I need to put a handrail up in my house for the stairs, there was one previously but it looks like it's been torn off at some point and I want to tidy it up. The bottom bracket is ok in a cinch but would replace it if I can, the top one is a mangled stub and needs removing.
Is there a way I can get this out of the wall or is my best bet to angle grind it down, can I even grind it down enough to plaster over and make it flat? I've never used one before but I have access to one. It's a terrace house and the wall adjoins another house so I don't want to do anything that would risk damaging the wall also.

Schedule: 6.30-7.30am awake 3 hours later nap (only sleeps 30 mins so I’ll have to resettle so he can sleep another 30 mins) 3.5 hours later nap (same thing as morning nap) 3 hours later bed time Total day sleep 2-2.5 hours
Needs to be patted in cot to fall asleep/resettled. Been waking every 30 minutes for 8 weeks now. Have resulted to co sleeping at night and sometimes during the day. Used to be able to self soothe and sleep for 3 hour blocks.
I Dont know what to do, i feel like a failure of a mother. Spent $1500 on sleep trainers.

I've been using barefoot shoes now for 8 months straight -- although I rarely go outside nowadays --- and I realized that there are occassions that I prefer minimalist shoes over barefoot shoes.
What I mean by "minimalist":

1. Soles or cushioning thinner than regular sneakers but thicker than barefoot shoes. I'm thinking something like Altra Escalante (2.0).
2. Wide toebox, or extra wide, if possible. The Xero shoes that I have are wide enough most of the time but I feel like I can still go wider, especially when my feet swells up while walking for around 20K steps.
3. Zero-drop. Minimal drop is also fine if it means I can get 1 and 2.

I was originally thinking Altras but I think they are not wide enough anymore. My toe splay have since become wider when I started using barefoot shoes.

Hello. Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but would like to know if there are any suggestions for a software to put down some ideas for a house layout/design just for the visual look.
This means creating a 3D view of outside and inside, with furniture, miscellaneous objects, etc, to get a feel how something may look like and try different variations.
Without meticulous CAD-like design with measurements and drawing each little line everywhere.
Ideally a software where you can drag and drop walls, place windows, doors, roofs, furniture, etc.
Would it be possible to also use real maps location view as a background to create this on, and with real sunlight angles based on location?
I have some previous experience with mechanical CAD drawing tools such as Fusion360 and little bit of SketchUp, but not for this type of stuff. I wouldn't prefer to use SketchUp, since it's too deep into drawing line by line and not 'drag and drop' style with realistic visuals.
Any suggestions what might suit my idea in this case? Thanks.

I'm currently looking to purchase a machine dedicated to running machine learning tasks 24/7. At the moment, I already have an i5 NUC and an old Pi 3, which handle various services for my house. However, for my machine learning needs, I have my eyes on the Orin NX 16 in the form factor of a reComputer j4012.
Considering the price (around €900), I'm wondering if there are more cost-effective options available that can provide better performance. I don't plan to utilize the Orin's other features, such as the io pins, so the form factor and low power consumption are the main factors attracting me to it.
In terms of applications, my goal is to experiment with local language models (LLMs) and work on a few machine learning projects that I have in mind.
So, my question is whether I can build a more powerful machine within a budget of €900, potentially using an ITX form factor, combined with a GeForce GPU that offers enough VRAM for machine learning tasks. I'm particularly interested in knowing if such a build could outperform the Orin NX.

Hey reddit, recently got into PCVR and remembered Minecraft mod for VR exists. Installed 1.12 version, tried to run it, but it doesnt want to run. When i press "Play" in launcher, it starts to launch, but then crashes without even launching MC with code -1. No crash report is being generated.
For context: i use Pico 4 VR headset with cable and streaming assistant. I use Steam VR as hub, and other games like beatsaber and No Mans Sky are working perfectly. Also, minecraft works just fine on flat screen, the issue seems to appear only with vivecraft

Hello everyone, I've been granted €1000 in funding to invest in a camera for my workplace, which is a youth center. The camera I'm looking for should meet certain requirements:

Hey all. Today got a friend request on LinkedIn from a a Chinese gal claiming to be the owner of a shoe factory in China and having lived in Thailand, blah blah. I recognized it for a Pig Butcher immediately (the photo was some model, I found from reverse image search). She (or he) claims to own this factory (name was posted in Mandarin but I checked it out) but she didn’t. LinkedIn flagged her company as not confirmed by LI. There was a company by that name, but didn’t list her as owner. She offered to meet me for coffee in my city in four months despite me telling her we had no business reason to meet (I don’t buy women’s shoes) and the. She suggested I give her my WhatsApp or Line ID. No chance I was doing that. She wouldn’t agree to keep line’s open on LinkedIn to chat. She started telling me about financial investments so I tried to get her to tell me more but cleverly, she avoided that because she knew she would get the boot from LinkedIn. Her account was a professional account too so for sure she doesn’t want to lose that. Her company listed 5 employees of which three were already blocked accounts. The other one was live and a male picture, presumably used to scam females. I believe she/he is using LinkedIn to qualify suckers and then passing the WhatsApp ansd Line accounts to the lower levels scam teams. Her scam account is Serena Yvette (a very Chinese name). This is the first time they have tried LinkedIn for scamming me anyway. Anyone else seen this approach?

