However, it's important to keep in mind that it takes time and consistent effort to build an audience, establish trust with your followers, and generate significant income.

2023.03.24 13:06 Andrea_Crook The Ethics of Space Exploration
With the first launch of Sputnik to the most recent Mars rover mission, space exploration has caught the attention of humanity for years. Yet as we continue to push the limits of what is practical in space, we also face a number of ethical concerns regarding the worth and dangers of these endeavours.
The morality of spending enormous quantities of money on space missions when there are so many urgent needs on Earth, such as poverty, sickness, and environmental damage, is one of the basic concerns presented by space exploration. The billions of dollars spent on space exploration, according to critics, would be better used to solve these pressing problems, and ultimately, the desire for knowledge and adventure in space is a luxury that only developed nations can afford.
Yet, proponents of space travel contend that the advantages of deepening our knowledge of the cosmos and creating new discoveries and breakthroughs exceed the drawbacks. They point out that the space programme has produced some of the most significant technological advancements of the last century, ranging from satellite communications to medical imaging, and that maintaining investment in space exploration is crucial for fostering advancement and innovation in industries like energy, transportation, and medicine.
Who owns and controls resources in space is another significant ethical dilemma brought up by space exploration. Who would have the right to claim, for instance, precious minerals or water found on distant planets or asteroids? Should they be managed and owned privately instead than being considered as the collective legacy of humanity? Private space venture proponents contend that enabling businesses to profit from space resources would spur innovation and economic progress, but opponents are concerned that this strategy may worsen inequality and result in exploitation.
In the end, space exploration ethics are intricate and varied, necessitating careful deliberation on the parts of decision-makers, scientists, and the general public. We must be mindful of the ethical ramifications of our actions as we continue to explore and broaden our horizons in space and work to ensure that our efforts are guided by the values of justice, accountability, and respect for all life forms.

2023.03.24 12:45 -Angilas- WIKIPEDIA Consultancy Scam (i.e. preying on vanity)
So here's an interesting scam that seems to be making the rounds.
This scam is very subtle, because some sites
do seem to offer a legitimate variant.
Basically, certain websites appear to be
claiming they can win anyone notoriety by offering to write Wikipedia pages for exorbitant sums of money.
Almost Definite Scam Sites
The reasons why this is
almost definitely a scam:
- Wikipedia has a "notability" requirement, which the scam sites do not appear to be addressing. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Notability) This is the reason that neither your Uncle Gus nor your local "Soda/BeeLotto Tickets Store" will likely have a Wikipedia page for longer than a few hours.
- What these sites claim to be offering seems to be subtly exploiting the public's misunderstanding of how Wikipedia even works. In reality, so long as a subject has sufficient "notability", a Wikipedia page can be written (for free) and should be able to remain up indefinitely.
- We can see that there are already people who have been duped by these shady activities (here are some complaints about Wiki Creators LLC): https://www.sitejabber.com/reviews/wikicreatorsllc.com#11 https://www.sitejabber.com/reviews/wikicreatorsllc.com#17 https://www.trustpilot.com/review/wikicreatorsllc.com?stars=1
- We can also see a more serious complaint was actually filed with the Better Business Bureau here: https://www.bbb.org/us/ca/oakland/profile/writewikicreators-llc-1116-934772/complaints Note that even though this one has been marked "resolved", it does not indicate the actual service was ultimately provided and that only once this case was escalated to this degree was there ostensibly an attempt to placate complainant.
Less-Likely a Scam
That being said, there
are professional services out there that are far less "scammy". These services do inform their clients of the "
notability" requirement, thereby not duping the general public into thinking they can simply
spend X amount of dollars to instantly gain notoriety.
This version of the service — ostensibly legitimate — appears to be geared towards individuals/businesses of already sufficient "
notability" who are looking to make sure their pages are properly maintained.
The only kinda iffy thing here is the potential for a relatively chonky fee for simply
checking "
notability", but still... I would expect this to be within tolerances for real consulting 😅
Why this matters.
When a close family member of mine recently received an email solicitation from Wiki Solutions LLC and I saw him immediately convinced into thinking that
having a Wikipedia page created for anyone was a legitimate business model, and — in his mind — of course the "price" of such a page would be understandably expensive, I realized that this scam was far more convincing and caustic than it seemed at face value.
When I had my wealth of evidence — both self-evident as in the case of Wikipedia's "
notability" policy and also the wealth of people complaining about the scammy behavior of one of the sites in question — I contacted their host to see if they could simply address the situation quietly.
The host refused to take action (even when I suggested something as simple as their simply
warning the site owner about the misleading lack of a "notability" clause). The host also appeared to keep moving the bar a bit further for what it would require to take action, and where we left off was them requiring a "police report". It seemed as though the host was doing all it could to prevent losing a sure revenue stream, so that was a bit alarming (although understandable from a coldly transactional standpoint; after all, I'm sure plausible deniability is a heck of a drug).
Although it is possible the host simply got duped by the believability of this scam too. That's why I've come
here. This scam doesn't even seem to have a name yet, that's why I went with something safe and dry like the "
Wikipedia Consultancy Scam". But it does appear to be a real scam, and a bit more believable than other similar scams. It's in a similar vein as a
Modeling Scam, a
Who's-Who Scam, or a
Vanity Award Scam... it preys on the vanity and lack of savviness of the victim.
Please keep your eyes out for this.

2023.03.24 12:36 Flaky-Condition7922 What are the terms of eviction?
I'm from Illinois
So basically I'm in a dangerous situation I need to remove myself from. I'm a 2nd year college student without any student housing staying with a very unhygienic father (found cockroaches in his apartment last year when I returned from college), he is also extremely rude and demeaning towards me and he has a coffee shop which is failing terribly, he makes less than $5 dollars from it some days.
By the end of February, we were supposed to be evicted from this this apartment (he only told me that the day before the eviction btw) and I saved him by giving him part of the rent (I receive a stipend and I saved quite a bit of it), that put massive financial strain on me and since I'm a student that HAS to be at school, travelling to the school every week (though I don't go everyday) has also put massive financial strain on me.
