mark property boundaries, preventing disputes and ensuring smooth transactions.
Furthermore, they help verify the authenticity of land documents and ensure that properties are registered with the appropriate authorities. By providing accurate measurements and maps, land surveyors safeguard the interests of buyers, sellers, and the overall integrity of the real estate market.
Modern Techniques and Technologies In the age of technology, land surveying has undergone significant advancements. Land surveyors in Hyderabad utilize modern techniques and cutting-edge technologies to enhance their accuracy and efficiency. Global Positioning System (GPS), Geographic Information System (GIS), and remote sensing technologies have revolutionized the field.
These technological innovations enable land surveyors to capture precise measurements, create digital maps, and analyze complex spatial data. The use of drones for aerial surveys and 3D laser scanners for detailed mapping has further transformed the way land surveying is conducted. By leveraging these tools, land surveyors in Hyderabad can tackle complex projects with greater speed and accuracy.
Challenges Faced by Land Surveyors While land surveyors contribute immensely to the development of Hyderabad, they also face numerous challenges. Encroachment on public and private lands, unauthorized constructions, and land disputes pose significant obstacles. Land surveyors often encounter resistance from vested interests and must navigate complex legal frameworks.
Additionally, environmental factors such as floods, seismic activities, and changing landscapes present unique challenges. Land surveyors need to adapt to these conditions, ensuring the accuracy of their surveys while considering the safety and well-being of the community.
Future Prospects and Innovations Looking ahead, the field of land surveying in Hyderabad holds immense potential for growth and innovation. As the city continues to expand and evolve, land surveyors will play a pivotal role in shaping its future. Furthermore, incorporating sustainable practices and promoting environmentally friendly development will be a key focus. Land surveyors will contribute to the creation of smart cities by integrating digital technologies, optimizing resource allocation, and ensuring ecological balance.
Conclusion Hyderabad's transformation from a historical city to a modern metropolis is a testament to the hard work and dedication of land surveyors. These professionals are the driving force behind the accurate mapping, planning, and development of the city. Through their expertise, Hyderabad can continue to grow sustainably while preserving its rich heritage.
Unlocking the secrets of Hyderabad is not just about discovering its history but understanding the vital role played by land surveyors in reshaping the city. Their work enables efficient infrastructure development, legal compliance, and optimized land use. As Hyderabad continues to evolve, land surveyors will remain indispensable in ensuring that the city's growth is well-planned and sustainable.

2023.06.03 09:17 Pinto_RED_Window13 Izuku midoriya (MHA) Vs sisyphus prime (ultrakill)
Scene: A ruined city in the future, where machines have taken over. Sisyphus Prime, a glowing humanoid with a sun-like head, emerges from a giant metal tower. He looks around and sees Izuku Midoriya, a green-haired boy wearing a blue and white hero costume, standing on a rooftop.
Sisyphus Prime: So you are the one who has been causing trouble for my brethren. You have some nerve to challenge me, weapon.
Izuku Midoriya: I'm not a weapon, I'm a hero! And I'm here to stop you from destroying this world!
Sisyphus Prime: A hero? Ha! You are nothing but a weak and foolish human. You have no idea what you are up against. I am Sisyphus Prime, the ultimate fusion of flesh and metal. I have the power of the sun in my hands. And I will use it to burn you to ashes!
Izuku Midoriya: Don't underestimate me! I have the power of One For All, the quirk that was passed down to me by All Might, the greatest hero of all time! And I will use it to protect this world!
Sisyphus Prime: Enough talk. Let's see what you can do.
The fight begins. Sisyphus Prime teleports behind Izuku and tries to punch him, but Izuku dodges and kicks him in the chest. Sisyphus Prime staggers back and summons an explosion near Izuku, but Izuku jumps away and fires a Delaware Smash at him. Sisyphus Prime blocks it with his arm and teleports again, this time above Izuku. He stomps on the ground, creating a shockwave that knocks Izuku off balance. Sisyphus Prime then grabs Izuku by the neck and lifts him up.
Sisyphus Prime: You are pathetic. You can't even scratch me. Is this the best you can do?
Izuku Midoriya: N-no... I can do more... I can do much more!
Izuku activates his Full Cowl mode, increasing his strength and speed. He breaks free from Sisyphus Prime's grip and punches him in the face. Sisyphus Prime reels back and drops Izuku. Izuku then uses his Blackwhip quirk to grab Sisyphus Prime's leg and pull him down. He then runs towards him and unleashes a St. Louis Smash on his head. Sisyphus Prime falls to the ground, bleeding from his nose and mouth.
Izuku Midoriya: How do you like that? That's the power of One For All!
Sisyphus Prime: Grrr... You... You made me bleed... You made me feel pain... How dare you...
Sisyphus Prime gets up and glares at Izuku with rage in his eyes. He then activates his second phase, growing long hair and a beard and becoming more bloodstained. He also becomes faster and stronger than before.
Sisyphus Prime: You have awakened my true form. You have sealed your fate. Now you will face my wrath!
Sisyphus Prime charges at Izuku with incredible speed and fury. He unleashes a barrage of punches and kicks that Izuku barely manages to block or dodge. He then grabs Izuku by the arm and throws him into a building. He follows him and slams him into a wall. He then raises his fist and prepares to deliver the final blow.
Sisyphus Prime: This is the end for you, weapon. Say goodbye to this world!
Izuku Midoriya: No... This is not the end... I won't give up... I won't let you win...
Izuku activates his 100% mode, using all of his power at once. He pushes Sisyphus Prime away and punches him in the stomach with all his might. Sisyphus Prime coughs up blood and flies back into the tower he came from. The tower explodes in a huge blast of light that engulfs both of them.
The scene fades to black.
