2023.03.25 18:51 630teetime Thoughts from a 35-Year-Old Bruce Fan Ahead of MSG 4.1
I can't believe that my show is finally here. I got extremely lucky with the pre-sale and scored two tickets in section 111 for Saturday night at Madison Square Garden. My first choice was Newark since I'm from NJ, but I have no right to complain.
The reason I love Bruce is that there were only a few CDs in my father's car growing up: Rubber Soul, Help, Born to Run, and Frank Sinatra's greatest hits. Born to Run was played the most. My father is a fan but nowhere close to the fan I became in a few short years. He grew up in Passaic and saw many great bands at the Capitol Theater including Bruce. What I love about Bruce besides the music is that it takes me back to growing up in the '90s. I was born in 1988, but I feel like Born to Run was the soundtrack to my childhood, even though I didn't really understand what it meant until later on. I just loved the music so damn much. I got a drum set and played Badlands constantly. The nostalgia, childhood innocence, playing his music after baseball games put this band in a league of its own.
My first concert was in 2003 at Giants Stadium for The Rising Tour. I went with my father's best friend, and I was blown away. That night I fell in love with Candy’s Room, Land of Hope and Dreams, growing up and Out in the Streets.
My second concert was in 2008 at Giants Stadium for The Magic Tour. I went with my father's friend again and his daughter. Again, I couldn't believe how amazing it was. Girls in their summer clothes, Jungleland and prove it all night stood out.
My third concert was at Barclays Center in 2016 for The River Tour. I went with my fiancé, who is now my wife of six years. I wasn't crazy about hearing this album from beginning to end, and even though he played with everything he had, I just didn't love the setlist. It simply didn't live up to the previous two shows. I did gain newfound appreciation for "Trapped," though. That was the last time I saw him until this upcoming weekend.
I am just so excited that I feel like tears might stream down my face as soon as he starts playing. The passion, soul, and tenacity of this band are unlike any other.
I've been following the setlists, and they're pretty much the same from night to night. I would have no problem with the setlist as is. They have several songs I haven't heard and love. However, at the Garden, I am hoping that he plays "Jungleland." I mean, the Rangers had a homecoming. Sometimes, I feel guilty that I even have preferences and wishes from a band that will no doubt give me the show of a lifetime. He's already done so much for me and owes me nothing. I'm going with my brother. I can't fucking wait!
Just feel fortunate that I saw Clarence and Danny in my lifetime. My favorite song is Jungleland. I constantly listen to the No Nukes Concert, Live at the Hammersmith Odeon and London Calling Hyde Park is TOP NOTCH. Also, if you haven’t read his autobiography, pick it up right now.
Thank you Bruce.

2023.03.24 23:41 transferStudent2018 Fastest way to get a jersey for next week’s game in NJ?
Not a New Yorker, currently away from home and forgot my main jersey there. About 95% sure I will buy a ticket to next week’s game in NJ as I’m close-ish while on the road. So, I’m using this as an excuse to buy a New Jersey. Where’s the best place to get a jersey quickly – I’m planning on taking the train to Newark from Boston flying into Newark next Thursday. If shipping is reliably fast I can do that as well
Edit: plane was cheaper and easier for me, so I’m flying instead