Now, he obviously doesn't have enough money to pay rent and I am running out of money at a ridiculous rate. I clearly have to remove myself from this situation but I can't do that any time this month, it doesn't help that housing on campus is full (and there's no way I can get accepted at off campus accommodation).
I just want to know, if he doesn't pay rent this month, how long until he gets evicted. Can he even get evicted immediately or is the landlord only allowed to give an eviction notice next month, and if that's the case, can it only be done near month end (April) or after he doesn't pay March's rent (he also has not paid January's rent, only a part of February's thanks to me). Thank you, I would really appreciate some input. I seriously need it. Also I don't live in the US, I just want some general advice if that's possible (my country's legal advice sub is dead).

2023.03.24 12:30 Upstairs-Scene-1915 Dear R
The yellow monstrosity that is my step sister's car and a house party on wheels just barreled past me and down the drive. I had just put our oldest on the bus, discussing on the way whether or not the strays stationed in the back are in fact, pittie mixed breeds or boxer mutts. We couldn't decide, but he had a clever choice of word play pertaining to the burnt sienna one, Tybee, and how he was a "pretty pittie". I blindly groped on my newly built deck for a Newport Red clip, popped it into my mouth and waved feebly in my step sib's direction. "It's early," I groaned aloud , seeing that the screen of my phone read: 6:10 a.m.
2 and a half hours of sleep, nothing in my stomach, and I was low on my battery life. The instant coffee tasted like week old decaf. I felt myself grimace as mechanically I swallowed the muddy swill entering the kitchen and trying to wake up . My limbs felt stiff and paralyzed from the uncomfortable position I'd sat in for hours, scrolling through the magical world of Reddit. Worry gnawed at the edges of my skull: was the toilet gasket in need of repair or was the valve cracked ? What was the easiest way to tackle the nest of ancient cobwebs crawling with daddy long legs beneath the cabinets ? How much would replacing the warped and lopsided table in the back room cost? Was my mother nickle and diming me to death again?
I was in no mood to vacuum the loose debris on the carpeted floor using a 30 dollar vacuum that had a panic attack each time I pressed on. The leaking toilet suffusing the confines of my bathroom with stagnant sewer scent practically made me gag everytime I went. My fear of blind spiders with stilt like legs did not inspire any form of motivation to vacuum them up. I feared they would return with an army of other spiders, related to their kind that could actually bite. Still, I knew I had to continue moving forward. Sure, I grew tired of rearranging books, toys, and the like. I sure as hell was sick to death of my mother's endless stream of criticism . I had grown weary of interacting with my stepfather due to his lack of emotional regulation and tendency to blow up on others' without a moment's notice.
My stepsister sending her partner over right before the kid's bedtime a few evenings ago so my stepsister could spend some time in her darkened room cuddling MY baby left a lot to be desired. I practically shivered with disgust as her partner attempted to hand off a mixed drink to me, as if plying me with liquor(when I'm an alcoholic and have an abhorrent hate for spiced rum) would change my mind. Sure, let me hand you my ten month old because my stepsister is mentally ill and trying to reclaim a lost part of the opportunity she missed out on raising her own daughter. Psych! Our oldest also had just finished bathing and felt left out. "Can I come to?" He asked sweetly. I ruffled his damp gold head and explained to him that his brother was not going to be watched by my sketchy step sister.
We watched "Bluey " a majority of last night and I felt bubbles of happiness stir within me. I usually put the kiddos down around 6 or 6:30 but because I waited until nearly 7:30, our youngest slept through the entire night. Our oldest busied himself drawing with the new metallic markers I bought him, while his little brother crawled around and I tried not to panic, anticipating the chance he might put something in his mouth like a dead leaf that had blown in from outside.
You would never guess my step-dad issued a barrage of curse words in my presence the other morning with the calm demeanor he greeted me by. He kept to himself tending to errands he was forever indebted to while I went for a drive with my mother and tried to forget the nasty comments he made behind my back. All day my mother was just edgy. Her uptight nature caused panic and anxiety to consume me. It didn't help that she still interfere with my parenting, that she thought I was absent minded was nothing new- yet the alarming rate with which she reminded me of x, and y or asked if I remembered to do this and that drove me nuts.
I had to hold back every unpleasant , and biting retort I felt like voicing aloud in order to maintain the delicate balance that existed between her and I. I was not keen on being screamed at. She was very vocal when it came to pointing out my flaws. "You need to get it together, " she often snapped. "And I don't like that you're back on those meds. " you mean the ones that are literally enabling me to function like a normal member of society right now? Again as frustrated as I was that my mother failed to understand the depths of what it meant to have Generalized Anxiety Disorder or PPD, what I chose to take for panic attacks was none of her business but between I and the doctor who prescribed it to me.
Her husband could rant and rave until he was blue in the face about how lazy I was or what a bad mother I could be because I used a little too much screen time. Because sometimes, I drifted into the fog of mom burnout, anticipating the old days in which I could comfortably nap without being harassed or read without worrying about the piercing cry of our youngest making me jump out of my skin. Those days were also rife with blackouts, binge drinking marathons, a revolving door of rehabs and inpatients , you living on the streets and shooting poison into your veins, as I watched helplessly from afar; rocking our firstborn to sleep and crying into my pillow.
Those days are long behind me, I'd like to think. I'm much more willing to work toward rebuilding myself from the ground up. I'm more focused on treasuring moments spent with my boys' who are my world than I am entertaining my mother's own insecurities she projects onto me. When the sky deepens to that periwinkle hue, I find comfort playing the underwater lullaby on my phone to get our baby to bed and my mind to shut off. I lose myself in the sounds of light piano, flowing water, as birds cry out in the distance.
Maybe, I'm on a sand bar somewhere, the sting of salt spraying my face. Waves froth and foam at the shoreline. I watch the sky bleed out, a fire sunset, perched on the slope of a dark Grey jetty. It's escaping, using the endless lengths of my imagination , meditating , that allows me to continue to thrive . I thank God I haven't lost my cool yet. I thank God the hurtful comments I'm overflowing during the heat of the moment never make it past my lips. Instead, I write to you. Every word I pen brings me some degree of clarity.