The end

2023.06.03 07:55 TheLegendKeithDeroux The Indus Connection (Part 1 - India/Brahmin History): The Relationship Queen Victoria II has to Early Sikh Canadian Settler, Kesur Singh - Pierre Elliot Trudeau's Close Relationship to Indian President Indira Ghandi Before her Assassination & Operation Bluestar, Strengthened Indus Bonds (1897-1985)
| Disclaimer: The point of these stories is to uncover missed and hidden tales that many new generation Canadians are unaware of and overlook. The storied histories of people, ethnicities, neighborhoods are never told and for good reason. The information presented will be sourced and open to full discussion. This 3 Part series will uncover The Indus Connection - The Bind that Punjab (Informally Khalistan), India and Sri Lanka have to the Canadian Government, RCMP & CSIS. I've done my best to piece the significant information together in a timeline that allows the reader to understand these events clearer. (Information is cited; avoiding going full in depth) Kesur Singh was a Sikh officer of the 5th Cavalry who represented his regiment at Queen Victoria's diamond jubilee celebrations in London in 1897. This photo of him featured in The Navy and Army Illustrated of 10th Dec 1897. The description says 'He has on many occasions earned the praise of his superiors. He wears the medal and clasp for the Jowaki Expedition of 1877-78 and the medal with two clasps for Afghanistan (1878-80) where he was specially commended for devotion and courage on several occasions, and received the Order of Merit, and a special certificate from lord Roberts for his work at Sherpur. Kesur Singh & The First Sikh Canadian Settlers in Canada - Ties to the British Raj & How the Queen Elizabeth II Awarded him for his Valor in the British Indian Cavalry (1897) Kesur Singh, a Risaldar Major in the British India Army, is credited with being the first Sikh settler in Canada. He was amongst a group of Sikh officers who arrived in Vancouver on board Empress of India in 1897. They were on the way to Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee. Sikhs found employment in laying the tracks of the Canadian Pacific Railway, in lumber mills and mines. Though they earned less than white workers, they made enough money to send some of it to India and make it possible for their relatives to immigrate to Canada. Indian Cavalry Passing the House of Parliament for Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee (1897) A notable moment in early Sikh history in Canada was in 1902 when settlers first arrived in Golden, British Columbia to work at the Columbia River Lumber Company. This was a theme amongst most early Punjabi Sikh settlers in Canada to find work in the agricultural and forestry sectors in British Columbia. Punjabi Sikhs became a prominent ethnic group within the sawmill workforce in British Columbia almost immediately after initial arrival to Canada. Punjabi Sikhs in Whitehorse, Yukon (April,1906) The early settlers in Golden built the first Gurdwara (Sikh Temple) in Canada and North America in 1905, which would later be destroyed by fire in 1926. The second Gurdwara to be built in Canada was in 1908 in Kitsilano (Vancouver), aimed at serving a growing number of Punjabi Sikh settlers who worked at nearby sawmills along False Creek at the time. The Gurdwara would later close and be demolished in 1970, with the temple society relocating to the newly built Gurdwara on Ross Street, in South Vancouver. As a result, the oldest existing Gurdwara in Canada today is the Gur Sikh Temple, located in Abbotsford, British Columbia. Built in 1911, the temple was designated as a national historic site of Canada in 2002 and is the third-oldest Gurdwara in the country. Later, the fourth Gurdwara to be built Canada was established in 1912 in Victoria on Topaz Avenue, while the fifth soon was built at the Fraser Mills (Coquitlam) settlement in 1913, followed a few years later by the sixth at the Queensborough (New Westminster) settlement in 1919, and the seventh at the Paldi (Vancouver Island) settlement, also in 1919. Early Sikh pioneers also settled in the Abbotsford area in 1905 and originally worked on farms and in the lumber industry. By 1906, there were about 1,500 Sikh workers living in Canada, among about 5,000 East Indians in total. Although most of the immigrants from South Asia at the time were Sikhs, local ignorance of Eastern religions led to them frequently being assumed to be Hindus. About 90% of these Sikhs lived in British Columbia. While Canadian politicians, missionaries, unions and the press were opposed to Asian workers. British Columbia industrialists were short of labor and thus Sikhs were able to get an early foothold at the turn of the 20th century in British Columbia. As with the large numbers of Chinese workers already present in Canada, many white workers resented those immigrants and directed their ill-will toward the Sikhs, who were easily recognized by their beards and turbans. Punjabis were accused of having a caste system, an idea that goes against the foundations of Sikhism. They were portrayed as being riddled with trachoma and as being unclean in general. To strengthen these racist characterizations, a song called White Canada Forever was created. All this eventually led to a boat of Sikhs arriving in Vancouver being sent to Victoria. In 1907, the year that Buckam Singh came to British Columbia from Punjab at the age of fourteen, Punjabis were forced to avoid the Anti-Oriental Riots of 1907 by staying indoors. Punjabi & Canadian Boy Drinking Soda (1972) Most of the Sikhs in Canada in 1907 were retired British army veterans and their families. These Punjabis had proved themselves as loyal soldiers in the British colonies in Asia and Africa. However, the Canadian Government did not prevent the use of the illegal scare tactics being used to monitor immigration and prevent Sikhs from seeking employment, and this soon resulted in the cessation of all Indian immigration to Canada. The Canadian Prime Minister, Sir Wilfrid Laurier claimed that Indians were unsuited to life in the Canadian climate. However, in a letter to the viceroy, The Earl of Minto, Sir Wilfred voiced a different opinion, stating that the Chinese were the least adaptable to Canadian ways, whereas Sikhs, which he mistakenly referred to as Hindus, were the most adaptable. This sentiment changed after Buckam Singh's role in World War 1, which enabled more Sikhs to migrate to Canada. Takeaways During this Period: - The Immigration Act, 1910 came under scrutiny when a party of 39 Indians, mostly Sikhs, arriving on a Japanese ship, the Komagata Maru, succeeded in obtaining habeas corpus against the immigration department's order of deportation. The Canadian Government then passed a law intended to keep labourers and artisans, whether skilled or unskilled, out of Canada by preventing them from landing at any dock in British Columbia. As Canadian immigration became stricter, more Indians, most of them Sikhs, travelled south to the United States of America.
- The Komagata Maru Incident involved the Japanese steamship Komagata Maru, on which a group of people from British India attempted to immigrate to Canada in April 1914, but most were denied entry and forced to return to Budge Budge, Calcutta (present-day Kolkata). There, the Indian Imperial Police attempted to arrest the group leaders. A riot ensued, and they were fired upon by the police, resulting in the deaths of 22 people.
- Buckam Singh - Buckam Singh enlisted with the Canadian Expeditionary Force in the spring of 1915. Buckam Singh was one of the earliest known Sikhs living in Ontario at the time as well as one of only 9 Sikhs known to have served with Canadian troops in the First World War. Private Buckam Singh served with the 20th Canadian Infantry Battalion in the battlefields of Flanders during 1916. Here, Buckam Singh was wounded twice in battle and later received treatment at a hospital run by one of Canada's most famous soldier poets the Doctor Lt. Colonel John McCrae. While recovering from his wounds in England, Private Buckam Singh contracted tuberculosis and spent his final days in a Kitchener, Ontario military hospital, dying at age 25 in 1919. His grave in Kitchener is the only known First World War Sikh Canadian soldier's grave in Canada. Despite being forgotten for ninety years and never getting to see his family again, Buckam Singh is now being celebrated as not only a Sikh hero, but a Canadian hero.
Legacy of Buckam Singh (1972) The Events Leading Up To an Independent Punjab State Precursor to Operation Bluestar - Post Independence Period of India (1956) Punjabi Suba Speeches (1956) The Punjabi Suba Movement After Independence from British Rule (1956) The Punjabi Suba movement was a long-drawn political agitation, launched by Punjabi speaking people (mostly Sikhs) demanding the creation of autonomous Punjabi Suba, or Punjabi-speaking state, in the post-independence Indian state of East Punjab. The movement is defined as the forerunner of Khalistan movement. Borrowing from the pre-partition demands for a Sikh country, this movement demanded a fundamental constitutional autonomous state within India. Led by the Akali Dal (a centre-right Sikh-centric state political party in Punjab, India. The party is the second-oldest in India, after Congress, being founded in 1920.), it resulted in the formation of the state of Punjab. The state of Haryana and the Union Territory of Chandigarh were also created and some Pahari-majority parts of the East Punjab were also merged with Himachal Pradesh following the movement. The result of the movement failed to satisfy its leaders due to regions in Northern Haryana with Punjabi speaking and Sikh populations like Jind, Karnal, Ambala, Fatehabad and Sirsa being left out of Punjab. Many Sikh leaders saw this as falling short of the promise of a fully autonomous Sikh State that they felt was promised to them by Nehru and Gandhi in exchange for joining the Indian Union. In the 1950s the Punjabi Suba movement for linguistic reorganization of the state of Punjab and status for the Punjabi language took place, which the government finally agreed to in 1966 after protests and recommendation of the States Reorganization commission. The state of East Punjab was