2023.06.03 15:55 iNuv0 Training grotto Feedback.

With the change to the limited amount of keys to access the training grotto, I feel the rewards should be bumped up. The “lowest” amount of stones you can acquire per run is 12 and the highest is 21. So from a stack of 10 stones we are limited to UR gear for 2 - 3 characters unless you get stones from different events. Not to sure if we will get stones to access the cave on a weekly basis, also to mention we get the key for the time dungeons in the week we don’t get the cave key, which brings it to 2 keys a month at the lowest. That’s kinda hurting the UR gear grind. Hopefully they can look at this data and either up the key or UR stone distribution.

2023.06.03 15:54 Racm1999 My take on Samira’s Build

My take on Samira’s Build
I’ve been rocking with this same build for the past 30 games or so, im currently D4, 1 away from D3 and with this Build im on a 15+ Winning streak including SoloQ, FlexQ and Norms, and managed to climb the Samira ladders as the 45th Samira of my region, this fitted my playstyle perfectly since im usually an extremely aggro Samira player, when i started testing builds i was lost, i tried Youmu, IE, Galeforce and Duskblae, i hate the lethality builds since i dont have that feeling of explosive damage, i feel like im not bursting hard enough, so this is my build its super straightforward Collector > Galeforce > BT Thats my core 3 items even if there are tanks in the other team ill build LDR 4th and sometimes i dont even build it at all because when they get their first tank item im already buying my 3rd so im melting them Collector is huge early for obviuos reasons and then Galeforce for me is the most important item on Samira rn since the only animation Samira has that doesn’t let you mid-cast Galeforce is her Q, you can Galeforce in your W and your Ult and that makes you nearly unstoppable if used correctly. BT gives you that extra AD and Lifesteal that even if they have GW you still melt them while healing a good amount
This Build is for extremely aggro play, if you get 1 or 2 kills by 5 minutes, i havent seen an enemy bot lane capable of stopping you since you already be having Collector by 7-8 minutes in and then its all over, just 🧹 some skills and show them why Samira is so dangerous

2023.06.03 15:54 flamboy-and New house, bad surprise

We have just completed on a new property (not a new build). There were some obvious water damage to 2 walls in the house. The seller was adamant that this was due to an historic gutter work issue. We commissioned a level three structural survey which said there was water damage, but recommended a specialist on survey. Then we commissioned a specialist damp survey, which noted the condition of the walls and advised that this was likely due to the historic exterior drain pipe damage, but perhaps also exterior water ingress (ie “rising damp“).
We decided to press ahead with the purchase and to strip the walls back and dry them out, as well as installing some drains outside the perimeter to improve drainage.
On the day of completion, we discovered a large water leak under the floor which has clearly been going for some years, from a corroded pipe. It’s the very obvious source of the damage in our property, and it turns out that the neighbouring property has also experienced damage which they guarded against with dampproofing.
Our buildings insurance does not cover damage from issues that arise before the period of insurance. And the clause on wear and tear makes it pretty clear that problems arising from corrosion aren’t covered either.
If we had known about this issue, it would definitely have affected whether or not we purchased the property (at least at the price we negotiated).
Do we have any recourse for compensation from the surveyors? Any advice much appreciated. The repair work is likely to be expensive.

2023.06.03 15:54 vikas12_12 Understanding Self-Defence Laws in India (Lawyer's Perspective)

Hello, everyone! As a lawyer practicing in the Delhi High Court and working in a law firm, I've received numerous dms after my last post in Delhi regarding self-defence laws in India and how individuals can protect themselves in threatening situations. In this post, I'll provide a brief overview of the key points to keep in mind.
Under Indian law, individuals have the right to defend themselves when faced with imminent danger or threat. This right is recognized under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and other relevant laws. Keeping this short, here are some points to keep in mind : -
Now, let's discuss the commonly asked question: "When can we kill someone in self-defence?" In order to justify such extreme action, the following conditions must exist:
It's important to note that the above conditions serve as guidelines, and each case is different!! I have so much to write about but reddit....well if you have any specific questions or if there's a particular topic you'd like me to address in a concise manner, please let me know! I'm more than happy to provide further information. :)

2023.06.03 15:53 Su_Impact The free Preservation and Abundance units are more than enough for Memory of Chaos. Don't get baited by Luocha.

