Here's a lot of background to set the scene and offer myself some therapy...
..It was the last lesson of a 4.5 hour non-stop stint on Engoo. I was already in a zombified state.
This particular student was 15 lessons into his Engoo life and left a note in the Special Remarks saying "I'm going to talk about Astrology on Youtube".
Beyond my star sign and what my wife sometimes tells me about the personalities of different star signs, I couldn't tell you the first thing about astrology. My profile states I'm into economics and politics, but hey, since when did students check profiles and look beyond ratings before reserving?
So the lesson starts, and I don't know if anyone else has had a student like this, but there seem to be students out there that have scripts prepared and they read through them at 100mph an hour. From the get-go he rattled on about astrology and his background in astrology at a speed that made his language so incomprehensible and nonsensical that I just completely switched off.
I started checking out dream retirement properties in Patagonia, flight prices to Bangkok, investigating which crypto will make me a millionaire, confirming which countries provide digital nomad visas, I fell down the rabbit hole of Reddit and found myself in some obscure as hell sub reddits, he may as well have been speaking Arabic.
And then, after 15 minutes, he semi shouts "I must seem like a mad scientist HAHAHAHA....so..what questions do you have for me?"
At this point I froze and panicked. Not one word of what he had said had made it's way to my brain.
Me: "Well....ah....eh.....erm.....eh......what's your favorite star sign?"
Student: "......ASTROLOGISTS DON'T HAVE FAVORITE STAR SIGNS....."
deafening silence
Me: "Ah....eh......ok...you said you make youtube videos in the special remarks, what do you teach students in your videos?.."
Student: "I'VE ALREADY TOLD YOU!!!!!!!!!!"
Even more deafening silence
I already have no idea how we filled the last 10 minutes, but I filled out the lesson notes with my new student template and BANG, 3 star review and a comment telling other students I was asking questions he had already talked about (in fairness this was probably correct, however as I didn't take in one word he said I can't verify it).
At this point my petty side came out and I decided he didn't deserve my nice template, so I revised the notes and told him that if he is going to talk about a topic like Astrology then he should search for tutors that have similar interests as not all tutors know enough or are interested enough to hold a conversation about it. I did want to add the stipulation that this last part wouldn't apply if I was paid more than 5 USD per lesson, but I didn't want to push it...

So, after that therapy, does anyone know if students are alerted to revised lesson notes? I'm hoping my rage lesson notes therapy wasn't in vain...

Frequent urination causing anxiety. TLDR; urine goes from concentrated to dilute after very minimal fluid intake and bladder fills very quickly (15-30min) for hours on end. Leaving me dehydrated and back to concentrated urine by early evening.
35F, 5ft3, 118lbs. Autonomic Dysfunction, Gastroparesis, SVT. Currently on Dexilant 60mg od, just stopped Domperidone 10mg qid ~2w ago.
I seem to be having a new symptom (1yr) and I am wondering if it is related to my Autonomic Dysfunction.
This is the pattern... wake up and drink 1 cup of coffee. Never more than 1 cup. Have my usual BM and usually go pee a couple times within 2hrs. I understand coffee can have diuretic effects. After a couple (2-3) bathroom trips my urine is dark in colour and heart rate is high (+130bpm). My typical signs of dehydration. So I'll start drinking water or Gatorade.
I'm not kidding you I can take 3 sips of a liquid and my bladder will fill with clear urine every 15-30mins. That'll go on for about 4 bathroom trips(2-3hr). Then I won't have to go again for hours and my urine will go back to being concentrated. I continue drinking fluids throughout the day. I can't drink too much too fast or I'll throw up (Gastroparesis issue?).
How can my urine go from concentrated to dilute after 3 sips? This causes me so much anxiety as I have a 1hr commute to work with no place to stop and pee. I find myself starving my body of fluids until I get to work when I'm on afternoon shift just so I can make it to work without my bladder exploding. I also get a lot of anxiety surrounding going out because I have to pee so frequently if I've had anything to drink. People in my life constantly tease me about how often I need to peed when I'm having one of these "episodes".
My mom thinks it's just a week bladder from having 3 kids...but I beg to differ. I do not leak urine. I do not have urgency with only a semi full bladder. When I need to go, I REALLY need to go my bladder is very full every 30min and takes a while to empty.
My daily fluid intake (water and/or Gatorade) is ~1500ml. I also try to add more sodium to my diet.
I eliminated caffeine from my diet for 6 months with no improvement so now I've gone back to 1 cup in the morning.
No UTI, no gyne infections like yeast or BV, etc.
24hr urine came back with porphyrins but no other comments were made. Total volume was approximately 2000ml. Most of that being collected within 6 hours.

