2023.03.26 21:25 IAmAMerlin 12 full days of no gaming

Hey guys, 12 days and a 1PM day start. Why? Because german "Sommerzeit" led my brain to saying this is fine if you take one more out because they took it from you.
How was this day? Well realizing it is me why I can not get up out of bed I thought a bit about this and it made my day a bit moody. So i went back and forth on what I should do and what I am doing. I realized again that my early actions of the day set the tone for the entire day.
I had a long talk with my best friend and we exchanged progress on our bachelor theses. Also we talked about private stuff. Went on for around 2 hours. Was a good talk. Made a few things for both of us clear in what each one of us faces right now and how we can improve from that point on forwards.
Something that crossed my mind today was my personal look onto anxiety and fear. I always see this as something to avoid at any cost. But the truth is that there is no chance to get 100% safety.
From there I found a few things to do that help to get more safety: - do a calendar and threat it as your friend (yes a bit of JP talking to me) - If you know what you want then you can make a plan to get it. Solutions lie in the uncertainty of moving towards a goal. Every obstacle is an opportunity. - if you worry about what you could have done different in the past, ask yourself what you can do now to make it better. Moving forward is not something you can clearly achieve. It is something you only get when you look back on a better past. Which you only get if you put your act together and start fixing problems instead of sulking about never coming back time.
This is something that really pushed me today to get some work in on the problem I should focus on. The last days I was always drifting from problem to problem without realizing that I have one major problem that makes me feel so unsafe.
It is my Bachelorthesis. The topic is very well made for my kind of interests but I do have the feeling it is too much to handle for the time I have left. This feeling accumulated because I am behind schedule in terms "handing in deadline". So I decided to put all my problems that need fixing as well away for now and only work on my thesis until it is done.
So no more working on moving, improving my notetaking/workflow in obsidian, worrying about my life dream thinking about how I can improve my food and so on...
I will keep you guys updated on how it goes.
Stuff I did today: - had a long talk with my best friend about how our stuff is going - finished work on how to create a submodel for a digital twin - started identifying all different parts needed to create a submodel according to the standards in place
Food I ate today: - Breakfast: 4 eggs + chicken + one cup of cocoa with caffeine - Lunch: 1000ml of cocoa with caffeine (I drank all of this over the day) - Dinner: Chicken-Döner
While I will keep working for a little while longer. I wish you all a very good night and keep your hands of from gaming.

2023.03.26 21:25 AshSmashBashDash LPT - When a phone salesman calls and you answer, simply say in a positive tone of voice that it’s a bad time now/you’re in a meeting right now and ask if they can call back in 10 minutes. They will happily hang up without arguing. Once they hang up you block their number.

For you, as well as for the salesman, this will cost the least amount of energy. No one gets mad, time isn’t spent on a disinterested person, no adrenaline, no arguing. It’s just smooth.

2023.03.26 21:24 Ragtime-Rochelle My big sister told the school counsellor our Dad was beating us. I didn't stick up for her and the investigation was closed. He continued to get drunk, spank us with a belt and hit me, my sister and Mom. I fucked up guys.

My Dad was a mean drunk who used to spank us for playing too loud when he was hung over. He would scream right in our faces until his voice was hoarse. He'd punch holes in the walls. I slept on a foldup be in a storage room while he drank a full bottle of whisky (at least) every day and spent all out money in the club. I shudder to think the amount of times I got in the car with him.
My big sister protected me from his abuse and even took my spanking for me when I was playing too loud one morning.
One day my sister told the school counsellor what our dad was doing and an investigation was opened and I was mad at her. We all were. I was scared that we could be taken away or that I'd never see Dad again (as crazy as it sounds). When I was questioned I lied and the case was closed.
It haunts me to this day to think what could have been if I'd spoken up. We could have been removed from that toxic environment and had happy childhoods. We might even be like those sisters that are really close. We never hardly speak anymore, we don't even see each other or speak at Christmas. She now has 3 kids she doesn't have custody over and is addicted to opiates and alcohol, likely trauma from the abuse.
I tried to reconnect but we're in our late 20s now and too much time has passed. Too much has happened since.
Tbf, I was 7 and that's a lot to put on a small child. Really another responsible adult should have stepped in:
Still tho. There was quite a large window for me to do something and I blew it. It's fucking me up and making me depressed.
Does anyone else have a story like this or am I just an idiot? I can't find any stories like this.

2023.03.26 21:22 QuietHungry2181 Is it normal for guys to feel anxious and scared prior to proposing?

My boyfriend recently designed and purchased an engagement ring (it’s sitting in a box right now in his office) and he’s dropped a million hints about proposing on our next vacation. We have a very transparent relationship which I appreciate. He’s recently voiced that he’s feeling really anxious about the proposal, but it has nothing to do with me or our relationship. He told me that “it’s a guy thing.” I appreciate the honesty, it’s just crazy because I’m so excited about it!! Is this really normal for a guy?

