2023.05.30 13:20 LennyFace420Kappa Need Advice on USB-C Power Delivery for ASUS ROG Zephyrus M16 (2021)

Hello Everyone! I wanted to share my laptop charging situation and seek some advice and guidance from fellow users. I own a ROG Zephyrus M16 (2021) laptop, which is now a year old. Unfortunately, I've encountered some frustrating issues with my charging experience. I have gone through two chargers within this short span of time, and both of them exhibited similar signs of deterioration, such as charging at an angle and eventually becoming non-functional. I always ensure that the charger is correctly plugged in, but I'm at a loss as to why this keeps happening. It's possible that power surges or other factors are contributing to this problem. Given this ongoing issue, I have decided to make a change and opt for type-C power delivery for my charging needs. This means I have to temporarily give up gaming on my laptop, as it requires a different power solution. However, I still need my laptop for work and other tasks, so finding a suitable charging solution is essential. Unfortunately, there is no official ASUS store in my country, making it difficult for me to purchase ASUS's own 100W charger, which is recommended for my laptop model. However, after some research, I found that the Baseus Gan3 Pro 100W charger is available for purchase. My question to the community is whether this charger would be suitable for my ROG M16 (2021) laptop. Any insights or alternative recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Furthermore, I would like to gather some knowledge regarding precautions to take when using type-C/USB-C power delivery for charging. I want to ensure that I don't damage the battery health of my laptop in the process. Are there any specific programs I should avoid using? Should I cut out gaming completely, even with the new charger? And is it advisable to avoid using the laptop while it's charging? I understand that my laptop has crossed its warranty date, but any advice or suggestions from the community would be helpful in resolving my laptop charging issues. Thank you in advance for your assistance and support!

2023.05.30 13:17 thealmightychunko First ever PC build for 1440p gaming and video editing.

Hi there. As the title mentioned, this build would be used for gaming in 1440p and video editing work (mainly Premiere Pro, a bit of After Effects, maybe Davinci Resolve in the future).
Was also considering the 3080 Ti/4070 Ti but ultimately the 3060 Ti is what I can realistically fit in my budget for the time being.
I went with the 850w PSU as I was thinking if I ever upgrade my GPU, the 850w PSU would still be usable. Is this valid or should I just get a cheaper 750w PSU, save some cash and upgrade both PSU and GPU in the future?
Let me know if I can clarify anything further. Thanks!

Best Gaming Routers In USA Available on Amazon
Gaming routers are designed to provide a better online gaming experience by reducing lag and improving latency. If you are a serious online gamer, then a gaming router can be a worthwhile investment. It can help to improve your gaming experience and reduce lag, which can give you a competitive edge.

Benefits of Using a Gaming Router:

  • Reduced lag: Lag is the delay between when you press a button on your controller or keyboard and when the action is reflected on the screen. Gaming routers can help to reduce lag by optimizing your network and prioritizing gaming traffic.
  • Improved latency: Latency is the time it takes for data to travel from your computer to the game server. Gaming routers can help to improve latency by using a variety of techniques, such as reducing the distance between your computer and the game server.
  • Faster speeds: Gaming routers typically have faster processors and more memory than traditional routers, which allows them to handle more data at once. This can lead to faster download speeds and less lag during online gaming.
  • Better range: Gaming routers often have more powerful antennas than traditional routers, which can extend the range of your Wi-Fi network. This can be helpful if you have a large home or if you live in an area with a lot of interference.
Advanced security features: Gaming routers often have more advanced security features than traditional routers. This can help to protect your network from hackers and other online threats.

2023.05.30 13:09 ShoreySurfin Z790M Aorus Elite AX D5 Coil Whine

Hi,
I just finished my new PC build and it has a very high pitch sound, almost like hissing, coming from it that makes it almost unusable. I have tried a bunch of stuff to troubleshoot and I seem to have maybe narrowed it down to the motherboard or memory causing the sounds.
This is what the noise sounds like (not my video) - https://youtube.com/shorts/h94E8kA7jGA
Specs:

What I have tried/ruled out so far:
This seems to leave the motherboard, memory or storage as the problem here. My old PC is 8 years old so I don’t really have the parts to swap out the remaining components to test.
What else should I do? To me the most likely cause seems like the motherboard.
Read online it could be EMI (electromagnetic interference)but it happens at different areas of my house.
I took it to the computer shop I got the mobo/cpu/ram from and they plugged it in and it didn’t have the sound. Based on that they said it’s probably dirty power. However, all of my roommates have gaming PCs and none have this issue. They also plugged it in after I’d left it unplugged for the day and they did not plug in any mouse/keyboard/monitor so I am thinking maybe it didn’t really “boot” properly? They only tried once like this and called it dirty power, but wouldn’t that mean my old pc would have whine?
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am stuck.