I’m posting to hopefully get reassurance that it’s not unreasonable to be upset and to look for advice moving forward.
It’s a month before my wedding and up to this point there has been no signs of her not coming. She’s a long time friend and first time mom. Her baby is 8 months old for context. I got a call recently or her saying they’re thinking of not coming because they’re worried about travel with the baby— she called to see how I’d react I guess. I held it together on the phone and told her that I was upset but I’d never ask her to put the health of her family above my wedding. (She is worried her baby will get sick by being on the plane or worries their ears will hurt when the plane changes altitude). She ended the call saying she would get back to me with a for-sure answer.
I’m upset that’s it’s so last minute but also now I’m just feeling hurt that she waited so long to tell me. I’m not a mom so I’m trying to be understanding. Any advice on how to move forward would be helpful as I’m feeling like I don’t want her to come out of duty. (She eluded to flying alone for 48 hours and leaving her baby to drink breast milk from a straw because they won’t take a bottle… which just makes me feel even worse).

Hey y'all, I'm on day 15 of trying to make Citrix's Adaptive Authentication work within Citrix Cloud. Is anyone else out there using it successfully?
Honestly, I'm about ready to rip my hair out dealing with Citrix support - they don't even seem to understand their own offering! All I'm getting is a frustrating error message: "Something went wrong. Please close Citrix Workspace and sign in again."
Anyone have any experience or advice they can offer? Much appreciated!

So I've (25f) been talking to someone (28m) for about three weeks now. We've seen each other three times and he says he misses me in between visits and wants to see me more but is tired a lot from work. He works blue collar and I work in an office but sometimes have to be on the road too.
Every single "date" we've had has been at his place. We haven't gone out and I thought we would by the third date but he keeps saying he's too tired. Well this third date he ended up talking to me for like 5 minutes and then napping the rest of the time. I was there for two hours. Pretty upset because I took a lot of time to look good and anticipated good conversation and some physical stuff to happen.
Our first two days I made him finish (we haven't had penetrative sex yet) but I didn't finish either time. I said it was okay because it was, but I was expecting to get some attention to my pleasure thrown my way on this date as an even exchange. Well none of that happened.
And when I said I was leaving since it was late he was apologizing and saying we'll go out next time, etc. And I said I was trying to be understanding since he was tired. But he said he didn't want a yes woman so I should voice how I feel. So I did. I said I felt like he didn't really want to see me and paid no attention, and I would've preferred he cancel and reschedule to a day where we could actually talk and connect or go out. We have yet to leave his apartment at all in the last three dates.
Then he said I was too upset. Lol so I tried to be chill and he wanted my opinion, but then when I gave it he basically said I was overreacting. Is there any saving this, was it just a bad night? Or is this a sign we probably aren't compatible?
For what its worth, I had a long day too yesterday. I was up since 5am and spent 4 hours driving for work, and still had the energy to look good and be present for our date. And he didnt. He's nice but maybe he just doesn't care enough to put in the effort?

I lived 7 months with crippling sciatica. I couldn’t sit down for meals or walk longer than 20 minutes.
A quick scene-by-scene of the first 4 hours following my surgery this week.
I didn’t even make it to the OR conscious, next thing I know I’m waking up in a stretcher in the recovery room. My mouth is dry and sore, I get ice chips from a nurse for my mouth. My incision hurts. My legs are aching like crazy.
Surgeon and his OR nurse come to see me. They say it went well. Surgeon mentions he cut on right side first (What? Why? It’s on my left side) but ended up cutting left side and going in with a tube (we discussed the tubular option on Monday, he explained drawbacks. What changed his mind from Monday visit?). I’m too groggy to engage and understand properly. I’ll ask him tomorrow when he comes by.
I rest and people keep checking vitals, and then I eventually get rolled back to orthopedic floor. I see a familiar face in one of the nurses from last night, Justin, who waves hi as I arrive. I wave back, Justin’s an ex-college baseball and quickly felt like a homie. I get to my room.
First challenge: get up. I manage to roll over and get up assisted. I have a new 84 year old roommate and I say hi coming in.
My roommate takes up my attention for the next hour. He is struggling to breathe and nurses are calling in doctors. I overhear his lungs have water in them and may collapse. He’s also confused with evidence of some neurological condition. Any initial frustration of mine gets reframed into empathy for him (I would’ve loved peace and quiet to recover). I soon start to think it was a gift, as it really puts my situation into broader context.
I eventually ask my nurse to go for a walk (despite the pain, my surgeon said it speeds up healing). On way out, my roommate asks “where you going?” He seems kind. I respond saying “I’m going to try walking, you focus on breathing, and I’ll see you soon”.
I manage to pee in a bottle (this is a good sign). I felt there was more but gave up after 2 min as I already had quite a bit in the bottle.
I go on a walk with the nurse on staff tonight. She’s pretty, kind, and a welcomed distraction from the pain learning a bit of her story as a 25 year old nurse from Long Island.
On my way back into room from walk, my roommate asks in a quiet raspy tone, “how was it?” My intuition tells me he’s the type of guy that would enjoy a dad joke.
I tell him “it was great, we saw elephants, giraffes, and monkeys running around” (knowing he wasn’t too confused to know it was baby steps around the hall). His eyes smile above his oxygen mask, and he chuckles. I smile back and keep baby stepping to my bed.
I’m now lying here. Pain is no smooth sailing. Nurse recommended dose of painkillers and I conceded (if you know me, you know I try to limit those). I’m waiting for meds to kick in, I’m eager to talk to doctor about what happened yesterday and discuss the sciatic pain I still have (is this phantom pain given nerve is still healing?), but most of all I’m grateful and hopeful.
Grateful to be alive. Grateful for modern medicine. Grateful for countless acts of kindness I’ve noticed in just 48 hours in the hospital.
Hopeful my surgery went well and I’ll fully recover. Hopeful my roommate gets back to breathing properly and dropping his own dad jokes with loved ones soon.