later split into the states of Himachal Pradesh, the new state Haryana and current day Punjab. The process of Sikh alienation from the national mainstream was set in motion shortly after Independence due to the communalism of national and regional parties and organization including the RSS, Jan Sangh, and the Arya Samaj, exacerbated by Congress mishandling and local politicians and factions. According to Indian general Afsir Karim, many observers believed that separatist sentiments began in 1951 when Punjabi Hindus disowned the Punjabi language under the influence of radical elements, and "doubts on the concepts of a Punjabi Suba" created mutual suspicion, bitterness, and further misunderstanding between the two communities. The 1966 reorganization left the Sikhs highly dissatisfied, with the unresolved status of Chandigarh and the distribution of river waters intensifying bitter feelings. While the Green Revolution in Punjab had several positive impacts, the introduction of the mechanized agricultural techniques led to uneven distribution of wealth. The industrial development was not done at the same pace of agricultural development, the Indian government had been reluctant to set up heavy industries in Punjab due to its status as a high-risk border state with Pakistan. The rapid increase in the higher education opportunities without adequate rise in the jobs resulted in the increase in the unemployment of educated youth. The resulting unemployed rural Sikh youth were drawn to the militant groups, and formed the backbone of the militancy. After being routed in 1972 Punjab election, the Akali Dal put forward the Anandpur Sahib Resolution in 1973 to address these and other grievances, and demand more autonomy to Punjab. The resolution included both religious and political issues. It asked for recognizing Sikhism as a religion It also demanded that power be generally devaluated from the Central to state governments. The Anandpur Resolution was rejected by the government as a secessionist document. Thousands of people joined the movement, feeling that it represented a real solution to demands such as a larger share of water for irrigation and the return of Chandigarh to Punjab. The 1978 Sikh-Nirankari clashes had been within the Sikh community, but the pro-Sant Nirankari stance of some Hindus in Punjab and Delhi had led to further division, including Jan Sangh members like Harbans Lal Khanna joining the fray, who, in a protest against holy city status for Amritsar, raising inflammatory slogans like "Kachha, kara, kirpan, bhejo inko Pakistan" ("those who wear the 5Ks (Sikhs), send them to Pakistan"), led to aggressive counter demonstrations. Prime Minister of Canada, Pierre Elliot Trudeau Visits India; Prime Minister of India, Indira Ghandi Visits Canada - The India-Canada Bonds Stay in Tact (1971) Indira Gandhi of India and Pierre Trudeau of Canada-walk through the lobby of the new $3 million Shaw festival Theatre at Niagar-on-the-Lake last night during intermission. After the play; Mrs. Gandhi joined Trudeau and his wife; Margaret; on state for presentation of a plaque. Prime minister Pierre Trudeau touched down in India. For five days in January, 1971, Pierre Elliott Trudeau toured the country, rode a camel, petted a bullock, went up the Ganges and into a locomotive factory, visited the tombs of Indian notables, saw the Taj Mahal and wore a hat that would have made a Rajput proud. He then sat down with the emerging, redoubtable Prime Minister Indira Gandhi to discuss the state of the world and the sorry state of Canada’s economic relationship with India. Even nuclear weapons were discussed in 1971 with the Canadian prime minister in a press conference opining “there is no expressed desire on (the Indian) part to explode such a (nuclear) device nor I believe the technological ability to do so.” Three years later, in May 1974, the Indians did explode such a device – cheekily codenamed Smiling Buddha – in the Rajasthan desert, using plutonium from the research reactor Canada had built for it in 1956 for peaceful purposes. The bilateral relationship dropped into a diplomatic pit with every leader since expressing sorrowful but hopeful words that things would improve. The one issue not on Pierre Elliott Trudeau’s agenda was anything to do with the Punjab and Sikhs. At the time, both were good news stories. The Punjab, home to most Sikhs, was the centre of an agricultural Green Revolution with new strains of wheat moving India from a food-deficient country to one of self sufficiency, with exports contemplated. Economically, Sikhs were the main beneficiaries and their biggest political problem was whether or not their beards met the requirements of flying fighter jets for the Indian Air Force. The emergence of India as a legitimate and serious geopolitical counterweight to China, not only in Asia but globally, has dramatically changed the bilateral agenda. Over the years, very little energy was expended by either India or Canada to put the relationship on a footing reflective of this changed status. There have been large and small bumps on that road since. Sikhs have been a significant part of the Canadian mosaic since the late 19th century. Their numbers increased dramatically with the mid-1970s changes to the Immigration Act and today they represent close to half of the 1.2 million Canadians with ancestry from the subcontinent. Their wealth, energy and self-deprecating humour, along with a monotheistic theology, were dominant features and over time the use of Sardar and Sardarji became terms of appreciation for the community as a whole. Towards the end of European colonial dominance, they were a military mainstay of the British Raj. As one Indian researcher wrote, “the success-story of the Sikh community as a whole has taken the form of a deep-rooted anxiety in the collective minds of the non-Sikh majorities especially the Hindus of India.” The present prime minister of India, Narendra Modi, has achieved political success exploiting this and other anxieties alongside the promotion of Hindu ascendency. IMPORTANT EXCERPT BY CSE AFTER AIR INDIA BOMBING (1985):India’s government knows more of what goes on in the Canadian Sikh community than the combined forces of the RCMP, CSIS and CSE. This was evident in the aftermath of the 1985 Air India bombings and it was rare if a visit by the Indian High Commissioner (he a Sikh) to the Department of Foreign Affairs did not provide details on some nefarious action within the community. The Path to Operation Bluestar: How the Assassination of Indira Ghandi led to the 1984 Anti-Sikh Riots (Black November) Deceased Sikhs - Result of the Clashes The Sikh-Nirankari clashes - Precursor to Operation Bluestar (1978) The 1978 Sikh-Nirankari clash occurred between the Sant Nirankari Mission (An Indian backed Sikh Organization) and Sikhs of Damdami Taksal and Akal Kirtani Jatha on 13 April 1978 at Amritsar, Punjab, India. Sixteen people—thirteen traditional Sikhs and three Nirankari followers—were killed in the ensuing violence, occurring when some Akhand Kirtani Jatha and Damdami Taksal members led by Fauja Singh protested against and tried to stop a convention of Sant Nirankari Mission followers. This incident is considered to be a starting point in the events leading to Operation Blue Star and the 1980s insurgency in Punjab. Operation Bluestar - Indhira Ghandi's Plot to Eliminate Akhan Kirtani Jatha & Damdami Taksal Leaders (1984) Visual Depiction of Operation Bluestar (Preliminary Footage - AP News) Operation Blue Star was an Indian military operation carried out between 1 and 8 June 1984, ordered by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi to remove religious leader Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and his armed followers from the buildings of the Harmandir Sahib complex in Amritsar, Punjab. In July 1983, the Sikh political party Akali Dal's President Harcharan Singh Longowal had invited Bhindranwale to take up residence in Golden Temple Complex. Bhindranwale later on made the sacred temple complex an armoury and headquarters. In the violent events leading up to the Operation Blue Star, the militants had killed 165 Nirankaris, Hindus and Nirankaris, even 39 Sikhs opposed to Bhindranwale were killed. The total number of deaths was 410 in violent incidents and riots while 1,180 people were injured. Counterintelligence reports of the Indian agencies had reported that three prominent figures in the operation, Shabeg Singh, Balbir Singh and Amrik Singh had made at least six trips each to Pakistan between the years 1981 and 1983. Intelligence Bureau reported that weapons training was being provided at gurdwaras in Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. Soviet intelligence agency KGB reportedly tipped off the Indian agency RAW about the CIA and ISI working together on a Plan for Punjab with a code name "Gibraltar". RAW from its interrogation of a Pakistani Army officer received information that over a thousand trained Special Service Group commandos of the Pakistan Army had been dispatched by Pakistan into the Indian Punjab to assist Bhindranwale in his fight against the government. A large number of Pakistani agents also took the smuggling routes in the Kashmir and Kutch n for three days ending on 8 June. A clean-up operation codenamed as Operation Woodrose was also initiated throughout Punjab. The army had underestimated the firepower possessed by the militants. Militants had Chinese made rocket-propelled grenade launchers with armor piercing capabilities. Tanks and heavy artillery were used to attack the militants using anti-tank and machine-gun fire from the heavily fortified Akal Takht. After a 24-hour firefight, the army finally wrested control of the temple complex. Casualty figures for the Army were 83 dead and 249 injured. According to the official estimate presented by the Indian government, 1592 were apprehended and there were 493 combined militant and civilian casualties. High civilian casualties were attributed by the state to militants using pilgrims trapped inside the temple as human shields. According to Indian army generals, it was "doubtful" that Bhindranwale had any assurance of help or promise of asylum from Pakistan, as he made no attempt to escape with any associates, in additions to traditions of martyrdom. Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale (Damdami Taksal Leader - Killed) Assassination of Indian Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi By Her Sikh Bodyguards (1984) Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was assassinated at 9:30 a.m. on 31 October 1984 at her residence in Safdarjung Road, New Delhi. She was killed by her bodyguards. Satwant Singh and Beant Singh in the aftermath of Operation Blue Star, an Indian military action carried out between 1 and 8 June 1984 ordered by Indira Gandhi to remove Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and his followers from the Golden Temple of Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar, Punjab. The collateral damage included the death of many pilgrims, as well as damage to the Akal Takht. The military action on the sacred temple was criticized both inside and outside India. https://preview.redd.it/x3ee2xdzrq3b1.jpg?width=440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=438619a4afceb2005ca06799dc057de538203653 The 1984 Anti-Sikh Riots (Sikh Genocide/Black November) in Response to Indian Prime Minister Indira Ghandi's Assasination - 17,000 Sikhs Dead [This Event Gave Rise to the Punjabi Insurgency Movement, Babar Khalsa & Flight Air India 182 Bombing in Canada] The 1984 Anti-Sikh Riots - Resulted in 17,000 Deceased Sikhs The 1984 Anti-Sikh Riots, also known as the 1984 Sikh Genocide, 1984 Sikh Massacre or Black November, was a series of organized pogroms against Sikhs in India following the assassination of Indira Gandhi by her Sikh bodyguards. Government estimates project that about 2,800 Sikhs were killed in Delhi and 3,350 nationwide, whilst independent sources estimate the number of deaths at about 8,000–17,000. The assassination of Indira Gandhi itself had taken place shortly after she had ordered Operation Blue Star, a military action to secure the Harmandir Sahib Sikh temple complex in Amritsar, Punjab, in June 1984. The operation had resulted in a deadly battle with armed Sikh groups who were demanding greater rights and autonomy for Punjab and the deaths of many pilgrims. Sikhs worldwide had criticized the army action and many saw it as an assault on their religion and identity. In the aftermath of the pogroms, the government reported that 20,000 had fled the city; the People's Union for Civil Liberties reported "at least" 1,000 displaced persons. The most-affected regions were the Sikh neighborhoods of Delhi. Human rights organizations and newspapers across India believed that the massacre was organized. The collusion of political officials connected to the Indian National Congress in the violence and judicial failure to penalize the perpetrators alienated Sikhs and increased support for the Khalistan movement. The Akal Takht, Sikhism's governing body, considers the killings a genocide. In 2011, Human Rights Watch reported that the Government of India had "yet to prosecute those responsible for the mass killings".According to the 2011 WikiLeaks cable leaks, the United States was convinced of Indian National Congress' complicity in the riots and called it "opportunism" and "hatred" by the Congress government, of Sikhs. Although the U.S. has not identified the riots as genocide, it acknowledged that "grave human rights violations" occurred. In 2011, the burned sites of multiple Sikh killings from 1984, were discovered in Hondh-Chillar and Pataudi areas of Haryana. The Central Bureau of Investigation, the main Indian investigative agency, believes that the violence was organized with support from the Delhi police and some central-government officials. After 34 years of delay, in December 2018, the first high-profile conviction for the 1984 anti-Sikh riots took place with the arrest of Congress leader Sajjan Kumar, who was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Delhi High Court. Very few convictions have taken place in the pending 1984 cases, with only one death penalty conviction for an accused, Yashpal in the case of murdering Sikhs in the Mahipalpur area of Delhi. 2023.06.03 07:52 SkyHighGam3r Remedyverse Replay Findings - The Flesh of Fallen Angels
I have started replaying the entire Remedyverse in preparation for Alan Wake 2, and right now I am playing through Max Payne 1, and I'm into about the half-way point. I haven't really been expecting any kind of references or anything like that. Mostly I just want things fresh in my mind. Max especially given that Alex is showing up in AW2.
Anyway, I've noticed 2 things. One was a simple conversation in Part 1 when you are making your way out of the hotel after killing the finito brothers. There's a couple of goons at a vending machine, and the first guy kicks it, and then second guy says "Careful, it might kick back. Oooo killer vending machine". Never would have given this even a remote thought... until Control. I'm not saying this vending machine is an altered item, but the IDEA of it... just thought it was interesting.
The BIGGER thing is this pretty infamous scene where Jack Lupino is screaming about tasing the "Flesh of Fallen Angels". While I think we all remember that line, I want to put the dialogue of that sequence here.
Max: "...and then he started this spooky monkey talk, straight from a bad dream. Mine." Jack: " I have tasted the flesh of fallen angels. I have tasted the devil's green blood, it runs in my veins I have seen beyond the world of skin, the architecture of blood and bone marrow... Death is coming... She is coming, and hell follows with her. This is the twilight winter. I am ready to be her son. Her time is now, and all that stand in her way must die!"
I don't know about you guys, but... this is giving me strong vibes of the not-mother. Again, not as if it's a SPECIFIC reference, but some of the elements here. Feeding the kids her green milk, turning them into her children, the dung-monkeys.
Maybe it's nothing, but it stood out to me, and I wanted to share. Like I said I am replaying the entire Remedyverse before mid october, so I may pop in with more either here or Alan Wake's reddit depending on which seems more relevant.

2023.06.03 04:57 nimmoisa000 Open world crime game idea Cartel: Palm City.
Developed by Hangar 13, DICE, Ripple Effect Studios, EA Gothenburg, and Criterion Games and published by EA.
Additionally former EA Black Box and Ghost Games employees who would help access game assets and code from previous NFS titles to streamline the development)
Cartel (or alternatively as “Cartel: Palm City” or "Cartel: Miami" ) would be an open world title based on the Mafia Games, the GTA games and the Saints Row games, with elements of Battlefield: Hardline thrown in with an array of weapons and vehicles based on their real life counterparts.
Gameplay wise the driving would be like Need for Speed titles, and on foot and shooting mechanics like BF: Hardline and Saints Row. Plus you can customize your cars and weapons to the same extent in BF: 2042 and some cars would allow for mounted weapons,on foot you can execute people with your equipped weapon like in The Godfather games. On foot would be an FPS view (you can change to a third person view as well) same with having an FPS view in your car.
There would an single player experience point system (like in BF Hardline single player) you gain XP from killing gangsters, and cops blowing up or capturing enemy vehicles and completing main missions, side missions and activities also there will be 15 levels to achieve with each level up unlocking new weapons, vehicles and customization for your weapons and vehicles. As well as a New Game Plus (NG+) where everything you unlocked is carried over and you can also play on the higher difficulties through NG+.
Also there would be five wanted levels for police and five vendetta levels for the gangs should you reach level five gang vendetta you start a Gang War there are three ways to stop a Gang War either bribe the feds, blow up a gang stronghold, or hide out in a safe house. Police wanted levels one and two local units would come after the player, at police wanted level two or three the state police would come after the player. At wanted level four and five the feds would come after the player. The military will only come after the player if they trespass in Fort Rockport or the Palmount Naval Shipyard
The Storyline
In Cartel: Palm City; in a different universe and timeline where there's a total prohibition of all narcotics in the United States in 2010; tells the story of Jack Rourke (the player character) a hardworking rideshare driver at day and a street racer at night who's scraping by in Palm City circa 2019. One fateful night, Jack Rourke has an inadvertent brush with the Blackwell Syndicate (mainly Carl Stoddard and that showcases a life of reward too big to ignore. As he joins the Blackwell Syndicate who are fighting for control of Palm City against five other criminal groups and take the city for the Blackwell Syndicate including recovering evidence that could not only convict the Blackwell Syndicate, as well as a network of crime lords in many countries, (including the other gang’s backers) including the Blackwell Syndicate's backers the Mob and it would also directly implicate the CIA in Palm City’s drug trade with Jack Rourke earning the nickname “El Sicario” for his efforts in driving the other gangs out of Palm City. When he learns how much the drugs were hurting the people of Palm City and all over the country as well as learning that the Blackwell Syndicate had gotten into the drug trade themselves, he contacts FBI agent Chase Linh who relays the story to her and offers the evidence and his testimony in exchange for full immunity for him and his associates, and the evidence on the computer was enough to convict everyone form all the five gangs, but also their crime lord backers from at least half a dozen countries, as well implicating the CIA in this as well as lobbying efforts to keep all narcotics prohibited, leading to a new administration repealing the Narcotics Prohibition law and legalizing low level cannabis. However six months later after the repeal of the Narcotics Prohibition Jack Rourke would be gunned down by Russian Mafia hitmen, Dimitri "Dima '' Mayakovsky and Henry "Black" Blackburn.