I love you so much. I miss you everyday that you're gone. I FEEL your absence. I regret not saying more or being harder on you. But, there's nothing I can do to alter what was meant to be. I have a better chance now than I ever did when you were alive to make something of my life.

2023.03.24 12:30 MTG_Collage Advices for a environmental scientist building up a GIS carreer
Hey there!
I'm new here on the community and relatively new to the GIS field (only 2 years of experience strictly in GIS), i've a bachelor's degree on Environmental Science by the university of Brasília, Brazil but has only recently been introducted in 100% GIS works, the real focus of my bachelor were about solid waste, a field wich has really many applications for GIS analysis.
I've been working on 2 really simple freelance GIS projects that the leader of my team catched on Upwork, and it's really better for me here in brazil to be working on international projects, not only by been paid on dollar (wich is a live saver to us here), but for the experience in dealing with worldwide jobs and the improvement of my communication skills in other languages.
I'd like to ask you guys some advices for me who's heading into this world of remote international GIS jobs (not only remote, but preferably), and still learning GIS in general, i'm not an expert but willing to be and at the moment i've bought a good and long GIS course that goes until the intro of Pyhton and R programming and willing for better jobs after it. As an environmental scientist i love this tools and their reach for really good analysis for researches and studies, but beyond that, as a third world man i'd like to explore this tecnical habilities wich are of cross-use for growing up my carreer and help my family with some money, while the situation is not that great at the moment.
I know it's an really open question but i'd like to hear what you've got to say, if you got something to say!

2023.03.24 10:21 Vegetable-Cobbler734 Is Nvidia still a buy? The GTC conference unveiled new hardware and software that brings great potential!
| https://preview.redd.it/sx0hvg95onpa1.jpg?width=463&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cdb71dcbc1cc569d74ff1f7d3f5bfdfde9bcb4e6 At the GTC, Silicon Valley's largest artificial intelligence event, Nvidia's founder CEO, Jen-Hsun Huang, showed the world his determination to march into AI and showcase a series of king-size products. Because there are too many professional terms involved, even if you are from science and technology, watching the video will also be a bit overwhelming, so I spent a long time to figure out how to use more simple and easy to understand words to explain to you, and analyze each new technology will bring what good impact for Nvidia in the future? After all, Wall Street institutions love it when companies have a steady stream of new stories, just like Tesla, where the number of stories and the stock price are often directly proportional. https://preview.redd.it/nqnsc169mnpa1.png?width=626&format=png&auto=webp&s=c6980be23ed1359bd46624b966770ef3b08870c4 At NVIDIA GTC 2023, Jen-Hsun Huang, still wearing his signature leather jacket, gave a keynote speech while standing in front of the vertical green wall located at NVIDIA's headquarters. The presentation focused almost entirely on artificial intelligence. The highlight of the whole GTC conference - Launch of ChatGPT's dedicated GPU, H100 NVL with dual GPU NVLink.
https://preview.redd.it/n6t2rkedmnpa1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=39229641d2db08d8a566c49ed7ceba724a037b9a The benefits are simple and straightforward: faster and lower cost. How faster: A standard server with four pairs of H100 and NVLINK can process 10 times faster than the HGX A100 for GPT-3 processing. According to the website, the H100's combined technical innovations It is possible to increase the speed of large language models by 30 times. Ontology reduction now: H100 can reduce the cost of processing large language models by an order of magnitude. In a sense, computational cost has become the core issue hindering the development of generative AI today, and OpenAI has burned billions, if not tens of billions of dollars for this reason, and Microsoft has never opened the new Bing to the wider public for cost reasons, even limiting the number of conversations users can have per day. https://preview.redd.it/d5gho9ahmnpa1.png?width=656&format=png&auto=webp&s=fd83b7b22523da785d9a8d0068dfc86f9ca73a6c NVIDIA is launching a more efficient arithmetic solution at this time, which is undoubtedly a big problem for the industry to solve. In fact, Huang has repeatedly said he has seen the development potential of the AI industry 10 years ago, as well as the decisive role of GPU for AI. Nvidia is precisely optimistic about this, only to throw its weight behind the development of GPU products more suitable for AI. OpenAI launched GPT-1 in 2018 with just under 120 million parameters, while GPT-3, the last one to announce its number of parameters, has 175 billion, and while some experts believe that ChatGPT and GPT-4 have potentially smaller numbers of parameters, most voices in the industry believe that more powerful models assume this larger parameter size and consume more computing power. OpenAI has published information that thousands of NVIDIA V100 GPUs were used to train the previous generation of GPT-3, and research firm TrendForce reported that GPT-3 used around 20,000 NVIDIA A100 GPUs for training, and that the number of GPUs needed for commercialization of ChatGPT will be over 30,000. will reach over 30,000 GPUs when ChatGPT is commercialized. Such a large number of parametric operations means that ChatGPT needs powerful arithmetic to support its training and deployment, and the arithmetic depends on the underlying chips. Chips, especially GPUs, CPUs, FPGAs, and custom high-performance chips, are the "core underlying power" behind ChatGPT and other potential AI chatbots. DGX Cloud: Bringing AI to Every Enterprise As an early practitioner of the computing industry Huang Renxun witnessed the development of this industry for 40 years, his technology is getting closer and closer to everyone, but we also see the higher the threshold of computer programming, forming an invisible technical gap, so that most ordinary people are getting farther and farther away from programming, but also let many traditional industries do not really use digital technology to enjoy the benefits of arithmetic progress. This time, Nvidia whole a big job is to "ChatGPT same model" moved to the cloud, open to the public. The DGX Cloud is an AI supercomputing cloud service, and you know how invincible it is just by hearing the word "super". It is characterized by the ease of handling high-load computing work, in addition to Nvidia also sells services to expand the scale and influence of Nvidia. But the price is not beautiful, enterprise customers can rent $36,999 per month. https://preview.redd.it/24k9mh9qmnpa1.png?width=1080&format=png&auto=webp&s=48f9b35d16ff7f6506630d0bcb81aa00612fe3e8 DGX Cloud provides support from NVIDIA experts throughout the AI development process. Customers can work directly with NVIDIA engineers, tune their models to the best possible state, and quickly solve development