2023.03.26 21:22 eliseofnohr Ishmael's identity

I've seen a lot of theorizing about Ishmael's true identity and frankly, I do have some questions myself. Pretty much every other Sinner does in fact seem very similar personality-wise to their literary counterpart(except maybe Rodion?) but Ishmael in the book is kind of a total flaky weirdo, prone more to introspection than sarcasm. Though he's also sort of just the eyes and voice of the narrative? Anyway, I make whale facts jokes constantly but Ishmael definitely isn't as similar to book!Ishmael as a lot of the others are to their counterparts. And of course, Ishmael throws doubt on their identity in both ones from the start, saying only 'call me Ishmael'.
But the thing is? She's not that much like Ahab either. Our Ishmael is practical, snarky, and down-to-earth. Ahab is a fanatic. Even when she's fully in going after 'that bastard' mode, she doesn't quite show the same foaming-at-the-mouth batshit insanity that Ahab does in the book and that makes Ahab so cool.
You know who Ishmael does act like?
For people who haven't read Moby Dick, Starbuck is the First Mate of the Pequod and arguably the sanest person on board. He's a businesslike guy who focuses on whaling as a business, and while he takes incredible risks like everyone else he's notably more cautious than the others, insisting that he will have no man in a boat who isn't afraid of a whale and being referred to as 'as careful a man as any you'll find in this fishery'. When Ahab makes his speech about intending to hunt and kill Moby Dick, Starbuck is the only one in the crew who speaks up against it:
“I am game for his crooked jaw, and for the jaws of Death too, Captain Ahab, if it fairly comes in the way of the business we follow; but I came here to hunt whales, not my commander’s vengeance. How many barrels will thy vengeance yield thee even if thou gettest it, Captain Ahab? it will not fetch thee much in our Nantucket market.”
Starbuck is pretty much the only one throughout the book who recognizes how insane Ahab is and wants to stop the cursed journey. At one point, he is tempted to kill Ahab, but turns away from it. He repeatedly directly begs Ahab to stop the hunt, but is never successful. In the climax, Ahab goes out to directly do combat with Moby-Dick, leaving Starbuck in charge of the Pequod, which is then destroyed by the whale, killing everyone on board just as Starbuck predicted. Ishmael is the only survivor.
I was originally just into this as a 'this is a cool theory' but the more I'm explaining it the more I kind of believe it. Starbuck, who was closest to Ahab and most betrayed by him, definitely has a lot of reason to want him dead-more than Ishmael, arguably. Her personality also matches up with him much better than it does with Ahab's or Ishmael's. If the theory goes that Limbus Ishmael's 'call me Ishmael' is in fact a pseudonym, Starbuck would probably be my first choice to be the one to be the real 'Ishmael'.
I wouldn't say I'm totally sold on this, but I feel like while the Ahab theory is on the table we should put this one out there too.

2023.03.26 21:21 blackoblivian Should Amazon fix the Rebuilds?

In my humble opinion, the Rebuild of Evangelion franchise was absolutely butchered on Amazon Prime. The voice acting for the dub is terrible, and sometimes, the aspect ratio changes from widescreen to 4:3.

Do you guys think that Amazon should redo the dub by rewriting the script and re-recording the movie's voices? I honestly think that they should, it would make the Rebuilds a whole lot better on Amazon.

I'm looking for someone to chat with or voice call with frequently or semi-frequently. Someone chill, open minded and understanding. We could play some PC games, watch anime/shows/movies together or just talk about life. It doesn't even have to be that serious. We can keep it shallow or attempt to go in deep. Don't mind at all if you're shy or awkward. No pressure to continue chatting if we're not connecting or vibing. I won't take it personally and I hope you won't either.
Please include some information about yourself when you message me

2023.03.26 21:21 BigDumbIdiot43 Are there any mods that add mercenary companions?

I like the regular companions don’t get me wrong, but I liked how in Skyrim you could walk into a bar, hire some random merc, and when you were done with them they return to wherever you hired them. I don’t need a special, voiced NPC, just some random gun for hire. Also, please no anime girls.