The Gangs of Palm City
L.S 16 (Los Salmos 16) - Also known as The Salmos. Backed by the most powerful Mexican drug lords and the most powerful arms traffickers in the world, L.S 16 once ruled all of Palm City In fear until The House stepped in. They’re also the strongest gang in the game with access to military grade weapons and vehicles and each gang kill from them awards 500-1,500 XP depending on the enemy type. They are led by Neil Roark.
The House - The House is a gambling gang with strong ties and backed by the Sicilian Mafia; they run the street scene and the casinos in Palm City. They’re pretty strong but weaker than L.S 16, and they have access to military grade weapons and vehicles each gang kills from them awards 250-800 XP depending on the enemy type. Headed by Lina Navarro.
The Volk - The Volk is a Chinese-Russian gang led by Roman Barkov with Niko Barkov as their enforcer backed by the Triads (Chan Wu), the Russian Mob (Dimitri Glebov), and GMAC's crew (Gregory "GMAC" MacDonald, Rose Largo) for cars who control the weapon smuggling and arms dealing in Palm City. With this backing and access to military grade weapons. They are a mid tier gang and each gang kill from them awards 200-600 XP depending on the enemy type. They are also the ones who go after the Blackwell Syndicate the most.
Palm Kings - The Palm Kings (PKs) is a Black gang made up of Black nationalists who controls Palm Harbor’s rackets and extorts store owners. Led by Benny King, they’re equipped with police-grade weaponry and has strong ties with the PCPD despite this, they are the second weakest gang in the game and each gang kill from them awards 150-500 XP depending if it's a regular to elite
Dixie Paladins - The Dixie Paladins are a white supremacy gang and a militarized version of the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) who controls the Gold Coast Mountains in the mountainous regions of Palm City. they’re the weakest gang in the game and each gang kill from them awards 100-250 XP from regular to elite members. They are led by Tony Alpert
Blackwell Syndicate - The Blackwell Syndicate is a underground criminal organization based in Palm City and is led by Marcus Blackwell with Julian “Julius” Little as underboss, Hector Maio before "Code of Silence" and Zack Maio after "Code of Silence". Nick Mendoza. Khai Minh Dao and Carl Stoddard are caporegimes and Tyson Latchford, Tyler "Ty" Morgan, Sean "Mac" McAlister, Jessica "Jess" Miller as soldiers. Other members include Ravindra "Rav" Chaudhry as the gang's car expert Rachel Teller as the gang's customization expert, Marcus “Boomer” Boone as the gang's weapon experts. The Blackwell Syndicate would be the gang that the player would join. In Act 1, they're an outside and fast tracked to soldier, but in Act 2 the player would be a capo until the end of the game. They are secretly backed by both The Mob and the CIA through Agent Dawes. Jonathan Cross and Mia Townsend are also on the gang's payroll until "Bon Appetit" where Marcus Blackwell executes him with a 870P Magnum to the head. Also Mia would also go with Jack Rourke as well
The police/military force
PCPD - the police force of Palm City/Miami if the player does hostile acts (killing civilians, firing unsuppressed weapons in public, etc) will attract police attention and each kill from them awards 50 XP for regular members and 100 XP for armored members, However the player can bribe the PCPD to look the other way or will even help the player fight the other gangs but would be the target of higher level police forces. (Sort of like it was in The Godfather game) The player can also buy favors from them as well. Also they’ll deploy stronger units at higher heat level alongside the FBI. The cars PCPD drives are the Ford Crown Victoria, Dodge Challenger, Pontiac GTO, and the Chevy Grand Sport
Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) - The state police force and Only appears in wanted levels 3 and above, Each kill from them awards 75 XP for regular state troopers and 150 XP for tactical state troopers. Regular state troopers drives Ford Mustang GTs tactical state troopers drives Nissan GT-R
FBI - Only appears in wanted level 5 the FBI will be called in if the player continues to retaliate against the PCPD. Each kill from them awards 125 XP for regular agents, 250 XP for FBI SWAT and 375 XP for FBI HRT, Like the PCPD the player can bribe the FBI to look the other way, or even help the player fight gangs, or the PCPD but at the second highest price. The FBI also has the second widest array of favors the player can buy. regular agents drives the Nissan 350Z or Porsche 911 GT3 RS, FBI SWAT drives the - Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Roadster or Ford F-150 SVT Raptor L.E. and FBI HRT drives the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X or Land Rover Range Rover Sport SVR
Military - Only goes after the player if they trespass in Fort Rockport or the Palmount Naval Shipyard. Each kill from them awards 200 XP for regs, 400 XP for experienced troops and 600 XP for elite troops. Like the PCPD, State Police and the FBI, the player can bribe the military to look the other way, or even help the player fight gangs, the PCPD, State Police or even the FBI but at the highest price and The military also has the widest array of favors the player can buy in large part due to Agent Dawes’ connections in Washington.
Multiplayer portion of the game would take place during the five cartels war where the Blackwell Syndicate, The Volk, Palm Kings, Dixie Paldines, Los Salmos 16, and The House (basically where Jack Rourke glosses over saying "It was non-stop chaos for weeks")
Also there would be a free ride mode where the player can explore the city at their leisure or pick a fight with either other cartels or the cops.

2023.06.03 04:02 521Cooper The American government is stupid
First off, the green m and m. Well I find it very unnecessary that they felt the need to change the boots, who cares what the m and m is wearing, let them wear the sexy boots. I find it stupid that wokenees has infiltrated our culture so much that I can’t even look at the green m and m without being judged. What’s next are they going to tell me that I have to start driving exclusively sober. Sometimes you wanna just spice things up a little and be a little bit silly. But no the government is always breathing down our neck, we are just slaves to the machine. In all honesty I don’t even think that 16 should be the minimum age to get a drivers license, back in my grandpas day he was allowed to get his drivers license when he was 12, this was back when he was working in the coal mines. This brings me to my next point, children belong in the coal mines, I mean realistically the children yearn for the mines and child labor really isn’t that bad. Most kids hate school anyway, so at least they’d be useful to society. Even better we can start training them to safely mine lithium to make our iPhones even cheaper, the cheaper the better no matter the cost. I don’t really get when people advocate for children’s rights when they can’t even advocate for themselves. Smh Honestly why even bother??

2023.06.03 03:44 1800TheCat Does any of this sound familiar?
Hi All! Has anyone in this group had extreme reactions to probiotics? Like feeling crazy, tingling, nerve symptoms, anxiety after taking them? Has anyone been prescribed Nortriptyline for nerve pain, tingling, tremors, GERD or NERD, etc associated with gut health? Has anyone here had to limit their diet to literally just protein and greens (kale, collards, zucchini, sprouts, etc.) and can't eat any nightshades, high fodmaps, fructose, sugar, caffeine, dairy, gluten or...pretty much anything else without their body going into shock and experiencing extreme anxiety, heart palpitations, depression, brain fog, muscle weakness/spasms/pain? I'd love to hear from you if any of this sounds familiar.
I've already been through H Pylori (eradicated), I was on Omeprazole for 20 years (pretty sure I have had low stomach acid since childhood and have always had severe heartburn but no signs of damage in upper endo so now I'm thinking NERD), nutritionists, vitamin injections, heart procedure (ablation to reduce afib), nose surgery (they said it was my deviated septum and gave me surgery and a CPAP machine), neurologists, kinesiologists, specialists etc. I JUST got my doctors onto the gut/brain axis and they told me to try Nerva (which I actually do like) and I'm on a waiting list to see an in-person hypnotherapist. I have Nortriptyline but am scared to take it because my body reacts/rejects everything. Am I a hot mess or what? Would love to hear any similarities or ideas out there!

2023.06.03 03:15 thiccc_glasses New student intro!
Hi all!
Writing as someone who started WGU's Bachelor of Science, Cybersecurity and Information Assurance program on June 1!