Disclaimer: Luocha is probably gonna be the best Abundance character upon release. This is logical since he's limited while Bailu is standard. But you don't need Luocha (or Bailu or Gepard) to clear MoC.
Right now, the #1 problem that we non-whales have with trying to rush Memory of Chaos is that nobody is TL 60 yet.
This means that we can't access the last ascension trace node, we can't max our DPS, we can't max our healers, we can't max our LCs, and we take a lot of extra damage due to the level difference.
And realistically, not everyone has invested in their Natasha, Fire MC, and March 7th with Level 15 Gold Relics and 8/8/8 traces.
But we will get there. One day.
The only advantage that Bailu, Gepard, and Luocha have is that at low investment they facilitate MoC clears. My Bailu's gear sucks (Purple Level 9 relics, random sets, 6/6/6 traces) and she already heals more than my E5 Natasha who has the 2-Healer Bonus set, a few Level 12 Gold relics, and 8/8/8 traces.
This is normal.
So what if you don't have Bailu or Gepard? How do you sustain the other side for Memory of Chaos?
The answer is combining the two free preservation units. Fire MC and March 7th, when maxed and combined, create a good defensive core that makes up for the lack of healing. Fire MC protects the party from AOE attacks thanks to his NA shield while March protects someone (ideally Fire MC) from ST attacks.
Sure, you sacrifice 2 slots so it's a Team DPS Loss but survival is the #1 short-term obstacle for Memory of Chaos clears. Eventually, your Main DPS will be able to clear enemy waves in a few cycles so you can bench either FireMC or March 7th replacing them with a Harmony/Nihility unit.
You just have to be patient.
Sure, if you love Luocha, pull for him. But understand that, meta-wise, MHY already gave us all the tools needed for clearing Memory of Chaos. In a few months we're gonna watch videos of non-gacha MoC clears using only the 8 free units.
Pulling for Luocha (and/or getting lucky and getting Bailu and/or Gepard) will cut down the number of weeks needed. But not by a lot. You're still gonna be limited by the daily stamina in terms of account progression.
Even at TL 60...it's gonna take you:
And don't get me started on the many many many weeks you'll need to max your traces since drop rates don't improve by a lot. It's still 1 blue and 1 green at TL 60 with a 16% chance of 1 purple. And that's the max Calyx level, it won't improve at TL 65.
Even with Bailu, I still can't clear MoC 8 since I end up dying. And I barely have 12 Stars since my DPS' relics/traces/levels at TL 56 are not good enough to 3-Star Floors 5, 6, and 7.
TLDR; Getting all 30 stars in MoC is a marathon, not a spring. And 5-Star Abundance and Preservation units will only help you get there a few days/weeks faster. But it's still gonna take many months.

2023.06.03 15:53 Maleficent-Act-4066 How to give up one’s life for another.

About 1year and 6 months ago, my Sister lost her 41 yr old daughter to cancer. Location Puerto Rico. She called for a family conference call. At the time she was taking care of my 90 yr old mother who is suffering with dementia. The call was to talk to the other 10 siblings to see if someone can go live with our mother for 6 months then after 6 months we were to move mom to the states to one of my sisters house. She needed to time away from mom to tend to the surviving family. At the time there were 2 sisters that were single and unemployed. But they refused to go to our mother and live with her. Seeing how it was for only 6 months I reluctantly volunteered. Which meant for me to give up my job and sell my two beater vehicles and all my possessions to be stored in a shipping container. What ever was left that did not fit I gave away. I left a job that only paid $45,000 a year but I was going to get a promotion that would raise my income to $55,000 a year. I talked to my boss he said he would hold position for the 6 months. Turns out after being with my mother for 2 months I gave a sigh of relief to my sister that I only had 4 more months to go. Which in response she tells me that mom can never fly due to her heart condition. This statement shattered any hope of me leaving and getting my life back. So she lied to me. Problem with being here with my mother, she can’t be left alone for more than 4 hours. Thus hurting my chances of getting a job. So here I am no income. After selling both of my vehicles the first one I go a lump sum but I used the money for tools. The second one I sold to my brother but he paid me in installments so to but a car here was out of the question. For 7 months I had no car, until that same brother who paid me in installments came to puerto Rico and bought a used car for the same price I sold him mine in cash and after two months he gave me the keys to use it while I am here. Sound good but the car he bought was a four door sedan Mitsubishi gallant it’s know for its break downs. The family pays me $25 a month and $140 to cut the grass. This is what they promised to pay me but only 4 out of the 10 honor our agreement. The work I used to do prepared me for the work that was needed to be done here at my mothers house which was building maintenance. Believe me after 9 years of no work being done at her house the knowledge came in handy. I have dealt with power outages that was caused by a truck and major repairs needed to be done to regain power. Which the family had no money to repair. I had to dip into my XRP savings to fix the problem I sold 4000 xrp to fix the damages. Mind you I have no way to replenish. Any ways I write this just to put it out there and a way not to fall into depression. Which there is lots more that I can not post but because I am a man no one cares. Every day I do something or create something to gain my sanity. I thought my self how to weld. I build things for escape. I raise chicken and build coops to escape as well. But the worry on how I will get the money for the feed worries me. I gave up my life and holding on to it by a thread. Lord God help me achieve what I need to.

2023.06.03 15:52 dbwn87 Media control pop-up not showing song info or control buttons

I am using Windows 10 on an Asus Vivobook laptop using Chrome.
I recently switched from Youtube Music to Apple Music. When playing full-screen games, I became quite accustomed to being able to control my music (play/pause, skip) by accessing that media control pop-up with my volume keys (aka F2 and F3 keys). However, since switching to Apple Music (and also playing music in iTunes) I have noticed the media control pop up doesn't do anything for Apple Music in Chrome or iTunes, but if I switch to Youtube Music in Chrome, it still works.
I'd really like to be able to easily skip songs when I am in full-screen gaming mode, and this seems like it could be an easy fix, any advice?
This screenshot shows what I am talking about - it still shows the song/artist, the backwards/play/forwards buttons when I use Youtube Music in Chrome, but when I use Apple Music in Chrome or iTunes it only shows the volume bar.