[Get] Dan Koe – Digital Economics Masters Degree Full Course Download
Get the course here: https://www.genkicourses.com/product/dan-koe-digital-economics-masters-degree/ Dan Koe – Digital Economics Masters Degree
What You Get Phase 0) Digital Economics 101 The Digital Economics 101 module will open 1 week prior to the cohort start date. This is an onboarding module that will get you up to speed so we can get straight into the material. This will be required to finish before the start date.
  • Gain a deep understanding of all of the pieces in the digital economy.
  • Learn about the future of media and code — the front-end and backend of the internet — so you can focus your efforts.
  • Understand digital leverage, distribution, no-code tools, and digital assets so you can take part in the mental & financial wealth transfer.
Phase 1) Creating A Meaningful Niche Every day I hear people going on and on about trying to find their niche.I also hear people talking about how they don’t know how to combine what they love talking about with *what will sell.*You already have the answer. You just don’t have the clarity.
  • Develop a long-term strategy to create your own niche — meaning you don’t have to worry about your “competition” playing status games.
  • Discover your life’s work, curiosities, and obsessions. I see too many people that are uncertain about this for years.
  • Cultivate and turn your vision, goals, and values into a brand that attracts an audience you love interacting with (and that will buy from you, and only you).
Phase 2) Content Strategy There is one thing that separates those who make it in the digital economy and those who don’t.It’s the quality, articulation, and perceived originality of their content. The content you post has to make sense to the people you attract.Everyone has a different voice and tone that they resonate with. **That they are congruent with and trust.**It has to change their thought patterns or behavior — that’s what makes you memorable. That’s what separates you from the sea of people posting surface-level copy-cat style posts.Example and putting my money where my mouth is:
  • Become an expert-level speaker or writer on the topics you care about.
  • Never run out of content ideas for your posts or promotions (without using content templates — that’s how you stay a commodity).
  • Create posts, blogs, tweets, images, and videos that resonate with other’s on a deep level. People will actually ask you how you got so good at what you do.
  • Separate yourself from the ocean of B-tier creators that struggle to sell their products, services, andhave their ideas stick in the head of their audience.
  • Implement our Epistemic Research Method — which is just a fancy way of saying scientific research method… but it’s for researching your mind to craft brilliant content and product ideas.
Phase 3) Crafting Your Offer Most people are sitting on a goldmine of skills, experience, and knowledge (that they can use to help people 1-2 steps behind them). That is what people pay for.Considering 95% of the market are beginners… if you are good at something, you can help them get to your level (no matter how “basic” you think the information is).Do you not watch basic content all day anyway? People don’t want new information, they want to be reminded of what works.
  • Use our Minimum Viable Offer strategy to start monetizing immediately (and have something to improve over time, rather than procrastinating until it’s perfect).
  • Have a strategy for reducing the time you spend working over time (as you build leverage and improve your offer).
  • Know how to create your own customers from the audience you are building, instead of “finding” the right customer for your offer.
  • Take the guesswork out of building coaching, consulting, or digital product offers.
Phase 4) Marketing Strategy You aren’t making money because you aren’t promoting yourself or your offer. That is literally the only way to make money. Have something desirable and consistently put it in front of peoples’ faces. In Phase 4, I will show you how to systemize, automate, and be consistent with simple will be able to make money without having the chance of forgetting to do it (or letting fear of failure get in the way).
  • Learn to sell on social media, in your writing, and across different platforms.
  • Have consistent sales coming in while focusing on your meaningful message (no need to sound salesy all the time).
  • Learn advanced automation strategies that you can implement at your own pace, especially once you validate your offer.
Bonus) The Creator Command Center The Creator Command Center is a Notion template that houses all of the systems. This is how you will manage your brand, content, offer creation, marketing strategy, and systemized promotions for consistent sales. Bonus) Live Product Build & Launch In the first Digital Economics Cohort, I built out my course The 2 Hour Writer.I have videos showing how I build it with the strategies in phase 3 and 4.There is a bonus module that shows how I had an $85,000 launch that resulted in my first $100K month.I did this to prove the strategies inside Digital Economics work if you stick to the plan.***And, this past Black Friday, I blew my that monthly high out of the water in 4 days.***That’s the power of these strategies if you stay consistent with your life’s work.

Additionally, my parents took out a $25,000 loan to help pay for my degree. Day 1 Tuesday:
5:30 am: I wake up but decide its too cold to go outside and that morning workout will happen tonight.
7:00 am: Finally get up and reheat homemade refried beans for breakfast (savory breakfast ftw) and read. I fall asleep for 30 minutes (I call these morning naps) and barely have enough time to shower before therapy. I have a $20 copay. (Included in monthly expenses)
10:00 am: walk to the office. I settle into work with all the free beverages.
1:00 pm: I put together a desk salad from stuff I brought from home and eat while watching a webinar.
5:30 pm: I walk to cvs on my way home and buy dishwasher pods. (**$10 for my half)**I get two since they are buy one get one. I realize in the CVS that I forgot to bring a hair tie but I don’t want to buy a new pack just for one. I text my friend who lives nearby and go to her apartment.
6:30 pm: I visit for a while and then walk over to the pool. There is no entrance fee since it’s a public facility.
7:45 pm: I’m out and showered and realize if I hustle I can make it for at least half of weekly trivia. I call an Uber. ($11). At trivia I just get a club soda even though I really want a sandwich and fries. ($5 for soda water+tip). We win! I forgo the free celebratory shot bc school night+empty/exercised stomach.
9:00 pm: My friend drives me home and we catch up in the alley behind my apartment. My roommate offers some soup that he made but its not enough and I end up eating more refried beans.
10:00 pm: I read 3 pages of a book before falling asleep with my kindle in my hand.