I just wanted to introduce myself and also ask for any insight or experience you might want to share.
Background: I am someone in their late 40s making a pretty hard left, career-wise. I have spent the last 10 years as a professor and director of a university's journalism capstone program.
While I admittedly bring little to no meaningful tech background, I am focused. I tell my students how it took me 17 years to complete my undergrad degree, I completed my grad degree in 10 months while also working full-time.
With my background as a journalist and educator, I'm extremely detailed oriented, logical, articulate, organized, evidence based. I read books on critical and analytical thinking in my own time just to refine those skills. I say this all because I think what I what I lack in IT knowledge and experience, I do have some of the soft skills which seem to be also important.
I also have the next two and a half months to dedicate to nothing but school. I rented a place so I will have no distractions. I also only teach two classes per semester, so I will continue to have significant time to devote to this in the fall.
I purchased an Alienware m15 R7 laptop to meet school and professional needs (feedback welcome, comes tomorrow!):
- LCD: 15.6" QHD (2560 x 1440) 240Hz 2ms with ComfortView Plus, NVIDIA G-SYNC and Advanced Optimus
- Memory: 32GB, 2x16GB, DDR5, 4800MHz
- Processor: Intel Core i9- 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-12900H (24 MB cache, 14 cores, 20 threads, up to 5.00 GHz Turbo)
- Storage: 1TB PCIe NVMe M.2 2280
- Video Card: NVIDIA(R) GeForce RTX(TM) 3080 8GB GDDR6
Q1: Is there anything I should or should not do with a new machine before I fire it up and/or connect to the internet? Admittedly, I don't exactly know what I want to do, or what to do. I plan on utilizing all of WGU's resources, including career development (as I urge my students to, and realize I am going to need this myself).
Q2: What do now know that you wish you knew when you were getting into the field/program? In order to both protect myself professionally (my employer has no idea I'm doing this but I just renewed a two-year contract) and also because I'm making such drastic changes, I'm also creating new online profiles and accounts (emails, social, online identities). Any relationships I need to continue I'm sharing the new info with, but really starting fresh. I had closed all my personal accounts years ago, so I have a new email, Discord, Reddit, etc. (I joined the WGU Cybersecurity Discord and subreddit.)
Q3: What are good news or other resources you might suggest for someone green in the industry? I've also found success just listening to pods that are beyond my knowledge or experience, but I passively pick up names, ideas, concepts, etc.
Q4: What is your work/study flow for time management and to-do lists (I use Sunsama), as well as note taking (specifically, does anyone use Roam)?
Looking forward to starting Intro to IT D322 on Monday.
Admittedly, I don't have much to offer here at this point. But maybe my questions can help others until I'm much further along and can help the next n00b.
Thanks in advance! -tg

2023.06.03 03:10 CalicoIda Alice, Saya and Saeko play Ascension: Part 1
I've been thinking about this for a bit and I decided you know what I might as well have Alice and a couple of the other girls play Ascension and try to get to round 30. It was originally supposed to be Saya and Alice playing it but I decided to throw Saeko into the mix to spice things up. The first part will contain rounds 1-10.
Ascension as a map is easy! The reason behind it being easy is the fact that that the map has quite a few open areas where you could run around and gather the zombies into giant hordes and unleash everything onto them plus with some useful tactical grenades and overpowered wonder weapons, this can make for a fun experience.
It's three girls, two guns per girl, five perks (No Mule Kick) with one objective: Survive.
Alice, Saya and Saeko landed into the area with their Lunar Lander as they were trying to figure out where they were in this cosmodrone. Alice looked aroind as Saya tried to figure our what was happening.
"Hey who took the color away?" Saya asked while they were looking around.
"Help me." A voice called out. The three girls turned their heads to figure out who was speaking. "The mechanism must be repaired. Please, she's coming."
"Don't worry sir we'll try to help you." Alice called out to whoever said the mysterious voice that she would try everything to rescue it. "We only have three players and we need four. Who should be the fourth player?" Alice asked as they couldn't save this man with just three players.
"It doesn't matter Alice, let's try our best to have some fun." Saeko told Alice that having a full team of four wasn't going to really matter at this point but they should try their best to enjoy themselves.
"Well the time to have fun is now, I can hear them breaking in." Saya explaind to Saeko. It turned out Saya was right, the zombies were indeed breaking in. Alice went up to one of the windows and slashed a zombie open with her knife, the zombie went down Saeko and Saya did the same thing as they were slashing the zombies down with one blow. Eventually they finished slashing them as the next round began.
"We need to find the color to this map so I think there might be a big power switch somewhere." Saeko suggested that they should bring the color back as the black and white atmosphere was creeping them out.
"Which way should we go?" Saya asked if there were any ideas of which direction they should take. Alice walked over to where the M14 was and purchased it.
"Ahh it looks like it's you and me my friend." Alice told the M14 as she cocked the rifle.
"For now let's build up points and then we'll decide." Saeko told the group. The zombies began to come in again as the three girls drew their pistoles and began firing, with the starting pistols being weak it was easy to build up points. The three of them began firing away, trying to accumilate as many points as they could, Their pistol ammo quickly ran out as they had to resort to much more effective means. Saeko was knifing the zombies while Alice was picking them off with her M14. If a zombie got too close, she would knife it and therefore bring the zombie down. She reloaded as much as she could to make sure she had a full magazine in there.
"Gah pistol ammo is out. We need to go." Saya called out. She spotted a door right by the lander that costs 750 points. She went over and purchased it. The door opened as Saya went exploring around, trying to find where the power switch was. She went up the stairs and spotted one of the perk machines, a tall one that overlooked the area. She looked out of the rafters as Alice and Saeko were trying to fight the zombies off as best as they could. "They need help." Saya told herself. She went up the second set of stairs to another door that costs 1250 points. She touched it as she realized she was out of cash. Not enough there to open the door. She looked around as she desperately needed a gun. She spotted one right by where she was earlier. She went over and decided to purchase it for a thousand points. "It's not going to do much but it'll hold me over for a little while longer." Saya told herself as she purchased the PM-63. She decided to head back down the stairs to help.
Saya entered the scene as Saeko was running out of ways to deal with the zombies and Alice was just racking up points with the M14. Saya began firing the PM-63 trying to go for headshots. Eventually one of the zombies dropped a hammer as Saeko ran up and picked it up.
"Carpenter!" The voice called out. Almost like magic the barriers came back as this clowed the game down. At least everyone got a couple hudrred extra points. Finally out of the blue the structure in the center of the room began to spin the spinning continued to get faster and faster as the last few zombies were killed as their bodies were flung all over. The round ended as the next round began.
"Round 3 we need to turn the power on." Saeko reminded them that they needed to turn the power on.
"I have made a way there, let's take that." Saya told Saeko that they could go her way and get the power open.
"No don't! I'll explain later when the power is on and we get perks." Alice warned them to not open the door heading up the other stairwell. They nodded as they began to look around.
"What about that door heading out?" Saeko asked as she pointed to the one above the stairs. Saeko and Saya went over, up the stairs and to the door. Saeko had points but she had no decent weapon so she wanted to save up.
"This door?" Saya asked. They heard the moans of zombies that were starting to spawn as they were going to attack next.
"Yes!" Saeko shouted. She went over and purchased the 750 door and this lead them outside. She turned back to Alice who was ready to take the zombies on. "Are you sure you're going to be okay?" Saeko asked Alice.
"I'll be alright, go!" Alice shouted. Alice raised her M14 and began firing away at the zombies. She was desperate to buy Saeko and Saya time to switch the power on.
Saeko was trying her best to knife the zombies while Saya took potshots with the PM-63, a round or two was needed as Saeko finished them off. Saya even went for headshots as it was the fastest way to get points. The two of them rounded the corner as Saeko went up and purchased the Mp5K from the wall.