I've been testing my blood sugar at ~1 or 1.5 hours after meals mostly because my doctor said to do it 1-2 hours after eating.
But today, out of sheer curiosity, I decided to check at 2 and 3 hours as well. My 1-hour reading was slightly high, which I wasn't happy about, but I figured I probably just ate slightly too many carbs and I'd adjust to try to get it down for my next meal. Not a huge deal because it's usually not that high.
But at 2 hours it was HIGHER. And at 3 hours it began falling again, but was still higher than my 1-hour reading.
I'm 31 weeks and so far baby hasn't been measuring big or anything, nor have I had signs of any GD related complications. But I'm worried now that my 1-hour readings are misleading. Like even if they're in range, is my 2-3 hour blood sugar always higher like that and I just never knew because I didn't routinely test at that time? Anyone else experience this? It's got me nervous.

My uncle John* (M36) is severely disable due to several physical disabilities. He cannot talk, walk and is now legally blind. He technically has capacity however he is like a teenager and incredibly impressionable. I suspect he is autistic after being diagnosed with ADHD and waiting for an ASD assessment. My sister and mum (F52) are also awaiting assessments.
John is unable to access his money at the care home due to many excuses so my mum pays for everything which she cannot afford. John is desperate for a new van yet he cannot even get money for a phone contract.
Mum and John agreed to apply for power of attorney (POA) however this has been blocked by the care home manager, who we recently found from other resident families has been done for financial fraud in the past and has now left. They called safeguarding on my mum and insinuated she was financially abusing John. The new manager has taken the same stance.
He has thousands of pounds from his last care home due to over payments and we are worried this has been taken or that he will lose this if he doesn’t spend it soon on the van he wants (if you have too much funds benefits will take it).
We fear that POA being blocked due to covering financial fraud because money has gone missing from his account and they are shady and never give him money. This care home is known for being in debt and are now closing. We want to move him close to us but fear they will also block this.
Supporting evidence: my mum found a black check that she worked out was cashed for £500 from a bank statement lying around in his room.
Despite Jacob being incredibly vulnerable due to his disabilities, he was called into multiple meetings with the care home manager, social worker and safeguarding team.
They do not know his signs, mum ask if the manager know what he was signing and she couldn’t tell mum. They are blocking family from these meetings due to safeguarding so we cannot assist him in communications. He needs and independent advocate during these meetings at least.
They tell us that he has said no to the POA yet when he is with us he said that he does want it and they’re lying. Mum is in a thousand pound of debt in legal fees as John was supposed to pay her back when POA goes through. Now she is stuck unable to pay her rent and considering moving into a van.
John and my mum were physically abused as children from Johns dad, we always knew he was a people pleaser because of this. Now I’ve been diagnosed I’m wondering if he is autistic and this is why he’s so easily manipulated by the care home and doesn’t understand that if mum isn’t POA then he will continue to have no access!
In the assessment they ask ‘do you want your sister to have control of your money’ he takes the word control literally and thinks hell no! Without realising that it means is going to help him access it, I don’t think he can read between the lines and understand the consequences. They are either not explaining it properly or portraying her as taking his money for herself and cannot see their intentions.
We cannot afford any more legal fees, can we go to the police to get them to investigate or will they direct us to solicitors?
Should we fight his capacity if he is autistic because it doesn’t seem that he understands. It’s so hard to assess when he cannot talk and has been institutionalised!
We love him dearly and just want to make his life better, he has all this money yet he’s sat in old clothes with nothing to do starting into space all day! He loves gardening and woodwork and needs a new van so we can take him out with his girlfriend! We worry he will be rehoused 4 hours away like last time! We have found a perfect place but fear they will block it!
We are both struggling from the stress and are neurodivergent so struggling to know how to navigate this!! Please help!!

Hey total beginner here working on my second project which is going moderately well. It is a bookshelf. I wanted to lay some molding at the base of the bookshelf for a decorative look. I tried a few tricks to get a 45 degree cut so that i could wrap the edge with miter joints, but i don't have the right tools and i kept messing it up. I got frustrated and moved in haste and just laid down the molding perpendicular, without any special cut to cleanly wrap around the corners. Now i'm feeling frustrated and am wondering if there is any little hack that can help me fake the appearance of a miter joint or make it look cleaner. Was thinking about some idea with wood fille wood glue to fill in the small gap between the 2 pieces of wood at the joint. has anyone encountered a thoughtful solution for this?