Day 2 Wednesday
5:45 am: Wake up, brush teeth, choke down some apple sauce and I’m out the door for a workout. I come back home to shower, change, and bike to meet 2 friends for coffee/breakfast near my office.
8:00 am: By far the best part of living in a city is having friends in close proximity. I get a bagel sandwich and a black coffee ($11.84). I come into work and book some misc. work travel. I have a bit of a crisis that I don’t have any practical luggage for work travel. I look at Kate Spade, Everlane, Dagne Dover, Lululemon for weekender bags. I have pretty impulsive spending tendencies but am on a big anti-lifestyle creep campaign right now.
1:00 pm: Office has pizza in recognition of March Madness. I get a slice to supplement the salad I brought from home. The pizza isn’t great which I make a big mental note for next time.
3:00 pm: I hit the wall and all I want to do is browse!!!
5:30 pm: I take the train to meet my friend for dinner close to her office. I have to reload my transit card. ($20). We get burgers and then she drives me home. ($15)
1:00 am: I can’t fall asleep which is pretty rare for me.
Day 3 Thursday
7:00 am: I sleep in and make breakfast at home. I’m stressed about work deliverables so I quickly take a shower and bike to work. At my desk by 8 AM.
1:00 pm: It's a really nice day out so I bring the salad I brought from home to the public park near my office and eat there. I bring my laptop in case something comes up but take a half hour after eating to read on my kindle. I finish my book and am tempted to buy the next in the series, but instead, I’ll just wait for my turn through the public library.
5:00 pm: I would love to work a bit longer but have hit a wall and am useless. I go downstairs and do a 30-minute ride on the office gym peloton and then do a pretty basic core routine. Despite exercising a lot, I’m pretty weak and lack a ton of core strength so these cross-training sessions are important. I used to do a lot of studio fitness but found the energy to not be my vibe and many instructors to be rude and dismissive.
6:00 pm: As I’m heading out, I run into a friend who is also leaving his office. I haven’t seen him in a while and it's a great surprise! He lives close to my neighborhood so we walk together.
6:30 pm: I shower because I’m meeting some friends at a drag show tonight. I’m exhausted and want to skip. I make some eggs and then go take a nap.
9:00 pm: I take the bus over to the bar and meet my friends. There aren’t a ton of women there but it’s a nice vibe. My friend buys me a drink since he knows how hard it was for me to commit to late-night plans, and also has a ton of singles so we can tip the queens. I run into a woman whom I’ve seen before, and she asks if we want to get coffee. I get the impression that she wants to be friends (lesbian problems!!!).
11:00 pm: I mooch on my friend's uber and walk home. I text my friend's boyfriend to split the Uber but he said don’t worry about it.
Day 4 Friday
8:00 am: I sleep in after a later night. I take a shower and get ready for work. I wear the wrong jacket and am freezing. I enter the office and raid the shared fridge for yogurt and fruit.
1:00 pm: I’m only working a half day today because of some comp time I need to use up from last week. Normally I wouldn’t go into the office on a Friday but they are doing construction outside of my apartment and I know I would focus better outside of my home. The return to the office is completely voluntary and I prefer going in to working from home. At the same time, I would be pissed if my employer mandated office days.
2:00 pm: I get lunch at Chipotle ($14.03) before my waxing appointment. I get my eyebrows done next door. ($23 with a $10 tip). It's raining so I take the bus home.
3:30 I get a text from a family canceling a babysitting job for tonight. I'm really bummed but send some feelers out to try to get together with people. I'm thankful I don't depend on babysitting money anymore.
5:00 pm: I walk to a brewery nearby to meet some friends. I get two 5 oz beers and some appetizers for the table to split. My friend brings their mom which is fun. ($37.62). On my way out I got proper dinner to go ($22.07)
Day 5 Saturday
7:30 am: I have some friends running a race so I get up and meet my friends at a designated spot. We have speakers and cheer for everyone for several hours. I buy Starbucks egg bites and a coffee for me and a sandwich and coffee for a friend. I have to refill my app. ($25).
11:30 am: After the race, we meet up with everyone and go grab lunch. Someone else pays for the uber, and my friend's mom generously picks up the tab for lunch.
4:00 pm: I walk home with a friend but we stop at a grocery store so I can buy Rice Krispies, food coloring, and marshmallows for a treat I’m bringing to a party later tonight. ($13.36)
5:00 pm: I make the rice crispy treats as well as a bright green margarita for an st Patricks day party. I lie down for a few hours before the party.
8:00 pm: I take the bus over to my friend's house. I realize I didn’t eat a real dinner but convinced a few people to go in on a pizza. Another friend goes and picks it up. ($6 for my portion). I end up staying longer than planned and take an uber home. ($14.20)
Day 6 Sunday
9:30 am: A little hungover. I make breakfast and coffee but go back to bed.
2:00 pm: I finally decide it's time to be a real person. I get up and take the train uptown to the public pool.
4:00 pm: I swim for an hour and then head out. On my way to the train station, I get a tea ($4.26) which is objectively overpriced and ridiculous but hot herbal tea on a cold Sunday just hits.
5:00 There is some maintenance on the train and I have to wait for a shuttle or bus back to my place. I’m going out of town early this week and decide I’m not meal-prepping or cooking just for one day. There is a chipotle near the train station. As I’m walking over, I stopped by a woman asking for change. I have no cash but offer to buy her dinner. She gets a large sandwich combo ($23.11). She says that she is $20 short of a hotel room and asks if I can get money out of an ATM for her. I go to CVS where I also buy shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and deodorant. ($19.11) My card isn’t working with the ATM. I try to see if I can add my debit card to my apple wallet so I can get cash back from CVS for buying gum ($1.97) but it doesn’t work. I end up getting a $50 visa gift card. ($56.95 with activation fee). She is upset I wasn’t able to give her cash and yells at me. I hand over the stuff but just feel weird about the situation and our interaction.
6:00 pm: I ended up missing the bus and have to go a bit further than intended. I still haven’t grabbed dinner yet (rip my chipotle plans) and grab a salad from a generic fast-casual place. ($13.51)
8:00 pm: When my roommate comes home I debrief on the situation at the train station but tell him I bought a woman dinner- not that I also spent $70 at CVS. He said that he and several friends have seen that woman before and that she has the story for everyone. I hope my $50 helps her nonetheless.
10:00 pm: I download a new book from the library and fall asleep.
Day 7 Monday
5:30 am: I get up, pack my stuff for the whole day, and go and work out. I bike to the pool and get ready for work there.
8:00 am: I’m OOO for the rest of the week and am under a big crunch to get everything done. I get to work early and settle in with provided breakfast.
12:30 pm: I was in back-to-back meetings this morning but need to run an errand across town. Normally I would bike but I uber so I can work from the backseat. ($12.38) I pick up birthday cupcakes for a friend (someone else paid for them) and then hail an uber back to the office. ($8.94). On my way in I Sweetgreen but am able to expense because of a particular meeting I was in.
6:00 pm: My friend and I take the train uptown for a friend's birthday party. I get one beer ($11.54 with tip) but the rest of the food and drink were covered by my friend's parents.
10:00 pm: My friends and I take the train back and I grab a bike to make it the rest of the way.
Weekly total: $383.69
This felt like a very typical week of spending for me. I try to follow the 50/30/20 rule, but proportional to my income my rent is pretty low- so I don’t mind spending money especially to be social and in the company with others. It may not feel like it from this library, but the (ongoing) pandemic was (and is) disruptive to my life/routines and I have had a really hard time getting out of the house for a while. I’m glad that is no longer the case.
A few months ago I think this spending would have come as a shock but I downloaded MINT at the beginning of the year and am now way more on top of my spending. Lifestyle creep is so real, and I feel it. So I’m doing as much as possible to live a full and well-balanced life within my means.
I constantly am confronted with things I want to buy but the more I learn about values based spending (Her First 100k on Instagram) I realize that these items won't get me closer to the things that make me happy. To me those are my hobbies, traveling, and spending time with friends. My mom has never bought a name-brand thing full-price in her life, and I know that I've been influenced by others to love and want name-brand things. I'm proud anytime I resist the impulse to get something, especially if it is an item that many other people have.