I dont know why I keep coming here to write, I think it just feels better to get things off my chest
My precious dog died 2 months ago, and i’ve been suffering with the feelings that I was a bad owner and neglected him in ways. I never ever would have thought that I was a neglectful owner, we all loved him so much. He was 16, turning 17 in august, and he ended up dying from heart failure.
But the signs were there for at least 5 months (if I had to guess), and i dont know why we all overlooked them. Like I actually dont know what was wrong with me, I had rocks for brains. He had a constant cough (a few times a day we would hear him cough), and I remember the first time we heard him coughing we just assumed it was kennel cough. But we have a second dog and he never ended up catching anything (kennel cough is highly contagious) and he continued to cough so we brought him to the vet asking if it was anything more serious.
The vet checked his heart and lungs with a stethoscope, and touched around his throat (i guess to check for tracheal collapse?) and said everything seemed fine and he wasnt too worried, but it was up to us if we wanted to go with further testing. We asked could he be coughing just because he’s old and overweight? he said could be, but we wont know exactly unless we do further testing. I dont know why, but I took comfort in those words that he ‘wasnt too worried’, so the panic subsided. I dont know why we never followed up on it with more tests when we weren’t even opposed to it. I didn’t care about the money. A blood test would have been such an easy thing to do, I wish he had brought that up on the spot. I’ve always needed people to tell me what to do, and when he left it up to us, I ended up being passive about it.
That was in early december, and more than 3 months go by where we never went again for a check up even though i’m sure we had discussed it. I feel like my mum was a huge part in why we didn’t, I think in some ways she gas lighted me into thinking it was just because he was ‘old’. She would always say that, and I used to counter argue her saying what did she even mean by that, but she was very stubborn in her thoughts. I should have been stronger, not cared what she thought. Especially because she had been proven wrong before (long story short - our other dog was starting to sometimes leak pee when he walked and she amounted it to him being ‘old’ and just starting to become incontent, turns out he actually had a tumour which we had to remove). I know my mum loved him a lot, but she still had some very old views. At the end of the day, I am still very much at blame because I should have known better.
I just can’t believe I became so used to his coughs, I became desensitised to them. I keep telling myself, if I had known the severity of the issue, there’s no way I wouldn’t have gone again. But I dont understand why I didn’t know? I knew he was old, and surely he was bound to get problems. But I had these rose tinted glasses on, I thought he could live until he was 20, I thought it would be more obvious when a dog is sick and dying soon. He still enjoyed walks, eating, drinking etc
But I look back at videos from the last couple months, and the signs seems so so obvious now. He was getting much more tired and out of breath from short walks (I had noticed this but again amounted it to him mainly needing to lose weight, and naturally losing stamina as he got older), and I could even hear him wheezing a bit and being out of breath when I was just rubbing his belly or when he was getting excited for a walk. I just feel so stupid.
If I ever felt that he was suffering, I would have brought him in. But now i’m just scared that I missed the signs. Why wasn’t I more attentive, more observant and understanding of him growing old and developing severe health issues.
The very frustrating thing is that me and my sisters had finally brought it up again that final week that we should take him again. I had a whole 9 days since the time we discussed to call the vet, and yet I didn’t. I dont know why I can never do things straight away, why I always have to have some ‘time’ to do things. But I didnt sense the urgency, I never ever would have guessed he would pass away the next week. He also would have had his yearly check up in only 4 or 5 weeks time
On the day he died, his coughing had gotten much worse suddenly and he started lifting his head up and acting strange so we took him to the emergency. An x ray revealed an enlarged heart, we were given some medicine but 8 hours later he died. By the time we realised, it was too late. I let him down so bad, I failed him so bad. If I had only known, I would have better prepared on what to expect, I would have known that euthanasia was the best option that night. Now my poor angel had to suffer
Now a simple trip to the vet seems so easy, we should have just gone. All those days we had the chance to and yet we didn’t. I hate the way I am - so passive, so lazy, I let myself get self absorbed in my life and my job. I dont even recognise myself, younger me would be so so disappointed in myself. I thought I always took to heart how animals can’t talk and you need to be extra observant, and yet when it really mattered I became lax. I had never experienced death before (I only just turned 22) and this was just such a huge wake up call. This is now my third time taking my other dog to the vet in less than 2 months, because I’m so worried and paranoid after what happened.
If you’ve read this far, I just wanted to ask if reading this we came off as really neglectful and cruel owners? it’s just been eating away at me because I feel if I had read this about someone else, I would have judged them strongly. I just can’t live with the fact that thats me, im the neglectful owner. I dont know how i’m supposed to move on