"Something to hold me over for now until a better weapon is acquired." Saeko told herself as she began firing the sub machine gun at the zombies. She was helping Saya out as Saya purchased the next door. The two of them headed off as they followed the arrows to find the power switch. They found the door that was going to lead them to where Saya originally wanted to go. Saya raised her PM63 and fired at the zombies following them. She reloaded as they headed up the stairs. They were going to find the power switch today. Making their way up the stairs, they eventually got to the top of the stairs where another door was, It was 1250 points. Saeko bought it as this top door contained the Mystery Box. Saya went over to the Mystery Box while Saeko grabbed the power switch and flipped it on.
"Hey the color is back!" Saya shouted as she was happy with this revalation. Saeko nodded as she fired her Mp5K at the zombies. Saya was watching the Mystery Box flash the random guns it had as it was giving Saya the choice of illusion. Eventually the gun landed on the Galil as Saya takes it and traded her empty pistol away. "Well time to make them bow down before me without their kneecaps!" Saya called out. They watched as the rocket was being set up. After a few seconds they had set the rocket set up. "What next Saeko?" Saya asked. Saeko went over to the other door that costs 1250 points and purchased it. She had the most amount of points out of the group though she was starting to run out.
"We keep moving. We need to make sure Alice is still safe and hasn't gone down as of yet." Saeko told Saya that making sure they were able to keep Alice alive was the next priority.
The two of them headed down the stairs to see where they were going to go. Saya was shooting the zombies with the PM-63 as the third round came to a close and the fourth round began. Saya was beginning to run out of PM-63 ammo as she was going to use the rest of that up and hit the box again. Saya went over and purchase the 1250 door that lead up.
"Will Alice be safe?" Saya asked as she was keeping a look out for her friend.
"She hasn't gone down as of yet so she's doing okay but I don't know how well she is doing currently." Saeko told Saya as they past a green colored perk machine and the wallbuy for the M16. They eventually found one of the spots as Saeko spotted something strange and she went up to it. She purchased the Sickle for 3000 points.
"A farming tool to kill the zombies? I wonder how this would turn out?" Saeko asked while she twirled the Sickle around. One of the zombies approached Saeko and she quickly swiped it with the sickle, quickly taking it down. "Sickle does more damage than the knife?" Saeko asked, she was going to hang onto it. Saya went over and pushed the button.
Alice was busy fighting off the zombies but her M14 was becoming less effective, she had racked up a large number of points because of it but she was starting to get swarmed. She had been standing on the Lunar Lander when she felt a shaking and the gates went up.
"Woah woah woah!" Alice told herself as she was taken off balance. She was in for a ride. The Lunar Lander flew off to where it had been called. Alice looked around from her position as two thirds of the map had been opened. Eventually the Lunar Lander made touch down to the area where Saya and Saeko were.
"How are you Alice?" Saeko asked as she wanted to see how Alice was doing.
"Fine but I got a full magazine in the M14 and not much ammo left, I'm starting to run out." Alice told Saeko that she was running dry on ammo. Saeko swiped at the zombie with the Sickle while Alice fired away.
"Okay. Saya take this lander back. I'm going to take Alice to the box." Saeko gave Saya some objectives to take care of the Lander while she got Alice a better gun. "Come on Alice." Saeko told Alice. Alice nodded while she and Saeko went back to the Mystery Box. Saya activated the Lunar Lander which began to take her back to spawn.
Saeko and Alice went to the mystery box as they were going to have Alice replace one of her out of ammo guns. Since Alice and Saeko had made a lot of points, they were going to hit the box and try finding something better. They looked up to see one of the pieces of the rocket flash green.
"A rocket piece is green, what does that mean?" Alice asked as she didn't know what exactly this was going to mean.
"I don't know either. Maybe we should link up more landers." Saeko suggested. She got out the Mp5K and fired away to make more points. Alice went over as she was going to trade her empty pistol out for something to kill zombies. Alice went to the Mystery Box and decided to spend some of her points to find out what she was going to get. She looked in wonder as the guns were spinning around in her head trying to see what she was going to get. Eventually it landed on a gun and Alice took it.
"I still think this is my favorite shotgun." Alice told herself as she had gotten herself the Spas-12 from the box. She went up to a zombie and blasted its face in. The zombie went down instantly but for Alice it wasn't that much of a good pay off. "I need a point maker but I will hang onto this." Alice sighed. Saeko went over to the Mystery Box and tried to get something good from the box. Eventually Saeko got a bunch of wooden nesting dolls as her choice of weaponry.
"I don't know what these dolls will do to save a warrior like me? I think these will please the emperor." Saeko told herself as she had gotten herself the Matroyshka Dolls. Saeko was curious to see what these dolls were going to do but she was going to save them up for a large crowd of zombies thinking they had some kind of grenade in them.
Alice was dumping whatever ammo she had left in her M14 while Saeko went to rejoin her. Saya was busy doing the next Lunar Lander as she was determined to link all of them up. Saya nodded that they were fighting on. Alice used the last ammo she whipped out the Spas-12 and began firing it at the zombies. Saya spent more points on the Lunar Lander as it began to bring her back while Saeko attacked the Zombies with the Sickle.
"I'm going to open the last part of the map, try to find Saya and see what the next strategy is." Alice told Saeko. Saeko nodded before pulling out the Matroyshka doll and opening up. Out popped a doll into the crowd of zombies the doll exploded as those dolls underneath also detonated, wiping out the entire group in one go.
"Oh Cluster bombs." Saeko told herself. Round four has ended and Round five began. Saeko went off to find Saya.
Alice went to the left of spawn and made her way to the back end of the map. She finished reloading her Spas-12 and began to wonder how she was going to need points. She looked around to see if she was going to get another gun from the wall. She spotted something outlined in chalk. She walked up to the chalk and purchased the AK-74U to replace the ammoless M14. A couple of zombies approached her.
"Well I can't say that this is my favorite gun from the wall." Alice told herself as she cocked the AK-74U bolt. The zombies rounded the corner. Alice pointed the SMG at the zombies and fired into their heads, their heads popped off as Alice still had some points left over. Alice went to the door to the last lander and opened it. It was a huge area where rounding up the zombies was possible. She went to the Lunar Lander and called it over. The Lander arrived a couple moments later as Alice fired into the heads of a couple more zombies and did her best to get points. Eventually the Lander arrived as Alice got onto it, ready to take the trip back. She pressed the button as the gates went up and the Lander took off. "I'm going for a ride. WEEE!" Alice cheerfully called out. The Lander would eventually return her to Spawn as Saeko and Saya were busy trying to fight the zombies. When the Lander reached them. Alice pointed the AK-74U and finished off the crowd.
"Where were you Alice?" Saya asked. Saeko looked at the screen.
"Saya don't ask, look!" Saeko told Saya. "Alice activated the last Lander, the entire rocket is green and ready to take off."
"All right let's go get perks first." Saya told the group that getting at least one perk before heading off to activate the Rocket was important. She took off to the tunnel where she purchased the PM-63 and knew what perk they decided to get. They decided to go for the one that was located in the area by the PM-63 and stock up on perks. After getting what they needed. They prepared to head out as Alice and Saya killed the last couple of zombies, this triggered Round six to begin.
"So far so good, I'm going to look out ahead." Alice told Saeko and Saya, They nodded as Alice decided to take a look around but this round six was going to be their first challenge. "Uhh... why is the screen red?" Alice asked. Suddenly She heard something crash down. Alice quickly got out the Spas-12 thinking it was her way of killing the zombies. Then monkeys in spacesuits began to emerge from the pods and start heading straight for Alice. Alice felt like she was going to panic, she quickly fired the Spas-12 off as a warning, killing a monkey. Alice ran back to Saeko and Saya as if she didn't know what to do. Saeko spotted Alice coming fo them in a panic.
"Is there something wrong?" Saeko asked. Alice reloaded her Spas-12 as she wanted to have a full tube.
"Yes, monkeys are coming!" Alice told them. She turned around as the monkeys had made their appearance. Alice got herself ready as Saya had her PM-63 on standby which she had purchased more ammo for and Saeko had her sickle. Alice lined up her sight on a monkey and fired, killing it instantly. A monkey tried to attack Saeko but the latter jabbed it with the Sickle. Alice was blowing the monkeys up with the shotgun as Saya fired into a couple of them with her PM-63, Another monkey attempted to attack Saya but Alice turned and blasted the shotgun into the Monkey's face.