2023.06.03 15:52 Funny-Caterpillar-16 The hidden truth - covid (you want to know this)

Covid damages the brain even mild infections have lasting damage.
The truth is we don't know how progressive this is and we will be finding out soon if the rumors that this is a long term death sentence.
Something like neurological hiv - closest definition of what it appears to be.
If the dark web is correct most people have a decade or less to live.
Plus many will die from sudden heart attacks and strokes due to vaccine related injuries.
The pandemic is far from over and another big wave of the bioweapon might be upon us if things in China mirror what will happen when this new strain arrives.
Each strain just increases the viral load in the brain and then deposites inactive? Viral fragments in a organ which seems the vary with strains.
God help us if it is what I think it is, the world will definitely go to war with China eventually and this will definitely be part of the reason.
Follow the links in the comments in the story above for supporting proof.
The thing is this is a fragment of the original leak it's all I could find, what I read originally was far more disturbing and the thing is I watched for months leaked videos coming out if Wuhan some of the worst faces of death type videos of what was happening behind the iron curtin as they closed the world off from Wuhan.
Needless to say the article came out before covid hit the usa hard and spelled out it was neurological in nature but made to appear as the flu, the trick is a virus doesn't have to kill the host immediately to be effective especially if you want to get everyone.
So they put a timer in the genetic code of a secondary virus that is deeply embedded in the rna of the Coronavirus which they chose because of their very controversial experiments on gain function research and the Corona viruses unusual size being much larger than most viruses, allowed the p-4 lab of virology to splice in other dangerous viruses. It's designed to continue to evolve until it reaches a peak lethality over the span of a decade at which point the strain will wipe people out in hours to days like what happened with the original strain that wiped most of Wuhan out and then to beat the counter measures of the quarantine the virus split itself into two lesser more aggressively contagious, which is what has been passed around and is still changing ever working its way back to the super deadly version.
It's one of the reason our military did drills, they're planning for when the mutant strains the deadly ones that will begin to pop up in the next few years to extinguish them quickly.
Hopefully second and third generation vaccines that are less harmful and more protection will offer some relief.
Many of the vaccines currently available have a strong long term risk vectors.
So definitely do your homework, I went with Kbp-201 and JJ vaccine a week later.
Combing those vaccines probably almost killed me but I ran cycle therapy and boosted all my bodies functions with state of the art rx - supplemented and more.
That being said if you want to increase your chances of not dying first in a few years from pesissilence.
Mask - kn95 higher Social distance Take antivirals- several rx are really good Ambol(russian) valacyclovir, Acyclovir,famciclovir to name a fee. Supplements - chaga mushrooms, turkey tail, ashwangda, zinc, meylthelene Blue, benadryl + lactafarrin, cbd, echinacea, nac, nacet, selank, peptides like Thymosin Alpha-1 (TA-1) etc black seed current oil and many many more.
This is what is coming, hopefully I'm wrong - but the evidence is shaping up to be the sum of all fears.
Keeping healthy is also keen.
Everyone has long covid its just the majority - it hasn't bloomed yet inside them.
Most the virus is sleeping still then out of no where they'll think they caught covid again as they'll become postive again without infection and stay sick and chronically like the current long haulers begin to break down and eventually they'll just stop functioning like being able to care for themselves and others or they'll go crazy with rage and kill everything around them.
Good luck, and I hope you make it.

2023.06.03 15:52 Intelligent_Will_948 Can a useReducer master help me with this please?

I am building a simple shopping cart app, when clicking on a button in ProductCard component, the dispatch function from the reducer is triggered. Whats happening is, when I click on some other card to add the item, instead of adding to the existing basket items, it just replaces it. I think this is happening because of the initArg in the useReducer but I'm not sure how to fix it.
``` import { ProductDataTypes } from "../types/product-data-types";
export enum ActionTypeOptions { ADD = "ADD", REMOVE = "REMOVE", REMOVE_ALL = "REMOVE_ALL", }
type BasketAction = { type: ActionTypeOptions; payload: ProductDataTypes; };
type BasketState = ProductDataTypes[];
function basketReducer(state: BasketState, action: BasketAction) { const { type, payload } = action; switch (type) { case ActionTypeOptions.ADD: return [...state, { ...payload }];
case ActionTypeOptions.REMOVE: const filteredState: ProductDataTypes[] = state.filter( (product) => product.id !== payload.id ); return filteredState; case ActionTypeOptions.REMOVE_ALL: const emptyState: ProductDataTypes[] = []; return emptyState; default: return state;
} }
export default basketReducer;
``` function ProductCard({ product }: { product: ProductDataTypes }) { const [state, dispatch] = useReducer(basketReducer, []); return (