challenges in a variety of industry use cases. In 2016, Huang hand-delivered the first DGX supercomputer to OpenAI, and seven years later, the DGX Cloud gives top-notch AI computing power to every company to accomplish tasks that were previously impossible. It is easy to imagine that advanced applications like ChatGPT, which can improve human communication and increase work efficiency, will continue to emerge, bringing more convenience and surprises to our lives. https://preview.redd.it/bq2he3qtmnpa1.png?width=656&format=png&auto=webp&s=cfe093deac977f4f6b952bbf24e1141f9d163fcc ChatGPT I myself think, from the bottom of my heart, is a really, really great thing, and the amazing thing is that everyone has a different reason to use it, and everyone finds it very INTERESTING, and that's its charm. Summarize articles, write code, tax returns, write poetry, but also from a chart to see the laughing point, so powerful that you fine drop jaw, although it can not do some things today, but the future are possible to achieve! ChatGPT appeared for the artificial intelligence industry is equivalent to the iPhone in the field of cell phones, which I think the old Huang said a good point! Everyone can take the idea of mobile computing and bring it together into one product, and we see a product that everyone likes, whether you are a farmer, a doctor, a nurse, a front-line worker, an assistant, a travel agent, or a small business, a restaurant owner, it doesn't matter, everyone is a programmer, isn't it? And it's ChatGPT's terrific that's bound to make Nvidia terrific later! So how good is Nvidia now? First, the most intuitive market value to give you a comparison: at present, Nvidia market value of $ 653.8 billion, has been nearly six times the market value of Intel, and than Tesla market value is almost $ 50 billion. Nvidia in the AI data center GPU field almost no competition, controlling 90% of the market, competition in the AI acceleration chip market with a partial monopoly position, all the core chips of artificial intelligence, can not be separated from Nvidia. Nvidia's chip is indeed cattle, ChatGPT in the entire planet can not find a replacement chip, from the egg theory, without Nvidia's chip and large model training, there will be no ChatGPT. Nvidia's AI supercomputer DGX is the engine behind the big model of language, DGX has become a necessary tool in the field of AI, so the development and prospects of artificial intelligence are dependent on what Nvidia can upgrade its own chip to. In addition, NVIDIA also released a breakthrough computational lithography technology manufactured with 2nm chips - NVIDIA cuLitho computational lithography library. Computational lithography is the largest computational workload in chip design and manufacturing, consuming tens of billions of CPU hours per year. cuLitho can increase the speed of computational lithography up to 40 times faster. Previously, it took chip makers two weeks to process a single mask board, while running cuLitho on a GPU took only eight hours. Currently, the world's largest fab TSMC, the world's largest lithographer manufacturer Asmac (ASML), the world's largest EDA company Synopsys (SNPS) will use this new technology. ny one of the above pulled out, can achieve a unicorn enterprise, and so many awesome technology collection together, it is not just a unicorn, but a technology carrier, it is no wonder that Nvidia can grow so fast. It can be said that Nvidia constructs the infrastructure of artificial intelligence, it is an artificial intelligence infrastructure builder, but also a pioneer in research and development. NVIDIA released a set of hardware and software facilities that allow customers to use AI applications faster and easier, standing behind more startups to provide services. Especially ChatGPT Business emerged to accelerate the commercialization of AI on the ground, NVIDIA is facing an immense cake, on the other hand, AI will also bring disruption to the current industry. It is reported that Adobe is working with NVIDIA to build a whole set of next-generation Al for future creative work; Shutterstock is also working with NVIDIA to train a generative text-to-3D conversion base model to simplify the creation of detailed 3D assets. Jen-Hsun Huang through this launch is to tell everyone that generative AI brings this wave, everyone must participate or be eliminated. What's even crueler is that you can only participate through our products, because in the GPU space, I have no rivals! Nvidia is so expensive, why is the market still bullish? There is no doubt that Nvidia is one of the most expensive technology stocks on the planet, with a P/E ratio of 139x under GAAP and a book value of 27x. We combed through the data and found that within the past year, Nvidia's revenue growth rate was 0.22% and earnings growth rate was -54%, and revenue has declined in the last two quarters and is expected to decline year-over-year in the first quarter of this year - which doesn't match its stock price surge trend, ah. The price-to-sales ratio looks to have come to 23.9 https://preview.redd.it/ff7oodj4nnpa1.png?width=472&format=png&auto=webp&s=b2e97d1a30590e27e70b80b179a56dcb83cf45e4 And AMD only 6.51 https://preview.redd.it/ghetfoj6nnpa1.png?width=493&format=png&auto=webp&s=b63da55fad75beef1a4bafde91b4d6451dd2cb09 With the huge wave of AI, NVIDIA's dominant position leads to high valuation. It is worth noting that with the transformation of Nvidia, their business focus is no longer the game graphics business, but the data center, AI, high-performance computing and software business, while data center revenue growth rate is also much higher than the game business, and will continue to maintain this trend development in the future, so the world's demand for AI and computing power in the future will again drive the growth of Nvidia's performance. NVIDIA's market position in the data center is rock solid. Whether rival AMD, or is entering into layoffs and pay cuts, the executive exodus storm Intel, can not compete more quickly 90% of the share in the hands of Nvidia, with its direct chip competition. Therefore, Wall Street generally believes that Nvidia is somewhat similar to the Dutch lithography giant ASML: a partial monopoly, no competition at the high end of the market - one of the key factors for all investors bullish on Nvidia stock. Investment firm Baird believes "meaningful" orders are coming in for ChatGPT, and helped NVIDIA raise its data center revenue estimates for the second half of the year. We believe that although there is a lot of capital speculation in this recent AI boom, there is no doubt that the emergence of ChatGPT does allow ordinary consumers to see AI start to truly integrate into our lives, which will also accelerate future enterprise investment in AI, only in the next year or two during the period of high economic uncertainty, enterprises may not have a large capital expenditure for the time being. But for the long term, the investment in AI infrastructure and equipment will certainly be one of the biggest catalysts for Nvidia's future. submitted by Vegetable-Cobbler734 to Burystocks [link] [comments] |
2023.03.24 09:51 GeekUSA1979 (20M) I quit today, feel like a failure
Hi all,
I quit my casual retail job today.
