2022.05.10 16:55 Justieboy3 Comprehensive list of Asian urban legend movies - Part #1
Click here for part #2! After my
VS list I decided to make another list, but now with various Asian urban legends, Yōkai's, etc.
A similar Chinese/Bunshinsaba list is also in the works with u/TheArtyDans. Each urban legend/Yōkai is separated into its own category, which are listed alphabetically below. By clicking on the original title you'll be directed to the movie's respective IMDb page (where available). FYI: The categories include all films that feature their respective urban legend/Yōkai. So, be aware that (for instance) the Sadako category includes more than just Sadako Yamamura movies, and Inunaki is often about various things located there or the journey towards it! Every movie handles/adapts stuff different, and the given description is just a broad description.
If you see anything incorrect, missing, etc. Please let me know :). List of 'Akai Heya' (赤い部屋) movies:

2021.11.14 08:22 PKtheWorld Pop Culture References Needed
I'm currently working on a video series where I research different monsters/creatures from around the world, and then present that information in a video essay. The first few videos are going to be about yokai, but before I really cement the "Where to Find in Pop Culture" sections of each script, I want to make sure that I have as many references as possible.
The four yokai I'm doing essays on, and some of the pop culture references I have for each, are:
-Kodama: Nioh, Megami Tensei series, The Legend of Zelda series, and Princess Mononoke
-Yanari: I've yet to find any pop culture references for these little guys
-Tsuchigumo: Okami, Sine Mora, Nioh 2, Monster Hunter Rise (With a caveat)
-Hachishaku-sama: Resident Evil: Village, Fatal Frame V: Maiden of Black Water
I've spent maybe 2 or 3 days just making sure I could find some of these references, even watching other video essays (Gaijin Goombah saved my butt on a couple of these), but I want to make sure that I'm not missing something, like, an episode of GeGeGe no Kitaro, or The Great Yokai War.
Thanks for any help folks!