); }
export default ProductCard;
``` function ProductsContainer() { return (
{productData.map((product) => ( ))}
); }
export default ProductsContainer;
2023.06.03 15:52 Kinkymango0711 Triforce rush feels absolutely awesome to play with.
Like i posted yesterday, i just picked up kindred again and ive played probably 20 games with them. 10 of them crit and 10 with trinity.
Needless to say i cant win for the life of me going full crit.
Triforce > Collector > Cleaver > Wits End > Titanic Hydra or if behind ill skip collector and go BOTRK or BT last. Trinity is such a huge power spike and the build path is perfect for the early game too. Im also just super familiar with this build since its exactly what i build on Viego as well so i know when the biggest power spikes are. (Different playstyles obviously but damage output is very similar)
My crit build has been Stormrazor or Shiv (since shiv got buffed) , collector, Galeforce, Rapidfire Cannon, BT or GA. Ive won like 1/9 games like this lol.
Now i have to figure out how to best get marks from champs. In bronze its hard to go into an enemy jg and get their gromp without getting blown up so i try to use champions and tend to end games with 6 or 7 marks. How do you efficiently use your champ marks? Do you click it right before going in for a gank so its an assured assit?.
2023.06.03 15:50 myscalperfx Top 4 Strategies for Position Trading
Top 4 Strategies for Position Trading
Features of a Position Trader
Successful position traders often exhibit unique characteristics that set them apart from other types of traders. Some of the key features are:
  • Patience: Position trading demands patience as traders wait for opportunities to arise and positions to develop over weeks, months, or years. Remaining calm and focused during market uncertainty is essential.
  • Discipline: Position traders must maintain discipline in their approach. This includes sticking to their trading plan, managing their risk effectively, and resisting the urge to exit their positions prematurely.
  • Long-Term Focus: Successful position traders concentrate on overall market direction, not short-term price movements, enabling them to identify opportunities that short-term traders might overlook.
  • Strong Fundamental Analysis Skills: Since fundamental factors often drive long-term trends, exceptional fundamental analysis skills are crucial for gauging where the market may be headed next.
Positional Trading Strategies
Now that we have an overview of position trading let’s examine four effective positional trading strategies.
1. Support and Resistance Trading
2. Breakout Trading
3. Pullback Trading
4. Triple Moving Averages
2023.06.03 15:48 zmwright87 Holes in roof after new siding question 🙋‍♂️ homeowner
Had my siding contractor install new vinyl siding. I noticed when I walked up my hill that their were suspicious dots on top of the roof. Looks like the contractor used scaffolding to anchor them selves onto the roof and instead of putting it other the shingles he put it on top. I confronted the sider and had said this was “standard” for siding. He said he would do more damage peeling the shingles back since they were so glued together. I told him I was unhappy with this and looked for quotes from roofers. A roofer told me it would be $600 minimum to fix the shingles. Any thoughts on this? should this have been discussed with the customer before nailing thru existing shingles? Am I going to have leaks in the next 20 years from this? Already paid the contractor in full and he knows my concerns now via email.
2023.06.03 15:47 TheKattauRegion True- nervous, very, very dreadfully nervous I had been and am, but why will you say that I am mad?
hell, so how, then, am I mad… hearken, and observe how healthily — how calmly I can tell you the whole story, though it is impossible to say how first the idea entered my brain, but once conceived, it haunted me day and night- object there was none, passion there was none- I loved the old man, for he had never wronged me, nor had he ever given me insult, so for his gold I had no desire- I think it was his eye, yes, it was this: one of his eyes resembled that of a vulture — a pale blue eye, with a film over it, and whenever it fell upon me, my blood ran cold; and so by degrees — very gradually — I made up my mind to take the life of the old man, and thus rid myself of the eye forever, but now this is the point- you fancy me mad, and madmen know nothing, but you should have seen me — you should have seen how wisely I proceeded — with what caution — with what foresight — with what dissimulation I went to work, and I must say, I was never kinder to the old man than during the whole week before I killed him, and every night, about midnight, I turned the latch of his door and opened it — oh, so gently — and then, when I had made an opening sufficient for my head, I put in a dark lantern, all closed, closed, so that no light shone out, and then I thrust in my head, and oh, you would have laughed to see how cunningly I thrust it in, for I moved it slowly — very, very slowly, so that I might not disturb the old man’s sleep, and so, it took me an hour to place my whole head within the opening so far that I could see him as he lay upon his bed — would a madman have been so wise as this, I think not — and then, when my head was well in the room, I undid the lantern cautiously — oh, so cautiously — cautiously (for the hinges creaked) — I undid it just so much that a single thin ray fell upon the vulture eye, and this I did for seven long nights — every night just at midnight — but I found the eye always closed, and so it was impossible to do the work, for it was not the old man who vexed me, but his Evil Eye, and every morning, when the day broke, I went boldly into the chamber, and spoke courageously to him, calling him by name in a hearty tone, and inquiring how he had passed the night, so you see, he would have been a very profound old man, indeed, to suspect that every night, just at twelve, I looked in upon him while he slept, but upon the eighth night I was more than usually cautious in opening the door, so much so that a watch’s minute hand moves more quickly than did mine, but never before that night had I felt the extent of my own powers — of my sagacity, so much I could scarcely contain my feelings of triumph, to think that there I was, opening the door, little by little, and he not even to dream of my secret deeds or thoughts, and I fairly chuckled at the idea, and perhaps he heard me, for he moved on the bed suddenly, as if startled, and you now you may think that I drew back — but no, his room was as black as pitch with the thick darkness, (for the shutters were close fastened, through fear of robbers,) and so I knew that