Today I phoned the DET's incident reporting hotline (1800 811 523) and reported some secondary students' antisocial, threatening and disrespectful actions towards me. They did not physically touch me, but their behaviour was deliberately intimidating.
Both students have a looooooong record on Sentral, entries from both myself and other teachers (we're talking 50+ this TERM alone) and I am just fed up with the lunchtimes given over to restorative conversations, the rigmarole of admin, the pantomime of phonecalls home to parents who have no desire or ability to influence their children's behaviour. I have better things to do. Like actually teach.
So I told my principal I was going to contact the hotline to report a risk to my psychosocial health. This is a big thing that the Fed are pushing right now, as it's a recent change: you don't actually need a specific incident, you can just report a general sense of overwhelm etc. Anyway, this was a specific incident and my principal supported me to contact the hotline. I think reporting it actually makes it easier for principals to escalate consequences for a student because they are compelled to report back what the school has done to mitigate the psychosocial risk.
When I called I was taken seriously, the person on the hotline was suitably sympathetic, the students' names have been recorded in the official report. Also, I was offered time off and help with a worker's comp process. They took the situation that seriously.
We should be reporting more. I think there is a toxic mentality in teaching that we need to be unflappable, have thick skin, that we need to remember not to take things too seriously, that the kids are just kids. Yeh, that's true for the vast majority of normal teenagers who are able to recognize a teacher's humanity. Normal teenagers who are a bit surly but can be helped to reflect on poor choices and genuinely work to become better people.
Some students refuse to. They are a danger to the well-being of teachers, the very people who are trying to help them. That makes them a danger to the entire school ecosystem, because it is burning good teachers out so the good kids miss out. These chronically delinquent young people need targeted help with social skills, unresolved trauma, communication skills etc. It is unfair on everyone - including the Richard Craniums themselves - to expect them to learn that stuff in a mainstream classroom.
Report them. When the DET are shilling out workers comp for ALL the teachers - I expect there are thousands of us - who are being threatened or emotionally abused by this kind of student, they will have to figure out an effective way to actually support us AND them, if for no other reason than it will cost the DET too much money to pay everyone out.

As title says, I’m a recently new DD driver and sort of doing it on the side with the wife. I work 12 hour days, but few hours in AM doesn’t hurt my sleep schedule. Depending on what’s going on for the weekend’s when I’m off, we’ll drive again.
We’ll this past weekend we pounded out about 30-40 deliveries, everything went smooth. So we thought. The following morning before daughter wakes (she’s 2), we figured go out for a few more deliveries and get everyone breakfast. Signed in, casually checked ratings, and I got a 1 star rating. The ratings aren’t really often in my area (15? out of 180 deliveries), so was pretty shocked to see that.
Drops my 5* to a 4.75*. Was very confused as to what happened because anytime we had an issue the previous day we were very quick to notify each customer for whatever reason, but they were very slim issues hardly any.
What gives? Does anyone know? Drivers.. and or customers who have received/gave a 1* star rating?
I think anything under a 3* rating you should be able to see WHY you were given that rating, to naturally “fix” whatever happened for future customers.

M32 F26 Hey I met this girl in my neighbourhood over a year ago we would bump in coming and going. Recently I went to her place and we just chat for like 3hour one evening. She is really nice and I asked her if she would be open to dating. She said value the conversation but not looking for a relationship at the moment as she is dealing with crazy ex. “I appreciate the thought but I’d prefer to be alone, in case my sister needs me. I’ll explain it all next week sometime”
Should I peruse this more. If yes when should I msg her. I really like her but I don’t wanna come up too strong and it not like I won’t see here as she lives in the same building as me. What should I do.

We had to sit here for 7 YEARS WITH THE SAME LINE so do y’all feel like it paid off? Or they wasted meaningless pages for this one line?

Hello everyone. I wrote about a similar issue before, but while reflecting on myself, I noticed what is probably the main problem. I simply don't enjoy the process of getting to know girls. I was working the front desk one Friday and got a call from a man wanting to book a room for himself, his wife and his child for the weekend. I give him our going rate, ask all the standard questions and send the email confirmation. Then he asks me if the hotel allows animals, and I ask him of the animal in question is a service animal, here is the conversation that followed.

AO: It's a small dog.

AO: It's a small French Bulldog. (I don't actually remember the breed)

AO: His is about 8 - 10 Kilograms, so... not to big.
Me: Does the dog provide any medical or other service to you or a family member?
AO: He is our new family dog.

AO: Well he is small, can sit in your lap and goes everywhere with us..., so I guess you could say that.

I used to be all in on therapy. Even now I still believe that therapy, with the right therapist and the right modality, can be incredibly helpful for an individual.
But…
The net affect of therapy being more accessible and more popularized is now causing our society more harm than good.
People are no longer willing to be apart of each others emotional support system and this has caused a massive spike in loneliness and depression across the board. If we don’t do something about it, it’s only going to get worse.
It’s becoming less and less socially acceptable to be able to go to your friends or family and, not just talk about your problems, but even just to vent. More often than not you’ll get met with, “have you talked to a therapist?” Or “you should talk to a professional about this” which is not just invalidating in the sense that my friend is telling me they don’t care to hear about me, my stories, or my emotional world, but also now creates a massive rift between us by making our relationship solely superficial. I am not here to entertain anyone, if you don’t care about how I feel, then I don’t care about you. Real love, less friends.
If therapy is the only place that we are allowed to receive emotional support, then that means that emotional support is now a privilege that not everyone has access to, or the means to acquire.
But here’s the thing, therapists can’t truly be apart of your emotional support system because you can’t pay a person enough to care about you. Friendship and family has that one special ingredient to healing that therapy will never have: LOVE. To be seen and heard by someone who loves you is more powerful than any therapy you could ever pay for.
Let’s not forget that we can’t schedule a panic attack around therapy. Or worse, when a therapist has you completely triggered and then WHOOPS! Times up!! A friend would never leave you in emotional distress to pick up again next week where we left off.
Many therapists are trained to be detached and non judgmental. Some even go so far as to not choosing a side when you’re dealing with an abusive person which can cause real harm to the person seeking help. This cold detachedness is a massive barrier to healing. While some people know that they should just get a new therapist, many people don’t and will stay stuck with a toxic therapist for years not realizing that it’s a problem. Worse if you don’t have any friends to bounce your thoughts off of and see if this person isn’t a good fit for you.
But that’s right, you heard me: toxic therapists. They are out there!!! And they are hurting people. They went to school to be a therapist when they should have just gone to therapy themselves. They love the power of it and the control they have, over the conversation, over their client. They actively hurt people every day. And your friend just dismissed your emotional world so you could go talk to one of them. Is that healing? No. It’s harming.
TL;DR: Healing comes faster with community. This outsourcing of emotional support to therapists is breaking down our communities and further alienating us from each other as we become unwilling and unable to be there for each other in a meaningful way.

For me it’s the exploration of the towns.
In all the older games, right back to gen 1, going in and out of houses and picking up info, HMs, TMs, quest items and such was vital, as well as finding the odd trade Pokémon or NPC who needed to be triggered.
In the newer games (I specifically play Scarlet) I find towns mostly skippable as there are almost no houses to enter, most NPCs in the towns just have a random bubble text that means nothing, I found one person who wants to trade a Pokémon for a Haunter / Gengar and that’s about it as far as finding interesting NPC townsfolk.
I miss exploring all the houses with doors you can go through, taking to some doofus about why he nicknamed his Spearow “Tweety” and getting cool items from all the nerds that never go out. Heck, of any of you reading this break into my house and initiate conversation, I’ll give you TM05, no problem.