I was hired as a seasonal casual worker over the Christmas period. I was given quite a good amount over that period, but almost as soon as Christmas ended, I have been getting no hours.
I was given a contract at the end of the Christmas period to stay on indefinitely as a casual. That was over a month ago, almost two months now.
I have to admit, I'm not the best worker, at least I don't think I am. That might be my incredibly low self-esteem talking though, im not sure. Almost every second of working I feel like I'm f*cking up. For the first couple of months, I was generally worried that my existence at work cost the company millions of dollars each shift. That feeling left but I still felt terrible. I just wasn't able to work as quick as they wanted me to, not that I wasnt trying to go as fast as possible, but still wasnt quick enough. I was actually surprised i wasnt fired. When i got the contract i was incredibly surprised, I barely talk to anyone at work, as i find it difficult to be sociable to anyone besides my group of friends that ive had for years. And as i said, im pretty sure i was a bad worker for them so i was surprised they offered me a contract.
Anyway, today was my first shift in over a month since signing that contract. It was a 3.5HR shift, the minimum amount of hours they can give you per shift. I wasnt really putting in any effort, knowing that i wasnt looking to be there much longer. I was on checkouts today, i actually enjoy doing checkouts, i love interacting with customers.
But after the customer numbers died down, i was told to organise the ladies clothing. I hadnt done it before and i was pretty crap at it because ive literally only probably folded about 5 clothes in my 20 year life, as im a guy who just shoves them in my cupboard. So i didnt really know how to fold all of the clothes as they have different techniques and some of the clothing types i had never seen before because they were womens. Anyway my junior manager had to show me a few times how to do it and made it pretty clear it was pissing her off how i didnt know how to fold lol. Her getting pissed off at me made me pissed off, so i kinda just kept folding them in a wrong way, as at this point i didnt really care, thats pretty bad but me folding a jumper in a different way than it "needs" to be isnt going to make any difference at all.
After this, i went back to the checkouts, served some more customers, then went to another worker and asked "who do i tell im quitting?", he laughed and said asked if i was serious, i said yeah lol. he said the manager. So i went to the manager and just said "hey is it ok if i quit", and she said yeah sure and i signed a resignation form. I didnt want to be rude and tell them to get effed, as i was appreciative of the opportunity to work there.

2023.03.24 09:10 Aargh9 Insurance that covers past work
Hi, I started a side gig installing smart homes over the past year. I didn’t have general liability insurance but am trying to get it now. I am located in USA. Does anyone know of any insurance that I can pay to cover the last year or two of work? It seems I needed to have had existing insurance for a company to take on the old projects. These are all very small priced projects of a couple hundred dollars. Thanks!

2023.03.24 08:06 DramaticSquare3843 HUB - confidential computing's main G? (DD)
| Background - About HUBC: HUB was established in 2017 by veterans of Israel’s elite intelligence and cyber units. The company specializes in unique Cyber Security solutions protecting sensitive commercial and government information and is a leading confidential computing developer. The company debuted an advanced encrypted computing solution aimed at preventing hostile intrusions at the hardware level while introducing a novel set of data theft prevention solutions. HUB operates in over 30 countries and provides innovative cybersecurity computing appliances as well as a wide range of cybersecurity services worldwide.HUB Security is a standout in the confidential computing market, having gained a strong position among major clients such as the Pentagon, Lockheed Martin, NASA, GE, and HSBC bank with its unique hardware-based HSM solution. In early March, the company listed on the NASDAQ completing a de-SPAC. Since then, HUBC has seen incredibly high trade volumes, alongside being one of the most talked about stocks on the internet (#1 on stocktwits) and one of the most active stocks traded in after hours. Confidential Computing – The Next Big Thing? Confidential computing involves the use of hardware-based security measures to safeguard data while it is being used. This includes the implementation of secure enclaves, which are isolated areas within a computer’s hardware specifically designed to protect sensitive data. Confidential Computing represents a major shift in the way data is protected. Traditional cybersecurity measures primarily focus on protecting data while it is at rest or in transit, but they are less effective at protecting data while it is in use. By closing the security gap, confidential computing offers a more comprehensive approach to data protection. According to Everest Group, the confidential computing market is likely to grow exponentially over the next few years, driven by enterprise cloud and security initiatives. According to Everest’s report, the market for this technology could reach over $54 billion by 2026. https://preview.redd.it/nidpyc5zympa1.png?width=1560&format=png&auto=webp&s=d948f1061e1022f0fe4b2b06a31e21c96b8ac8ce Governmental Cyber Spend Increasing Corporations are not the only ones who are facing the risks of cyber attacks. Governments too are planning to substantially increase spending on cyber security. In fact, The proposed White House budget for 2024 sits at a total of $6.8 trillion and calls for a big investment in tech innovation to keep pace with foreign rivals alongside a bigger budget for the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). Just this month, the white house announced an ambitious national cyber security strategy which would include, among other things, “investing in a resilient future”, which according to the fact sheet would be aimed at reducing systematic technical vulnerabilities and prioritizing cyber research and development for next generation technologies. It seems that confidential computing would play a role in achieving these goals, given its relevance to securing data in all its states, which could be seen as a systematic vulnerability that it is imperative we develop solutions for. If one were to speculate, it seems like HUB Cyber Security in particular could be a relevant candidate given the solutions they are developing in the field. Recent Signals from HUB Just a few days ago the company announced the addition of the former Deputy secretary of defense John C. Rogers to their advisory board, which would likely be helpful in securing further government contracts. According to the announcement “Rogers brings over 25 years of experience… operating at the intersection of technology, security, public policy, and global challenges. He served as the Principal Deputy Assistant and Deputy Assistant Secretary for legislative affairs at the United States Department of Defense and led a billion-dollar mobility company as CEO.“ This comes on top of HUB’s CEO, Uzi Moskowitz, who himself is a former IDF general who is considered a world renowned cyber security expert. HUB is also planning to hold an investor event on March 28th, during which Management will present the company’s business progress, new developments, vision and strategic plans. It also seems that Cathie Wood reinvested in HUB over the past few days after previously holding substantial positions via ARK and IZRL ETF. At the same time, it’s important to mention that HUB is still in its early days and has risen to fame very quickly. While it indeed has reported a pipeline of many exciting deals, there is still uncertainty as to their finality and investors await to see whether or not the company will continue to deliver on its promise. Either way, the confidential computing field seems like one to keep our eyes on. Always do your own research. Not financial advice. submitted by DramaticSquare3843 to HUBC [link] [comments] |

I'm concerned that there are no/very few roles at EA-aligned orgs that don't lead to you feeling like you're working all the time. I feel like I need to be available to community members at all times of the day on everyday of the week as a community builder. Ops people have expressed that they feel they need to be always on call. Many EAs I know work more than 40 hours weekly and some also work on weekends. I want to transition away from what I'm currently doing partially because of this feeling, but it seems like I might not find a role that escapes it.