he could not see the opening of the door, and I kept pushing it on steadily, steadily, until I had my head in, and was about to open the lantern, when my thumb slipped upon the tin fastening, and the old man sprang up in the bed, crying out — “Who’s there?”, so I kept quite still and said nothing, and for a whole hour I did not move a muscle, and in the meantime I did not hear him lie down, so he was still sitting up in the bed listening — just as I have done, night after night, hearkening to the death watches in the wall, and presently I heard a slight groan, and I knew it was the groan of mortal terror, as it was not a groan of pain or of grief — oh, no — it was the low stifled sound that arises from the bottom of the soul when overcharged with awe, as I knew the sound well, because many a night, just at midnight, when all the world slept, it has welled up from my own bosom, deepening, with its dreadful echo, the terrors that distracted me, so I say I knew it well, and I knew what the old man felt, and pitied him, although I chuckled at heart, and I knew that he had been lying awake ever since the first slight noise, when he had turned in the bed, and his fears had been ever since growing upon him, and he had been trying to fancy them causeless, but could not, and he had been saying to himself — “It is nothing but the wind in the chimney — it is only a mouse crossing the floor,” or “it is merely a cricket which has made a single chirp,” yes, he has been trying to comfort himself with these suppositions, but he had found all in vain, because Death, in approaching him had stalked with his black shadow before him, and enveloped the victim, and it was the mournful influence of the unperceived shadow that caused him to feel — although he neither saw nor heard — to feel the presence of my head within the room, and when I had waited a long time, very patiently, without hearing him lie down, I resolved to open a little — a very, very little crevice in the lantern, so I opened it — you cannot imagine how stealthily, stealthily — until, at length a single dim ray, like the thread of the spider, shot from out the crevice and fell upon the vulture eye, which was open — wide, wide open — and I grew furious as I gazed upon it, and I saw it with perfect distinctness — all a dull blue, with a hideous veil over it that chilled the very marrow in my bones, but I could see nothing else of the old man’s face or person, for I had directed the ray as if by instinct, precisely upon the damned spot — and now, have I not told you that what you mistake for madness is but over acuteness of the senses — now, I say, there came to my ears a low, dull, quick sound, such as a watch makes when enveloped in cotton, but I knew that sound well, too — It was the beating of the old man’s heart, and it increased my fury, as the beating of a drum stimulates the soldier into courage, but even yet I refrained and kept still — I scarcely breathed, I held the lantern motionless, and I tried how steadily I could maintain the ray upon the eye, but in the meantime, the hellish tattoo of the heart increased — it grew quicker and quicker, and louder and louder every instant, and the old man’s terror must have been extreme, for it grew louder, I say, louder every moment — do you mark me well, I have told you that I am nervous, so I am, and now at the dead hour of the night, amid the dreadful silence of that old house, so strange a noise as this excited me to uncontrollable terror, yet, for some minutes longer I refrained and stood still, but the beating grew louder, louder — I thought the heart must burst — louder, and now a new anxiety seized me — the sound would be heard by a neighbor — so I decided, the old man’s hour had come, and with a loud yell, I threw open the lantern and leaped into the room, and he shrieked once — once only, for in an instant I dragged him to the floor, and pulled the heavy bed over him, then smiled gaily, to find the deed so far done, but, for many minutes, the heart beat on with a muffled sound, but this, however, did not vex me, it would not be heard through the wall, and at length, it ceased — the old man was dead, at last — I removed the bed and examined the corpse, and yes, he was stone, stone dead, and I placed my hand upon the heart and held it there many minutes, and yes, there was no pulsation, for be was stone dead — his eye would trouble me no more, and if still you think me mad, you will think so no longer when I describe the wise precautions I took for the concealment of the body — the night waned, and I worked hastily, but in silence — first of all I dismembered the corpse by cutting off the head and the arms and the legs, and I then took up three planks from the flooring of the chamber, and deposited all between the scantlings, then replaced the boards so cleverly, so cunningly, that no human eye — not even his — could have detected any thing wrong, and there was nothing to wash out — no stain of any kind — no blood-spot whatever, for I had been too wary for that — a tub had caught all — ha — and when I had made an end of these labors, it was four o ‘clock — still dark as midnight, but as the bell sounded the hour, there came a knocking at the street door, and I went down to open it with a light heart, — for what had I now to fear — but there entered three men, who introduced themselves, with perfect suavity, as officers of the police, for a shriek had been heard by a neighbor during the night, for suspicion of foul play had been aroused, and information had been lodged at the police office, and they (the officers) had been deputed to search the premises, and I smiled, — for what had I to fear — I bade the gentlemen welcome, and the shriek, I said, was my own in a dream, and the old man, I mentioned, was absent in the country, and I took my visitors all over the house and bade them search — search well — and led them, at length, to his chamber, then showed them his treasures, secure, undisturbed, and in the enthusiasm of my confidence, I brought chairs into the room, and desired them here to rest from their fatigues, while I myself, in the wild audacity of my perfect triumph, placed my own seat upon the very spot beneath which reposed the corpse of the victim, and the officers were satisfied, for my manner had convinced them — I was singularly at ease as they sat, and while I answered cheerily, they chatted of familiar things, but, ere long, I felt myself getting pale and wished them gone, and my head ached, I fancied a ringing in my ears, but still they sat and still chatted while the ringing became more distinct — it continued and became more distinct — I talked more freely to get rid of the feeling, but it continued and gained definitiveness — until, at length, I