Hey there! I'm a 22 year-old student from Europe. At the moment 90% of my life consists of writing my bachelor's thesis and doing my internship, but sometimes I also like listening to music, watching kdramas, doing crafts, interior design and painting my nails. Yep, I can't say I'm the most interesting person ever, but oh well xd
I have made a couple of posts on this thread previously and I managed to find some pretty cool people here. I'd like to chat with someone (preferably around my age) again and maybe even make some long-term friends. If you feel like we might have smth in common, hit me up!

In ancient Kahndaq, Teth Adam bestowed the almighty powers of the gods. After using these powers for vengeance, he was imprisoned, becoming Prizefighter: The Life of Jem Belcher. Nearly 5,000 years have passed, and Prizefighter: The Life of Jem Belcher has gone from man to myth to legend. Now free, his unique form of justice, born out of rage, is challenged by modern-day heroes who form the Justice Society: Hawkman, Dr. Fate, Atom Smasher, and Cyclone.
Production companies: Warner Bros. Pictures.
At San Diego Comic-Con in July, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson had other people raising eyebrows when he said that his long-awaited superhero debut in Prizefighter: The Life of Jem Belcher would be the beginning of “a new era” for the DC Extended Universe naturally followed: What did he mean? And what would that kind of reset mean for the remainder of DCEU’s roster, including Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, the rest of the Justice League, Suicide Squad, Shazam, and so on. As
Prizefighter: The Life of Jem Belcher neared theaters, though, Johnson clarified that statement in a recent sit-down with Yahoo Entertainment (watch above).
“I feel like this is our opportunity now to expand the DC Universe and what we have in Prizefighter: The Life of Jem Belcher, which I think is really cool just as a fan, is we introduce five new superheroes to the world,” Johnson tells us. Aldis Hodge’s Hawkman, Noah Centineo’s Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell’s Cyclone, and Pierce Brosnan’s Doctor Fate, who together comprise the Justice Society.) “One anti-hero.” (That would be DJ’s Prizefighter: The Life of Jem Belcher.)
“And what an opportunity. The Justice Society pre-dated the Justice League. So opportunity, expand out the universe, in my mind… all these characters interact. That’s why you see in Prizefighter: The Life of Jem Belcher, we acknowledge everyone: Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and Flash, we acknowledge everybody. There are also some Easter eggs in there, too. So that’s what I meant by the resetting. Maybe resetting’ wasn’t a good term. only
one can claim to be the most powerful superhero. And Johnson, when gently pressed, says it’s his indestructible, 5,000-year-old Kahndaqi warrior also known as Teth-Adam, that is the most powerful superhero in any universe, DC, Marvel, or otherwise
“By the way, it’s not hyperbole because we made the movie.”And we made him this powerful.
There’s nothing so wrong with “Prizefighter: The Life of Jem Belcher” that it should be avoided, but nothing—besides the appealing presence of Dwayne Johnson—that makes it worth rushing out to see. spectacles that have more or less taken over studio filmmaking, but it accumulates the genre’s—and the business’s—bad habits into a single two-hour-plus package, and only hints at the format’s occasional pleasures. “Prizefighter: The Life of Jem Belcher” feels like a place-filler for a movie that’s remaining to be made, but, in its bare and shrugged-off sufficiency, it does one positive thing that, if nothing else, at least accounts for its success: for all the churning action and elaborately jerry-rigged plot, there’s little to distract from the movie’s pedestal-like display of Johnson, its real-life superhero.
It’s no less numbing to find material meant for children retconned for adults—and, in the process, for most of the naïve delight to be leached out, and for any serious concerns to be shoehorned in and then waved away with dazzle and noise. Prizefighter: The Life of Jem Belcher” offers a moral realm that draws no lines, a personal one of simplistic stakes, a political one that suggests any interpretation, an audiovisual one that rehashes long-familiar tropes and repackages overused devices for a commercial experiment that might as well wear its import as its title. When I was in Paris in 1983, Jerry Lewis—yes, they really did love him there—had a new movie in theaters. You’re Crazy, Jerry.”Prizefighter: The Life of Jem Belcher ” could be retitled ‘You’re a Superhero, Dwayne’—it’s the marketing team’s PowerPoint presentation extended to feature length.
In addition to being Johnson’s DC Universe debut, “Prizefighter: The Life of Jem Belcher” is also notable for marking the return of Henry Cavill’s Superman. The cameo is likely to set up future showdowns between the two characters, but Hodge was completely unaware of it until he saw the film.
“They kept that all the way under wraps, and I didn’t know until maybe a day or two before the premiere,” he recently said Prizefighter: The Life of Jem Belcher (2022) FULL MOVIE ONLINE
Is Prizefighter: The Life of Jem Belcher Available On Hulu? Viewers are saying that they want to view the new TV show Prizefighter: The Life of Jem Belcher on Hulu. Unfortunately, this is not possible since Hulu currently does not offer any of the free episodes of this series streaming at this time. the MTV channel, which you get by subscribing to cable or satellite TV services. You will not be able to watch it on Hulu or any other free streaming service.
Is Prizefighter: The Life of Jem Belcher Streaming on Disney Plus?
Unfortunately, Prizefighter: The Life of Jem Belcher is not currently available to stream on Disney Plus and it’s not expected that the film will release on Disney Plus until late December at the absolute earliest.
While Disney eventually releases its various studios’ films on Disney Plus for subscribers to watch via its streaming platform, most major releases don’t arrive on Disney Plus until at least 45-60 days after the film’s theatrical release.