EDIT: YOUR FANDUEL BET HAS TO SETTLE (The game you bet on must end) BY 11:59pm ET on 3/24 TO QUALIFY FOR THE PROMO. You'll know the promo is live on your Fanduel account if there is an extra one cent next to your deposit. You'll likely have to contact Draftkings support to ensure the promo is active and you're opted in.
Relevant comment from Longbettor: "Fanduel is likely to cap your $5,000 risk-free long bet, that is, limit your wager to a maximum dollar amount that's only shown when you type in "$5000". You should avoid this because only your very first bet is "risk-free". You can look for other games or wait for caps to loosen, but opportunities are slim to place a full $5,000 bet at +300 (1-in-4) odds, maybe just some NBA games when they're about to start. But, there's a way around the caps: parlay bets. When you select two wagers on different games onto your betslip, a "2 Leg Parlay" bet option will show, which bets on both outcomes happening together -- that is, you're paid only if both teams win their respective games. This lets you combine, say, two coin-flip games into one roughly 1-in-4 (+300) bet, but often with a looser cap that lets you wager the full $5,000. I've confirmed that parlay bets qualify for the promo on Fanduel and seen people successfully do this.I've been helping organize bets like this for the last couple weeks, so I'm happy to answer any questions."

2023.03.24 07:36 InsiderTrader- Its a lost cause : The Indian Left
The indian left has been trying to revive the opposition for a while.
this has a few problems:
- The BJP being the worlds biggest party.
- The BJP haveing a cadre almost entirely dedicated to its cause
- The VHP and RSS having penetrated deep into the indian system and having more civil servants
- The indian right having penetrated the military and IB/RAW.
- The indian right having penetrated judiciary.
- The indian right making around 20% of the indian population.
- The bjp enjoying 75% of the entire donations/bond moeny circulation that equates to 1900 crores versus the congress mere 565 crores.
The problem is tht even in the case of INC winning any election for the next 30 years will be opposed by internal powers within the government and the tenture will be systematically ended due to the BJP having such political and monetary prowess.
The problem that i am seeing as an independent voice is that congress hasen't merely lost the general elections but a bigger game almost like a 4D chess that modi and Co. has been playing for a while now.
What is it you think will happen to the congress after all the bjp has well about a billion dollars in their coffers.

But, the mainstream reach of crypto is undeniably growing. https://le.utah.gov/~2023/bills/static/HB0357.html
- Sen. Lummis killed it in a recent hearing defending the energy use in crypto. It’s less relevant for us in Cardano since we’re not PoW. But, still entertaining to watch. https://twitter.com/DocumentingBTC/status/1633214192437084161

Incredibly, the study of law is actually a fully developed centuries old academic discipline that lies outside of JavaScript and Python. Unless you have full anonymity, you WILL be cross-chain bridged to IRL law. Some DAOs will learn this the hard way. https://twitter.com/lex_node/status/1633925979004436481
- The NY Attorney General just filed against Kucoin for being an unregistered broker-dealer. Here’s the important part: they’re alleging that ETH is a security and a commodity. Their argument is not complex...it’s very straightforward. https://www.docdroid.net/Myyp0yz/kucoin-pdf
- Silvergate was a failure of fractional reserve banking, not of crypto. https://twitter.com/CaitlinLong_/status/1633608132713938945
- The current US Administration’s Budget seeks to eliminate tax loss harvesting for crypto, add a 30% tax on energy used in crypto mining, hike capital gains taxes on high earners, and beam us directly to clown world with an unrealized gains tax on high earners. https://www.whitehouse.gov/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/budget_fy2023.pdf
- The subcommittee hearing on “the Administration’s Attack” on crypto went about like expected. Paul Grewal of Coinbase along with Prof. Evans of Penn State Law made some persuasive pleas for regulatory clarity. The “Anti-Crypto Party”™ also brought out their favorite witness from Duke. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aOUUy4_KwNU
- Rep. Emmer (Pro-Crypto) called the current regulatory approach “lazy & destructive…that is chilling innovation.” https://www.youtube.com/live/aOUUy4_KwNU?feature=share&t=5670
- Rep. Foster (Cryptophobe): “this is the essential thing that has to be provided for the healthy development of the crypto industry…somewhere there has to be an API provided by a trusted 3rd party to register your crypto wallets.” Why not just completely neuter crypto? https://www.youtube.com/live/aOUUy4_KwNU?feature=share&t=5266
- Rep. Ritchie Torres (Pro-Crypto) pointed out offshore deregulated overleveraged centralized crypto companies pose the greatest risk to consumers. But, the regulators don’t focus there. They incredibly only attack the onshore entities. He also pointed out the absurdity of the idea a stablecoin is a security. (Sadly there’s the Section 2(a)(1) exposure). https://www.youtube.com/live/aOUUy4_KwNU?feature=share&t=5703
- Rep. Davidson (Pro-Crypto) shamed his anti-crypto colleagues for their implied claims that these assets are the same as centralized assets and came out strongly supporting self-custody and pointed out there was no FTX risk if you self-custodied your assets. “We have people overtly trying to make self-custody illegal.” https://www.youtube.com/live/aOUUy4_KwNU?feature=share&t=6034