found that the noise was not within my ears, no doubt I now grew very pale — but I talked more fluently, and with a heightened voice, yet the sound increased — and what could I do, for it was a low, dull, quick sound — much such a sound as a watch makes when enveloped in cotton — I gasped for breath — and yet the officers heard it not, and I talked more quickly — more vehemently, but the noise steadily increased, and I arose and argued about trifles, in a high key and with violent gesticulations, but the noise steadily increased, and why would they not be gone, I thought, and paced the floor to and fro with heavy strides, as if excited to fury by the observations of the men — but the noise steadily increased— oh God — what could I do, as I foamed — I raved — I swore — I swung the chair upon which I had been sitting, and grated it upon the boards, but the noise arose over all and continually increased — it grew louder — louder — louder — and still the men chatted pleasantly and smiled — was it possible they heard not, Almighty God, no, no — they heard — they suspected — they knew — they were making a mockery of my horror — this I thought, and this I think, but anything was better than this agony — anything was more tolerable than this derision — I could bear those hypocritical smiles no longer, I felt that I must scream or die — and now — again — hark — louder — louder — louder — louder — and “Villains!” I shrieked, “dissemble no more, for I admit the deed — tear up the planks — here, here — it is the beating of his hideous heart!”
2023.06.03 15:47 _Stunami No Carfax yet Dealership Knew of Accident - California, USA
I was so close to buying a certified pre-owned BMW from the dealership near where I live and after all was said and done, hours of being there, credit check, etc., and I am about to walk out the door, the lead sales guy comes over and says "Oh, for the sake of full disclosure, I just thought you should know that the car has been in what I thought was a slight accident." What? I was shocked and said this could change everything. And it did as I did not buy the 2020 X1 for ~35k. I asked why there was no accident on the car fax and why they didn't tell me sooner. Sales guy said he thought it was a mere bumper replacement and so didn't warrant any mention and there was no carfax as BMWs own shop did all the work. I personally think BMW itself had the accident with the vehicle. They also told me it was hit in the rear and was a bumper replacement, totally false and another lie. They gave me a copy of the four page 13k work / 60 hrs (maybe 40, I'd have to look) that was done by their shop. Wow, And they swore it was a rear bumper, Turns out it was all front-end damage. Hood, struts, AC unit, etc. I called the repair shop and talked with the repair guy. he knew the car, etc. It just proved that it really was that bad. I have a friend/acquaintance that is a salesman at that dealership. He was on vacation hence I was not using him and this also made me hesitate to report this to the Better Business Bureau (BBB). Should I report this to the BBB? I mean, it is pretty egregious. Four pages! I read it three times. I have the evidence.
Also, I asked if they'd come down 3k as the car is definitely marked. They came down 1k and some lame extended warranty.
I very much wanted to think care sales people did not deserve the reputation they have gained. However, sadly, there is a reason for this reputation.
2023.06.03 15:47 socialmoth_ (Thinkpad T450S) Won't Turn On
I need help.
I just came back from a three-day trip. I left my T450s and although it was working fine when I left it, I can't seem to boot it up.
I'm not entirely sure why it isn't working. It wasn't plugged in when I left it, so I don't think it was a power surge while I was out; and all the same, I don't think it's low on power, because I shut it off at 80% before leaving.
When I do press the power button, these three keys flash for a second before turning back off. The power button remains illuminated, however.
It also makes a clicking sound when I press the power button, but not when I hold it down to shut it off.
I'd really appreciate any help I can get on this. I got the laptop a few weeks ago, and it was pretty much NoS.
2023.06.03 15:46 SAthrowway2301 Yelled at my son
A few days ago, my wife (F46) and I (M49) had to leave town for two days to visit her aunt (F78), who has been ill. We left my car (2023 Ford Mustang GT) at home. My son (M17) has driven the car, but only under my supervision, and isn't allowed to drive it if I'm not around.
After we came back we arrived home I went into the bathroom and my son told my wife that he had taken the car out with his friends and caused some damage it it while we were out of town.
When I came out, my wife told me what had happened and when I asked my son about it, he apologized and then added that the damage was "very light"
I felt very betrayed and went to check the car. It had bent wheel and damage to the bumper and headlight (much more severe that I expected). I went back inside the house and yelled at my son, expressing how he lied about the damage and called him an idiot as the damage clearly indicated he had been driving recklessly endangering himself and others.
In anger, I said
  1. My son was the least intelligent member of his friend group and that they took advantage of that.
  2. That he was basically a toddler and I would start having to hide items from him so he doesn't break them
  3. He would be paying for the damage
My son apologized again and didn't say much the rest of the day. That evening, my wife told me that I was being way too harsh and that he's upset. She suggested I talk to him more gently before bed so that he doesn't resent me. I replied that I've already said everything I wanted to say and that if she wants to talk to him, she can. She then expressed that my reaction has been disproportionate and how items can be fixed and lastly how "boys will be boys". Exhausted from the day, I went to bed without a real response to this.
The next day after my son came from school and I sat him down for a talk. I told him that I did not think he was an idiot, but reiterated that his actions that day were dumb. I then asked him to tell me what exactly happened, and I would remain silent the entire time he narrates.
He told me that 3 of friends came over to hang out. After a while they asked to check out the car. My son showed them the car and even started it up and revved it a few times for them (I'm totally fine with). One friend (Sam) suggest they go for a drive. While son did initially refuse they kept pestering him until he agreed.