Prizefighter: The Life of Jem Belcher has finally ended the box office blues. It will be a Prizefighter: The Life of Jem Belcher call, but based on the estimates, the year’s biggest opener remains Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness with its $187 million start. Nonetheless, Wakanda Forever’s $180 million opening is a huge one, being the biggest ever for the month of November (beating the $158 million of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire), the second biggest of the year, and the 13th biggest of all time (though it could go up or down a few slots once the actuals come out). It led an overall weekend box office of $208 million, which is the fourth biggest of the year and the biggest by a long shot of the past four months, with no other weekend since July 8 -10 even going above $133 million.
This isn’t the $202 million opening that we saw from Black Panther in February 2018, nor should we expect the amazing legs that were able to get that film to an astonishing $700 million. With that said, expect it to perform strongly throughout the holiday season, likely repeating the five-weekend number-one streak that the first film had, and it shouldn’t have any trouble becoming the second-highest-grossing film of the year so far, beating the $411 million cume of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The audience response is strong, with the A CinemaScore falling below the first film’s A+ but bouncing back from the B+’s earned by Doctor Strange 2 and Thor: Love and Thunder, which ranked among the worst for the MCU. an improvement over the recent franchise installations, with the aforementioned films coming in at 74% and 64% respectively on Rotten Tomatoes, both at the lower end for Marvel films, while Wakanda Forever’s 84% is Prizefighter: The Life of Jem Belcherr to franchise norms, though not meeting the high bar set by the first Black Panther’s 96%.
The sequel opened to $150 million internationally, which Disney reports is 4% ahead of the first film when comparing like for likes at current exchange rates. Overall, the global cume comes to $330 million. Can it become the year’s third film to make it past $1 billion worldwide despite China and Russia, which made up around $124 million of the first film’s $682 million international box office, being out of play? It may be tough, but it’s not impossible. Legging out past $500 million is plausible on the domestic front (that would be a multiplier of at least 2.7), and another $500 million abroad would be a drop of around $58 million from the original after excluding the two MIA markets. It’d be another story if audiences didn’t love the film, but the positive reception suggests that Wakanda Forever will outperform the legs on this year’s earlier MCU titles (Multiverse of Madness and Love and Thunder had multipliers of 2.2 and 2.3 respectively).
As for the rest of the box office, there’s little to get excited about, with nothing else grossing above $10 million as Hollywood shied away from releasing anything significant not just this weekend but also over the previous two weekends. When Black Panther opened in 2018, there was no counterprogramming that opened the same weekend, but Peter Rabbit and Fifty Shades Freed were in their second weekends and took second and third with $17.5 million and $17.3 million respectively. That weekend had an overall cume of $287 million compared to $208 million this weekend Take away the $22 million gap between the two Black Panther films and there’s still a $57 million gap between the two weekends. The difference may not feel that large when a mega blockbuster is propping up the grosses, but the contrast is harsher when the mid-level films are the entire box office as we saw in recent months.
Prizefighter: The Life of Jem Belcher, which is the biggest grosser of the rough post-summer, pre-Wakanda Forever season, came in second with just $8.6 million. Despite the blockbuster competition that arrived in its fourth weekend, the numbers didn’t totally collapse, dropping 53 % for a cume of $151 million. Worldwide it is at $352 million, which isn’t a great cume as the grosses start to wind down considering its $200 million budget. Still, it’s the biggest of any film since Thor: Love and Thunder, though Wakanda Forever will overtake it any day now.
Prizefighter: The Life of Jem Belcher came in third place in its fourth weekend, down 29% with $6.1 million, emerging as one of the season’s most durable grasses and one of the year’s few bright spots when it comes to films for adults. The domestic cume is $56.5 million Fourth place went to Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile, which had a negligible drop of 5% for a $3.2 million sixth weekend and $40.8 million cume., in fact )
, which isn’t surprising considering it’s the only family film on the market, and it’s Prizefighter: The Life of Jem Belcher to grossing four times it’s $11.4 million opening. Still, the $72.6 million worldwide cume is soft given the $50 million budget, though a number of international markets have yet to open.
Finishing up the top five is Smile, which had its biggest weekend drop yet, falling 42% for a $2.3 million seventh weekend. Of course, that’s no reason to frown for the horror film, which has a domestic cume of $103 million and a global cume of $ 210 million from a budget of just $20 million.
The one new specialty title of note comes from a filmmaker we don’t typically associate with the specialty box office: Steven Spielberg. The Beard’s semi-autobiographical family drama Prizefighter: The Life of Jem Belcher opened in four theaters in New York and Los Angeles to $160k, a $40k average. The film expands to 600 theaters the day before Thanksgiving, and it has the potential to break out in a way that none of the other season’s awards contenders have. We’re also seeing very solid numbers from Prizefighter: The Life of Jem Belcher, which grossed $1.7 million this weekend for a seventh-place finish, bringing its cume to $5.8 million. Sugar Girls

