I am moving a working Xamarin app to Maui and have run into an issue connecting to the SQL Server.
First - This is an INTERNAL only inventory system that runs on Android scanner hardware. Thus we have no concerns with making a direct connection to the SQL Server and do not need or want a middle service. (Because I know that was going to be suggested).
Second - I have searched the Googles and have found others having this issue but none of the solutions have worked for me. (Adding security flags to the connection string such as encrypt=false, etc)
Third - It "could" be that my SQL Server resides on an older Windows 2012 Server and the SQL is version Microsoft SQL Server 2012 (SP4-GDR) and the Server has not been updated to TLS2. The reason being is that this server also has to provide service to legacy VB6 and Crystal Reports 9 and I am afraid upgrading the server to TLS2 will break one or more of those. (That's a project for Q3 when I am spinning up a new VM with Server 22)
The Issue:
When I try and connect to the SQL Server with Android - I get the error: "A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the pre-login handshake."
The application runs fine for Windows. (Which leads me to believe issue 3 above is not the case?)
Also - it runs fine on Android in Xamarin with System.Data.SqlClient. My understanding is that this has been antiquated and I should move to Microsoft.Data.SqlClient - which is where I am.
Here is my simplified code. The error occurs on db.Open();

I just got hired as an editor to a website. They sent me the login and I’m only a subscriber. They explained there is an existing contract with the original theme/site developer and the developer is the only admin on the site. Ultimately i need to figure out how to duplicate the site while not being able to install plug-ins? They are getting new permissions for me to add pages/posts but that might be it. Outside of scraping the site is there any trick i can try? They want to re-negotiate with the developer, has anyone had an experience like this?

This is going to be a long rant, read if you care, scroll if you don’t. Specialty nights have been a thing for a long time. It’s fun to celebrate something alongside just your typical hockey game, it can bring in new crowds of people, and for some groups it helps them feel like they’re actually wanted there. It’s a great thing, even if I’m sure some of its just for the cash grab. But there’s only ever hatred for pride night. If you follow the Florida panthers Instagram, you can see all the poison in the comments about the pride jerseys. People just being blatantly hateful and homophobic. Scroll a little ways to the black history night jerseys, there’s a couple racist comments, but most things are about how cool the jerseys looked or how badly the team was playing. Saint Patrick’s day, HFC night, military appreciation, nothing negative. So why are these events ok, but pride night is “shoving it down your throat, too political”? And when it comes to the Staals- this is their job. They are paid to be Florida Panthers, they should support the organization they work for or they can go elsewhere. The panthers were the first team to ever implement a pride night, and every year I get so excited for it because I want to go out and see the cool rainbow jerseys and watch my heroes support a part of my life. But it’s always met with such malice, and I don’t understand why it’s so difficult for some people to just accept that queer people exist, and this existence causes no harm to anyone. I know the queehockey crossover is small, but to any others out there, I’m sorry, I know how much reading those kinds of remarks makes you feel completely hopeless. And I pray it gets better.

Hi All,
Please excuse me if this is not the right sub for this kind of question. My grandfather was given six months to live when he last visited the doctor. When he passes we would need to transport his body from New Jersey (where he currently lives with us), to Chicago so that he can be buried with his long time wife. I found some information online mentioning a "death care travel protection plan". Has someone else worked with this before? What other types of insurance can be purchased for this?