After about 5 minutes, Sam then starts asks my son to start driving more aggressively and unfortunately my son agreed and ended up hitting a curb. After they came home, my son just put the car back in the garage and waited for us to come back home.
I also learned that Sam has been telling people at school to the point of during one class (which Sam is also in), when my son was using a computer the teacher said something like “Don't wreck it like you did your dad's car”.
Later, My wife told me that she thinks it's too harsh for our son to pay for the car's repairs. She said. It was my decision to buy an expensive car that would require expensive repairs and again how "boys will be boys". She then mentioned that while she does acknowledge what our son did was dumb, but said that it is perfectly normal for a kid his age to want to impress his friends. She did share my safety concerns but said that she trusts our son to not do anything too reckless and how the relatively minor damage shows this.
The day after that, I told my son before he went to school that he should consider ending his friendship with Sam. I also told him that I wanted to go talk to the teacher (his comment was uncalled for), but my son requested that I don't as it would be more embarrassing. I agreed not to, but told him that if the teacher did say something like that again I would have talk with him.
The main issue since then is my arguments with my wife. I have no patience for the "boys will be boys" mentality that she has brought up for a third time this yesterday morning. I told her that was not a valid excuse for anything and it is irresponsible for her to want our son, who is soon going to be going to university in another city, to have this way thinking. To me its dangerous.
She told me that I'm overreacting and have blown this whole thing out of proportion. She also mentioned how we can't micromanage him and again that boys "do stuff" and that we can't keep track of every little thing he does. I told her even if we can't track every little thing he does, he'll be held accountable. Either by us or society. She is became quite upset now saying that I'm being too controlling and that I'm using fear tactics. She also does not want my son to pay for the damages.
How to Build an Impressive Resume in 2023: Tips and Tricks
Building an impressive resume is a crucial step in securing your dream job. In today's competitive job market, having a well-crafted resume can make all the difference. A resume serves as your introduction to potential employers, highlighting your skills, qualifications, and experiences. In this article, we will provide you with valuable tips and tricks to help you create an outstanding resume that stands out from the crowd.
In the fast-paced world of 2023, the job search process has evolved significantly. Employers receive hundreds of resumes for each job opening, making it essential to make your application stand out. An impressive resume not only showcases your qualifications but also demonstrates your professionalism and suitability for the role. Let's dive into the key elements that will make your resume shine.
The Importance of a Well-Crafted Resume
A well-crafted resume is your ticket to securing job interviews. It acts as your personal marketing tool, presenting your skills, experiences, and achievements to potential employers. A compelling resume helps you make a positive first impression and sets you apart from other candidates. It should effectively communicate your qualifications and convince employers that you are the ideal fit for the role.
Understanding the Hiring Process in 2023
Before diving into resume building tips, it's crucial to understand the modern hiring process. Many companies now use applicant tracking systems (ATS) to streamline the screening process. ATS scans resumes for specific keywords and filters out those that don't meet the criteria. Therefore, tailoring your resume to match the job description is essential to increase your chances of getting noticed.
Key Elements of an Impressive Resume
  1. Contact Information: Include your name, phone number, email address, and LinkedIn profile (if applicable). Make sure your contact details are up to date and easily accessible.
  2. Professional Summary/Objective: Craft a concise and impactful summary that highlights your key qualifications and career goals.
  3. Work Experience: List your previous work experience in reverse chronological order, emphasizing relevant positions and achievements.
  4. Education: Mention your educational background, including degrees, certifications, and relevant coursework.
  5. Skills: Showcase your relevant skills, both technical and soft, that align with the job requirements.
  6. Achievements and Awards: Highlight any notable achievements or awards that demonstrate your capabilities and dedication.
  7. Certifications and Training: Include any certifications or training programs that enhance your qualifications for the desired role.
  8. References: Optionally provide references or state that they are available upon request.
Formatting and Design Tips
To make your resume visually appealing and easy to read, consider the following tips:
  1. Choose a Clean and Professional Layout: Opt for a simple and modern layout that allows your content to stand out.
  2. Use Appropriate Fonts and Font Sizes: Stick to standard fonts like Arial, Calibri, or Times New Roman in a readable size (10-12 points).
  3. Organize Sections with Headings and Subheadings: Use clear headings and subheadings to divide your resume into easily navigable sections.
  4. Utilize Bulleted Lists and Consistent Formatting: Use bullet points to highlight key responsibilities and achievements. Maintain consistent formatting throughout your resume.
Tailoring Your Resume to the Job
Each job application is unique, and tailoring your resume to match the specific requirements is crucial. Analyze the job description and identify the key skills, experiences, and qualifications the employer is seeking. Then, customize your resume to emphasize the most relevant information that aligns with the job requirements. This will demonstrate your suitability and increase your chances of being selected for an interview.
Keywords and ATS Optimization
In today's digital age, keywords play a vital role in resume optimization. Here are some tips to ensure your resume gets past the ATS:
  1. Research Industry-Specific Keywords: Identify relevant keywords by researching the industry and job position you're targeting.
  2. Incorporate Keywords Throughout Your Resume: Integrate these keywords naturally into your resume's content, including the summary, skills, and work experience sections.
  3. Understanding Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS): Familiarize yourself with how ATS works and how it scans and filters resumes.