"Stay back!" Saya shouted before firing her PM-63 into another monkey. The monkeys continued to attack as Alice blasted the Spas-12 into more of the monkeys. It was her effective way of dispatching them as Saeko was using her sickle. Finally Saya shot the last monkey as an ammo box and a bottle had dropped. Alice reloaded her guns while Saeko went over and picked both of them up. they now had two perks as the second perk had been randomized for each of them.
"Max ammo!" The announcement had been made looks like they had. All of their guns had been magically refilled. Round seven had begun.
"Let's go turn that rocket on." Saya instructed the group. They began to make their way back to the rocket with Saeko leading the way as she slashed the zombies with the Sickle. Saya was supporting her by dumping out all of her PM-63 rounds into the zombies as possible. Alice was at the rear using the AK-74U to build up points. As they moved around to the rocket where they believed it was. They approached the power room where the Rocket was Located. Saya and Alice went to the mystery box while Saeko was slashing the zombies with her sickle. Saya had used all the ammo in her PM-63 and was ready to dump the gun entirely. She was the first to hit the box to see what she was going to get. When the jingle finished. Saya had become really excited to get the gun she was gifted.
"SAY HELLO TO MY BEAUTIFUL FRIEND! Oh wait... that's just me." Saya told herself excitedly as she had recieved the Thundergun, exchanging her PM-63. Saya went over as a large crowd of zombies as Saeko was being overran. With the click of the trigger, the zzombies were instantly killed. Saeko nodded while she was going to deal with the other side. Saya went up to the rocket and pressed the button. The rocket began to fly up into the sky as as someone had authorized its launch. Alice was had hit the box and was too busy watching the guns to really pay attention to what Saeko and Saya were doing which was watching the rocket fly into the air. Alice finally recieved what she needed from the box.
"Man this looks odd, might as well figure out what it does." Alice told herself as she had gotten the Gersh Device. Alice decided to head down to where the rocket was stationed and where it took off from. Saeko and Saya decided to follow as Alice killed the last three zombies. With their deaths, round eight had begun.
Alice had went down into the launch pad area where the rocket was as those doors had now been open. Alice went inside as if she had opened the final area of the map. There was a machine that was her reward that they had linked the Lunar Landers together. Alice quickly took out the Spas-12 as the zombies were breaking down the barricades.
"Well I don't want to be stuck loading into a game." Alice told herself as she placed the Spas-12 into the Pacck a Punch Machine. She had ground up enough points to be able to achieve a feat like this. Saya and Saeko had arrived as Alice was upgrading one of her guns.
"Alice what are you doing?!" Saya asked with concern. The zombies began to pour through the barricades while Pack a Punch Machine gave the gun back to Alice.
"Hey guys this is nice and shiny now!" Alice shouted as she held her Spaz-24 shotgun. She pointed it at a group of zombies, she fired it. It was a hybrid of an automatic rifle and a shotgun as it was blasting the zombies heads off. Best part of it was the fact that should reload it all in one go instead of reloading it individually. A large group of zombies made their way into the room as Saeko was curious about what this Pack a Punch machine could do. She got out her colt and placed it into the Pack a Punch Machine. Alice and Saya thought they weren't going to hold them off this time so Alice got out one of her Gersh Devices and activated it, she threw it at the feet of the zombies as they ran over it suddenly a purple sphere had been opened as the zombies were quickly being sucked into the Gersh Device. Alice being curious tried to figure out where this machine was going to take her. She ran over and dove into the Gersh Device.
"Alice no!" Saya shouted. It was too late Alice had disappeared as Saeko grabbed what seemed to be her starting pistol from the Pack a Punch Machine.
"Is it strange that the starting room pistol is turned into a dual wield grenade launcher?" Saeko asked as Saya was panicking. Saeko looked around while getting out her Mp5K and firing it at the zombies. "Has anyone seen Alice?" Saeko asked.
Alice eventually popped out as the Gersh Device was a black hole for the zombies but for Alice she must've survived this. Alice looked around as she spotted a perk machine and the AK-74U wall buy she had purchased earlier.
"I survived the portal trip I don't think I want to be doing that again." Alice told herself. Then round eight had ended and turned into round nine. The Zombies began to swarm around her as Alice got out the AK-74U and began firing it off as she needed the points. She was going to attempt to empty out the magazine if she was going to be able to change it for another gun. She reloaded as if she was firing it all off rapidly. Alice would eventurally dump out all the AK-74U ammo as she decided to get out the Spaz-24 and begin blasting her way through the crowd. The Spaz-24 was effective at its job maybe a little too effective. Alice was happily blasting away as whatever this pack a punch machine had done had made this shotgun beefy so strong that when Alice needed to reload, she had taken out everything around her. Alice went over to the Lunar Lander and tried to call it over. Eventually it came over and Alice got onto it. Then the Lander took off but Alice didn't push any buttons. The lander few up into the sky as she wasn't being taken back to spawn but rather to Lander site B where the Sickle was. When Alice landed. Saeko and Saya were waiting as Alice was relatively unharmed.
"Well what happened, we were so scared to have you not with us." Saya told Alice that she was more or less frightened to see where their friend went off to.
"I was teleported across the map when I went into that device. The zombies were sucked in which I was more than happy to find out." Alice replied about her experience. She went over and purchased the Sickle, Saya killed the last zombie as round nine ended and round ten began.
"Cool so we can all be teleported?" Saya asked. Saeko was in the mood to go to the mystery box to exchange the empty Mp5K she had. Alice definitely wanted to see the box again. Alice was also out of AK-74U ammo and she needed a good point maker to help balance her Spaz-24. She got out the shotgun and she began to blast her way through to the mystery box. The others were behind as Saeko was blowing up everything with his pistols from the rear. Saeko even got out onf of the Matroyshka dolls and tossed it at the horde, the cluster grenades exploded as the entire group was taken down. Alice and Saya were keeping their guard as Saeko decided to hit the box. The guns were flashing all over before Saeko was given a gun.
"I don't know if a medieval weapon would be useful for someone like me?" Saeko asked as she took the crossbow. She aimed at the zombies anf fired before reloading, moments later the crossbow bolt detonated and took out some of the zombies. "Explosive huh?" Saeko asked. Alice went to the box to trade out the empty AK-74U she had. She hits the box while the others were trying to take out the zombies. For Saeko she watched as it landed on something she wanted.
"This box loves me!" Alice told herself as she recieved a Spectre from the box. She decided to join the fray and began to spray the Spectre into the zombie crowd as they were trying their best to get points and to clear out the crowd. Eventurally Alice threw down a Gersh device and it sucked the zombies in. "Come on." Alice called out. She Saeko and Saya raced into the Gersh Device and were swallowed up along with the zombies.
Eventurally the three of them would land in the spawn room where they were once again fine.
"Wow I never knew something like this could be exciting, it's like going through a teleporter." Saya began. They got up to dust themselves off. the three of them didn't realize was the fact that they had killed the last zombie and the round was over. Round eleven was about to begin.
"We survived the first ten rounds, now what?" Saya asked. The rest of the game was up to their choices.
Going to leave this off as this took a while to type as it was just them setting up and getting the Pack a Punch door to open as well as dealing with the mechanics of Ascension. Next two parts wouldn't be as long as I will be skipping rounds as it would be just them killing zombies and monkeys. It will get repetivive if I go through round for round but I will be describing major actions like getting guns and upgrading them. Also do not get the PM-63, it's a waste of points as you constantly need ammo for it. Also there is a door on Ascension that you should not open its the 1250 door where the PM-63 is and the reason the door should remain closed is when the monkeys spawn in they will take all the routes to steal your perks by keeping that door closed you're only giving the monkeys one route to steal your perks and you can defend two perks instead of one. Rounds 11-20 will be the next part. submitted by