- CMC is tweeting about IOG’s Sidechain toolkit? https://twitter.com/CoinMarketCap/status/1634773712468852736
- Now we’re dealing with U.S. bank runs. Among the casualties was Silicon Valley Bank where Centre (the Circle/Coinbase joint entity that issues USDC) was keeping $3.3 billion of the $43ish billion backing USDC. Signature Bank was also shut down by regulators. https://www.forbes.com/sites/digital-assets/2023/03/11/43-billion-nightmare-sudden-circle-depeg-could-be-about-to-crash-the-price-of-bitcoin-ethereum-bnb-xrp-cardano-dogecoin-polygon-and-solana
- Unfortunately, the FDIC insurance limit is $250k. https://www.fdic.gov/resources/deposit-insurance/brochures/deposits-at-a-glance/
- The Feds were taking bids for anyone to acquire SVB until 2pm Eastern on Sunday. The big question on Sunday was whether the Feds will cover all uninsured depositors. They decided they will and that also applies to Signature Bank. https://www.washingtonpost.com/us-policy/2023/03/12/silicon-valley-bank-deposits/
- Here’s the joint statement from Treasury, Federal Reserve, and FDIC. https://home.treasury.gov/news/press-releases/jy1337
- Yellen said NO to a bailout for SVB on Sunday. She’s obviously got bigger macro concerns. But, it’s funny how that fits perfectly with a strategy of suppressing stablecoins generally. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/janet-yellen-silicon-valley-bank-bailout-face-the-nation-interview-today-2023-03-12/
- Here Caitlin Long explains the fundamental incompatibility between fast settling crypto and fractional reserve banking that caused all this. https://twitter.com/CaitlinLong_/status/1634573552790929409

PRESENTING PETITIONS Betty Nippi-Albright (NDP) 1:42:00 Presents a petition signed by residents of Saskatoon that calls for duty-to-consult legislation to be enacted. The petitioners are concerned that without this legislation in place, the government is responsible for recognizing when the duty-to-consult is triggered, which has resulted in a lack of engagement with Indigenous communities and lost court battles. The petitioners request that the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan call on the Government of Saskatchewan to immediately stop the sale of Crown lands and enact meaningful duty-to-consult legislation. 90% of crown land has already been sold.
Terry Dennis (SaskParty) 1:43:17 The federal government is infringing on their rights. Wants the Sask First policies.
*NOTE: This is the daily unfounded constitutional challenge that they bring.
Vicki Mowatt (NDP) 1:44:28 Ms. Mowat presents a petition signed by residents of Wilkie that calls for the Government of Saskatchewan to fix the rural health care staffing crisis. The petitioners are concerned about the recruitment and retention of health care professionals in Saskatchewan's rural health care facilities, which has led to disruptions in emergency room, acute, lab, and X-ray services. The petitioners request that the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan call on the Government of Saskatchewan to address the staffing crisis.
STATEMENTS BY MEMBERS Vicki Mowatt (NDP) 1:48:39 Bringing awareness to multiple myeloma.
Alana Ross (SaskParty) 1:46:59 Tribute to Himboldt Broncos and an intro to a local from her riding. He presented the team and and ems/first responders last year.
Nathaniel Teed (NDP) 1:48:26 Speaks about dedication and passion of the Ukrainian Museum of Canada and its staff, volunteers, and community members. He highlights the importance of the museum's artifacts and how they remain relevant today. Mr. Teed was invited to give remarks at the opening of a new exhibit at the museum, which remembers the discriminatory reality of Canada's detainment policies during World War I. He mentions that thousands of Ukrainians were among those held in internment camps across Canada and forced to work in a country they did not know. He also connects current events, such as Putin's unprovoked invasion of Ukraine.
Terry Jenson (SaskParty) 1:49:40 Talks about 5000 people in Warman joining for a cheerleading event.
Gary Grewal (SaskParty) 1:51:15 Talks about his visit to the Regina Trades and Skills last fall.
Fred Bradshaw (SaskParty) 1:52:47 Talks about some people joining the winter games this past winter.
Muhammad Fiaz (SaskParty) 1:54:01 Starts by saying “Members opposite won’t want to hear it, but we have good news from our economy”. He says that urban starts in Saskatchewan for Feb 2023 are up 76% from last year, and claims that the best in the country. He also says more people are choosing to move here because we are the most stable on the planet.
*NOTE: I didn’t bother fact checking this, but a year ago were pandemic measures, short supply of building materials etc. It’s a dishonest metric from the start. And to start out inflammatory… strange. His entire speech is ridiculous, especially when you consider our worst in country outmigration and migration retention rates.
QUESTION PERIOD Health Care Staffing and Provision of Emergency Care 1:55:30 Vicki Mowatt, Nathaniel Teed (NDP) vs Paul Merriman (SaskParty) Mowat accuses the government of failing on the economy and health care, citing the closure of the emergency room at Regina General Hospital in Regina. She questions whether the people of Regina should expect such failures when it comes to their emergency care.
Merriman’s excuse is there are always ebbs and flows within the health care system and that officials have told him the pressure at the Regina General has been alleviated. He also cites that Saskatoon emergency was shut down over the weekend as well.