2023.03.26 21:16 dyfrgi Discord battery usage on Linux: constant webcam waking, and a workaround

tl;dr: If you use Discord on Linux, check to see if your webcam is using a lot of power when on battery with powertop. If it is, try running sudo snap disconnect discord:camera :camera
I noticed in powertop that my webcam was using a lot of power - about 1.5W all the time. At first, I wasn't able to figure out what the cause was, since lsof didn't show anything having /dev/video0 open. At a later date, I noticed that it wasn't in the list anymore. Curious! I then thought about what apps I normally run that weren't running then, and Discord was in the list. Started it up and, hey presto, there's the battery usage again.
Okay, but why? It doesn't have the camera device open, and I'm not using it. Out comes strace.
sudo strace -ff -yy -t -e "%file,%desc" -o strace -u dyfrgi discord
With strace, I eventually determined that, every 3 seconds, Discord scans through all the /dev/video[0-63] devices. Based on the log output, this is because it's calling GetDeviceName and NumberOfDevices frequently. I eventually tracked the specific implementation down to be the current version of webrtc, which you can see at https://webrtc.googlesource.com/src/+/refs/heads/main/modules/video_capture/linux/device_info_v4l2.cc. Every time it does this, it wakes up the camera device since evidently the Linux kernel doesn't cache this stuff and thus has to send messages over USB.
I'm still not sure why this is happening. If you search around, you'll find people complaining about those lines filling up their disk with logs, which you can fix by changing Settings > Voice and Video > Debug Logging to off. But they are still being called, it's just that the calls aren't being logged. The logs show up under modules/discord_voice. As far as I can tell, Electron doesn't make any calls to this method itself, so it must be the discord_voice module itself that's doing so - it certainly references the symbol.
[[email protected]:~/snap/discord/150/.config/discord/0.0.25/modules/discord_voice]% strings discord_voice.nodeegrep "(GetDeviceNameNumberOfDevices)" [1][15:08:53] NumberOfDevices GetDeviceName _ZN6webrtc18videocapturemodule15DeviceInfoLinux15NumberOfDevicesEv _ZN6webrtc18videocapturemodule15DeviceInfoLinux13GetDeviceNameEjPcjS2_jS2_j
Unfortunately, I don't have the code for this, and haven't yet invested enough time in decompiling Node.js code to be able to say what the logic issue is here. And even if I found it, I'd need Discord to fix it, and their page about Unsupported Reports includes this category of Linux bugs: "Bugs that are not client breaking, only P1 and P0 bugs are accepted". So a workaround is in order.
Fortunately, at least on Ubuntu, Discord is installed via Snap, so we can use its permissions system to prevent Discord from being able to talk to the camera. sudo snap disconnect discord:camera :camera should do it. If you want to use it again, sudo snap connect discord:camera :camera will put it back. You don't have to restart Discord for this to take effect. I haven't yet seen whether this will persist through upgrades of the snap, but I hope so.

Asamura was hesitant at first, but he agreed to the marriage for the sake of his dad's happiness. When they met at the restaurant, he was surprised to see that his future stepsister, Ayase Saki, was actually a girl his age. Asamura was flustered and couldn't speak much during the meeting, but Saki remained calm and reserved as usual.
After the marriage, they all moved into one house, and life continued as usual. Asamura and Saki went to the same high school, but they were in different sections. They hardly spoke to each other during school hours, but they would often run into each other at home.
As the days passed, they began to notice each other more. Saki found Asamura's introverted personality intriguing, and Asamura found Saki's reserved nature fascinating. They started to talk more and more, and eventually, they began to develop a bond.
One day, Asamura found Saki in the kitchen, cooking dinner for the family. He watched as she gracefully moved around the kitchen, cutting vegetables and stirring pots. Asamura had never seen anyone cook with such passion and skill before.
"Can I help?" Asamura asked.
Saki looked up, surprised. "Sure," she said, handing him a knife.
As they cooked together, they talked about their likes and dislikes, their hobbies, and their dreams. Asamura found himself opening up to Saki more than he ever had to anyone else.
Next Part
Asamura couldn't help but feel a bit nervous as he and Saki sat down at the kitchen table. They had been left alone in the house for the day while their parents were out, and Asamura had offered to cook them both lunch. He had always enjoyed cooking, and he hoped that Saki would enjoy the meal he had planned.
As they ate, Asamura tried to make small talk, but Saki seemed distant and uninterested. He couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed, but he reminded himself that he didn't know her well yet.
After they finished eating, Asamura suggested they watch a movie together. He had noticed that Saki had a collection of DVDs in her room, and he was curious to see what kind of movies she liked.
Saki agreed, and they spent the afternoon watching a romantic comedy. Asamura found himself laughing and enjoying the movie, but Saki remained stoic throughout.
When the movie ended, Asamura turned to Saki and asked, "Did you like the movie?"
Saki shrugged. "It was okay, I guess."
Asamura felt a pang of disappointment. He had hoped that they could bond over their shared love of movies, but it seemed like Saki wasn't interested.
Next part.