  4. Formatting Your Resume for ATS Compatibility: Use standard fonts, avoid graphics or complex formatting, and save your resume in a compatible file format (e.g., PDF or Word) to ensure proper parsing by ATS.
Showcasing Achievements and Results
To make your resume more impactful, focus on highlighting your achievements and results:
  1. Quantify Your Accomplishments: Whenever possible, use numbers, percentages, or other quantifiable metrics to showcase your accomplishments.
  2. Focus on Impact and Results: Describe how your actions and contributions made a positive impact on previous employers or projects.
  3. Use Action Verbs to Describe Responsibilities: Begin bullet points with action verbs to convey your responsibilities and achievements more effectively.
Highlighting Transferable Skills
Transferable skills are valuable assets that can be applied across various roles and industries. Emphasize your transferable skills to demonstrate your versatility and adaptability. Skills like communication, problem-solving, teamwork, and leadership are highly sought after by employers.
Proofreading and Editing
To ensure your resume is error-free and professional:
  1. Proofread Carefully: Check for grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors. Read your resume aloud or ask someone else to review it for you.
  2. Edit for Clarity and Conciseness: Eliminate any unnecessary or repetitive information and focus on conveying your qualifications concisely.
Seeking Feedback and Professional Assistance
Getting feedback from others can provide valuable insights into areas for improvement. Share your resume with trusted friends, mentors, or professionals in your field to gather feedback and suggestions for enhancement. Additionally, consider seeking assistance from professional resume writers who specialize in crafting compelling resumes.
  1. Should I include a cover letter along with my resume? Including a cover letter is recommended as it allows you to introduce yourself and express your interest in the position. It provides an opportunity to highlight specific qualifications and tailor your application to the company's needs.
  2. Is it necessary to limit my resume to one page? While it's ideal to keep your resume concise, there's no strict rule about limiting it to one page. Focus on including relevant information and ensuring readability. If you have extensive experience or qualifications, a two-page resume may be acceptable.
  3. Should I include references on my resume? Unless specifically requested, it's not necessary to include references on your resume. Instead, mention that references are available upon request. Be prepared to provide references when requested during the later stages of the hiring process.
  4. Can I use a creative or unconventional resume format? While creative formats can be eye-catching, it's essential to strike a balance between creativity and professionalism. If you're applying for a creative role, a unique format may be more suitable. However, for most industries, it's best to stick to a clean and professional format that prioritizes clarity and readability.
  5. How often should I update my resume? It's a good practice to update your resume regularly, especially when you acquire new skills, complete significant projects, or change job positions. Keeping your resume up to date ensures that you're prepared for new opportunities that may arise at any time.
2023.06.03 15:45 No_Hovercrafts The 17-limit is amazing
In my opinion intervals with the ratio of 17 are hugely underrated, probably because popular tunings like 31EDO don't do justice to them. I think that introducing ratios of 17 makes the ratios of 11 much more intelligible, since 17/11 is such an effective interval. At the minute the 17/11 major fifth is probably one of my favourite intervals. Many 17-limit chords just sound so stable that I just want to leave them indefinitely without resolving them anywhere, for example this%0A(bpm%3A5)%0A%0A%5B1%2F1%2C_11%2F9%2C_14%2F9%2C_17%2F9%5D). I created some examples of 17-limit chord progressions to give a flavour of what's possible - surprisingly, it's effective to resolve a major or minor triad into a 17-limit chord.
2023.06.03 15:45 vikas12_12 Understanding Self-Defence Laws in India (Lawyer's Perspective)
Hello, everyone! As a lawyer practicing in the Delhi High Court and working in a law firm, I've received numerous dms after my last post in Delhi regarding self-defence laws in India and how individuals can protect themselves in threatening situations. In this post, I'll provide a brief overview of the key points to keep in mind.
Under Indian law, individuals have the right to defend themselves when faced with imminent danger or threat. This right is recognized under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and other relevant laws. Keeping this short, here are some points to keep in mind : -
Now, let's discuss the commonly asked question: "When can we kill someone in self-defence?" In order to justify such extreme action, the following conditions must exist:
It's important to note that the above conditions serve as guidelines, and each case is different!! I have so much to write about but reddit....well if you have any specific questions or if there's a particular topic you'd like me to address in a concise manner, please let me know! I'm more than happy to provide further information. :)
1. Roulette: This is a classic! You place a bet on one of three colors: black, red, or green. Black and red have a 50% chance, but if you're feeling lucky, go for green with a 14x payout. This is the bread and butter of CSGO gambling sites, and it doesn't get old!
2. Crash: Now, this one's a thrill ride! You bet your skins, and watch as a multiplier increases from 1x upwards. It's all about timing – you need to cash out before the "crash". The higher the multiplier before the crash, the more you win. But be warned, it's addictive and can get your adrenaline pumping like nothing else!
3. Dice: Who doesn't love a good dice roll? Just set a number and predict whether the roll will be over or under that number. Simple, but don't let that fool you. It's a game of strategy and nerves, my friend.
4. Case Opening: You ever wanted to open a ton of cases but didn't want to shell out the cash for keys? Case opening on CSGORoll lets you do just that. You could get lucky and snag a sick skin for a fraction of the price!
5. Coinflip: Heads or tails? Choose your side in this 50/50 game. Winner takes all. A quick, fun way to double your skins if Lady Luck is smiling at you.
Remember, the whole point is to have fun. Play responsibly, manage your bankroll, and don't chase losses. It's all about the thrill of the game.
Good luck, and may the odds be ever in your favor!