He also mentions that the government is working on a human resource plan to ensure that people in Saskatchewan receive the health care they deserve. Mowat argues that health care workers are sounding the alarm and that the disaster at the Regina General should never have happened, and quotes the president of the Saskatchewan Union of Nurses (SUN) as saying that there is not enough time, capability, or staff to provide safe patient care in most facilities in the province.
Mowat questions the Minister of Health's responsibility for the state of health care and demands that he take action to ensure that such incidents never happen again. The Minister responds by stating that he met with SUN and other stakeholders to discuss the government's four-point plan to address the issue. He also cites the government's efforts to hire more doctors and nurses and to expand the scope of health care providers in the system. Mowat insists that the government's HR plan is not enough and that it is not working. She criticises the government's 15-year record and accuses it of refusing to take responsibility for its failures.
She also questions why the Minister of Health is not listening to nurses and local voices in health care and demands that he work to find real solutions to the crisis in emergency rooms. She says that he shut down a request for a task force to address these issues. The Minister responds by stating that he meets with unions and other groups regularly to incorporate their ideas into the government's plan. He emphasises that the government is working to meet the needs of people in Saskatchewan and will never take their health care for granted.
Teed describes a retired nurse from his riding who had to lay on the floor having a medical emergency. She couldn’t get an ambulance and called family to say goodbye. Merriman responds by he has met with the ambulance providers and went for coffee with them. Teed fires back saying no one should wait an hour for an ambulance, and people are getting hurt.
\NOTE: The tomorrow measures Merriman cites have been deemed not enough by the provincial auditor. They use the same excuse week after week, but the results appears to get work, considering that ERs are closed in our largest cities. He mentions this 4 point plan, and cites the number of nurses and doctors that he’s bring in, but it’s all bandaids, and it’s fewer than we should have previously had. The plan is very late.*
Jennifer Bowes, Matt Love (NDP) vs Dustin Duncan (SaskParty) Access to childcare spaces Bowes expresses concern about the crisis in the healthcare system and the rushed announcement of a $10-a-day childcare policy, and didn’t take the time to get things right to get headlines. She argues that parents who rely on part-time care should not be collateral damage in the minister's desire to score a great headline. Bowes questions whether the Duncan will work with childcare workers to ensure that no one loses their space as a result of the announcement. Duncan responds by assuring that no spaces will be cut, and he emphasizes that he got this deal done 3 years early. Bowes continues to press for answers, stating that the government needs to listen to parents and childcare providers who stand to lose access to their spots. She argues that a one-size-fits-all approach does not work for working moms in Saskatoon and Whitewood. Duncan questions the opposition's inconsistent stance on the policy and its impact on the economy.
\NOTE Duncan’s comment about the NDP being inconsistent is nothing but absurd. He is still positioning this as his achievement, but reality is he accepted the $10 a day, he didn’t work for it at all. I also didn’t fact check school funding numbers.. It’s clearly underfunded regardless.*
Funding for education Matt Love (NDP) vs Dustin Duncan (SaskParty) Love chimes up that Prairie Valley School division has now started a charity to continue to keep their school running. Duncan insists that he has foundations in place to keep the schools going, and his side of the isle laughs out loud at Love, then he claims Saskatchewan is the highest spending on education in the country. Love returns back that he asked about this funding in 2020, and Duncan told him “We are not going to rely on bake sales to ensure that we have a continuation of a safe return to work” and asks how bottle drives compare as a funding method. Duncan again insists that they’re giving a lot of money to schools, and asks if Love doesn’t want people with a lot of money to help fund the schools, and cites the Brownlee family (may be spelled wrong, I don’t know who they are.)
Government Support for Harm Reduction 2:18:15 Vicki Mowatt (NDP) vs Everette Hindley (SaskParty) Latest overdose numbers, 103 deaths in two months this year, same as all of 2016. This conversation happens daily. Hindley says that they have a going forward plan of additional funding. Mowatt continues to press for immediate action, Hindley justifies the money that has been spent but doesn’t address the current record, but has a going forward plan.
ORDERS OF THE DAY Bill No. 109 — The Trespass to Property Amendment Act, 2022 2:22:00 Nicole Sarauer (NDP) Says that they have put very serious concerns on the record about the bill, how it would affect stakeholders. She brings up the premiers tweet about federal workers going on to private property and calls it a redundant bill since people already need to abide by these laws. Cites concerns from Saskel, SaskEnergy and highways workers who are concerns about the rhetoric and their safety.
Bill No. 116 — The Plant Health Act 2:25:06 Vicki Mowatt (NDP) Notes importance of pest control in agriculture. She is leaving more questions to their critic.
Bill No. 117 — The Saskatchewan Firearms Act 2:27:45 Betty Nippi-Albright (NDP) Cites her experience of her husband being shot by an illegal firearm, as well as being an indigenous person who relies on firearms for their way of life. She shares the concerns of FSIN regarding lack of consultation. She wants more consultation with impact communities.
Bill No. 118 — The Warrant Compliance Act 2:34:32 Vicki Mowatt (NDP) She agrees with powers to the police to help find violent reoffenders. Again raises concerns about who is a repeat violent offender, there are definitions missing, and she is concerned about unintended consequence for families, especially kids.
Bill No. 122 — The Saskatchewan Revenue Agency Act 2:37:56 Doyle Vermette (NDP) Asks why they are doing this, he’s been asking every reading but isn’t getting an answer. Says there was no consultation, and now business will need to file two taxes, one provincial one federal. No answers provided. He cites the cost of a new crown, and says that he has heard ministers in the Saskparty say that they can raise taxes, and they’ll still get voted in. And when the result is negative, they’ll say something about the liberal ndp federal government and put their hand out begging for federal dollars.
Bill No. 124 — The Alcohol and Gaming Regulation Amendment Act 2:45:38 Jennifer Bowes (NDP) Cites once again there are mixed responses from stakeholders, and wants the government to consult.
Bill No. 126 — The Summary Offences Procedure Amendment Act, 2022 2:52:58 Nathanial Teed (NDP) He’s happy about allowing first nations to enforce their own laws, bylaws, summar offense tickets, time limits. He’s in favour.