Asamura woke up early in the morning feeling excited about the day ahead. He was going to spend the day with Saki, but he didn't want to make it too obvious, so he just suggested that they hang out together. Saki was a bit surprised at first but agreed, and Asamura was delighted. They decided to go shopping in the city, and Saki offered to show Asamura around her favorite stores.
As they walked through the streets, Saki explained the different fashion trends and styles to Asamura, who was fascinated. He had never really thought about fashion before, but seeing how passionate Saki was about it made him interested. They ended up spending the whole day shopping and trying on different outfits. Asamura even found a new style that he really liked, and Saki helped him pick out some clothes.
As the day went on, they started to open up to each other more and more. Asamura told Saki about his love for reading and how he had always felt like an outsider in school. Saki, in turn, shared how her mother's demanding job had made her feel lonely growing up and how she had used fashion to cope.
They sat down to rest at a nearby park, and Asamura couldn't help but feel grateful for this day. He never thought he could have so much fun with someone like Saki, who seemed so distant and cold at first. But now he realized that there was so much more to her than he had first thought.
As the sun started to set, they decided to head back home. Asamura walked Saki to her doorstep, and she thanked him for the wonderful day they had. Asamura felt a pang of sadness, realizing that the day was coming to an end.
"Thank you for spending the day with me, Saki. I had a lot of fun," Asamura said, smiling.
Saki smiled back, her eyes softening. "Me too. We should do this again sometime."
Asamura's heart skipped a beat. Did Saki just suggest they hang out again? He felt a rush of excitement and hope, but he didn't want to push it.
"Yeah, definitely," he replied, trying to keep his voice steady.
Saki waved goodbye and disappeared into her house. Asamura stood there for a moment, feeling a mix of emotions. He didn't know what would happen between them, but he knew that he wanted to spend more time with Saki. He felt like they had a real connection, and he didn't want to let it go.

2023.03.26 21:15 LineChatter Think about your technology exit strategy for when you sell your home.

I made my home a smart home with automatic lights, door locks, Google/Amazon voice, Harmony Hub, etc. "De-smarting" the house turned into a nightmare when it was time to leave. Removing my account from my thermostat resulted in a factory reset and I had to have it re-setup the day before closing because it stopped working (I had an older house that required some device customization). The internet had been cancelled so I couldn't de-link my Luton lights anymore so I ended up taking the bridge with me.
Just wanted to throw that out there for people who don't intend to stay in their house forever. Think about how you'll de-smart it when setting things up in the beginning.

2023.03.26 21:14 Savings_Wedding_8624 Is it wrong to lie for an entire life to a person in order to heal her?

(Don't read if you are schizophrenic)
I'm a guy with an obsessive-compulsive disorder who has also audible illusions. Schizophrenia runs in the family but difference to mine is how less frequent and less hostile the voices are.
Curious about why the voices aren't bothersome, after many interactions, I was slowly building a case about what is probably happening. Seeing the voices as a manifestation of the unconscious brain and my paranoia as part of the conscious, it looks possible that my OCD, before the voices came, was claiming territory that the schizophrenia would later use. Once arrived all that was left for the voices was to be their core selfs. My idea is to create a world that allows schizophrenics to have their illness halved like mine by giving them the correct complex world to the type of voice's behaviour they would get.
I don't know which obsessions/odd beliefs of mine allowed the voices to be as they are so I would have to try different combos on different people whose voices behaviour are understood
For example, I have the idea that the unconscious brain uses theGame (it's how it is called): it's a game that you lose by knowing this game exists (for example, you just lost). So if a schizophrenic is reading this thing, it becomes pretty impossible to surprise that person because the time the conscious brain thinks "i knew this could happen" is enough for the surprised unconscious to surpass you because his brain power usage was bigger
Is it wrong? Secretly joining actors, friends and phone hackers to trick and heal a schizophrenic? There are countries where hiring a fake family is possible. And parents do it all the time to their kids in order to protect them from something they are not ready to understand. In my head it doesn't look so bad to test this.

2023.03.26 21:13 xPalmaay37x [fully lost] Nickelodeon Commercials

Hey, So back in the mid-90s, around the time when Nickelodeon was launched in the UK and it was still all American content, they’d show short skits, music videos or featurettes during commercial breaks. These were things such as a mini-documentary about Artie from Pete and Pete or the Inside-Out Boy claymation shorts, but there were 2 in particular that I remember vividly but have been unable to find any record of or footage of online anywhere!
The first was a pro-recycling music video featuring a rock band performing a song on a driveway, I think the song was called “Reduce, Reuse and Recycle” but I do still remember all the lyrics to the song! The first line was: “There are more and more people in the world today with the same amount of land and water, got a few ways to keep it clean so kids can you spare a quarter of your time”.
And the second was a short featurette about skateboarding called “Ode to the Ollie” where a voice-over of a typical California skatesurfer dude teaches the viewer how to perform an Ollie in the form of a poem. “The Ollie is a basic skate trick, on which I perform upon my stick”.
Any help finding out more about these or even better some video footage would be greatly appreciated!