2023.05.30 13:04 bigben_757 Options for remotely using desktop around the house(via screenshare to tablet)? ASUS Q530 Laptop Reliability?

Just bought a laptop yesterday (ASUS Creator Series Q530) and like it so far and came in at around $950 w/tax. The problem with laptops imo is long term reliability. The $800 lenovo I bought several years ago was essentially a paperweight just past the warranty period and they're supposed to be highly regarded as possibly the most reliable brand as far as laptops go. I've noticed that this ASUS tends to run pretty warm which I could see leading to problems. I'm also reading now that they had issues with the Zenbook series laptops which I believe is what the creator series replaced and they had issues with the hard drive connections. Can anyone shed light and personal opinions on these laptops?
Do you all think desktops are more reliable? It's not often that I think I would ever see the need for the portability of a laptop and I see alot of gaming desktop pcs now already built at good price. I assume that just the pure point of having alot airflow and cooler operation would add to longevity.
Has anyone set up something that would essentially turn their desktop into a portable laptop that you could just use anywhere around the house. Keep the desktop setup in one place hard wired to my router and the screen mirrored to a tablet which I could use a Bluetooth laptop and mouse or track pad to operate it remotely? What would be your go to solution to use for this application and has anyone here done it?

2023.05.30 12:43 USLShadow CPU and Motherboard Advice

Morning Buildapc!
I’m currently on a I7-6700 and looking to upgrade CPU and MB.
My budget is around £400-500 on the upper end.
I’m looking to upgrade in the next two months.
So far I‘ve only have had experience with intel in recent years, hence asking for advice.
Currently looking at an I7-12700, is there better bang for buck? Used for heavily modded MC and photo-editing.
MBs I’m open to suggestion on, WiFi would be nice but not required, avoiding ASUS
Many thanks Reddit!

2023.05.30 12:37 Experztyle RX 6700 paired with ryzen 5 5600 vs ryzen 5 7600 vs ryzen 7 5600x - upgrade kits

Hi all, I'm getting a new Radeon RX6700 and want an upgrade kit to go with it. I play on 1440p and wanted to know what are the pros and cons between the 3 upgrade kits. Also, will a Ryzen 5 5600 bottleneck a RX6700(the non XT) or is it good enough for 1440p.
The links for the 3 upgrade kits below:
{https://www.evetech.co.za/ryzen-5-5600-prime-b450m-k-ii-16gb-rgb-3600mhz-upgrade-kit/best-deal/17649.aspx } - (Ryzen 5 5600 - Asus Prime b450 K II - Klevv Kras 16Gb Ram 3600 MHz) - 280 USD
{https://www.evetech.co.za/amd-ryzen-5-7600-pro-a620m-e-16gb-ddr5-5600mhz-upgrade-kit/best-deal/17789.aspx} - (Ryzen 5 7600 - MSI Pro A620 M E - Corsair Vengeance 16 Gb ram 5600 MHz) - 400 USD
{https://www.evetech.co.za/ryzen-7-5700x-pro-b550m-p-16gb-rgb-3600mhz-upgrade-kit/best-deal/17547.aspx} (Ryzen 7 5700x - MSI PRO B550M P - Klevv Kras 16Gb Ram 3600 MHz + Deepcool LS520 CPU cooler) - 440 USD
I see that the motherboard for the ryzen 5 7600 supports PCIE 4. I assume that has to do with the cpu and RAM (5600 MHz). I heard that doesn't make much difference for gaming but not sure. I think all motherboards have 1 x M.2 drive slots.
If there is not much performance difference for gaming between the 5600 and the other two, I might go with that to save money. But also ,which do you think is the best deal if money isn't an issue?

2023.05.30 12:20 Gehrschrein Sound crackling streaming to my Steam Deck from Windows PC

Hi, fairly new to Moonlight and Gamestream.
The client is Moonlight running on the deck with the host being my Windows desktop machine, running over Wi-Fi LAN.
I get pretty terrible sound popping and crackle in some games, but not all, strangely enough. Cyberpunk is the worst of the bunch with nearly constant sound popping. Other titles, such as Vermintide 2 and Skyrim exhibit no audio issues.
So far I've tried modifying bitrate (no effect), un-muting local host audio (no effect), changing sound format on client from Stereo to 5.1 (no effect). I've also tried modifying host resolution, again with no effect on audio artefacting.
I've also read some older reports that recommend changing audio bitrate to 44.1 KHz. I am unable to change the bitrate on the NVIDIA HDMI connector at all and changing the bitrate on my default output makes no difference.
So then the question is - how do you suggest I troubleshoot this? At first I assumed it to be a wi-fi issue due to latency/jitter, but that doesn't really explain why some games do not exhibit this at all.
Any thoughts please?
